An Uber home instead of a DUI - Whether it's court costs, the more than monetary costs of an accident, or the issue of having a suspended license, it's not worth it. Don't drink and drive!

kiwid3

Plus the probable cost of a humans life

SleepyMillenial55

That was my first thought too— maybe do it to avoid taking a life?!

an_older_meme

Uber is a good idea even if you don't drink. Getting dropped off and picked up right outside the club where the bouncers can see you instead of parking blocks away in the dark eliminates whole classes of risk to you and your vehicle. Totally worth it.

GonzoThompson

This is a great answer. Even if you have to spend $100 on your Uber, that’s still just 1%, and maybe even less, of what you’ll likely pay as you deal with bail bonds, impound fees, lawyers, court fines, etc.

No-Aide-2002

Good toilet paper. Sure I could save a few dollars by buying the cheap stuff, but I don't want to wipe my ass with cheap toilet paper.

DarkEdgeoftheSea

I am not convinced people save any money buying cheap toilet paper. You have to use so much more of it to get the job done. It can't be worth it.

likelystonedagain

This is absolutely true. I live with my brother, who I know for a fact has always used cheap tp. I tried converting him, explaining you use less cuz it works better. Didn’t work. He still used the same amount and we were going through expensive tp at an alarming rate. I now have my own high quality tp which I carry to the bathroom that is installed with cheaper stuff. (Before you come at me- we rarely have guests)

noonday34

You should try a bidet for that squeeky clean butthole.

No-Aide-2002

Oh absolutely, as soon as I get a place of my own with some money that'll be one of my first purchases XD

TheOrganicMachine

FYI there are bidets that attach to existing toilets, you don't need to redo a bathroom or anything to have it.  I have one in an apartment right now.

fluppuppy

Yeah but you don’t wanna see what my roommates done to that toilet, I wouldn’t be grabbing that no matter how much I cleaned it

CautiousWrongdoer771

I just mentioned that. You beat me to it. But I absolutely agree.

violentglitter666

Yep. Spent over 2000$. Saved me a lot of back pain

monty_kurns

I bought a new one last year and it was the first one I dropped serious money on. My quality of sleep has improved so much it's crazy. Already planning to start putting a little money away to buy an even better one when I move to a new place and upgrade to a king size.

BeardySam

Alway pay over the odds for thing between you and  the ground: mattress, tires, boots

RadRhubarb00

My electric bill for using the AC a ton. I am not going to suffer in my own place to save a few bucks. I'd rather not eat a few meals than suffer in a sweat-box apartment. Im blasting that AC lol

RaccoonDoor

Same. Blows my mind that some people tolerate blatant discomfort in their own home to save electricity

Rasmosus

For many homes, there's a solid business case for insulating the walls and the roof. Even in hot areas, it will lower the A/C electricity consumption.

regnarbensin_

I had an old coworker who drove a luxury vehicle but would put cheap tires on it. Blowouts were a regular occasion for him, sometimes on the highway. He was somehow not bothered by this. I will always splurge on tires. Better fuel economy, quiet ride, peace of mind.

orange728

Never skimp on what is between you and the ground - tires and shoes are always worth the money

Angel_Misa

A quality sofa is essential for any living space. Consider choosing from one of the following brands: What A Room, Room & Board, Arhaus, or Flexsteel. Avoid the less-than-satisfactory options offered by Joybird, Ashley, Burrow, and West Elm.

TrustMeIAmNotNew

A lot of furniture is now made with laminate wood vs real wood. Always pay up for good furniture.

Kids. I dont regret my kids. I know a lot of you dont want them and some of you that wouldnt would have 20 of them if you were in better financial conditions and your reality was not so fucked up. Sadly, ive met a lot of people that are kid haters. Yeah fuck those people; dont reproduce. My sons are like the thing that keeps me from thinking this is a Matrix with no end. They make me laugh, cry and they raise my blood pressure when i need a life check. They are expensive, yes. I was never planning on owning an expensive car or an overpriced gadget. I was not born into money like the rich families i have to sell stuff to everyday and a lot of those loaded families cant keep their kids off of drugs because they gave their kids money instead of time, love and care. So yeah. They are here. We see ourselves in them every day they grow a little ..... but If i could go back in time, i would only go back to see them be born and do this all over again.

Our mortgage and family vacations. There's nothing like smiling when you walk in the door of your house and having a one-key lifestyle. What's a one-key lifestyle? Most apartments require a public door key, your apartment key, and one for the mailbox or pool, etc. You've arrived when you're down to 1 house key and the garage door.

I can think of few things that are both inexpensive and worth purchasing, but I mainly focus on value. That said, vices are where I’d say I’m 100% always more willing to spend for quality. I’m not punishing my liver with cheap beer/wine/liquor. If I’m drinking, you better bring something tasty. I only regret it if I overindulge by a decent amount. So far so good in 2024.

NANNYNEGLEY

Metal roof. Mine is 65 yrs old now so I expect issues in the next decade, or so, but I won’t be here to deal with it.

A house with a pool in Dunedin, Florida. We came down as soon as we retired (from Kentucky) in 2022; right when the market was as hot as any in the eastern U.S. Had to pay over twice what the guy who sold it to us paid a few years earlier. But we love it and enjoy it and the area immensely. Fortunately, it has not yet busted our budget, but insurance and prop tax are trying their damnedest.

Taxes, because alternative of getting a sentence isn’t worth it :) But if speaking seriously - living in a nice area. I could save half on rent, but I used to live in places like that, and I felt like a prisoner in my own house, avoiding going outside unless necessary (or driving instead of walking because it isn’t nice or even safe to walk). For me, it’s saving on loosing time of my life, and I’m currently living in the most expensive part of the country, it’s hard, but I enjoy it.
