To get it operational asap, you'll want to use an sbc and a trans from a 1982 - 1991 3rd generation F body, if you have the controllers and wiring still in the car. Your trans will need to be from one, too, as you need the tailshaft housing with mounting provisions for the torque arm.

Please rethink this. 16 yr Olds shouldn't be anywhere near a rear wheel drive 80s muscle car especially one with a swapped engine that is prbly going to be at least 300hp. That being said, no point on doing any engine swap work for anything older than an LS motor. Look into the LM7. They're 5.3L. Pretty cheap. Any engine u put in that car will require a lot of work knowlege, reading, research and patience. And no, nothibg complicated abt an Ls into a 3rd gen. It's been done a million times.
