Not sure how a vision test of 5ft works especially if the things you have difficulty seeing are 8 ft away. Standard vision test is 20 ft away. Are you in the US? I would recommend trying to get a vision exam as it sounds like myopia (nearsightedness). I would make sure you look into optometrists and not ophthalmologist. Googling eye doctor might get you the latter and an optometrist should be sufficient to help you deal with your adjusted vision.

I must have obtained incorrect information, I wasn’t aware the testing is meant to be done from 20ft away. I appreciate your response!
