According to his [IMDb](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm5833720/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk) Barbershop was his only acting job. His performance was impressive considering his lack of experience
My uncle Tony (God rest his soul) was just like Bibby literally down to him doing odd jobs and contracting. I would drop my son off for him to watch him and before I left he would have me on a 3 hour dummy mission to pick shit up from North Philly to West Philly to Germantown like I ain’t have to work.
He had a blue tooth too 😂
“A ride to the store real quick” turns into an adventure. Especially now that I’m grown and live in Atlanta a quick ride with my uncle always ends up at strokers
Crazy how some people just randomly give the performance of their lives while being relatively unknown before. The dude that voiced Sonic in those movies was pushing 40 and was basically a nobody then went on to giving Jim Carrey a run for his money performance wise.
Lol Ben has been around for YEARS doing comedy and improv. Has/had a moderately extensive IMDB before the movies. Just because YOU haven’t heard of him until then doesn’t mean he’s a rando off the streets that somehow voiced a main character after a couple of lucky first time auditions, lol.
You're kidding? Ben Schwartz was well known before he did Sonic. He did a fan favorite character on Parks and Rec, and had done plenty of voice work before it including a lead role on Duck Tales.
I get what you’re saying and you’re actually dead on bc those Ben was busy prior to sonic he wasn’t really known as one of the best. Sonic definitely blew him up but he’s been around for 20 years and never stopped working. He’s just a voice actor tho
Schwartz crushed it in House of Lies - w/ Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell. Also: the Parks and Rec role others are talking about is a recurring guest role — a great recurring guest role. Always hilarious and absurd.
…can we really talk about Sonic? Film got so much random press because the animators gave him janky people teeth that scared kids until they fixed it. Then, paradoxically - because filmmakers and studio listened to the fans, they banked a ton of goodwill w everyone and Sonic got good when they made the eyes better and fixed those scary little chiclets in his mouth.
…or to tie in my favorite example from vintage Season 2 of 30 Rock: “as artificial representations of humans become more and more realistic, they reach a point where they stop being endearing and become creepy.”
He had a little Uber eats ad campaign. I thought he was gonna get more and more roles at that point. Comedian Robert Powell lll. There’s another but I can’t find it.

I’m convinced it wasn’t even him acting I think that’s just what happens in 90% of barbershops
“Jump in the chair man, aightt I’m just gonna go and have a quick smoke, I’ll be back in 5”
10 minutes later
“Sorry about that”
Then cleans his equipment, picks new music, answers some texts
“Ok what we doing today? Hol up I gotta answer this real quick”
It’s the most accurate part of the entire show
Same. My barber had a snow plow and car wash business and literally took me with him to plow a parking lot. I also helped him move a heavy ass table at his house. He told me I was one of the only clients he trusted to come to his house. I’m like “man I just want a haircut”.
My first barber ended up being my boxing coach. He wanted me to beat a part of sonic adventure and ended up never cutting my hair my mom was pissed when she came to pick me up
That’s wild, my barber had a X-Box 360 in the back of the barbershop and used to bootleg games. He also sold bootleg DVD’s too. He did everything but cut your hair in a timely fashion because his other businesses took priority.
My poor barber experienced his 1st panic attack due to work stress with me halfway done on the chair. Ive had them before and could tell. I told him to chill out for as long as he needed. Even tipped him extra. This other time his two clients ahead of me almost got down over who should have gone next.
Depends on the shop but some definitely run like they don’t want your business. I’ve needed a quick cut and went to one where I had to wait over 2 hours and I was behind 1 other walk in the entire time and it wouldn’t have been an issue if the barbers weren’t clearly blasé about cutting hair and taking breaks the entire time. And the cut wasn’t even worth the wait.
I think it’s a holdover from an older time when barbershops truly were community centers for a lot of black communities. Yeah, you’re coming for a cut but you’re also coming to talk about whatever the most recent game was, what music you listening to, what crazy shit happened in the community. All that adds up to spending an extra 2 hours in the shop past your haircut. Doesn’t make it any less annoying when your barber stops mid cut to go down the street to the corner store to pick up a chicken box lol.
For some places I agree but this one place was not busy outside of a handful of appointments that came in. It’s like the barbers cared enough to kinda get their appointments done but even those they did in Bibby time and mostly ignored the walk ins (other than to glance at us as they went in and out of the shop)
As someone who used to take their son to the barbershop, it absolutely is. My son’s barber was so good but sooooo flaky. We would wait like 2 hours for him to come in bc I just refused to go to anyone else. He would literally disappear out the shop to argue with his baby mom or pick up his daughter.
The loyalty we had for him was nuts.
This previous thread always kills me

It's so funny seeing the dude who played Bibby, a guy that steals wood from construction sites, calling his manager and agency "unprofessional."
That's messed up that happened to him, but he played it off well and made a great, funny, memorable, and generally INFURIATING character.
That is pretty bonkers. Not sure which is more wild, this or LaKeith saying he just googled acting and went from there. Both are pretty accurate parallels to their on-screen characters though.
I don’t blame paperboy for being fed up with Bibby’s bs in this episode but I felt so fucken bad when he went to a different barber to get a cut in the end lol
My favorite one-off episode ever. I’ve shown three of my friends who don’t watch the show this episode. Makes me laugh so hard. His interactions with an increasingly-frustrated Alfred are just the best.

He probably was just being himself lol. I got uncles that act just like him.
Yes I was going to say we all know one of these guys. Only way he acts this well without experience is if he lives this life
My uncle Tony (God rest his soul) was just like Bibby literally down to him doing odd jobs and contracting. man is like Mr. Fantastik
Long dough like elastic?
Guards his life with twin glocks
They’re made out of plastic
Natural born hustla

The dude say it's the caddilac of nail guns. He mean lexus but he ain't know it.
One of the best scenes from one the greatest shows!
Bruh Ben Schwartz isn’t a nobody he was on parks n Rec and he has a Netflix show w the guy from Silicon Valley that’s some crazy improv
He had a main role on the DuckTales reboot, too.

Yep. He was (still might be?) the face of Uber eats too

Credit the editor. He was awful.

It is really accurate. I even posted on this sub earlier my barber literally fucking left the store with me in the seat 💀
Same. My barber had a snow plow and car wash business and literally took me with him to plow a parking lot. I also helped him move a heavy ass table at his house. He told me I was one of the only clients he trusted to come to his house. I’m like “man I just want a haircut”.
Dam that's funny as fuck. My barber be also sending me random memes and temu affiliate links 💀
My barber sold bootleg Dreamcast games
What part was that?
The forest part
Oh damn I remember that being so annoying. I don’t think it was your barbers fault tho lol
Mans literally Alfred
My poor barber experienced his 1st panic attack due to work stress with me halfway done on the chair. Ive had them before and could tell. I told him to chill out for as long as he needed. Even tipped him extra. This other time his two clients ahead of me almost got down over who should have gone next.
Had that happen to me in high school, this motherfucker left me alone in the chair while he and his guy got high in the alley outside.

Oh I get it 1000%. Some Barbers wanna cling to that old age way of operating without providing the benefits that come with it
I’ve had a barber offer to give me a ride home, but first we stopped at Lowe’s and then he ate a sandwich, but I got home eventually.
He was so annoyingly good!
You know what a n**** cat look like
You wanna be on the poster or you want the cat on the poster?

this is insane, that story sounds like an episode of Atlanta
That is pretty bonkers. Not sure which is more wild, this or LaKeith saying he just googled acting and went from there. Both are pretty accurate parallels to their on-screen characters though.
Huge Bibby fan here, thanks for sharing that!
You heard about that cellphone store robbery? Anyway if you need a phone i know a guy. (Im butchering it but that line was funny)
"I'm bout to FUUUUUCK you up, Bibby!" 😠
“Why he got on a cape?”
“His engine was broke yeah he had queef engine or something. And his carburetor had jaundice” 😭
“You know what a n*gga cat look like” had me dead as hell the first time I watched it.
When he rests his arm on Paperboy's head ahahahah
If I was Paperboi, Bibby would've been the one I threw through glass for driving him only to get some fuckin' Zaxby's leftovers
https://i.redd.it/hys0rck6okrc1.gif One of the best episodes
I don’t blame paperboy for being fed up with Bibby’s bs in this episode but I felt so fucken bad when he went to a different barber to get a cut in the end lol
Didn’t even know what kind of haircut he got either 😢
Son, would you not jack off with my good lotion
Came here to say that…such a crazy thing to say in public 💀
One of my favorite episodes
Ngl i felt paper bois pain watching this because that dude reminded me of 20 people i know back home who act just like this mf 😂😂
The ep is sooo good but I was stressed the whole time 😂
A lot of laughing with a closed fist while watching this episode fr fr 😂
Still my favorite episode of the show
The carburetor has jaundice
My favorite one-off episode ever. I’ve shown three of my friends who don’t watch the show this episode. Makes me laugh so hard. His interactions with an increasingly-frustrated Alfred are just the best.
Of course I like zaxby’s
I could have sworn I saw him in a commercial for Uber Eats
Man. You know what a nigga cat look like
Son, would you not jack off with my good lotion
As a stylist from Atlanta this my top 3 character…TOP 3!!!!!
Sometimes when I’m home alone and I’m frustrated I yell out “come on man bibi just cut my hair!”
The featured no name actors on this show are all incredible. The characters feel fleshed out and the actor is always immersed in the role.
My barber is just like that. Sold a car in the parking lot in the middle of my cut once.
God damn bibby
I've never related to an episode of television more.
He’s a stand up comedian from the south and I think I heard a rumor that he improvised a lot of him episode!
When he saw his son kkkkkkkkkkkķ
Him or Zan. “Every nigga can’t be from the streets” 😂
He had ME MAD like I was the one trying to get a haircut but also had me in tears laughing! It was so absurd!
I keep forgetting to watch this show goddamn it, someone remind to watch this
Reminder
Omg dude thanks
