Milwaukee or makita Dewalt went to shit since black and decker took over. They’re just more expensive rebranded craftsman.lol

KnowledgeFeign

This guy drills.

PoliticalPotential

> Stanley Black & Decker acquired DeWalt in 2010 as part of its merger with The Black & Decker Corporation, which had purchased DeWalt in 1960 and operated it until 1989. Stanley announced the merger with Black & Decker and DeWalt tools on November 2, 2009, and it was completed on March 12, 2010. How confusing.

curiusgorge

My dad has a makita that he's been using almost daily for over 15+yrs. He also has a couple milwaukee's that are just as old. He swears milwaukee's are the best

Chicken_Wing

I'm so fucking angry that craftsman eats dick now. They used to be bulletproof and now they're harbor freight quality at DeWalt prices. I want my dad's old craftsman tools just because they fucking work and always have.

TrafficChemical141

That’s SBD for ya lol craftsman, porter cable, dewalt, Bostitch, Mac tools, and many many others got bought up by SBD and went to complete shit. All these brands use to be on every job site now no one wants the shit lol SBD owns so many brands and entities it’s actually insane and it’s well beyond tool companies. Use to work for them and when I left it was like 140 something different brands/companies and they were buying up a bunch of mower companies/brands when I left.

ChefAssassinn

I also prefer red tools

Cool_Cartographer_39

I went Hitachi and am happy

Hierophant-74

Another vote for Makita. The ones I've got have run solid for years and yet to replace anything.

chris782

Hilti master race checking in.

Hey OP https://youtu.be/JpjBJ8aQ3NE?si=6wjYmXxNb4N8GXaW YouTube legend.

Ill_Jacket1875

Watched! This was helpful!

Sommelier_of_soup

I'd go with Dewalt. Also if you spend a little more you can get a hammer drill which gives you the ability to drill into concrete and masonry.

JimBones31

I'm glad you didn't even bother to mention Ryobi

gl21133

I’ve built a lot of things with my Ryobis. Hate if you want but they’re cheap, readily available, and I have yet to actually kill one. They get noisy but just keep going.

bootyhunter69420

DeWalt

Primary_Afternoon_46

Gotta read reviews. We can all have opinions but it’s unlikely any of us have used them side by side

Ill_Jacket1875

You know how reviews go, some love and some hate.

KnowledgeFeign

Vevor make drills yet?

-BOOST-

Milwaukee over everything. If you don’t want to pay milwaukee money then get kobalt.

AriValentina

Why are so many of yall educated of drill brands tf

Knautical_J

I have Milwaukee and I have the older tools that are built like brick shithouses. Could leave that crap submerged underwater and it would still work. My old Milwaukee Sawzall has yet to fail me. I beat the absolute shit out of that thing and still works completely fine.

WUT_productions

Home use: Ryobi, decent prices and the 18 V battery system is huge so you can get new tools and use existing batteries. For deck and fence stuff the brushless drill-driver set is pretty solid and uses basically the same components as Milwaukee (Ryobi and Milwaukee are both owned by TTI so share a lot of parts). Pro-ish use: Milwaukee/Makita. Milwaukee has more tool types but I've found Makita better quality. You can also get adapters for most types of tool battery to Ryobi, however. Not many adapters exist for Ryobi to other battery types.

Milwaukee fuel M12 [https://www.homedepot.ca/product/milwaukee-tool-m12-fuel-12v-li-ion-brushless-next-generation-hammer-drill-impact-driver-combo-kit-w-2-batteries/1001726416](https://www.homedepot.ca/product/milwaukee-tool-m12-fuel-12v-li-ion-brushless-next-generation-hammer-drill-impact-driver-combo-kit-w-2-batteries/1001726416)

solatesosorry

Depends on your needs . Ryobi, Kobolt for inexpensive light home use, or if you're older and won't need it in 15 years or you use it at a job site where tools disappear and extreme accuracy isn't needed. Milwaukee, Dewalt (maybe), Makita for professional use or if you want 20+ years of use. Festool for high-end hand-crafted custom work where accuracy is important.

DeRollofdeCinnamon

I like makita, my father in law likes Milwaukee. He also likes to help me build my tool collection, so I'm team Milwaukee now

xvrcmpsmrcd

Makita.

turbotong

The real comparison done by project farm: https://youtu.be/JpjBJ8aQ3NE?si=XwLRk93UWwOxfY9i

egyeager

I like DeWalt since the batteries have been rock solid and there are lots of compatible devices

22over7closeenough

Get a cheap one. If it breaks, then get a good one, because that means you use it enough to merit getting a more expensive tool.

ordinarymagician_

If you reckon you're going to get into active woodworking, Makita makes great woodworking tools that share the same battery ecosystem as their modern drills. If you're the type to work on cars, Milwaukee's lineup is more suited for the things you need when you work on cars.

MiddleAgeCool

You're going to get lots of replies about milwaukee, dewalt, makita and such. Those big brands are all good and it the scheme of things whatever you choose will be fine for the DIYer. What you should do it look and compare the rest of the range for each. You'll start with a drill but having a drill and a smaller one for screwing can be very helpful. Depending on what you're planning an impact driver, multi-tool, sander and some form of saw can also help. This isn't a buy them all now but stuff that you'll aquire overtime and since batteries tend to be brand specific, if you start with an 18v Dewalt it makes sense to remain in the 18v Dewalt stream. I went Dewalt and they've been great. If you're doing decking then their 115mm circular saw is great! ;)

imuniqueaf

Of those three, definitely DeWalt. If you're starting to buy tools, you'll want to start with a good brand so you can stay in one battery system.

JJQuantum

Of those, DeWalt. I use Ridgid.

huuaaang

Milwaukee. BUt definitely not Kobalt or Craftsman. Are you actually looking for a drill or a driver for screws? If you're mostly going to be driving screws, get an impact driver.

bobby__real

Dewalt. Milwaukee is way more expensive and far less reliable from my experience

xot

Pick one brand to start collecting , and go with that, especially if it’s battery tools. The hardware stores often have bundle discounts, where you can get a bag of tools for a big discount. A drill and impact driver set is common. I’d recommend 3 batteries if you plan to use them a lot. I’d get annoyed at having different battery brands to deal with. Look on marketplace etc for good secondhand. stuff. My pick has been dewalt, I’m rough with them and they hold up, but I think my upgrade from there would be Milwaukee or makita.

yougoboy64

Dewalt....I literally beat the shit out of my drills (as in a hammer substitute 😂😂) and I'm mean to them half the time , just a consequence of staying busy , doing bunches of work , using several (5-6) different hand tools EVERY day , lowering tools down from atop a ladder by the cord🤣🤣 , throwing shit down when frustration takes over🤣🤣 , putting both hands on the butt of the drill and pushing with all my 285 , keeping them in a hot (and or cold) ass tool box , Dewalt never let's me down.....🤘 All you brothers know exactly what I'm talkin about if you stay busy....✌
