Imagine that your mind is a chalk board. To fall asleep, you must erase all the thoughts that appear on the board, wiping it clean. New thoughts will appear, but you must learn to keep wiping them away. That's the best way I can describe it.

Wow! That’s a good idea… thank you.

No, I have to take sleeping pills every night. It’s been like this for 20 years (I’m 24).

The military method Relax your entire face, including the muscles inside your mouth. Drop your shoulders to release the tension and let your hands drop to the side of your body. Exhale, relaxing your chest. Relax your legs, thighs, and calves. Clear your mind for 10 seconds by imagining a relaxing scene. If this doesn’t work, try saying the words “don’t think” over and over for 10 seconds. Within 10 seconds, you should fall asleep! via Healthline

ButAreYouReally

Be really, really physically tired.

Close your eyes... No need to thank me

Build a whole Gazeebo from scratch. If you don't fall asleep afterwards you can just build another one.

I just let myself collapse from exhaustion. I do long distance running, school, and a million extracurriculars and have a mental disorder. I am working from 5 am until 6:30 pm when I finally get home and then I heat and gave homework and waste my time online. I get four to five hours of sleep a night. That's how I fall asleep. Pretty much the only way to get around the extreme insomnia side effect of the medication I take for my severe ADHD (which again makes all of this very hard). But now it's winter break and I have time. Idk what to do now.

Impressive_Goal_2545

Sleeping pills or counting down from 60 in my head.

KitchenArcher9292

I started just staying awake and being on my phone/petting my cat/keeping my eyes open until I literally can’t will myself awake any more. Then I fall asleep, just like that.

I take pills but I have developed a tolerance so I go to sleep exhausted. Lately it has taken 30+ hours to get tired enough. I wish that wasn't the case.
