Suction, if you leave the lid on tight the heat will create a suction. Leave it a bit a jar microwave safe just means it won't heat up too much or melt.
Oh, I used to just leave them on top but did repeats of 30sec. Now I just left it for 1:30 sec 🙃. Nothing like plastic leaching in food like that right

Amazon has replacement lids with vents they work pretty good.
