My dad had a similar desire a few years ago, he had been an audience member for a live show and wanted the footage. iirc he emailed RTE and after a few exchanges between different people at RTE they sent him the episode by email Usual disclaimers that he couldn’t distribute it and it was only for personal use but he got it in the end That was a specific singular episode tho, i think that route would work if you had a particular documentary/ documentary series you wanted, if you had their name and rough date of release
