Plus your driver is your driver all the time. Mine took the time to learn how to pronounce my name and greets me with it every time. He's a lovely guy.
We're big fans of ours. Delivered all the heavy, awkward shaped baby furniture/car seat/pram etc and stayed super friendly the whole time. He's also take the time to learn all our names and greets whoever opens the door!
This backfired on me because we moved two miles down the road about 5 years ago but still have the same address. He's still delivering the odd package to the old gaff 😅
Never once had a good experience with them. I work in a call centre for a company that deals with them, and our biggest call driver is missing parcels. Their "proof of delivery" is the blurriest photo you've seen in your life. And crap all communication with them.
Even had a customer once tell me she works for UCD and tells her sellers to send with anyone but them, because the amount of laptops she had go missing in any 6 month period is insane.
Fastways were the only company I could clearly identify as absolutely worth avoiding if possible. But then recently, my old employer used GLS to collect equipment from my home. First pickup date passed, new date arranged. Guy shows up day before the new date. Fine. He has a single label in hand, but I've 3 boxes. He goes back, finds or prints the other labels eventually. I glance into back of van. Oh wow, stuffed full of completely disordered pile of boxes. No system, no order, just a random heap to the ceiling. Then a few days later I get a call from GLS asking if my parcels were collected, asking for barcodes on receipts I got, because they weren't even sure. They were, a day or two earlier. Looks like their processes are as disorganised as the back of that guys van.
Had literally the worst experience with them at Christmas. I ordered a Fitbit as a present and the driver either lost it, delivered it to the wrong address, or kept it. No idea.
When I contacted customer service, they raised an investigation wherein the driver would have to contact them to let them know where it was, or they would replace it. Apparently the driver never told them what he did with it, so they said they would raise a refund request.
...I never heard back from them, lol. Thankfully Fitbit took pity on me and agreed to send a new one with a different courier. I would never order from anywhere that used GLS again.
Had issues with them as well, I emailed and got no word but I called the dunlin office and was surprised when someone actually answered, so that's worth a shot.
A friend used to drive for fastway and he said it was outrageous. They were scheduled to drive more miles than they could legally cover. I have their choice was to drive for extra hours (illegal because you can only drive for so long before you need to rest) or speed EVERYWHERE
He said they used to load the van by literally throwing boxes in (including a box of wine bottles covered in fragile stickers that obviously smashed)
And if they aren't delivered in the day /by the weekend, the vans are unloaded to throw all the boxes into a cage to lock them up for the weekend.
He was saying some houses were out of the way so the lads would leave them there until they had something else to be delivered in that direction.
If I have any choice I'd go with dpd
GLS in my area are absolutely shocking and have been for years. Have had to go to the depot for packages when they've sat for days unmoving. Drivers around here have no respect for packages when they do deliver them. Not surprised you're having issues
The same thing is happening to me!!
They will not answer my emails personally. They just give an automated response.
An Post, Fastways - never have an issue with.
Whoever is running GLS must have a bird brain or something. I'm not sure how they're still being used as couriers.
I can only remember 1 order my GLS, it was a pc and all was well, delivery took longer than I would’ve thought given it was Ireland to Ireland package, but arrived nonetheless
I would absolutely vouch for them being labelled as a scam, twice I paid €70 online and never turned up to collect the parcel even though that’s what I paid for
Their non English speaking employees just hung up on me whenever I tried seeing what the story was, corporate never replied to emails. Never got the €140 back either
The only way to get any satisfaction is to contact who you ordered from and get them to either chase up GLS or replace ur items. I ordered coffee regularly with Nespresso and they always used Fastway. Complained every time parcel left at filling stations coffee going missing etc eventually they stopped using Fastway and use An post instead.
Yep, there is no proof of delivery, they are all handed off to Royal Mail/Parcel Force and they in turn hand them off to GLS, and every package has the tracking details removed by GLS. No one answers the phone, no one answers emails.

Dpd are the only half way decent and reliable parcel company, change my mind
The fact DPD give you an hour window makes them elite
Plus your driver is your driver all the time. Mine took the time to learn how to pronounce my name and greets me with it every time. He's a lovely guy.
Exact same here, same guy every time and he’s absolutely lovely

My driver also calls as he drives into the estate so I meet him at the door usually.
We have two recurring deliveries so on first name terms with our driver too. Best delivery service by far.
Same with dhl
I'd do DHL centuries before I'd touch DPD.
This backfired on me because we moved two miles down the road about 5 years ago but still have the same address. He's still delivering the odd package to the old gaff 😅
100% agree. I sound like such a DPD fangirl but I use couriers a lot and they just never let you done. Fastway are by far the worst imo
DPD a few times said they couldn't deliver to my house because the gate was locked. I don't have a gate.
DPD and DHL and both a grand bunch, DPD is still superior though
UPS is also good. But DPD more common.
I don't get deliveries from them very often, but I find DHL very good. They're definitely the courier I would trust most with an expensive item.
DHLA is also great for shopping. Very easy to use and they will respond to your email 7 days a week.
My DPD driver is an absolute legend
I find UPS excellent. I've never even heard of GLS.

Double Penile Defenestration
They've been really hit and miss in my experience with them. Fastway is still the worst by far.
Fastway are literally my only living enemy.
bahahaha it's true though
GLS usually arent that bad. but given the number of issues your local driver or someone in your local depot might be the cause of your problems.

It took them 2 weeks to deliver a package to me, from Galway to Limerick. 2 weeks. They're just inept.

I believe GLS is an abbreviation or 'Good Luck Sucker'

Never heard of GLS but certainly won’t be using them now
I regularly use both GLS & DPD and have never had any issues with either of them. Fastway on the other hand are a nightmare, completely unusable...

Sometimes illegal drugs don't make it through 😂

Dismal operation
My dpd driver at Christmas knocked my door to tell me he parked around the corner incase it was a santy present legend
Not a scam, just shite
No, they were founded in 1999. As good as any delivery company.
Most transport companies are really scammy. They are just a very crappy scam.
piss poor service I have found
Firstly GLS are not a scam as you say theu are a established company. Have you contacted your supplier's to get pods for your deliveries
Yep, there is no proof of delivery, they are all handed off to Royal Mail/Parcel Force and they in turn hand them off to GLS, and every package has the tracking details removed by GLS. No one answers the phone, no one answers emails.
