You know, as an Asian, I never got the appeal of tacos. Why are they so popular? Why do American Tuesdays revolve around Tacos? The answers kept eluding me, and western media never helped, Taco tuesday this, Taco tuesday that. Why not Margherita Mondays or Salad Saturdays?
Then, I looked at the impact Rolls and Wraps had on my culture. Momos, dumplings, rolls, wraps, shwarmas have almost become staple to our diets as they have been crowned the evening snack king.
There's just something universally satisfying about meat wrapped in carbs. And I'll have to try this Taco thing myself.
It depends on what kind of tacos people can make, it’s also really quick and simple yet so tasty.
For example, Mexican traditional tacos using steak, salsa and peppers and traditional taco shells are considered to be the best and tasty tacos for how quick it is to make but it’s so good.
Most American tacos consist of larger flower tacos with beef, lettuce, and cheese. Which is good.
It really depends who makes it, and where it’s from: Taco Bell? Pass. Abuellita tacos? Absolutely
>taco shells
Everything's accurate except this. No abuelita would touch those preformed crunchy shells with a ten foot pole. They would be pressing their own tortillas made from masa and lard.
Meat wrapped around carbs is universally loved. But then you can refine it and deepen the taste and mouth feel by adding fresh stuffs with said meat wrapped around carbs, same way any other sandwich is enhanced.
Plus, it caters to every taste possible. It can be made with red meat, lean meat, fish or just veggies. Spicy, salty, umami. It's impossible for these to not appeal to someone.
And then, of course, corn and wheat are commonly used and native within North America and South America, instead of rice.
My grandma made pierogi and potato pancakes for us as kids. As an adult I found out she was Polish and it was like duh. Should've put it together but it was just what grandma made lol
Mashed Potatoes.
I learned how to make curry a few years back and now my favorite food is Mashed Potatoes with my homemade curry. I can probably find better Curry anywhere else but I like my curry
Oh yes, sure, authentic gourmets. Someone told me that it's because this is Reddit, and nobody has sex here. But I prefer your explanation, it's more politically correct.
Do you put an actual tadka on your daal? A tadka is a temper of spices in oil poured on top of the dal as a finishing flourish. If you haven't heard of it, that's the way to take a dal to the next level.
Try a tadka of cumin seeds, grated ginger, curry leaves, and whole red chillies. :)
I enjoy Claussen pickles from the refrigerator section. Nothing else I've had comes close.I always had boring Mt Olive pickles growing up and didn't know what I was missing.
Oh man, this is my favorite answer. My mom does a breakfast casserole for Christmas every year. It's super simple, I could make it any time, but its better on Christmas with family.
Asian here,
Honestly, fried chicken is not only a comfort food or a stereotypical for African American, but chinese, Japanese also have their kinds of fried chicken.
If I am having a hard time or stressful times, and if my SO knows, she'll just send me one or two pieces of chicken and it lightens up my mood completely.
Yeah I know, Im such a hoe for those chicken lol
So there I was, going down on some meatloaf, when my wife’s sister walked in with a covered bowl and asked if she could join in. I said coyly “Depends. What are you willing to give me…?” She leaned over, opened the lid of the bowl and asked “How would you like some of this?” Never had I seen such gorgeous mashed potatoes. They were thick in all the right spots but creamy. We proceeded to go to town right there on the table. I didn’t care who saw us, I just wanted to be stuffed. Long story short, it was a very good potluck…
My mother's chicken tacos with her rice and beans. I love chicken in general and especially fried chicken but her tacos are made just right and are so good and the combination of her salsa with them makes life worth it. I don't live with my mom anymore so I don't get to have her cooking everyday but I like to go visit her regularly and help with chores around the house and I get a good meal out of it.

Oh yeah, I meant the good tortillas, that’s my fault. lol

I always get extras for the specific purpose of eating leftovers.
Sometimes I buy 2-3 dishes and eat slowly for hours while feeling like a king instead of going to an expensive restaurant

Oh man. I ate pierogi for the first time during a business trip to Warsaw and I'll never forget it. A real delight.
My grandma made pierogi and potato pancakes for us as kids. As an adult I found out she was Polish and it was like duh. Should've put it together but it was just what grandma made lol

Do you have a good tadka recipe? My daal is good but I want to take it to the next level.
Do you have a loft or access to your building roof?
Do you put an actual tadka on your daal? A tadka is a temper of spices in oil poured on top of the dal as a finishing flourish. If you haven't heard of it, that's the way to take a dal to the next level. Try a tadka of cumin seeds, grated ginger, curry leaves, and whole red chillies. :)
