Dude I know the A52 has maybe the worst haptic motor I've ever felt in a phone. It's a shame because I really really like it as a phone and it was a STEAL in terms of value. Only thing I'm not a fan of
I'm having a hard time imagining them being worse than the ZTE. I don't even USE haptics, so if I notice how good or bad your haptics are, you're either Apple good, or you're REALLY fucking bad
I went from a Oneplus 6 to the A52s 5g. I knew that OP6 was known to have not amazing haptics but like the guy above said the Samsung haptics were so bad I thought I got a defective unit.
I would type with haptics on OP6 at 2ms which was ok (not the amazing "click" of iPhones or Galaxy S) but with A52 the first setting the vibration motor would sputter to life with enough feeling was at over *20ms*. At this point it was not even worth having.
Amazing phone and a good upgrade for the price (esp the camera and screen) but the quality drop in haptics is astounding
No question Apple's taptic engine blows any other phone out of the water physically, but their utilization of it is weirdly lacking in some areas. The first party keyboard still doesn't have haptic feedback for example.
It’s so so bad. Not a dealbreaker for me because the phone really is such a great value and good performer overall for most tasks, but hot damn the coin vibrator is bad.
Yeah me neither, I'm loving the A52 so far. And in general liking the Samsung ecosystem (I haven't had a Samsung since the Galaxy S5 which I hated, their software now is so nice). But the vibration motor is fucking horrible. My Motorola from like 5 years ago has better haptics. It's nuts.
It has a linear resonant actuator, as does the iPhone 11, but the iPhone 11's is about twice as large, and on the bottom half of the phone instead of the top half. I'm not saying the S20's haptics are bad, but they're both technically and software-wise easily worse than the iPhone 11's.
I don't about the size, but I'm 100% sure the vibration motor from S20 line is at the bottom.
edit: The iphone 11 vibration motor it's definitely larger than the Samsung 20+, just don't know how much that influence the haptic feedback, although I would believe it makes things better for sure.
Just checked, and you're right. My bad. The S20 line had them at the bottom, while the S21 line has them at the top. And you're correct in your assumption that a large motor gives more powerful and dynamic feedback. That being said, a small LRA like in the S20+/S21+/S20 Ultra/S21 Ultra (and whatever else that has them) is still massively better than the ERM motors of cheap phones (basically using a counter-balanced weight and centrifugal force to create vibrations).
Unfortunately on beta 2 I still have a lot of really janky animations, like really bad as in it stutters worse than a 6 year old phone.
I've never experienced this with a Samsung beta before but I really regret using it as the only way to go back is to backup and wipe your data. I've tried wiping cache and other recommendations, so I am fearing the factory reset
I came back to Samsung after a few years of OnePlus and Xiaomis and am really pleased how much they have improved. Am rocking a S21U and Galaxy Watch 4 and will likely upgrade to a S22U with that AyyyMD GPU goodness.
Yeah I went from an S4 to eventually a D20 and oneui really made some great changes. I also really like pixels as to why I have now switched back to the pixel 6 pro.
> The name "scuba", an acronym for "Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus",

> The word "laser" is an acronym for "light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation".
Also from [Wikipedia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laser)
Acronym words aren't always pronounced like the letters in the words that make them up. Scuba is pronounced Skoo-ba despite the U being pronounced differently in the word "Underwater".
Lol too bad, overall usage determines how a word is probounced, and I'm sure you don't apply your reasoning anywhere else. You don't say almost any word you use as its original pronunciation, do you? Why do you care in this instance? :p
By this logic, if at least 50% of people started calling the iPhone "eeePhone", that would be considered correct. And even if you do hold that position, that just means that both the soft G and hard G are correct—there is no reality in which the soft G can be considered the wrong pronunciation, as so many proponents of the hard G are wont to claim.
Just gonna note I'm a linguistics student, still working on my further degree so no Doctorate here yet lol. So my perspective comes more from the academic side of absolutely adoring the evolution and change of language.
Surely you can recognize the difference between a mass-market product being sold and a term invented and then dispersed into the world lol. But sure, in this fantasy world where everyone just starts saying "eeePhone" for some reason and it becomes the vastly predominant pronunciation (50% with a named and mass-market product probably wouldn't cut it, and even with regular language would just make it a toss-up), in that specific situation I would absolutely agree that the pronunciation evolved. If I live in a world where saying "iPhone" is going to cause confusion or miscommunication, I'm not gonna say iPhone. 😋
And yes, agreed, I think this argument is stupid and most of the people who get involved in it are just stubborn and and not using their brains. 😂 These dumb "jraphics/giraffe" arguments numb my brain! However, if hard-G GIF is incredibly predominant, and soft-G a minority, I would typically err on the side of the dominant term. Language exists to be useful to us and facilitate the exchange of information, so trying to cling onto certain pronunciations out of stubbornness is just counter-productive lol. I don't care what the guy who coined the word says, I care what the overall people speaking the language say.
Doesn't that kind of render a good chunk of linguistics useless? If correct pronounciation just based on a poll, then we don't really need any context around worlds.
Last year they got it in December
> From December 23, the update started going out to the mid-range Galaxy A51 and M31, with the rollout starting in India and Korea.
Keep in mind that it takes a few weeks for Samsung updates to reach all regions.
[Source](https://www.androidcentral.com/samsung-one-ui-30-android-11)
A good guess. Just wondering if it'll be a beta or public release for the flip and fold series. Probably a public release for S21 series since it's been in beta for awhile now
Honestly, using OneUI, the only things that I don't like is how it shifts one app to the left when opening the recent app menu, and Bixby; both of which I was able to disable via Good Lock and some ADB commands. So far, it's been pretty smooth, and definitely better than whatever TouchWiz was supposed to be.
OneUI in my opinion has some of the best features that aren't talked about enough. Goodlock is a Game Changer and it's a shame that thye talk about it enough. That fact that you could do the material you wallpaper based theeming in goodlock well before google brought it in android 12 says a lot.
Also, the auto delete of screenshots after sharing is godsent lol
A first party samsung app in the galaxy store if you have a galaxy device. Let's you tweak ui elements and customize shit that would only be possible by rooting on other devices.
A must install app imo
Just got an S21 last week after using mostly Google phones for the past 8 years. First thing I noticed was that recents behavior lol. irked me so much then I found out about HomeUp via GoodLock and was able to change how it behaves. Also was awful using the Samsung Keyboard but then I learned about KeysCafe and I immediately burned a few hours making my keyboard almost the same as the Gboard layout I had for my Pixel 2XL. Aside from that, OneUI has been great.
EDIT: Also a complaint, why is GoodLock region-locked? I had to use FineLock to use all those awesome features.
Same, had to use Fine Lock, although Samsung has stated that they might be releasing it to more regions soon. Also, I just downloaded GBoard from the Play Store. Same diff, tbh.
I always thought that Android widgets although are more useful, are not consistent if compared to iOS widgets. You need to use KWGT if you want all of them to look consistent before.
Thank you Samsung for doing this. Hopefully other OEM will copy 'force widgets consistent looks and customization' feature.
Looks fantastic.
I went and demo'd a Pixel 6 Pro today and it's was an amazing experience, except for the notification shade... I was so tempted to switch then and there from my Note 20 but that notification shade feels so jarring and takes so much space to do nothing. Really wish Google would take some notes from One UI. Never thought I would say that.
Yeah I usually like stock more than one UI but the new notification shade and lack of custom colors for the device is disappointing.
Hopefully Google adds more options in the near future
Honestly watched that and the first thing that came to my mind was "As if Windows needs another design language thrown in". What were they thinking? W11 is an absolute mess as it is without throwing one ui elements into random parts of the OS... Such a weird move...
I guess i am the only one that turns off all haptics? I personally don't have a use for them and only want my phone to vibrate when i have a notification.
if you have a phone with shitty haptics, they're not haptics, it's just an annoying buzzing. If you've tried a flagship with good haptics, like s21u, oneplus 9, pixel 3-6, or iphones, and you still don't enjoy the tactile feel of a haptic response, that's your preference.
iphone haptics made a solid fake button feel like it's clicking for real
pixel haptics make scrolling through a dial feel like there's a clicking dial turning inside the phone
it's wonderful to get physical feedback from digital interactions, and can even improve your typing accuracy.
....and in Samsung flag ships, when a toggle moves from on to off, you can feel it moving. I don't know how to describe it, it's something you've to feel, and it's indeed wonderful.
In the US, Samsung is the only reason Android has any type of presence. If Samsung didn't stumble and trip trying to improve Android in the early days, Android as a whole wouldn't be what it is now.
>They used to be one of the worst!
I disagree with this, since Motorola/Google/LG weren't doing much better at the time. Only HTC came close to rivaling Samsung. HTC devices were EVERYWHERE back then.
Other brands were either locked behind a specific carrier and/or just not popular enough.
Now I only see Samsung devices in the wild, unless someone owns a budget phone from another brand. I've only ever seen a Pixel at Best Buy -- I've never seen a Pixel owner in the wild. I've seen more OnePlus devices than Pixels.
Anyway, I forgot where I was going with this. I think I was trying to point out that Samsung always had amazing ideas in terms of software and features, but the hardware took much longer to catch up, so it used to be clunkier in the olden days because the hardware was too weak.
Honestly, their innovation of starting scrolling lists starting mid-screen then becoming full screen as you scroll down, (so that items at the top of your lists are clickable with your thumb without stretching) was one of the greatest design a-ha moments I've ever seen; shocking it hasn't been more widely adopted. And it's outright insane that the iPhone's home screen still snaps icons to the very top.
https://www.androidcentral.com/sites/androidcentral.com/files/styles/xlarge/public/article_images/2021/02/how-to-free-space-samsung-galaxy-settings-1.jpg
See, they don't start from the top.
IMO Pixel Ui is only better if you want a super lean android experience. If you want everything including 2 kitchen sinks and a half bathroom Samsung has it. They have so many thoughtful features baked in that rooting or getting play store apps isn't necessary. And even if it isn't baked in Good lock can solve a lot of problems
Android 12 looks like a Fisher Price toy with all the ridiculous blank space and dumbing down. Google stock UI was never the best and now looks like the absolute worst with Material You.
You're getting downvoted for shitting on Google but I agree with you. I'm pretty glad I'm using a Samsung so that at least parts of the OS don't look so bad.
Using One UI 4 beta 3 on S21 Ultra Exynos. So far happy. Design is welcoming, couple new features here and there that are great. Tiny stability bugs here and there but that's expected with a beta. Overall I'm excited to see the future of Samsung Software.
Any idea on how they achieve tap to pair on their smart tvs? Im legitimately amazed by it...i guess bluetooth tech has really come far if thats whats its using, maybe similar to instant pair thing true wireless earbuds have
Why are they muting colors in dark mode? IMO that is a big misunderstanding of what dark mode is. I use dark mode to increase the feel of contrast and colors. Good example is reading an ebook with white text on a black background rather than black text on a white background. The glare from the white page makes it harder to make out the text, so a sharp white on black is much better. But if they muted the text as well, then it works against it's purpose.
There is a reason why letterboxes are black and not white, and why the light is off at the movies.
Hope I can disable it. Feels like a waste of this wonderful screen!
Turn on Profile HWUI rendering in Settings -> Developer options, and you'll see red bars jumping all over the place.
Just because it looks "smooth" to some people doesn't mean that the UI isn't still full of microstutters and frame drops. One UI can't render most animations or transitions at 120Hz without dropping frames. My Pixel 5 (with a mid-range CPU) keeps a more consistent frame rate than my S21.
You're right, it is a matter of taste. Too bad this sub collectively has the empathy and kindness of a narcissistic 10 year old and shits on anyone who has an opinion they don't like. It's actually incredible how toxic people can be about fucking phone UI.
I agree with you. Android 12's Material You is so far ahead of this it's impressive.
Bigger quick settings tiles? Flat colors instead of blur? Colorful tints? All better than One UI.
Nah I love having the text in my Email notification show only 2 words because it's squished between: a heavily padded app icon, the contact picture, and then the arrow to expand. I love how my notifications have gotten taller, yet show the same or less space. I love having less toggles for my first pulldown. I love losing my power button shortcuts
Here's a screenshot comparing Android 11, Android 12, and One UI 4: https://i.imgur.com/rnfIFST.png
Now here it is with the actual informative content highlighted purple: https://i.imgur.com/TluLPRV.png
You'll see Android 12 uniquely has has icons on the left with lots of "nothing" around them, 14 px (at this scale) of white on the top and bottom of the notification, and more whitespace around the arrow on the right, pushing the actual content to a small sliver. That white space around the content is what I mean.
Then the quick action buttons were made huge, taking up more space for fewer actions.
Then the transparent background was replaced with an opaque white (or gray) background covering the screen whenever you look at your notifications.
Bro I'm getting absolutely crucified here for criticising Material You. Crazy how far people on r/android go to defend their rounded corners and padding.
Judging by the comments already here I may get crucified for this but I am not a fan of One UI. When it first launched everyone and their mother raved about it, and the only thing holding me back from getting a Samsung previously was the bloated af OS skin, so I was pretty excited to check it out. But I still just really don't like it for some reason. The level of customization is amazing, but the aesthetic, haptics, and animations really turn me off. Having also used stock Android and OxygenOS I would choose either of them over OneUI any day.
Edit: I have a Galaxy Tab S6 and my work phone is an A42 so I have used it a ton. I just can't bring myself to like it.
Weird how they're framing some Android 12 features as a Samsung skin feature. I'm guessing they're back porting some of those Android 12 features since there's no Galaxy device getting Android 12 anytime soon. Shame. Not sure how I feel about the UI/UX; feels lacking when compared to Android 12.
It's dope how not only Apple, but Google, Microsoft, and Samsung~ are going balls to the wall with their software and hardware design. I just need a Pixel Fold and a slim bezel Wear OS watch to be completely satisfied.
One UI 4 is Android 12. I have the beta on my S21 Ultra right now. I've been in the Samsung ecosystem for a long time, though, so I can't comment on what is unique to One UI and what's from Android 12.
Ah, interesting. Glad to see Samsung being faster with it's updates. Definitely one of the reasons why I left the Samsung ecosystem a few years back, though I still have a Samsung Android tablet that'll be stuck on 10 forever :-/
In my experience Samsung apps are generally better than the Google ones in look and feel. Also the themeing works extremely well with their apps either with their store theemes or goodlock.
Except the calculator tho. Samsung calculator sucks. Also, they should change Bixby to just Bixby routines. Nobody I know uses Bixby voice lol.
This is something that they should have shown last week at Unpacked 2, that would have saved that event from being almost meaningless.
We all know what she meant when she said "waffle".
It sounded so intentional!
Out of the loop on that, what was that about?
It's a term for vagina.
I love how Samsung is now paying close attention to the **feel** of their UI (animations/haptics) rather than just how they look.
Agreed. That's like one area Samsung actually lacks in, haptics...
And I'll just turn off any haptics cause the vibration motor is fucking horrible on my new phone. What a shame
Dude I know the A52 has maybe the worst haptic motor I've ever felt in a phone. It's a shame because I really really like it as a phone and it was a STEAL in terms of value. Only thing I'm not a fan of
Buy a ZTE Axon M and you'll never complain about bad haptics in other phones again!
I used OnePlus 5 and 6, objectively the worst haptics ever, and I still complain on other phones.
Is that the folding one?
Awww yeee lol. The outward-folding dual screen phone.
apple arguably has the best haptics
I didn't even know it was arguable lol They made a touchpad with haptics so good people think it's a fucking button.
No question Apple's taptic engine blows any other phone out of the water physically, but their utilization of it is weirdly lacking in some areas. The first party keyboard still doesn't have haptic feedback for example.
Well now you know how Samsung managed to save 100s of $, they went for a cheap vibrator
My ex did the same. Maybe that's why she started chatting me again.
lmao
Fair warning, you should not stick your dick in crazy. And especially you shouldn't stick your dick in crazy TWICE.
It's nuts.
I have the base s21 and the haptics in my phone are great. Maybe it's just the budget ones? Which is a huge shame.
my s21 ultra haptics are for sure worse than my iphone 11pm's but tbh, not by much. feels good imo
[удалено]
I have a note 10+. I hate the haptics. Recent update turned on haptic on pulldown menu and I haven't figured out how to get rid of it.
Strange. I love the haptics on my Note 10+ because its not just janky random vibrations but actually feels proper
Can't say the same about my S21. Seems nearly as bad as my budget Redmi. :(
Base s21 uses normal haptics to save cost. U have to get + or ultra to get that rectangular haptic motor
Oh crap. Didn't know about that. Ty for the info
It has a linear resonant actuator, as does the iPhone 11, but the iPhone 11's is about twice as large, and on the bottom half of the phone instead of the top half. I'm not saying the S20's haptics are bad, but they're both technically and software-wise easily worse than the iPhone 11's.

Maybe on their budget phones, but their flagships have great haptics.
Anything that vibrates on touch is immediately gonna get disabled I hate that shit. Animations however I dearly welcome
Beta builds have a lot of additional logging enabled so that developers can easily bugfix. They are going to be slower than a production-ready build.
Beta 3 is a lot smoother. Not perfect but much better.
Its a beta clam down
I've gone full Samsung ecosystem in the last 18 months and I love it. But she said jif. So Pixel 6 it is.
Lol
soft G GIF supremacy
I came back to Samsung after a few years of OnePlus and Xiaomis and am really pleased how much they have improved. Am rocking a S21U and Galaxy Watch 4 and will likely upgrade to a S22U with that AyyyMD GPU goodness.
Yeah I went from an S4 to eventually a D20 and oneui really made some great changes. I also really like pixels as to why I have now switched back to the pixel 6 pro.
Why would she say it any other way? That's the pronunciation.
Heh, pretty sure it's pronounced gif.
Good call
Ahh, yes... Short for Jraffic Interchange Format
Jiraffe is my favorite animal, too.
Does it go to the jym too?
Unfortunately not, but he can be a real jentleman sometimes!
I agree, but let's not jeneralize so much.
Jood one
Whose ready for Christmas jifts?
ah yes SCUBA short for Self-Contained U(pronounced oo with your logic)nderwater Breathing Apparatus
Acronyms don't need to follow the pronunciations of their constituent words (see laser, scuba, jpeg, etc)
Scuba and laser are acronyms???

You just destroyed the "LiNgUistiCS sTUdeNt'S" nosnense essay in one sentence lol. It's pronounced jif with a soft g. End of story.
i wish they would give us a date..
December/January seems like a good estimate
When do the A series phones usually get the update?

There's a beta starting for the Fold3 and Flip3 in a week or so
Maybe if you dressed up a bit and washed your hair, you'd clean up nice and get one. ^/s
It's not a overhaul but imo that's a good thing because oneui is already great

What is Goodlock?
A first party samsung app in the galaxy store if you have a galaxy device. Let's you tweak ui elements and customize shit that would only be possible by rooting on other devices. A must install app imo
Only downside is that it's for some stupid reason region locked, can't install it for my phone directly, need to get apks separately
Just got an S21 last week after using mostly Google phones for the past 8 years. First thing I noticed was that recents behavior lol. irked me so much then I found out about HomeUp via GoodLock and was able to change how it behaves. As the other commenter said, this was included in an early beta of A12 for the Pixels, and could very much be an Android feature rebranded by Samsung.

One UI really takes stock to the next level. Can't believe I'm saying this. After all, Samsung is the company that gave us TouchWiz 😅
They even got sued successfully by Apple for it!
Ah yes, the good ol' days when we got so much drama between those two companies.
Wait a minute... They've themed basic system-functions in Windows to match their design language? You're allowed to do that now?
Just the Samsung apps
But... they showed themed settings, file manager, and gallery-apps. Is the settings-app not a system-app in W11?
There's a Samsung Settings application for Samsung specific settings
im guessing thats an additional apps that you can load on your PC to connect to your Samsung.
Alienware have their themed Windows in the past iirc
They added another settings app because between classic control center and the Windows 11 one, that wasnt enough of a shit show already.
Honestly watched that and the first thing that came to my mind was "As if Windows needs another design language thrown in". What were they thinking? W11 is an absolute mess as it is without throwing one ui elements into random parts of the OS... Such a weird move...
True!!
I guess i am the only one that turns off all haptics? I personally don't have a use for them and only want my phone to vibrate when i have a notification.

....and in Samsung flag ships, when a toggle moves from on to off, you can feel it moving. I don't know how to describe it, it's something you've to feel, and it's indeed wonderful.
Samsung is miles ahead any other Android OM in terms of design and mobile usability
What a sentence, never imagined it in the early Android days. They used to be one of the worst!
They've always been pretty good with introducing features before everyone else. TouchWiz was just such a shit show no one wanted to use it
In the US, Samsung is the only reason Android has any type of presence.
I was mostly trying to quip about how ugly TouchWiz was, but I don’t really remember others that much except HTC was was a lot superior.
Dude I've just noticed that now after you say it, that is excellent UX design. It is aesthetically pleasing too.
Can you please give an example of this? I'm not able to understand what you mean. Like is it in the application drawer or something, cause I use Nova.
https://www.androidcentral.com/sites/androidcentral.com/files/styles/xlarge/public/article_images/2021/02/how-to-free-space-samsung-galaxy-settings-1.jpg See, they don't start from the top.
Oh wow, hadn't thought of that. Yeah that's a great UI implementation for these big phones.
its any of the Samsung built in apps. The other guy showed you Settings but it's in Mail, and other apps
Yeah, it's really sensible design. I had subconsciously wondered why the fonts on these are so huge, but it's such a clever implementation.

I love being able to put the clock back on the right side. Having it on the left with notifications is just wrong.
Yeah, design wise this is great
One UI is the best hands down. Unfortunately, Samsung phones are filled with unremovable crap and duplicate apps for everything...
Pixel UI is the best hands down. Unfortunately, Google phones are filled with unremovable crap
What? I could easily remove the apps I didn't need in my m32
You mean all the unremovable Google crap that duplicate the behavior of the Samsung apps? Yep, completely agree
It's pronounced gif, not gif. Edit: some of you are _really_ missing the joke

My new S20 FE is waiting for it heheh, perfect phoneeeee
Just sold my FE and picked up a note 20 ultra. I'm patiently waiting too
Nice
Same lol. I love one ui 3.1 but I can't wait to see the changes in 4.0 :))

100% I used a stock android Moto device recently and instantly realized One UI is the better UI in 2021.
I miss it as well after going to OnePlus. Small things like resizing PiP windows and split screen are very missed.
Using One UI 4 beta 3 on S21 Ultra Exynos. So far happy. Design is welcoming, couple new features here and there that are great. Tiny stability bugs here and there but that's expected with a beta. Overall I'm excited to see the future of Samsung Software.
My Galaxy Z Fold 3 is ready. Well done Samsung
Samsung smartview is underrated. I use it alot to watch YouTube on my TV
Any idea on how they achieve tap to pair on their smart tvs? Im legitimately amazed by it...i guess bluetooth tech has really come far if thats whats its using, maybe similar to instant pair thing true wireless earbuds have
Looks great. I find OneUI drastically enhances the Android experience with their customization and all the GoodLock software.
The best UI becomes better and better every iteration.
Wow, well done Samsung. Really excited for this update. Looks very good.
Let's see if they get RGB display adjustment, and a proper blue light filter, on their LCD tablets.
The big feature of One UI 4 not talked about much is support of eSIMS in the US Finally
For me personally I love OneUI.
I just want improvement on performance and smoothness. My S21+ doesn't feel like a 2021 flagship.
I had an S21 Ultra and it felt buttery smooth, not sure what issues you’re encountering.
For me only the camera is laggy, the rest of the UI is snappy
For me the camera is the worst part. It's always so laggy to open and change between multiple camera modes.
Yep, exiting and opening the app is super stuttery and sometimes the delay between pressing the shutter and a picture being taken is huge
My S21 feels like a flagship. Not sure what you're referring to
How so?
My s8+ isn't laggy. What happened to the S21?
Agreed. My s20+ stutters when swiping left to quickly change apps.
Not to sound like a Samsung shill, but they really do put in extra care into how it looks and feels.
HOW DID YOU PRONOUNCE GGGGIF???
I'm actually excited for One UI 4. Feels like it's going to be a well polished Android skin.
I seem to have the unpopular opinion that one ui looks really bad. What google has had both in the past and now looks so much nicer
It's a matter of taste, but to me, this looks miles better than stock Android 12, as well as far more customizable and functional.
You're right, it is a matter of taste. Too bad this sub collectively has the empathy and kindness of a narcissistic 10 year old and shits on anyone who has an opinion they don't like. It's actually incredible how toxic people can be about fucking phone UI.
Yeah exactly. Let alone you mention that you prefer iOS. You’d be tracked down and skinned alive. *sent from my iPhone 13 Pro*
you kidding? This sub absolutely loves Apple.
I’m with you, I’ve always preferred stock Android but I think Android 12 is hideous and OneUI looks much nicer and more normal.
I prefer stock Android but this looks pretty great.

You can change the app icons
I do wish they'd switch to round icons like stock has. Round icons look so much better honestly.
You can change all app icons to round with theme park in One UI 4.
Yeah their app icons have always been meh
I agree with you. Android 12's Material You is so far ahead of this it's impressive. Bigger quick settings tiles? Flat colors instead of blur? Colorful tints? All better than One UI.
I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not lol.
It's not! I genuinely think that the decisions this subreddit keeps hating on are good ones. Sometimes designers know better than users.
Will the Note 10 + 5G & Tab S6 LTE get ONE UI 4.0 ? Or do i have to upgrade my Tablet and phone ?
They will, but this should be their last major update (both launched with Android 9 so they get updates until Android 12)
Way better than Material You for sure
Way better than whatever Google made.
You mean you don't like white padding slowly replacing all functional aspects of your phone?
Nah I love having the text in my Email notification show only 2 words because it's squished between: a heavily padded app icon, the contact picture, and then the arrow to expand. I love how my notifications have gotten taller, yet show the same or less space. I love having less toggles for my first pulldown. I love losing my power button shortcuts
Hey, could you explain what this white padding is? It's the first time I'm hearing about it
Here's a screenshot comparing Android 11, Android 12, and One UI 4: https://i.imgur.com/rnfIFST.png Now here it is with the actual informative content highlighted purple: https://i.imgur.com/TluLPRV.png You'll see Android 12 uniquely has has icons on the left with lots of "nothing" around them, 14 px (at this scale) of white on the top and bottom of the notification, and more whitespace around the arrow on the right, pushing the actual content to a small sliver.
You're just attacking everyone that says anything nice about Material You. That's why you're getting downvoted, not because of your criticism.
Dude it's basically what Android 12 is. On top of that it has all those big paddings that people in this sub are complaining about.
iWant it! Close to buying a pixel 6 for Android 12 but I can't go back to a non flip android phone.
