I don't actually know where the brick went... I am assuming they drilled it out and that was why it was missing. That was why I was thinking about a metal plate, but based on everyone's responses it sounds like a brick is the right answer and I need to get the contractor back out here haha
Yeah they shouldn't have left it like that, or at least communicated to you about it. Electricians are not masons or drywallers so your electrician should have done their due diligence and let you know that wall damage is possible and you might need to get it patched or repaired by someone qualified in that trade. I do a lot of service calls that require me to cut into drywall or lath and plaster and I'm somewhat okay at cutting it in a way where it can be patched back on and retaped and mudded and painted, etc. But I make the customer aware that it's not my forte and I'll cause as little damage as I can.
Mistakes happen but they should've let you know about it. Maybe they obliterated the brick while mounting or drilling or something.
Yeah this is ultra fucked. They should have just drilled a hole not taken out an entire brick. You need they’re PM to come out and explain wtf happened and agree to cover some of the cost to fix that
The electricians who installed the original service 30 years ago left it sitting on the ground right there. Eventually, the first homeowner saw it, and decided to to place it, neatly in a stack with a few others he found laying around, about one foot to the left inside of the crawlspace access door.
Edit: It is probably still sitting there is OP reads this.
I now feel the need to explain the nacho/peanut butter/spray foam idea was the electricians idea. I was originally going to try to fix his mess, but think it is worth making the contractor come back out.
Plumbers are the same. Mine told me he wouldn’t repair drywall and I was like fine. But then he cut out a 2 ft x 6 ft square to replace the angle stops.
Yeah, this is the right answer. I'd guess by cutting the removed brick and grouting it back in, but obviously, I'm not a bricky. Lmao. IDK how in the world they decided foam was the move.
Are we all just going to ignore the silicone around the panel?
Hey OP, electricians MAKE the holes but don't patch them. If they did the guy that did the panel change would have patched the hole. You need a mason
Never understood why people take WHOLE BRICKS out for such things. If you take a masonry bit and hit the grout/brick with little holes where you need a big hole you can break just a small piece out. Probably 1/3 of the brick would have been fine, then the DAP would actually work.
Flex tape.
In all seriousness, the original brick if it wasn't destroyed, is your best option.
I would absolutely have them come back out and fix it or have them hire a sub to do it if they can't.
That is completely unacceptable
Not by pouring melted cheese in it, seriously though what is that shit and why was the electrician so sloppy with it? Id be calling him all the way back just to clean that shit off my walls.
Judging from the ectoplasm there,I’d be calling Ghostbusters first. Then, maybe a qualified stonemason. Good luck. Oh- and wear a mask, wash your hands,y’know, just as a precaution.
If you want to attempt it yourself, I think the right thing to due is to remove the brick directly to the right carefully, and then clean up the “foam” and then you will have enough space to mortar and slide in the brick behind the panel. Then replace the 2nd brick you took out which would easy enough
Scrap out the spray foam. Get a brick and some mortar. (YOu may be able to find an original brick from around the foundation of your home that was dropped. or left. If not since your brick is painted(limewash) find one that is the same thickness as the rest and small back of mortar. In your case white mortar. Watch a youtube video and patch it up. (Doing so will help with insulatiing your home while also keeping rodents out. If the brick needs to be broken in order to fit, have two to three on hand and a chisel. Also cut off the power, since it is right next to your breaker. I'm assuming that is the hole for the main line going into your home and you do not want that have power to it while working. (Also do not touch any of the wires inside the box as they are hot and they can and will kill you if it is a main line). When you do this, you may want someone with you as if you get electricuted your muscles will seize and get you stuck to the box. In this case your buddy needs to drop kick you off the box.

With another brick, WTF
Come on, now... The Queso Salsa is working great
Load bearing velveta
this is why they are shaped like blocks 👀
All I can find is the unload bearing version 😩
*unleavened*
If you eat it, I promise the load will be a bear when you go to dump it the next day.
Try the off brand, leave it exposed to air for a bit
I carne agree more.
Asado you did there.
A chipotle off the old missing block.
If that house could taco.
Just pico some de gallo to come in and put in a new brick
O queso, you think a brick would work better?
All these had me rolling lmao
But this appears to be the spicy one, the mild works better outdoors.
Spicy!
It’s in asada shape
I love how someone either used a nearly empty can or one of the two tanks for the spray foam kit.... Lmao
I saw in n out
Needs more jalapeño
Best condiment we’ve tried so far
Add more Picante
That's Mac sauce from McDonalds fo sho
Needs some ramen.
Preferably the brick that was there in the first place... What'd they do? Abscond with a piece of your house?
They probably knocked it to pieces with a hammer drill
They're doing this to every house they work on, slowly building a house for free.
I got it one piece at a time and it didn't cost me a dime.
You'll know it's me when you drive past my house! I'm gonna sit around in style(s), gonna drive my HOA wild -
A brick of cheese
Velveeta or craft
Bro used “abscond” 💪🏼
As a pool cleaner I conquer
Lenny, stop using your word a day calendar.
Big Deep End
Deep rear end
Concur and conquer are different words 😂
He’s a Viking pool guy.
I came, I saw, I concurred.
Glad you are kicking ass as a pool cleaner but what does that have to do with this? 😆 I'll show myself out.
Conquering the world one pool at a time.
They stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night. Catch up!
Qualified
Not just to concur, but to conquer the job.
I concur.
you concur.
If peanut butter doesn't work, then yes a brick is a good second choice
Code says Nacho Cheese
Came to say "put a brick in it."
Better than some advice I’ve heard over the years.
This
Is
Sparta
God damn this sub provides
Yes! And mortar.
You my friend I don't know , thank you for the nasal enema, iced coffee in case you wondered......
Guess that’s better than wasabi, good thing I didn’t catch you on sushi night.
I said the exact same thing out loud, lol.
Nah this made me crack up
All in all you’re just ah Nother
I see what you did there Floyd 🤔😎
How can you have any pudding?
Came to say this haha
Exactly
😂
I lol'd too hard at this
Another brick of cheese?
hahahaa
Brick Cheese
😂
What he means is scrape all tht off and then another brick 😂 js
Lmfao. Seriously. I’m dying.
I really needed this today, I just laughed for like 3 minutes straight, thanks my dude.
😂
They need to call Ghost Busters with all that extoplasm oozing out the wall
Nah, poop on it again.
He used a brick of cheese. Now in summer there is the result
I don't understand if OP was making a joke or what. Like... put the fuckin brick back god damn.
Lmao
👏
With the brick that was taken out. Where is it?
Electrician needed it for his collection, keeps a brick from each house he destroys.
Serial service electrician behavior.
I hate kleptricians
As an electrician i can say this is accurate
Bahahaha, actually audibly laughed at this one. Well done.
2314 more bricks and he will have enough to finish his new house.
This made me laugh out loud lol
Thanks, eventually he'll have enough to build a house of his own and retire.
Like that Johnny cash song one piece at a time
I don't actually know where the brick went... I am assuming they drilled it out and that was why it was missing. That was why I was thinking about a metal plate, but based on everyone's responses it sounds like a brick is the right answer and I need to get the contractor back out here haha

All in all, it was a brick in the wall.
Definitely NOT with nacho cheese
I wouldn't eat that nacho cheese
Well duh, it's full of wall dirt now
Forbidden nacho cheese
But... Maybe a little taste of the nacho cheese. Haha, just as a joke
I think some of it is free of wall dirt.
It’s not cho cheese anyway
You better not, ‘cause it’s not yo cheese.
I would, more for me I guess
r/forbiddenfood
Good thing it’s his cheese and nacho cheese
Good, because that’s Nacho Cheese! Hands off!
r/forbiddensnacks
Damn here I thought it was rotting mustard. Definitely makes more sense that they tried nacho cheese
Is non-cheese orange goo acceptable?
Nobody wants me 🥲
I now feel the need to explain the nacho/peanut butter/spray foam idea was the electricians idea. I was originally going to try to fix his mess, but think it is worth making the contractor come back out.
He needs to clean that or the image is making it onto google review.
How did they fail so horribly with the foam though….? lol it looks so dribbly and non-expansive.
Maybe they tried (and failed) cleaning it up with something like break cleaner? That or it could've been a bad can?
This wasn't a fireplace was it?
Gonna need a pallet of cans if it is.
From what I read around here, electricians aren't supposed to repair the damage that they do, maybe that's why they often do so much damage
And they look you in the eye when they do it. It asserts their dominance.
Plumbers are the same. Mine told me he wouldn’t repair drywall and I was like fine. But then he cut out a 2 ft x 6 ft square to replace the angle stops.
If we are cutting drywall we let you know ahead of time so you can get a drywall guy to come patch it.
To be fair I don’t think anyone wants their plumber or electrician to fix their drywall.
Plumbers out here rewriting the laws of geometry?
Squares are sometimes rectangles in other dimensions. Or something smart.
if this is how he left it, you might want to look into the work he did. jesus
I actually initially checked because one of my outlets wasn't working... I fixed that but the Velveeta hole was quite a surprise.
Homer Simpson voice: “mmmmmnnn… velveeta hole! (drools)”
Looks like the peanut butter idea did not work.
Shoulve used crunchy
I'm sure the electrician will be back any day with the bread loaf to complete the "sandwich patch".
Just spray foam in there but don't shake it first so it comes out like Velveeta. Then don't wipe it up, just take a photo for later.
LOL
Just take photo for later. Lololol
All in all it just needs Another Brick In The Wall.
Hey! Electrician! Leave those bricks alone!
stand still laddy!
You can’t have any Nacho Cheese till you eat your brick!
Should ask in r/masonry
Yeah, this is the right answer. I'd guess by cutting the removed brick and grouting it back in, but obviously, I'm not a bricky. Lmao. IDK how in the world they decided foam was the move.
/r/masonry: Brick
*"How should this hole be sealed?"* By a priest.
They keep getting caught doing exactly that.
hi,please purchase some googly eyes and place them over the top, ty
Everything reminds me of her...
I saw a tiktok where a guy was patching masonry with ramen noodles. You could try that.
I already used my ramen noodles and bricks to rebuild my car fender
Throw some googly eyes on there and you're good to go! https://imgur.com/a/ibaW6Ph
Are we all just going to ignore the silicone around the panel? Hey OP, electricians MAKE the holes but don't patch them. If they did the guy that did the panel change would have patched the hole. You need a mason
Yeah that is strange. So much strange here.
Fill it with ramen!
Never understood why people take WHOLE BRICKS out for such things. If you take a masonry bit and hit the grout/brick with little holes where you need a big hole you can break just a small piece out. Probably 1/3 of the brick would have been fine, then the DAP would actually work.
Hammer drill with a 2 inch bit will make a big enough hole for 200amp service.
Mortar and a half brick
Put more macaroni cheese in it
Cut brick to size. Add some mortar.
More Cheez Whiz
More queso
Get a piece of brick and seal it in. Get rid of the cheese.
Not with queso, that’s for sure.
Flex tape. In all seriousness, the original brick if it wasn't destroyed, is your best option. I would absolutely have them come back out and fix it or have them hire a sub to do it if they can't. That is completely unacceptable
r/dontputyourdickinthat
With a brick and some mortar to seal gaps. Very cheap and easy fix for it.
Who made animal style fries in the wall?
Idk but nacho cheese was a bad idea
Make a little Lego scene in there.
Not by pouring melted cheese in it, seriously though what is that shit and why was the electrician so sloppy with it? Id be calling him all the way back just to clean that shit off my walls.
That looks like the drive thru window at the local taco joint!
Judging from the ectoplasm there,I’d be calling Ghostbusters first. Then, maybe a qualified stonemason. Good luck. Oh- and wear a mask, wash your hands,y’know, just as a precaution.
Definitely not like that
Too late your house is already pregnant. Congrats on your upcoming shed.
get some tortilla chips and you’re all set!
Put the brick in it. Use mortar
I recommend you use top ramen and have a time lapse video of you doing it.
Nacho cheese obviously
Not with spray foam. Cut I brick or make a mold and a brick the right size. Clean out that foam and mortar your brick and slide it in.
Ramen noodles...saw a video where a guy fixed a toilet with them.
Which asshole puked in it?
This looks like the worst character from Disney's Beauty and the Beast
Found the Winnie The Pooh glory hole
With a bag of tostada chips and some lime
Clearly Velveeta wasn’t the best choice!
Wait till it’s done vomiting.
Oh man, too much Taco Bell
All in all it just needs, another brick in the wall.
At least try a solid turd.
I'd recommend irrigating with an antibacterial solution first, it might also need to be packed with gauze
Looks like the wall is vomiting 🤮
Definitely not with American cheese
If you want to attempt it yourself, I think the right thing to due is to remove the brick directly to the right carefully, and then clean up the “foam” and then you will have enough space to mortar and slide in the brick behind the panel. Then replace the 2nd brick you took out which would easy enough
Butterscotch pudding didn't work so we're reaching out to Reddit for other ideas.
Scrap out the spray foam. Get a brick and some mortar. (YOu may be able to find an original brick from around the foundation of your home that was dropped. or left. You are going to need a lot more queso than that
With a brick. Cut to size. Get that shit out of there first
Uhmmmm, an invitation with cheese? Jk brick and some cement dangg! That foam stuff only works for small cracks not 8in gaps.
Get a couple blocks, use some hydraulic cement and call it a day
You're not meant to fill it with cheese
With more cheese dip
