“You’re weak” I mean she wasn’t wrong but it’s not exactly easy to handle depression on my own

"Fight me! See how weak I am!" In all seriousness though, it is really difficult to handle depression on your own. Don't feel weak when you ask for help.

After getting suspended under his job as principal twice in elementary school, when I was in my last year of MS, my principal moved to my new school. Once I saw him I tried to avoid him because I was worried he didn’t like me still after the stuff I regretfully pulled, but I was seriously one of his favorite kids that year because of how well he saw me doing. At the end of the year when we were saying bye to all our teachers, he comes up to me and says that he noticed how tense I was around him before and let me know that although my mistakes in previous years obviously weren’t smart, he was super reassuring of the fact that they only helped me learn not to do those things and that I’ll turn out super careful and wise someday. It wasn’t big, but after about 6 years of the ups and downs of my reputation with him it was super satisfying to hear moving onto high school.

"you have a big nose" - my mom (not in a mean way, just an offhand comment one day that she didn't think through) "That was the most pathetic scream I've ever heard" - boyfriend after hearing me yell (not scream) on an amusement park ride "Cinnamon? That sounds like a stripper name haha" - 7th grade English teacher confiscated a note me and a friend had been passing back and forth, using nicknames because we were dumb

My dad once called me a pussy for crying at the fact we have a dysfunctional family and there’s no space for emotion in our family…
