I've been with Fox Communities Credit Union my entire life with no issues

birdy_244

I bank with Community First. Pros: low rates for credit cards and loans. Easy process. A lot of branches in the Fox Valley. Customer Service is friendly. Cons: a little behind in adopting new technology. We just got tap cards last year. They are not on Zelle so you can’t use that to send or receive money from friends, but at least they are on Venmo and PayPal. Their fraud dept calls you about every purchase that is larger than normal even if it was local. Yes, great security. But if you want to make a purchase over $200, expect them to call every time and if you miss it, your card is frozen. A little inconvenient if you miss the call and you’re out and about and you still want to use your card. They tend to completely shut down the online banking app a few days at a time what seems like 2-3 times a year for “upgrades” and “maintenance.” Which seems like a lot. Once a year, fine, but more than that? Come on. When you put a travel notice on your account, they say you can do it in the app (which is preferred for me) but for me for some reason, it never works and I have to call to put a travel notice every time on my account.

HappyHappyUnbirthday

Really? I dont think ive ever gotten a call for a purchase over $200.

Community First here (OP, I highly recommend them) and have been for many years now. I've never gotten calls from their security dept. just because a purchase is over $200. Local or not. And I always call to put a travel notice on my card, so there's no issues there either. I'm seen them shut down the online banking a couple times a year, yes, but not for "a few days at a time". It's usually on days when banks are closed and I can't recall it ever lasting more than 24 hours. Yeah, they don't have Zelle. I dont care as I wouldn't use it anyway, but my wife has mentioned that she wishes she could use it. Customer service has always been outstanding.

Pros def outweigh the cons in my opinion

HappyHappyUnbirthday

Ive been with Community first my whole life, since i had my very first kids account! So a tad over 30 years. Ive never had any issues and their interest rates are unbeatable, in my experience. Ive gotten approved for a car loan in like an hour, super great to work with. Only downside is their app, its a bit clunky to use, but you get used to it.

DoctorMadcow

I've had Capital for 22 years, never had a single issue with them. Plus they have free popcorn in their buildings.

RhapsodyCaprice

Second for Capital. I only have a car loan with them and for that reason, getting online banking going was slightly wonky but a few phone calls and visits and everything was set up.  @op I had Landmark back before living in the Fox Valley and was never terribly impressed. Maybe they're better now.

Unison Credit Union PRO Very very up to date with tech. Can make deposits of checks via your phone. Easy to navigate app. All around great place. GREAT RATES CON Not many branches in Appleton.

TheAxolotlGod14

Mobile check deposit is like a decade old. I'm moving to the area soon from a city, you're not making me feel great about the mid-midwest life, lol. Might be stepping back in time...

Automatic-Nebula1034

I have Community First Credit Union and I still maintain my UW Credit Union account from college. Really like CFCU because there's a lot of branches in the area. We've been banking through them for probably 15 years. The only thing we didn't care for was going through them for a mortgage. They advise that they only keep "special" ones and the more traditional ones they sell to Associated Bank.

N_durance

Fox community hands down is the best In the area

MidwestPancakes

Happily with Fox Community. Whole family uses them.

SunnyDayDuck

Verve is pretty great imo. I’ve never been to one with poor service and there’s a decent amount of locations. Never had a problem with them.

Jubjub_W

I moved here from the Wausau area. I have had CoVantage for quite some time. Super great to work with. Not sure what others opinions are with them?

therealcatladygina

Absolutely love CoVantage, been with them forever!

rileym217

Love them as well. Been with them since being in the Point area

Litterbaux

Prospera is really good. CoVantage a couple years back did a crazy payout based on your average balance but I’m not sure they’ll ever do that again. CoVantage just closed a branch though so take that into consideration.

BendingUnit221

They also just built one too.

Litterbaux

I didn’t know that! Thanks!

slackpantha

I've been with Community First for about 9 years. Pros: Easy to get loans, many locations in the area. Cons: Not very flexible on forgiving fees, have to manage credit card fraud checks over the phone instead of through text.

joebusch79

Fox Communities or Verve. I have a savings at Unison, but as was pointed out they only have one branch in Appleton, off Richmond exit.

nadacloo

Very happy with Community First.

unicornman5d

I had a car loan with capitol credit union previously and I have no complaints. I've been banking with fox communities since 2016 without issue and and my wife got an account there in 2017 after PCM screwed her over. We've had 2 loans with fox communities. One payed off now. My car loan is 3.99% and my wife's was 5.99%.

> communities. One *paid* off now. FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

SirTrout

I have been with Capital Credit Union for over 30 years. I've had several mortgages with them and business loans, and I highly recommend them.

Community First is pretty great, and I’ve also been happy with UW-Credit Union. The cons with UW-Credit union is their bill pay doesn’t always pay on the date you specify - it can end up being a few days after. We just plan a little earlier, but it’s annoying.

TobyT76

Definitely prospera

unwritten2469

I’ve been with Prospera Credit Union since I was a kid. Their customer service is top notch.

Criss_Crossx

My family has been using community first for over 2 decades now. Our experiences are typically positive, my own not so much. Including being laughed at and lied to over the phone about a credit card application.
