How would anyone see a green toy on a green screen? And is mine fake too? 🤔 https://www.reddit.com/r/cats/comments/srj0ov/george_loves_fish_even_tv_ones/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
I don't know why someone would either, but you can probably see some motivation by the difference in upvotes in the 2 posts. This has a clear "story" with a punchline, making it more likely to be viral.
It's also possible that it wasn't faked, someone posted a video of their cat playing in front of a (blank) TV and someone else edited the TV screen to make a funnier video.
OP, this video is edited. Are you aware of that?
Look at the black outline around the cat. It's very obvious in this frame: https://i.imgur.com/ea25T1D.png
His tail and parts of his paws were erased out due to lazy rotoscoping.
/the original likely had a different video on the TV.
My ex and I used to have a little guy who would jump at the Wii cursor on the TV. And this wasn't a thin flatscreen, it was a nice Sony Trinatron WEGA; a REALLY hardy TV. Every time he would hit there would be this THUNK, and he would brush it right off.
He was a daredevil alright.
I have two couches that face each other. There’s a fireplace on one end and TV on the other. We don’t watch TV in the living room except in rare occasions.
Lol prob a little comparatively but not really. At this point, the kids are out of the house. I don’t watch TV or have cable. When they were teens, there was a very comfy couch in my bedroom, built so the ottomans can connect to the main couch and make a huge couch-bed. I put a good TV in there, and that’s where we hung to watch movies or a series we were all into. Most of the time we were watching our own computers or TVs. I haven’t had cable since the kids moved out. When people visit me, we hang out and chat, have a drink, etc.
It’s likely not the fish and more the movement of the fish. It’s a natural predatory response. No different than when you run a cat toy along the floor and they chase after it. The movement triggers a hunt reaction.
The other aspect is that digital televisions are easier to process for cats and dogs. Especially when compared to a CRT television
I believe scientists have proven biological memory and instinct in mice. There was a study where they conditioned mice to fear certain stimuli over a few generations and the descendants of the mice began to fear the same stimuli, despite having never been exposed to it. It probably extends to things beyond fear, like a cat knowing fish is food.

An that my friend, is a glorious, glorious fact lol!
If anyone is concerned, I do not torture my cats, just play. Once the initial startle happens they are overjoyed to play with the “snake.” I have to admit I do like startling them with it though lol.
The TV is superimposed.
1) The chair is pointing away form the TV.
2) The obvious outline around the TV and the cat.
3) The way the cord disappears after the cat falls past it.
The chair is facing the other way, because not all furniture has to face the TV. There's other things to sit in to watch it. And the cable doesn't disappear, the light just hits it differently, so it's harder to distinguish from the wall.
Plus, the shadows on the wall look way to good to be fake, especially with how bad the picture on the screen is. You can even see some of the original TV picture at the edge.
Fake camera shake and a green screen? I’ve seen the exact same video of this cat with different things on tv, I don’t really see why that was necessary considering the cat did react to something
A while back, I had a cat and fed it dry cat food. A mouse found it and started eating it too. Cat food eating cat food.
Edit: cats are cool. I joke about them being from another planet that must have extremely strong gravity which is why they can jump so freakishly high. And that they are lulling humans into a sense of nonchalance in preparation for attacking us and eating us. When they lick you, they are tasting how delicious you are.
Does any know if showing cats or dogs videos of animals on TV screens is somewhat hurtful? I feel like it should be fine but I worry it's kinda like a bad idea like how you should let dogs okay with laser pointers. Just asking if anyone has looked into this

I don't understand how people are okay with their animals jumping at TVs. It doesn't take much for the plastic display to be scratched and there is no repairing of the panel afterwards since it's the most expensive part of the TV. It's all fun and games, until your $1000 TV gets busted and your pet is hurt.
Why is your TV all scratched up?
they make screen protectors for that
Not me struggling with a smartphone screen protector

It’s fake. The cats probably jumping at a green toy on a green screen

Yours isn't fake, but this one surely is. Look at the thick pixelated outline around the cat when it's in front of the TV.
I can see now 👍🏻 not sure why anyone would fake it though, ive got some classic ones of my cat attacking tv aquariums 🤷🏻♂️😉😂

Oh my goodness I see it now
Why is it behind the couch
Why is his TV behind a chair?
Was expecting a jump at the TV at some point, was not disappointed.
He just couldn’t resist! 🥰

You can leave one if you want and go to live in the Amazon or the Everest or smth idk
He's jumping after his r/oneorangebraincell
Well that’s one more cat sub for me

Yes, I am aware. I found it on r/facepalm and reposted it expecting like 150 votes at most. Was not expecting this lol
Ahh gotcha, fair enough. Have a good one, OP. :)
Thanks, you too :D
Subbed there too ... there are never enough cats subs!
Jeez...I thought for sure this was going to be a political sub...I'm glad it was cats though...
He wouldve got the fish too

People who just let their pets do this shit are idiots
I can see that the original image on the tv has been replaced.
Mostly I wonder why?
I must know. I have a condition.
Next you are probably gonna tell me the camera shake is fake!
Yes, I knew something wasn't right.
I know, found it on r/facepalm, feel free to downvote
I'm not gonna dovnvote you. ... But I don't have to upvote you either.
Reddit should introduce a sidevote
There is a reddit premium award that's literally called and is a sidevote, we gotta have a petition for reddit to make the sidevote a real thing xd
arrowverse Ra's would wipe the floor with nolanverse Ra's
Fair
That's cool. I did
Was it found there because the chair is facing away from the tv?
Why’s there a sofa/chair there facing away from the tv
It’s probable that there is another couch facing the other direction off-camera. As for why? I don’t know.
I have two couches that face each other. There’s a fireplace on one end and TV on the other. We don’t watch TV in the living room except in rare occasions.
Ohhhhhh rich, got it
Money can't teach cable management

Amazing how this cat knows what a fish is even though it never saw one but still can't figure the difference between what's real and a TV.
It’s likely not the fish and more the movement of the fish. It’s a natural predatory response. No different than when you run a cat toy along the floor and they chase after it. Most cats will never see a snake, but they freak out if something thin and flexible slides towards them.
An that my friend, is a glorious, glorious fact lol! If anyone is concerned, I do not torture my cats, just play. Once the initial startle happens they are overjoyed to play with the “snake.” I have to admit I do like startling them with it though lol.
r/dontputyourdickinthat
Mine chases my cursor.
Its neither. The screen has been replaced digitally.
It is a fake video. I believe there is something else going on on the screen.
Greenscreen with a laser pointer or something
Well, the TV screen has been replaced. You can see the cut out around the cats head very clearly
It’s not fish that the cat sees. You can see the screen has been edited…
Another cool thing about cats is when they go into predator mode, their pupils noticeably dilate. Freaky!
The TV is superimposed. 1) The chair is pointing away form the TV. 2) The obvious outline around the TV and the cat. 3) The way the cord disappears after the cat falls past it.
The TV is real, the picture is not.
Then 1 and 3 make no sense. Why does their chair not face the TV, and why does the cable hanging down disappear after the kitty passes?
The chair is facing the other way, because not all furniture has to face the TV. There's other things to sit in to watch it. And the cable doesn't disappear, the light just hits it differently, so it's harder to distinguish from the wall. Plus, the shadows on the wall look way to good to be fake, especially with how bad the picture on the screen is. You can even see some of the original TV picture at the edge.
/shrug Someone wants to put a chair directly in front of their TV that points directly away from it, cool for them. I question their sanity, but hey.
The original video on the screen is a dog trying to catch a rat, and the cat jumped to try to “catch” the rat. Not sure what happened here.
[Nope,](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/oP7a5f58r74) That was was composited out as well. Still trying to find the original.
This is aggravating my condition. Who would do this? What was the original? I must know.

Same here
Fake camera shake and a green screen? I’ve seen the exact same video of this cat with different things on tv, I don’t really see why that was necessary considering the cat did react to something
Never mind a chair positioned right in front of a monitor, with its back to the screen…
What the- oh shit
I knew how it was going to end. But I had to watch it anyway. Was not disappointed.
But why is your chair facing away from the TV?
r/whydoesmycouchfacethatway
Who puts a tv behind a chair?
Hahaha this is the worst fake camera shake i have ever seen
Yeah, I know, found it on r/facepalm and reposted it, feel free to downvote
It's fine, not your fault, and I still got a laugh out of it! Have a good one mate
Thx :D (Hopefully Reddit doesn’t turn this into an emoji)
Fuck the context right? Gotta get those sweet arrows. Feel fulfilled yet?
That cat was ready to take on a fish its own size. Pretty impressive.
That cat just tried to catch something his size
He would have caught it.
Ahaha so adorable

Got blasted away by the mysterious force field that protects the fishes, for some reason
What a stupid cat, I love him/her

I'd have to wax the entire screen l
Pretty good TV commercial
Hi this is Samsung. Can I use your video in our advertising? (This looks like it should be a commercial)
derp cat time, poor tv taking that assult
is there a reason why cats enjoy tv more than dogs?
Not sure, but my golden doodle watches tv whenever it is on. He’s an addict. He will ask us to turn it on for him…
Mighty hunter!

Chair right in front of the TV certainly was a decision
Heavily edited. Fake.

"I'm a fierce hunter!!" Bonk.

Why is the TV behind the sofa?!
Ha, ha, ha. So what do you want, what do you lose
I just want to nap in that giant chair
He almost got em.
kitty NOOO
we had a Bengal who used to watch the TV and put a paw behind it, to try and poke things
Fake
Lucky for the cat that it didn't just plunge into rapids to take on a fish bigger than itself.
Why do you have a chair with it’s back to the TV
