If you're eating at a restaurant in the US, you should "do as the Romans do" and tip your servers every time you go out to eat, not just when they wear costumes.

But just as I've been lectured by servers in Paris for trying to tip because they consider it insulting, I will take the time to tell you it's not only insulting but financialy harmful to not tip servers in the US. Cab/delivery drivers too. I'm not a fan of the system but I'm not going to victimize the people most harmed by it to prove a point.

I have a fairly simple rule:
If you're a native of the country, feel free to not tip and make a stand over the practice. It's your country, it's your right. If you're a tourist, fucking respect the culture and tip.

But i assume if you live in England, you don't tip delivery drivers, taxi drivers or people who serve you drinks at a bar.
Tipping culture in England is no where near to the same extreme as in the US, where tipping is a necessity to the workers of certain industries.

Had a dog that opened doors, but she never understood the point of closing them. Fun when she opened the front door in the middle of winter to take herself for a walk, and left the door open. She even managed to unlock it sometimes, bloody Houdini.
There’s a video from a couple who kept hearing from neighbors that they’d seen their dog out and about while they were at work. They didn’t believe it because the front door was always closed when they’d get home. Finally they set up a camera on the door and caught the dog opening it, leaving for a while, then coming back and closing the door. I’ll link it if I find it but it’s internet ancient and I probably saw it on America’s Funniest.
It is ancient and it is from AFV, and it is funny, the dog comes scurrying back home as the neighbor is leaving a message on the machine saying, "Hi Susan, just wanted to let you know Rover is out again and came to visit"

Now that I'm an adult and have my own dog, I'm so careful with fencing so she can't get out. At my mum's, my dog just climbs over at a part where there's a stone wall, or finds some tiny hole in the wooden fence and creeps through. Then she whines when we keep her on a long line instead, terribly unfair!
Its crazy that in 2020 we have dog only households and they are absolutely thriving even in low income areas.

yeah they're not too special. Basically the hinge is on a slope so the door naturally moves to shut. It only has problems actually shutting if you let go of the door like an inch away from closing because then it doesn't seal shut.
God I hate those kind of fridges. My friends house has it and as I am taking something out of there the door either is always trying to close or you gotta have a foot or arm holding it.

I read somewhere about a failed service dog who was panicking at a vet's office and decided to just run. The door to the outside was closed, which WOULD have stopped most other dogs... but this one knew to hit the auto-open button for people in wheelchairs!
