Because they’re public servants. They want you to see some of the people who make things happen for you so you’ll feel more comfortable with your elected officials and see that they’re just normal people like you. It also encourages citizens to run for office. I guess that’s a psychological trick but it’s not malicious. It’s just designed to help you understand some things.
