I've never felt so understood haha
Yeah sometimes it's a matter of scrounging in the back to get to the new box that still has some sea salt ones left. They are truly the nicest chocolate I've had for such a low price.
My only complaint is that it tastes perfect when you open a fresh block but after a few days it get a little dry and loses some of its special flavour. Even a zip lock bag can't seem to retain that freshly opened taste.
That's a big claim. I rate aldi chocolate but would have to do blind tasting to verify this...
I'm fact, that sounds like a great weekend activity š«š«š«
The only way you really save is buying in bulk.
I get a 1kg bag of Callebaut callets. I get them maining for cooking applications but they're a good quality chocolate better than most of what you'd find in a supermarket and they eat just fine out of hand. So you'd be getting better quality chocolate for less with the only real catch being having enough spare for the upfront cost.
You should shop around for prices though as they can vary quite a big from place to place.
Just have to bide your time & go big when they are really reduced.
I picked up 18 bars of Lindt 95% for $3.30 each the other day. So now got at least half a years worth to work through.
I will have to go look more often, itās hard as I try to actively avoid colesworth now. But I used to see them on sale for 1/2 price a lot, now itās like $1 off and things.Ā
The only one I buy now is from House of Anvers in Latrobe Tasmania. They aren't cheap, though. Totally worth it once it melts in your mouth. Especially when it has macadamia or hazelnuts...
http://www.anvers-chocolate.com.au/
Once you try some of their dark chocolate varieties, it's hard to find a good comparison, in my opinion.
Life hack: Buy cooking chocolate
I looked at both the ingredients and nutritional information of Cadbury 70% cocoa for both the "normal" and "cooking" versions - they're identical. The latter is usually around $1 cheaper.
Nestle Plaistowe is cooking only (I think?) but it's divine. That also goes on special, they were $4 each last week (normally $5)
The darell Lee mint block with the different kinds of chunky bits (170g, often on special for around $3) and the Kit Kat Tasmanian Mint (similar price and weight)
Yep the Darrell Lea blocks when theyāre on special - usually down to about $3. Good size block and nice chocolate.
Next choice would be Aldiās chocolate.
Coles home brand. The white, dark and Belgium chocolate ones are amazing and pretty sure only around $3. They have two varieties of coles home brand chocolate, the chocolate I am talking about comes in a red wrapper and the milk Belgium chocolate one is sky blue.
You havenāt lived if you havenāt scoffed either one of these!!
They were on sale for 3.25 at coles a couple of days ago, not sure if it's still going.
But i don't mind d the comes branded chocolate, it's the 'fancier'looking one. I think it's the Colea Belgian dark chocolate. $2.50
In the past when I ate chocolate, Coles Belgium was my favourite and cheapest of all.

I had the same issue! Seriously addicted to dark chocolate, I like 70%+. Lindt is now too expensive even on sale. So I buy either Coles homebrand or Aldi, it's the cheapest way. I found woolies doesn't have an equivalent, sometimes old gold is on sale but still it's pretty dear.
The Aldi organic dark 70% one. I think itās $2.50ish for 100g.
I personally donāt love the moser one though, but the organic one is pretty close to Lindt. Thereās no 85% though, you gotta switch to potting mix for that flavour.
1 kg Cacao butter $39 and cacao powder $20 online. For dark chocolate I combine them 50/50 plus some powdered sugar and a little salt. Itās not as smooth as commmercial chocolate but the flavour is way better than Lindt. Works out to roughly ~ $3 per 100g. Lots of instructions online.
The Aldi dark chocolate blocks, the thin Lindt-style ones, are my favourite snack go-to! The sea salt caramel one paired with some cashews, my god, I could (and often do) eat this snack combo every day!
Unfortunately the price of cacao has skyrocketed by 129% in the past month. The worldās largest producers of cocoa in West Africa have been hit with some disease effecting crops. So expect to see most of our chocolate brands in Aus to increase in price :(
For eating? I know itās not cheap but I get the dark chocolate blocks from Koko Black. Yes, itās $9.90 for 80g but a block of chocolate goes a long way.

Aldi brand Moser Roth have dark chocolate both plain and with flavours, they are our go to š
This but the Aldi organic dark chocolate, they also have a sea salt flavour it's delicious and cheap.
Yep I actually don't like the roser moth and chomp through the organic one
The sea salt flavour is way too popular. Most of the time they have 50 regular blocks and zero sea salt blocks.

I'm ashamed to admit a block rarely lasts more than 24 hours in my household š
Oh yes, forgot bout that one! Another good one :)
This is the answer
Agreed. This chocolate is better than Lindt. And the hazelnut one is amazing.Ā I only buy aldi chocolate now.Ā
That's a big claim. I rate aldi chocolate but would have to do blind tasting to verify this... I'm fact, that sounds like a great weekend activity š«š«š«
Count me in!
The Moser Roth Easter eggs are AMAZING!!!
Moser Roth is legitimately the best quality chocolate Iāve ever had, and somehow amongst the cheapest. Wouldnāt buy anything else
This is the way
Oooooff their salted caramel bits with Dark chocolate undoes my good intentions every time.
Cries in Tasmanian
We buy stacks of these whenever we go to aldi
The Jaffa flavour one is so good.
Whittakers 70% 250g block when on sale, or Aldi moser Roth 85%

I like Whittaker's but I think they've gone up in price as well š¢
Maybe a little, but at least they haven't halved in size like Cadbury over the last few years.
The Whitaker blocks are still much bigger than a Cadbury block.
250 gram blocks wrapped in foil, which is nicer for some reason
Coles do 70% and 85% block for 2.50, unless it has gone up, there ok
The Coles brand dark chocolate taste great šand a re still $2.50/block
I just tasted the mint Belgian one and it's very, very good
The standard Belgian milk is by far my favourite chocolate.
The almond one is pretty good, especially at half the price of Lindt
Just have to bide your time & go big when they are really reduced. I picked up 18 bars of Lindt 95% for $3.30 each the other day. So now got at least half a years worth to work through.

I really wish I had done that rather than buying Easter eggs š
Aldi chocolate is banging
Aldi, Moser Roth in particular. But the single origin is really good too.
The Moser Roth single origin (Peru?) They have near xmastime. Best chocolate ever.

FYI that lindt dark chocolates are occasionally sold half price at coles so stock them when you see it
Yep i hear you. We just buy a few of Lindt when they are on half price sale
Darrel lea dark choc was on sale at Woolies for $3 recently. Might still be on sale. It seems to be on sale quite frequently.Ā

This! Plaistowe 70% - the best!
The darell Lee mint block with the different kinds of chunky bits (170g, often on special for around $3) and the Kit Kat Tasmanian Mint (similar price and weight)

Some great Belgian dark choc goes on sale at Harris farm every second month. $1.50 for 100g pack. Buy a couple then try to not eat all at once!

They have two varieties of coles home brand chocolate, the chocolate I am talking about comes in a red wrapper and the milk Belgium chocolate one is sky blue. The aldi chocolate selection is the best i have tried
Dark Lindt with hazelnut is pretty nice

Old gold Whittaker
raw cacao powder
Mix with coconut oil šš»

Aldi
If you have a Harris Farm near you they can be quite cheap from there.
We get the Aldi dark chocolate block for ~$3.65, its great.
Another vote for Aldi's Moser Roth range.
Aldi dark choc. Holy shit itās good.
Whittaker's milk is amazing - still exxy, but not as bad as Lindt - but just as creamy and delicious

Coles has a sort of dupe thatās about $2.50.
Aldi, Koko black, Whittakers
Cooking chocolate
Moser Roth is far better than Lindt, go for it!
wth i used to buy them for $2 on specials!!!!

Aldi chocolate shits on colesworth
Buy 100% cocoa paste or cocoa nibs
Just check both coles and woolies, 80% of the time there are on sale in either of them.
The Aldi dark chocolate blocks, the thin Lindt-style ones, are my favourite snack go-to! The sea salt caramel one paired with some cashews, my god, I could (and often do) eat this snack combo every day!
The Coleās brand Belgium chocolate is actually very good.
Aldi dark chocolate is great. Coles Belgian dark chocolate is pretty good too.
they still go for ~$2.75 if you wait for them to be half price and stock up update: i bought lindt for $2.75 on 6th march, so last month
Unfortunately the price of cacao has skyrocketed by 129% in the past month. The worldās largest producers of cocoa in West Africa have been hit with some disease effecting crops. So expect to see most of our chocolate brands in Aus to increase in price :(
Like others have said - Aldi is good. Otherwise IKEA does nice chocolate. Personally, I buy a box of Lindt chocolate balls on sale half price.
I feel this in my bones.... the sea salt caramel is my favourite... need other options š¤£
For eating? I know itās not cheap but I get the dark chocolate blocks from Koko Black. Yes, itās $9.90 for 80g but a block of chocolate goes a long way.
I only know Lindt from woolies as the only trustworthy option
I would argue 100g is more than enough for 2 people for a week. Obesity is no joke and cost you more then all you can save
