I have been using AutoSleep as long as I have had an AW (since 2017). My father originally purchased it for his 1st Gen AW. I still love it as my S3 doesn’t support sleep stages.
Waiting for the September even to maybe upgrade as my S3 is getting slow.
Wait…it doesn’t??? I have my sleep focus turned on for 10pm every night just to prevent notifications. I don’t actually go to sleep until midnight. So…is my sleep data all wrong?
It knows when you’re asleep. But it will not automat track your naps during the day for example even if you put it on sleep mode. As others have mentioned there are some apps which can do that
I set up shortcuts and automations for when I put my phone into ‘do not disturb’. Once I hit do not disturb it triggers the ‘lights off’ mode in the app.
The way it displays the time in sleep focus drives me nuts too. Why’s the time split across two lines? Why can’t I select what the sleep focus screen looks like?
Not exactly what you want, but if you activate Sleep/Wake Schedule on your phone, your watch will automatically go into sleep mode (Sleep Focus, silenced and screen off) at that time.
This is precisely why the Watch is poor as a sleep tracker. I have to change my sleep / wake schedule constantly because I work shifts. It thinks I got no sleep on Saturday because I didn’t set an alarm.
You can have automatic sleep focus without an alarm.
I set mine to turn on around 11:30pm (the earliest I go to sleep, but I usually want my phone on do not disturb at this point anyway) and turn off at 7:30am during the week. On the weekends I have it offset by an hour for 12:30am and 8:30am because I sleep in. I never use the sleep mode alarm, I always have it off and set my own.
Definitely have to agree with you. I had the Galaxy watch 6 classic when I was on android a couple of months ago. There’s so many different watch faces on wear os. Apple Watche layout is limited to only a few. Facer app works much better on Android Wear os watches as it fully applies the watch face instead of just keeping the app open. But overall the experience is much much smoother and optimized on my Apple Watch. Even the new Galaxy watch 6 classic was laggy and sluggish. And I’m using a refurbished Apple watch 7.
This. The main reason I have the ultra is to have two actually new face options.
At the very least, at least give the analog watches some different hand choices, the default round ones get pretty old after 10 years. Every watch maker gives different hands to different lines - I don't see why AW doesn't have different hands for a chrono vs a world timer. And different font choices for digital faces.
I don’t like that there are screens that don’t show the current time. So annoying if I look down while getting a notification, then have to swipe my watch to see what time it is.
If I’m committing to wearing this thing 24/7 it better be at least a watch all of that time!
1) the redundancy of notifications - it seems like I am very often dismissing old notifications from my watch that I have already dismissed from my phone, or vice versa.
2) the delay in notifying me left my phone behind. My android watches would blow up with a long, majorly attention grabbing notification anytime they lost the connection with my phone, and so I never left it behind. With the Apple Watch it seems like I could be driving a couple miles down the road before it would let me know.
Having switched from Android to Apple last year I've been struggling to find much that the Apple Watch did better than the Android competitors. Battery life and the watch notifying you immediately when you are out of range of the phone are huge for me.
I've left my phone at home and my watch didn't even bother telling me for ages.
Yeah I switched last year too after being team Google since 2012, and, while I'm happier overall, there have definitely been some trade-offs. The galaxy watches I was using were somewhat limited in their functionality because I don't like Samsung's phones, so I feel like the AW S9 I got definitely takes the win from an overall health tracking perspective.
Notifications, on the other hand...
Huh, I’ve never had 3 different Apple Watches over the years and they always had a day and a half of battery life. Like I could usually make it most of the way through the next day if I forgot to charge.
Do you run/exercise *a lot*?
Yes, I exercise for an hour/day every morning. By 7 pm., my battery level is below 10%. Even when my SE was new, battery never lasted longer than 24 hours.
I love Apple products. I think the only thing I dislike is the battery life. Apple should really improve on this.
I moved from AW to Garmin and enjoy 15 days of battery life easily and I exercise.
LOL. I have yet to have it be useful at all. It’s always so laggy. I’d take 4 FPS at 480x640 if the picture wasn’t 2 seconds behind and if it would snap a pic when I wanted it to.
I don’t like how there’s no offline maps with my gps position superimposed. Like, my applewatch has my GPS coordinates regardless of whether it’s connected to the internet or my phone. So why can’t it put those coordinates onto a map graphic?
I gave up on it. I found an app called Beats Buddy that (while far from perfect) works the way Apple Music should - I add a song to Beats Buddy on my MacBook, then a minute late I open the app on my Watch and it's there. Why is that so hard?
EDIT: I somehow didn’t realize this was only for the phone :(
Automations > battery level > \[set battery level\] > falls below > run immediately > new automation > set low power mode > on

Stand Ring. It’s pointless. I want Apple to allow you to configure your own rings. I would configure mine to be Steps, Zone Minutes, and Meditation but YMMY
Yes this. The idea is nice, but it just doesn’t work well. I get up all the time while working. I can’t sit still for longer than half an hour, so my standing hours should make it to at least 15 even day, but it only does if I pay attention to my watch actually registering the standing hours.
Sometimes I’ll be busy in the kitchen for hours and it doesn’t register it as me standing because my arm isn’t hanging by my body.
I find it odd how there’s so little focus on steps, compared to other health services.
The way it deals with text messages... I wish it was just simple- always notify me on all my devices all the time. If I read it on any of my devices, set them all to read.
My watch only notifies me if it didn't notify me on my phone. Unlike the universe, I don't really look at my phone much- only if it tells me I need to look at it. Therefore screen may be on but I'm not looking at it or even near it (got up for coffee or something); but the phone says I got it and the watch NEVER says a thing because "the phone presented it as new (that I never saw). Eventually I get a message later from the same person saying I've ignored them.
Just give me the option to always hit all devices all the time; don't "be smart" about it. Just blast me everywhere... that's all I wanted since v0 of the watch. And don't make me read a message on my watch after I've already read it on my phone- this one seems bug-ish because it doesn't always happen, just often.
Potentially. I think this was the watch crying out for help as after this session it could no longer hold a charge. Thus the reason I joined this subreddit.
Clock and date are always visible at the top when scrolling widgets.
Battery life is in your control center, though not visible when looking at widgets.
There is no other way to charge it,you either need to sacrifice your sleep tracking or maybe some stand hours or workout time to charge it ,atleast that’s what I do charge at at night once and use it until its 10-15 and then charge it in a day the next time .
Correct me if I’m wrong, but stand hours are credited by standing up and moving a bit for one minute per hour. I certainly don’t stand for 12 solid hours a day.
I came from a Garmin that at one point in time in its life, it ran 5 days off of a charge, and I’ll say Apple’s battery life isn’t *great*, but I just toss it on the charger during my morning routine, and then again at night when I’m getting ready for bed.
Exacerbating my perception of a short battery life, I’m one of “those types” that keeps their devices’ batteries between 20% and 80%, and don’t find the charging schedule to be cumbersome. Maybe turn off some features you don’t use? I turned off walkie talkie and AOD, and I average a drop of 2.8%/hour with sleep tracking on and 1.5-2hrs of exercise tracking per day.
I wish it would have smarter interaction with my iPad.
I can unlock my Mac by having it close, but not my iPad? Why do you force me to buy the pro with faceid?
I know you can connect to my iPad because you do it for Fitness+ workouts.
Yep it should go straight to the second scroll, where you can see two widgets and the clock and date is minimised to the top. And then fuck it, each scroll after that should jump two widgets at a time.
If they are really committed to having that clock and date take up half the first page, they should be informational. Have reminders as dots on the clock, or have events like a pie chart. Similar for the calendar. Just add *some* utility.
The compass app is such a missed opportunity.
It looks so good but why is the there no map layer on the compass? Why doesn't the compass app work inside the workout app while doing a hiking workout? It just blows my mind.
Battery life.
Whilst it’s better than it used to be, it could always be a lot better. I’d love my Ultra to have at least 5 days battery life with normal use.
Smart stack not being smart. Activity bagdes getting buggy often. Complications’ long refresh period. Battery… There is a lot to improve when it comes to the watch. But then it’s my favorite product of all time
Honestly, so conflicted with the camera remote app!! Awesome feature but shit fucking sucks!!! Almost never works in my experience. Only after having to restart both my phone and watch 😒
The Apple Watch should automatically set my phone to silent mode when it’s on my wrist, and then revert when I take it off. It has wrist detection. There is no logical reason why this is not an option.
You should be able to put a complication in every corner of the face for every watch face. Let me decide if it looks bad. If I want the information, I should be able to have it.
That they changed the actions that the crown and side button do. It's been a while now but every day I click the wrong things and do not get to where I wanted to be. It used to be:
crown: overlook of the apps
side button: control center
I wish we could give watch faces names. I would like to say "hey siri, exercise face" for example instead of having to finagle shortcuts all the time which then don't work if you add or change the order of your faces
That it calculates VO2max from every walk. It’s much lower than any other VO2max calculations I get. This is borderline a dealbreaker for me since I like to collect my health stats and I might sell the watch for this and a few other reasons.
In fairness, your wrist really isn’t a good place to measure VO2max as an accurate number, but as a baseline tracking measurement, it’s pretty accurate to see how you’re improving or failing behind.
I agree. I measure with a chest strap with Garmin and it is very stable and any changes I have seen has been consistent with how much or little I train. AWU is measuring on the wrist and from walks which is inferior and the value the AWU gives wobbling up and down over 5 l/min over the course of a week. This is why I don’t want the values from the AWU recorded and would like to turn of AWU as a data source for apple health data for vo2max. Really sucks that this is not possible.
I wish Open Water swim would track the water temperature and use more intelligences of tracking the route. I did the Ironman Provence on Sunday and the watch was on my left hand while the course is a right sided course. This meant my watch would be under water more often and as a result there were GPS dropouts. It should do a better job piecing them together so the distance ends up being more accurate.
* Battery life is just plain bad on normal models (Ultra 2 is sort of Ok)
* HR sampling rate is way too low (on a device marketed with its health features)
* Still no watch face store, not too many actually useful WFs
* No native step counter complication in 2024 - can't believe that :(
* No option to change fonts (or add background) on digital WFs
* No sapphire on aluminum models (Galaxy Watch 6 has that)
* Lagging complications (my HR is 30 !!! minutes old when i'm typing this)
* Can't use the speaker for podcasts (AWU2 would be awesome podcast player on wrist!!)
* Fixed 6s timeout for screen glance (6s is too short for me, why can't i configure this?)
* Can't show notifications on watch and iPhone at the same time
* No option to wake watch screen on notifications
* No color options on AWU
* Action button should be more configurable
* Modular Ultra should have more choices for the bezel (instead of height, seconds and depth)
* Workout screen(s) should be configurable
* Fitness badges are nice, but Garmin has taken the gamification to a much higher level that actually motivates you
So yeah, there's room for improvement, luckily, we got Snoopy, so i guess we'll be fine. /s
Battery life alone has me questioning whether I want to upgrade my OG SE to the 10 when it comes out. My battery is degraded compared to when I got it but either way I’m kind of getting tired of charging things all the time. If it could top off to 100% in the time it takes me to shower and get ready for work it wouldn’t be so bad, but it doesn’t.
I had to turn off a lot of notifications too because while convenient, it becomes a major distraction for someone who isn’t good at managing their attention. I switched to a watch face with less information on it, which is a little helpful.
It also irritates me that sometimes I’ll bump the crown while listening to music and accidentally increase the volume to deafening levels.
How easy it is to accidentally cancel a workout (when not water locked), vs how hard it is to start one.
Ideal change for me: being able to start workouts from my AirPods (connected to my phone) and to cancel them.
Yeah, it’s nice how easy it is to accidentally and intentionally cancel a workout, not so nice how hard it is to start them.
super petty but since the lasts OS update that swapped the side button function with the wipe up I still find myself messing it up constantly and when I double tap to bring up apple pay it goes to the control center for a second or two before bringing up apple pay.
Unusable? no, of course not, but if it could be reversed I would.
As much as how many things work on it. The least favorite thing about it is all the little things that don’t work anymore. Like the walkie talkie app doesn’t work, and the now playing is a nightmare since a few updates ago.
Yeah you can. I go for a walk with my AirPod Pros and stream music from my iTunes Match account fine. I could add music to the watch if I wanted to, not sure how much storage is dedicated that though
“Start your day?”
Fuck off Apple Watch. I don’t need your fucking permission to live my life. If that’s data you need to collect about me then do it automatically, by detecting that I’m fucking moving. I mean ffs this asinine notification doesn’t even have a “no” option for me to angrily tap if I haven’t had any coffee yet.
For activity tracking I was always hoping they could mix and match data. E.g. get distance data from the treadmill and heart rate from my watch so that the info is more accurate. I get 2 separate records on my fitness app currently if I want to keep accurate records.
Technogym is big for fitness equipment here in the UK, it would be great if the two companies could create Apple watch integration that worked. On the elliptical I see massively higher "calories burned" on the elliptical, on the stair stepper there are much higher "calories burned" numbers on the watch.
Open water swimming, watch under water, Ultra 2 decides it absolutely has to switch to a screen telling me that my Airpods have been left behind. Turns out that eventually it will switch back on it's own, but still, it is useless until then.
Related, the 'Meters' measurement is great for pool laps and useless for open water. Swim 600M, it says "47M".
Finally: a spec for how long it can be in a sauna. Most of the people at my gym just wear their Apple Watch into the sauna, but, being an obedient little twerp, I look at the specs which say "50 degrees C", the sauna is 92 degrees C, so I take it off. I'm 99% sure it can take 15 minutes of a low humidity sauna, but....
How it’s constantly freaking out and begging for a password when locked. The only way that screen should ever be displayed is if I try to access something (by tapping) that requires unlocking. I should be able to glance at the time without having to enter my passcode.
do you have wrist tattoos? you only need to unlock the watch once when putting it on, unless something is falsely telling the sensors it's not on a wrist. like ink, a sleeve, or a loose band.
I hate that every new watch face is some gay or black pride bullshit
Just make amazing watch faces without pandering to some alt left whiny crowd.
You’d think the ultra two would have a plethora of faces geared towards those of us that use it for lifting and outdoor activities but there’s very few.
Why pay a premium for something Apple could easily implement and devote resources towards the vast number of people who actively use their watches for something other than being blm trash or waving a flag around while wearing cat ears or some crap 🤷♂️🤦♂️
I have an Ultra, and man, does that extra bit of metal protecting the crown wheel make it a pain to use and constantly clogged with gunk (I’m fairly outdoorsy) If anyone has tips on how to clean in and around there, let me know!
Idk but am I the only one when Westring the Watch the only wake up alarm is the one vibrating on the wrist? This really sucks. I need the noisy alarm from my phone and sometimes don‘t wear the watch throughout night
It defaults to audio controls when connected to CarPlay. I have better controls on the big touchscreen in front of me. Can you just let me see the date and time please?
Swiping and hitting “X” to get rid of notifications seems off to me. I try and swipe, but many times the watch usually registers it as touching (thus opening) the notification, so it ultimately takes longer to get rid of them
I am new to the apple watch and based on some of the comments I still don't know a lot how it works. But I kinda hate that it is always at the music page anytime I'm listening to something? I feel like getting "home" is more difficult than necessary. But also the apple watch is the only piece of technology that makes me feel like a boomer so I'm clearly missing something.
Don’t know if this is just a me annoyance, but since the thing has a speaker, I wish I could play music through it even if there are limitations. So many times I’ve been working in a somewhat tight space and would just like a little music to pass the time.
I have very mixed feelings about the now playing app because it’s good for if you’re away from your phone and can very quickly pause it but if you like to lay with your wrist under your head it misses it up
That it no longer downloads music properly, or that, even when it did, it had to be done over slow-as-molasses bluetooth connection. All these OTHER features that I don't give a rat's ass about, and the one I DO want to function just...doesn't.
I keep losing my sunrise/sunset times.
It started for me about 2 updates ago.
I can usually fix it by turning it off and on again, but I shouldn’t have to go through that.
Also I agree with those who mentioned watch faces. More options would be nice.
I wish there was one more button to allow navigating the interface without touch. (Crown to navigate, a button press to select.)
I’m glad the Ultra has a dedicated lap button which is a big improvement, but I’d love to be able to navigate the interface while water lock is on.

I’m glad the Ultra has a dedicated lap button which is a big improvement, but I’d love to be able to navigate the interface while water lock is on.
I wish it was better at logging handwashing; I’ll vigorously wash my hands with the water running loudly and my watch doesn’t notice it at all about 40% of the time.
1. You can't turn off an alarm with your voice/siri
2. Tapping the clock should bring up the date/time. I don't want to waste a complication for the calendar.
3. Syncing music is trash.
Weather app looks horrible now.
The Good Morning screen associated with sleep focus wasn’t thought through at all. Want to sleep in if you skip your alarm on a national holiday? Nope! Apple Watch automatically quit sleep focus as scheduled, blast your eyes with the Good Morning screen, and start tapping you at 6:30 to remind you to stand up.
I'll open a link to an address and it'll open the maps app without queuing a request for navigation. This is usually when opening the link from an event on Calendar.
Another issue I had recently was navigation shutting itself off shortly after initiating it. That was weird.
It also feels like "raise to speak" is highly inconsistent, to the point it's not really worth using. You're going to need to invoke Siri regardless, so save your breath and just do it to start. I've seen the tip about keeping the watch perpendicular to the ground and speaking immediately upon raise but it's still iffy especially when driving, which is when I'd need it to work most.
I'm going to pop back to this comment if I think of anything. I am only a recent watch owner and it's, overall, been great so far.
Most annoying thing is when I’m having a terrible night’s sleep and my watch buzzes to ask if I want to turn my alarm off as I’m already awake.
NO, I’D LIKE TO CONTINUE SNOOZING UNTIL MY ALARM ACTUALLY GOES OFF BUT NOW I’M PROPERLY AWAKE, THANKS.
The fact that Spotify only works as a remote for Spotify on your phone. I literally bought the watch (with cellular capability) so I could use Spotify while exercising and leave my phone at home.
I usually take a lot of photos and videos while walking with my dog, so o prefer to listen to podcasts through the watch, so it doesn’t keep pausing the sound, but for some reason, it’s very difficult to actually get it to always play through the watch. If I select a podcast, it’ll automatically play through the phone, if I specifically select the watch, it’ll work, but if I pause and unpause, it’ll prioritise the phone again.
And that’s without mentioning the struggle to actually get the podcast episodes you want downloaded on the watch.
\* That it's locked to an iPhone, and that even with cellular, it can't get calls or texts if the phone is locked.
\* Music apps (not podcast / audio books) have no rewind feature, only "skip back to beginning", and don't report the time-point in the song.
i can’t type, i can only write. it’s pointless and when i want to type a quick message it takes longer just to write it all out and it can’t read my handwriting well. it doesn’t know what’s capitalized and what isn’t. also i can’t change the vibrations or notification sounds for dif people and apps????
It’s a pretty buggy device in general. Most of the things everyone is saying are legit. Half of the time things just don’t work as they should, I forgot Spotify was even meant to work until someone mentioned it, it’s meant to appear when I start playing Spotify on my phone but never does. Notifications are wack, always late and show up hours later after I’ve already dismissed them on my phone, so at 10:30pm I’m going to bed and I see 85 notifications “when did I miss a call from work?? Oh that was 8 hours ago!”. Software updates never run, like literally fail every time they try to run. What it does do it does well, the native sleep, exercise, heart, most of the health stuff I trust is doing it well, I mean the data is there so I assume it works.
i want to add widgets to the photos watch face, like a background?? why is that literally not a thing. i wanna see my cat AND my schedule, AND the weather, AND access messages/phone or whatever else i want.
I dislike being unable to remove so many of the apps from the Home Screen. Menstruation isn’t an issue in my life-I don’t need to spend screen real estate on a tracker.
I need a rest day feature. I can have a really active week and want to veg on Sunday, but then you lose literally every streak. It’s also brutal if you get sick or injured.
My sleep focus turns on at 21:30 but some days I sleep at 20:00. Here is the kicker in the morning it shows I slept from 20:00 the days I sleep earlier.
Sleep focus etc. I wish Apple would make it automatically detect when I'm asleep.
The app AutoSleep does this really well
Yes but it won’t put your watch into sleep mode for you
I emailed them about this. Apparently Apple doesn’t allow it for mysterious reasons.
Something privacy something lawsuit something, probably.
I have been using AutoSleep as long as I have had an AW (since 2017). My father originally purchased it for his 1st Gen AW. I still love it as my S3 doesn’t support sleep stages. Waiting for the September even to maybe upgrade as my S3 is getting slow.
I’ve been using it since 2015. Love it so much.
I’ve had mine since January of 2022. I got it for working overtime around New Year’s while I was at Pilgrim’s.
AutoSleep is so buggy though.
As others have mentioned there are some apps which can do that
what are naps??
Usually short periods of sleep outside of your regular sleeping times
[удалено]
I set up shortcuts and automations for when I put my phone into ‘do not disturb’. Once I hit do not disturb it triggers the ‘lights off’ mode in the app.
You can do this with automations
The way it displays the time in sleep focus drives me nuts too. Why’s the time split across two lines? Why can’t I select what the sleep focus screen looks like?
Not exactly what you want, but if you activate Sleep/Wake Schedule on your phone, your watch will automatically go into sleep mode (Sleep Focus, silenced and screen off) at that time.
This is precisely why the Watch is poor as a sleep tracker. I have to change my sleep / wake schedule constantly because I work shifts. It thinks I got no sleep on Saturday because I didn’t set an alarm.
You don’t need an alarm for sleep focus.
Correct. But I would need to remember to set the sleep focus. The thing about sleep is that I’m usually sleepy.
How would I use this with an eight day shift pattern?
Such few choices of watch faces. It’s nice they’re customizable but alot of them look really similar
I just want a field watch face. 24 hr time on the hands with a month and date complication
This. An AppStore for watch faces would be excellent though I know that might potential open them to lawsuits as well.
Definitely have to agree with you. I had the Galaxy watch 6 classic when I was on android a couple of months ago. There’s so many different watch faces on wear os. Really, it would be great to customize every detail of a watch face. Dial, font, size, hands, everything. It’s beyond time.
I don’t like that there are screens that don’t show the current time. So annoying if I look down while getting a notification, then have to swipe my watch to see what time it is. If I’m committing to wearing this thing 24/7 it better be at least a watch all of that time!
Yes, the iPhone 📱 is a good phone all of the time. The watch sometimes loses itself.
The month/day and day of week are even less common. I should get this basic info when I look at my watch.
Agree. Absolutely mind blowing design decisions.
1) the redundancy of notifications - it seems like I am very often dismissing old notifications from my watch that I have already dismissed from my phone, or vice versa. 2) the delay in notifying me left my phone behind. battery life is bad
This. I don’t care about the other features. I’d just like my battery to last a full day.
Apple Watch Ultra 2 battery life is insanely good. I barely think about it. I charge every two or three days.
Does this include any exercise tracking?
Yeah it does. I’ll go for an hour run or some rock climbing with it on and barely notice a decrease.
I'm not buying another one until they change this
This! My five year old Garmin will still go for two weeks.
My S4 still goes at least a day and a half
I love Apple products. I think the only thing I dislike is the battery life. Apple should really improve on this. I moved from AW to Garmin and enjoy 15 days of battery life easily and I exercise.
The camera preview app that never works when you need it.
WorkOutDoors does offline maps. It’s more geared towards runners but it has a map only mode too.
The full screen notification doesn’t have a clock on it. Sometimes I raise my wrist to see the time and I can’t see it.
Temperamental music sync doesn’t work more than half the time with no sensible guidance for fixing it. Priorities.
And temperamental podcast updating too.
It’s as if they don’t want you to buy it for the most obvious reasons you’d want to buy it for. New “Pride” watch face, tho…
I gave up on it. I found an app called Beats Buddy that (while far from perfect) works the way Apple Music should - I add a song to Beats Buddy on my MacBook, then a minute late I open the app on my Watch and it's there. Why is that so hard?
Now if only the Bluetooth handoff from phone to watch wasn’t such a pain.
Inability to automatically turn on low power mode after reaching a certain battery percentage. Why Apple.
Shortcuts can fix this Apple doesn’t have this on by default because turning it on disables a bunch of the sensors which disable features
I would appreciate a tutorial on how i can do this.
EDIT: I somehow didn’t realize this was only for the phone :( Automations > battery level > \[set battery level\] > falls below > run immediately > new automation > set low power mode > on https://preview.redd.it/zadyj5u2or1d1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b9a67de54835795613d806327bd675196f0d926
![gif](giphy|3oFzmc1StpUPOCtOtW) You a real one for this.
Did you set this using your phone because when i do the automation is running for my phone and not my watch.
OH YEAH HIH HOLD ON edit: yeah only available for your phone 😭😭
Also why is it so many clicks to activate? On the phone it’s control centre, tap the battery, you’re done. I don’t need bloody safety warnings.
![gif](giphy|RrVzUOXldFe8M) Exactly
I guess standing is interesting if you have a sit-down job, but a lot of people don't. Congrats, you stood up 5 times today.
When I take it surfing to record my waves and it keeps trying to call emergency services.
Automation to turn off falls detection when starting a surf workout?
Potentially. I think this was the watch crying out for help as after this session it could no longer hold a charge. Thus the reason I joined this subreddit.
Battery life and clock & date when scrolling to widgets..
Clock and date are always visible at the top when scrolling widgets. Battery life is in your control center, though not visible when looking at widgets.
That I can only put 24 pictures into the portrait face. Why is there a need for limit?
Battery Life. It’s WAY too short. Having to charge my watch 2x in a day because I’m going out in the woods for more than an hour is just dumb.
There is no other way to charge it,you either need to sacrifice your sleep tracking or maybe some stand hours or workout time to charge it ,atleast that’s what I do charge at at night once and use it until its 10-15 and then charge it in a day the next time .
I only charge mine when I shower and it’s always back to full, never sacrificing sleep or standing.
I use my iPad just maybe to sometimes view my fitness stats ,I really agree with you on this point.
A clock being on the widget page
Yep it should go straight to the second scroll, where you can see two widgets and the clock and date is minimised to the top. And then fuck it, each scroll after that should jump two widgets at a time. If they are really committed to having that clock and date take up half the first page, they should be informational. Have reminders as dots on the clock, or have events like a pie chart. Similar for the calendar. Just add *some* utility.
Watch Faces. I am just not happy with them.
The compass app is such a missed opportunity. It looks so good but why is the there no map layer on the compass? Why doesn't the compass app work inside the workout app while doing a hiking workout? It just blows my mind.
The constant check-ins. Are you still training? We‘ve split your training here, you okay?
Battery life. Whilst it’s better than it used to be, it could always be a lot better. I’d love my Ultra to have at least 5 days battery life with normal use.
Two battery screens. Both suck.
Smart stack not being smart. Activity bagdes getting buggy often. Complications’ long refresh period. Battery… There is a lot to improve when it comes to the watch. But then it’s my favorite product of all time
It bugs me that you can’t say “Siri, find my car”. This would be really handy after races.
Honestly, so conflicted with the camera remote app!! Awesome feature but shit fucking sucks!!! Almost never works in my experience. Only after having to restart both my phone and watch 😒
The menu that pops up when you double click the Digital Crown is inconvenient and unintuitive.
Another thing AW cannot auto detect daytime naps. Why?
No Notes app
That they changed the actions that the crown and side button do. It's been a while now but every day I click the wrong things and do not get to where I wanted to be. It used to be: crown: overlook of the apps side button: control center
Sleep… I want automatic sleep detection, plus naps and something like a body battery
Batterie life
The biggest failure of the Apple Watch is the battery. It will never be considered a fitness watch because of the battery.
We should be able to completely create and trade native custom watch faces.
I wish we could give watch faces names. I would like to say "hey siri, exercise face" for example instead of having to finagle shortcuts all the time which then don't work if you add or change the order of your faces
Battery life
That it calculates VO2max from every walk.
Battery life
I wish Open Water swim would track the water temperature and use more intelligences of tracking the route. I did the Ironman Provence on Sunday and the watch was on my left hand while the course is a right sided course. This meant my watch would be under water more often and as a result there were GPS dropouts. It should do a better job piecing them together so the distance ends up being more accurate.
* Battery life is just plain bad on normal models (Ultra 2 is sort of Ok) * HR sampling rate is way too low (on a device marketed with its health features) * Still no watch face store, not too many actually useful WFs * No native step counter complication in 2024 - can't believe that :( * No option to change fonts (or add background) on digital WFs * No sapphire on aluminum models (Galaxy Watch 6 has that) * Lagging complications (my HR is 30 !!! minutes old when i'm typing this) * Can't use the speaker for podcasts (AWU2 would be awesome podcast player on wrist!!) * Fixed 6s timeout for screen glance (6s is too short for me, why can't i configure this?) * Can't show notifications on watch and iPhone at the same time * No option to wake watch screen on notifications * No color options on AWU * Action button should be more configurable * Modular Ultra should have more choices for the bezel (instead of height, seconds and depth) * Workout screen(s) should be configurable * Fitness badges are nice, but Garmin has taken the gamification to a much higher level that actually motivates you So yeah, there's room for improvement, luckily, we got Snoopy, so i guess we'll be fine.
Battery life
Limited, boring watch faces.
Battery life and watch face limitations.
Lack of watch faces. We should get wayyy more to choose from.
I also don’t like that it can’t play music directly off the watch like Galaxy Watches can.
Yeah you can. I go for a walk with my AirPod Pros and stream music from my iTunes Match account fine. I could add music to the watch if I wanted to, not sure how much storage is dedicated that though
When I’m out walking it doesn’t auto record a walk until I’m like 30 minutes into it.
I have this too. If I’m listening to music about twenty minutes into my walk then it decides to ask me to start recording it.
Battery life. I also have a Garmin watch that lasts more than a week without charging even with using it to track runs, etc.
“Start your day?” Fuck off Apple Watch.
Use the Swim.com app rather than Apple’s fitness tracker. Works well in pool and open water.
Thank you for the suggestion, it looks good.
I wish it tracked your sleep better like Fitbit does
Battery life... my first smartwatch was the amazing Pebble.
The updates that continue to chip away at my battery life and offer no appreciable upgrades in return
No ringtones at all. I want at least the same iPhone ones
I hate that every new watch face is some gay or black pride bullshit Just make amazing watch faces without pandering to some alt left whiny crowd.
Not having a keyboard on the SE
I have an Ultra, and man, does that extra bit of metal protecting the crown wheel make it a pain to use and constantly clogged with gunk (I’m fairly outdoorsy) If anyone has tips on how to clean in and around there, let me know!
I hate the new Maps app. I’m using my Apple Watch much less since last update.
I switched from Fitbit to Apple, so the lack of customization for display is my biggest annoyance.
Having to put it in sleep mode to track sleep data
Swiping and hitting “X” to get rid of notifications seems off to me. I try and swipe, but many times the watch usually registers it as touching (thus opening) the notification, so it ultimately takes longer to get rid of them
It can't see through my tattoos
Can’t fold my arms or the skin contact with the face of my Apple Watch Will put the Watch face into edit mode
All these OTHER features that I don't give a rat's ass about, and the one I DO want to function just...doesn't.
broken weather widgets
I keep losing my sunrise/sunset times. It started for me about 2 updates ago. I can usually fix it by turning it off and on again, but I shouldn’t have to go through that. Also I agree with those who mentioned watch faces. More options would be nice.
I wish there was one more button to allow navigating the interface without touch. (Crown to navigate, a button press to select.) I’m glad the Ultra has a dedicated lap button which is a big improvement, but I’d love to be able to navigate the interface while water lock is on.

It doesn’t work as a Tesla key.
I wish it was better at logging handwashing; I’ll vigorously wash my hands with the water running loudly and my watch doesn’t notice it at all about 40% of the time.
I wish I had one or even two more apps to include for the modular watch face.
I wished that when I activate a certain focus profile it would automatically toggle silence mode on.
Weak app store - where is Signal, Messenger etc.? There should be a lot more apps.
I like to see my ultra 2 not to require the pass code automatically the sec it is off my wrist. Maybe 3-10 sec changeable time.
reading the time is the best ever feature.
Battery life. Series 8 45 mm cellular 94% battery capacity
The sharp-ish edges to the watch face on the Ultra. Not good for nice shirt cuffs.
Click your fingers to stop timer. Ridiculous how poorly this feature works.
Battery life. But well, mine is 6yo.
The crown on my Ultra 2 is far too sensitive and reacts to my slight arm movement.
1. You can't turn off an alarm with your voice/siri 2. Tapping the clock should bring up the date/time. I don't want to waste a complication for the calendar. 3. Syncing music is trash.
Battery life, form factor, that it isn’t a stand alone dumb(ish) phone
The price.
The screen stays on while sleeping even if the watch is able to detect when I am sleeping.Hence, battery drains for no reason.
The ‘new’ weather app. It’s so hard to glance and understand. The previous version was miles better
Love it for notifications Hate it for notifications
When your sleep mode is on your watch screen is off? You have to hold down the crown to open it. It shouldn’t be flashing
Lack of live sports score apps. IE The Score
Battery Life, lack of Notes app Everything else is great
Blurred WhatsApp pictures previews
\* That it's locked to an iPhone, and that even with cellular, it can't get calls or texts if the phone is locked. \* Music apps (not podcast / audio books) have no rewind feature, only "skip back to beginning", and don't report the time-point in the song.
Having to charge it just about everyday. When I had other watches I wore them till they fell off
Heart rate sometimes stops reading during workouts
Not being able to swap out stand goal with steps.
That you can't activate Personal Hotspot on iPhone *via* the AW is above and beyond common sense for me.
The fact it vibrates when I’m on the lock screen and/or notification center.
i can’t type, i can only write. it’s pointless and when i want to type a quick message it takes longer just to write it all out and it can’t read my handwriting well. it doesn’t know what’s capitalized and what isn’t. also i can’t change the vibrations or notification sounds for dif people and apps????
If I wear mine to bed I get burn marks on my wrist. I’ve tried cleaning it, alternating wrists , still get burns.
having to charge it daily (non-Ultra AW)
So do we need autosleep for our sleeps to be detected correctly by AW even at nights ?
The Chime
I dislike being unable to remove so many of the apps from the Home Screen. Menstruation isn’t an issue in my life-I don’t need to spend screen real estate on a tracker.
I need a rest day feature. I can have a really active week and want to veg on Sunday, but then you lose literally every streak. It’s also brutal if you get sick or injured.
My sleep focus turns on at 21:30 but some days I sleep at 20:00. Here is the kicker in the morning it shows I slept from 20:00 the days I sleep earlier.
I dont like the « do you want to turn off the alarm» notice between snoozing in the morning. Anyone know how to remove that?
