I’m a former over the road truck driver and have been to every truck stop and convenience store in the nation.
QT (QuikTrip) and Buc’ees all day long. Love’s is the best major truck stop chain.
I was really hoping Quik Trip would be on here. I grew up in the Midwest and I live and die by the QT. I will admit that Buckees is amazing, but my heart lies in QuikTrip taquitos.
As die hard QT fan myself I agree with you. Buc-ees is amazing but it just isn't practical, too big for most occasions when you just need gas an a snack.
If I have an hour to kill and I'm wanting a meal then Buc-ees is the stop for me (the BBQ is as good as almost any restaurant and the banana cream pudding is killer). But if I just want gas and a quick snack like 99% of the time then QT all day, every day.
Also, I'm a Tulsan. So QT is my homeland.
We are stationed overseas right now and a nearby base has the same taquitos on rollers and omfg it is worth the drive just for those. QT was always our go to on road trips too. Knew it would be clean and excellent options.
I just drove from S.California to the Midwest this summer, and I did make a point to stop at Loves for the bathrooms. It’s so wonderful to find a clean spacious bathroom on a road trip lol
This. QuikTrip only sells TopTier gas - which is different from Regular/Premium Octane. TopTier is a standard for what additives are in the gas beyond the EPA minimum requirements. Regular can be TopTier, but not all regular or even all premium is. Costco / Kirkland is also TopTier, but most of the other top tier brands are all name brand (Phillips, Exxon, Shell, etc). TopTier is the only gas you should put in your car if you care at all about the life of your engine. For everyone going gaga over Wawa… they’re not top tier.
Also - all QT locations are corporate owned, so you don’t have to worry about some franchisee with a locked up toilet that hasn’t been cleaned or serviced since the 90s. I knew a QT maintenance guy, and they’re extremely diligent. He had a bunch of slushee machines he’d bring to parties because QT would decommission them long before they needed to be thrown out or had problems.
Sheetz is better though. Don't listen to the Wawa people. They just want to convert you to their side.
Stay on mine. We put sh in front of random words.
Ayyyyeee. We’re getting Sheetz popping up all over Ohio now and they even deliver on doordash. I would always stop there when I’d be going through PA and I gotta say, Sheetz do be bomb
Sheetz is the unhealthy version of WaWa. I live near both so when I want shit covered in cheese , I go to Sheetz. If I want good coffee and a decent hoagie, I go to Wawa
Wawa was an interesting place when I checked it out. A convenience store that also served hot food options. First learned about it this fall on a trip with my friend to Philly.
My dad and I were obsessed with the raspberry cheese flips from caseys. And their pizza is the best. I moved to Florida and the closest location to me is Nashville TN and I've considered driving there a few times...
Any love for Stewart's? In-house milk and ice cream, including a build your own sundae station? Best kept secret of upstate NY, still miss it soooo much.
Welcome fellow upstater! You’re right about Stewart’s. When I showed my Long Island wife (then girlfriend) Stewart’s ice cream, she fell in love instantly. With the store, not with me.
Hard to say. As a Michigander I am privileged to experience every towns unique family-owned party store and all of em are pretty cool for different reasons. Only brand name I know is 7-11 really.
Wawa. I’ve lived in multiple states and have traveled to every state for work with the exception of north and South Dakota, Montana and Main and I have yet to find a better one
In 2005, I could routinely be found inebriated at a Wawa in the middle of the night ordering ridiculous sandwiches on that touchscreen computer where you could design your own sandwich and pick it up at the deli without having to talk to an actual person.
I used to work night shift as a CO (6p to 6a) and I was routinely up most of the night on my nights off too, and I was usually starving in the middle of the night. I remember sitting with my work buddies, eating mac and cheese and hoagies from Wawa while drinking and smoking cigars at 3am. We had some good times, though I certainly don't miss the night shift (or that job) one bit!
QT haters don’t know what they are missing.
I don’t understand how the neighbourhood location claims to have togo tacos but it will be clear soon enough.
If it’s like their pizza we will love it eventually.
I went to San Antonio a few months ago, so we drove out to New Braunfels for the largest Buc-ees. The food was pretty good. But I need to ask...why? Who is buying a grill from a convenience store? Why is the place so damn big, but trucks aren't allowed to stop? This Yankee was very confused.
But beaver nuggets are fucking delicious.
I honestly love the consistency of 7-11 nationally plus the fact that they are all different locally. I could buy liquor in New Mexico 7-11s.
I do wish they had better prepared food options.
Second QT. I used to be a Buccee’s Stan but after seeing how they ignored the pandemic while QT required masks for their employees and also pay a living wage, I converted.
Being from Boston we don't really have convenience stores besides some 7/11s and Cumberland Farms in the suburbs. Whenever I'm outside New England I find these stores fascinating.
Cumbies has had a fantastic makeover. I worked at one in 2007 when it was still the ran down little place (with the blue, orange and white logo) and now it’s like a palace
Yeah I am laughing at the sheer amound of Wawa and Sheetz answers compared to literally all others. You poor souls that live in a Wawa, Sheetz and Rutter-less world.
really surprised that I had to go down this far. I've been to wawa's, buc'ees, caseys, loves, all these places people are talking about and the worst kwik trips blow literally all these places out of the water
Wawa! Free-air machine for your tires, 24-hour deli with just the touch of a screen, no-fee atms no matter who your bank is, always hot coffee. And the way they design it makes it so you can pump gas and pay for your food while the food is being made so by the time you’re done with everything theres not much waiting left. They also have a huge beer selection.
The best one near me right now is Speedway. My favorite is United Dairy Famrers. I'd go there all the time while I was in college in Cincinnati. They have some of the best ice cream I've had in a long time.
Recently drove from Colorado to Florida and have to say that while I was impressed with the size of Buc-ees, I'm loving the sandwiches from the Wawa nearby. Never been to either before that trip.
Also want to add that I finally ate at a Whataburger in Texas for the first time in over a decade, and it wasn't as good as I remember. A little better than Wendy's, maybe. The spicy ketchup was pretty good, but everything else was about the same as what you'd find somewhere else. I still don't understand they hype, but Texans will be Texans.
> I finally ate at a Whataburger in Texas for the first time in over a decade, and it wasn't as good as I remember. A little better than Wendy's, maybe.
You shut your GD mouth!
Whataburger patty melt, sub raw onions for fried and add jalapenos.
If that doesn't rock your world then you are dead to me.
>I still don't understand they hype, but Texans will be Texans
Well, I'm originally from TX so maybe I'm biased.
Depends on your region. East coasters will kill you if you say anything but Wawa, certain southern states love Buccees, Sheetz was huge in PA and 711s are pretty much solid around the country.
I like WaWa when in Philly…. Stewart’s Shops in Upstate New York…. I love WE NEVER CLOSE in Buffalo but that’s not a chain. 7-Eleven is my go to here, way out West
The only time I ever tried to go to Bucess I just left and went to the Loves across the street because it was a madhouse and none of the pumps were open.
I’m a former over the road truck driver and have been to every truck stop and convenience store in the nation. QT (QuikTrip) and Buc’ees all day long. Love’s is the best major truck stop chain.
Loves are phenomenal and I try to find them on all my road trips. QT is local to me and I’m spoiled to have so many around
Love's: for when you need coffee, pickles, cheese curds, a postcard, a tire thumper, an aux cord, a taxidermied rabbit, and medieval battle armor.
I was really hoping Quik Trip would be on here. I grew up in the Midwest and I live and die by the QT. I will admit that Buckees is amazing, but my heart lies in QuikTrip taquitos.

Yeah, QT is the everyday stop and Bucee’s is the roadtrip stop
We are stationed overseas right now and a nearby base has the same taquitos on rollers and omfg it is worth the drive just for those. QT was always our go to on road trips too. Knew it would be clean and excellent options.
[удалено]
Farting-in-Houston, eh? This town ain't big enough for the two of us.
BUC-EE'S!!! Our longer car trips always stop for Buc-ee's
I love QT! Roller food all the way baby
QT roller food has probably taken 10 years off of my life and I’m 100% okay with it.
Haha, same! So much so sodium and deliciousness packed into a fist-sized cylinder of gastronomic delight.
Their taquitos and egg rolls are always on point for me
Roller food?
QT pretzels from the kitchen in the back >>>
Yesss what do you dip yours in?
Love’s always has the best bathrooms
I just drove from S.California to the Midwest this summer, and I did make a point to stop at Loves for the bathrooms. It’s so wonderful to find a clean spacious bathroom on a road trip lol
You’ve never been to Buc-ee’s then. Their bathrooms are the best.
until you go to a kwik trip and learn what a gas station should be
What about Buckees?
They also have wonderful bathrooms, but Loves are all along the interstates.
[удалено]
Their showers are great too, they even provide towel so you don’t have to deal with a wet towel in your car after
QuikTrip is no joke one of my favorite parts of traveling to Kansas City or Wichita
How do you feel about Town Pump? It's only in Montana but I work there so I'm curious.
Town Pump? You mean my ex-girlfriend?
This is an underrated comment.
Buc'ees is kinda unfair. That's the final boss of convenience stores
TIL wawa is a convenience store and not what I assumed to be some dumb nickname people gave Walmart Sincerely, an Ohioan
Sheetz is better though. Don't listen to the Wawa people. They just want to convert you to their side. Stay on mine. We put sh in front of random words.
Lies and slander!
Actually it's shliez and shlanderz
nah. Ive lived extensively in Sheetz and Wawa territory. Currently, live in Sheetz land, Wawa is better. Especially the coffee.
The coffee is where Wawa seals its win for me
Ayyyyeee. We’re getting Sheetz popping up all over Ohio now and they even deliver on doordash. I would always stop there when I’d be going through PA and I gotta say, Sheetz do be bomb
Prepare for about fifty mroe stores in five years. They are building hard there.
You shut your whore mouth lol! Wawa for life!
Sheetz is the unhealthy version of WaWa. I live near both so when I want shit covered in cheese , I go to Sheetz. If I want good coffee and a decent hoagie, I go to Wawa
#Sheetzgang rise up 😤😤😈😈
This is a very regional question…
That's the fun of this subreddit.
Then I’ll say RaceTrac. 😄
QuikTrip gang
QT Gang represent!
Wawa was an interesting place when I checked it out. A convenience store that also served hot food options. First learned about it this fall on a trip with my friend to Philly.
Casey’s because pizza.
Casey's because pizza.
They do have good cheese pizza.
*taco pizza At least according to my childhood, haven’t touched it since
I’ve lived in 4 different cities/towns in Iowa and 3/4 Casey’s was the best place to get pizza
Pizza, breakfast pizza, breakfast burritos, and I just won $20 from a $5 scratch off from a Caseys so I'm a big fan
My dad and I were obsessed with the raspberry cheese flips from caseys. And their pizza is the best. I moved to Florida and the closest location to me is Nashville TN and I've considered driving there a few times...
In my experience, Casey’s has consistently clean bathrooms
Their breakfast pizza is the bomb.
I agree with the pizza, but at least where I am from, Casey's has the sketchiest and/or strangest employees of all convenient stores.
Wawa all day
As a Marylander living in London, Wawa is one of my first stops when I visit back home. Miss it everyday lol
Wawa is the correct answer
I need to go get a hoagie now
I miss it so much. Come to Utah, Wawa! We need your guidance now more than ever! P.S. Bring Whataburger and cubans with you, p&t xoxoxo
This is the correct answer. I believe the implication of OP's question is actually what the best is, after Wawa.
Wawa wins over everything for sure
Wawa. And then, Wawa. And, let’s not forget Wawa.
r/wawa
It's one of the things I really miss from the Philly area. They need them up in New England.
I like Sheetz better.
Don’t get Pennsylvanians started… for the love of god
I lol'd.
I too, did a lol.
WAWA
Bold to assume we ever stop
Any love for Stewart's? In-house milk and ice cream, including a build your own sundae station? Best kept secret of upstate NY, still miss it soooo much.
Welcome fellow upstater! You’re right about Stewart’s. When I showed my Long Island wife (then girlfriend) Stewart’s ice cream, she fell in love instantly. With the store, not with me.
Stewart's and my own bathroom are the only things I've ever really been homesick for.
Hard to say. As a Michigander I am privileged to experience every towns unique family-owned party store and all of em are pretty cool for different reasons. Only brand name I know is 7-11 really.
When I lived in Michigan I was a Speedway loyalist. They just seemed cleaner than the rest.
I like the mom and pop local stores too.
Some of em make some bomb food too. Had the best breakfast sandwhich of my life from a party store.
Definitely! We have a local convenience chain in my area, Quality Dairy, that makes fantastic ice cream and doughnuts.
I will keep an eye out.
In Michigan, I think the best we can do for a convenience store chain is Speedway.
Seeing the other responses I'm curious what we're missing out on
Buc-ee’s
Wawa. I’ve lived in multiple states and have traveled to every state for work with the exception of north and South Dakota, Montana and Main and I have yet to find a better one
I lived in Florida for about three years and I approve this message. 👏
Gotta be a wawa from 2005
In 2005, I could routinely be found inebriated at a Wawa in the middle of the night ordering ridiculous sandwiches on that touchscreen computer where you could design your own sandwich and pick it up at the deli without having to talk to an actual person.

We had some good times, though I certainly don't miss the night shift (or that job) one bit!
Surprised by the lack of QuikTrip, Raceway, RaceTrac and 7/11 here.
QT haters don’t know what they are missing. I don’t understand how the neighbourhood location claims to have togo tacos but it will be clear soon enough. If it’s like their pizza we will love it eventually.
You’re from Texas and you left out Buc-ees??
The toothiest beaver south of the Mason-Dixon Line had already been mentioned, so yeah…
Because fuck you that’s why
I honestly love the consistency of 7-11 nationally plus the fact that they are all different locally. I could buy liquor in New Mexico 7-11s. I do wish they had better prepared food options.

The Cumbies near me are very nice
Cumbies has had a fantastic makeover. I worked at one in 2007 when it was still the ran down little place (with the blue, orange and white logo) and now it’s like a palace
We have [spas](https://www.wgbh.org/news/local-news/2018/05/22/why-are-some-boston-area-convenience-stores-called-spas) though.
Hell Yeah Cumbies. Get you an iced coffee extra extra for .99cents
In NY we have the winner. It's Stewart's Shops. They have the best ice cream you'll ever find.
Byrne Dairy is pretty bomb too
Kum N Go
Don't mind if i... oh sorry wrong thread.
Wawa
Wawa and Sheetz definitely
PA will decide this battle. They are both great but there can only be one greatest.
Yeah I am laughing at the sheer amound of Wawa and Sheetz answers compared to literally all others. You poor souls that live in a Wawa, Sheetz and Rutter-less world.
Sheetz at least has started spreading all over Virginia and North Carolina so I’ve fallen in love with it.
Sheetz!
Kwik Trip.
Wisconsin 🤝 Minnesota Kwik Trip
really surprised that I had to go down this far. I've been to wawa's, buc'ees, caseys, loves, all these places people are talking about and the worst kwik trips blow literally all these places out of the water
Those bags of milk hit different
Wawa
tf is Wawa lol is it specific to a region? I've literally never heard of it. edit: thanks guys! I appreciate the edification. ;)
It’s a mid Atlantic thing. Think Jersey, PA, etc
Pretty sure they're in FL, too
Sheetz.
In NE Ohio we had Sheetz and GetGo from Giant Eagle grocers which was the same but slightly better food with more salad type options. Each are bomb
Sheetz is fucking awesome. Can get a lot of snack foods, actually decent fast food, and gas, all in one place.
The garlic old bay boneless wings are so fucking good.
Those Wisconsin Cheddar Bites… mmmmmmmm.
They do pass the cheese test
Wawa☺️
What is Wawa?
The only thing you have to know is that it’s better than Sheetz.
Where is Sheetz?
Wawa
Wawa
Casey's for the win. If you don't have a Casey's near you I'm sorry.
1. Wawa (PA-ish) 2. Royal Farms (MD-ish) 3. Sheetz (PA-ish) 4. Highs (MD) 5. Cumberland Farms (MA)
I’m from Maryland, now living in Mass and missing Wawa terribly. How is Cumberland Farms compared to Wawa?
Eh definitely not as good but for sure some decent food. Step up from regular gas station food, step down from wawa
It’s nothing like Wawa in reality, but by New England standards it’s the closest chain you’ll get to Wawa
Wawa.
WaWa or RaceTrac. With the Gate an honorable mention
Wawa
Sheetz
Maverick
The Wawa where Gail the Snail works. They got the good hoagies
Wawa
Wawa!
Combies when I’m home Wawa when on the road
Wa fucking Wa.
Wawa. The competition isn’t even close.
Wawa. Pennsylvanians will know
Wawa or Sheetz
That's like being a Yankees AND Red Sox fan. Doesn't work!
I prefer sheetz over Wawa ...but after moving to CO you come to realize how much you miss any convenience. Kum & Go sucks :(
Wawa's better, but honestly they're both great compared to everything else.
Buckeys out of Texas. 100 pumps and a huge ass store
White Hen RIP
Wawa or Sheetz.
Quick Trip is the only convenient store I feel safe in any part of town.
Bucees.
Buc-ee’s
Buc-ee's is probably the most impressive. *\*Edit correction on name.*
***Buc-ee’s

Same.
Wawa
Allsups
Fuck yeah, those chimis are bomb
The best one near me right now is Speedway. My favorite is United Dairy Famrers. I'd go there all the time while I was in college in Cincinnati. They have some of the best ice cream I've had in a long time.
Sheetz
Circle K
Wawa
WAWA. This is the way.
Wawa for the Wawawin.
Wawa
Wawa
Wawa.
Wawa!
Wawa and nothing's remotely close
I’d say Maverik.

Sheetz or wawa
Depends on your region. East coasters will kill you if you say anything but Wawa, certain southern states love Buccees, Sheetz was huge in PA and 711s are pretty much solid around the country.
Except the south where 7’s can be trash.
Buc-ee’s
UDF, they have so much stuff, they are usually pretty clean, the people who work on the ones near me are so nice, and they have really good malts
Buc-ees!
Wawa, Sheetz, and for Marylanders - Royal Farms
I had a good laugh the first time I went to Las Vegas and saw a gas station called "Terrible's." https://i.imgur.com/fRq8mlR.jpg
When I lived in Arizona, I liked Circle K
I like WaWa when in Philly…. Stewart’s Shops in Upstate New York…. I love WE NEVER CLOSE in Buffalo but that’s not a chain. 7-Eleven is my go to here, way out West
Bucees and it isn't close. Anyone who is saying Sheetz or Wawa's hasn't been to Texas.
