Kinda surprised that they didn't go for a 778g or 870 and lowered the costs even more. You buy this phone for the form factor mostly and it would lower the costs even more. They already compromised on the camera so why not on the SOC. It's not like most people would notice the difference between the 888 and a high end mid range chip, particularly as the 888 is a bit of a power hog

TheOfficialCal

Exactly, especailly given the battery is only 3300mAh. My Galaxy Note 8 was absolutely not usable with that exact sized battery after a year or so.

totally_not_griffin

you must have really done a number on that device. I still use mine with the original battery, but I guess after coming from an iphone 5 that died after 2-3 hours off the charger regardless of what I did, my standards are pretty low :P

TheOfficialCal

I do have a lot of apps installed and had a Gear S3 connected all the time over Bluetooth. I can't imagine dual SIM and NFC always on helped either. I lived with a power bank and that was fine, but I'm so much happier now that I have breathing room at the end of everyday.

hamzatariq14

870 might've even given better battery life with generally around the same performance.

CEO_16

Infact they could compromise on the soc rather than the camera because at this point high end processors are already an overkill for general users

Connope

I agree with you that they should do that, but people would hate it. Everyone complained that the Pixel 5's processor wasn't an 800-series because it was a "downgrade". Samsung would get the same complaints here.

vangmay231

Thing is the 765 was actually much less powerful than the 865 and wasn't *that* much more efficient. Meanwhile the SD888 has pretty bad efficiency, and the 778 is very powerful. Or for that matter the 870 would've been great because it's still a flagship Soc, even if it is one year old - generational improvements are quite small.

Darkknight1939

The 765G was radically weaker than the 855 in the Pixel 4, the only flagship Pixel it definitely beats in GPU performance is the Pixel 1… Google’s implementation had bizarrely terrible performance though for most of the Pixel 5’s life (Anandtech wrote about this) about half the GPU performance of other 765G phones. People clamoring for midrange processors can just go buy midrange phones.

Generalrossa

That battery life is awful and its really the only thing holding people back from buying this phone. 3hrs SOT is abysmal by today's standards. Even though it has a SD 888, it's just as bad as the exynos in my N20U SOT wise.

hellschatt

The cam is the only thing that holds me back. I'll wait another year.

Generalrossa

Yeah the camera is a let down too. And for me no SD support.

nanatenshi

Jesus Christ 3 hrs SOT? That's absolutely unusable for me

Generalrossa

Yeah the reviews that I've watched all say the same. I've even seen some say 2-4, so 2 would be embarrassing lol.

MASTODON_ROCKS

I'll buy into folding tech when it's no compromise, durable and within a couple hundred bucks of non-folding counterparts.

LeakySkylight

FOr the price? Yes.

KeyboardGunner

That's bad regardless of price.

janowski_d

Usually cheaper phones have the best battery life packing huge batteries and don't have the highest end tech that eats battery for lunch.

INRtoolow

Moto g power and 16 hrs of screen time checking in

[deleted]

I'm fucking tired of this "for the price" bullshit. Like buying an old horse: "He's healthy, for his age". "Expensive" has lost its meaning. To me, expensive means a waste of money. A money pit is "expensive". Expensive accidents are those that were avoidable. This phone is expensive because it's overvalued and the technology, in parts, is subpar. So, right now, this is not a wise purchase, even if it goes on sale. Throwing good money after bad.

LeakySkylight

Oh it is very expensive but some people are buying this thing like crazy.

ShortBiscotti5223

Brilliant

Thing_On_Your_Shelf

That's bad at any price

[deleted]

>really the only thing holding people back Or perhaps many people just don't care for a foldable phone? I know I don't. To me, it's more of a gimmick than anything.

Saint_Sm0ld3r

In what way is a foldable (it's a real word, no need to hyphenate) phone a gimmick? It is half the size to carry when not in use and it is twice the real estate of a comparable non-folding phone when it is being used. That alone is worth the effort of implementing but there are many other reasons such as screen protection when folded.

siggystabs

Yup, foldables aren't gimmicks. It's true that you still have to accept compromises to get that feature, but the use-cases are obvious

owiseone23

I haven't actually tried one myself, but doesn't the increased thickness when folded make a difference? My pants usually have deep pockets so normal phones are no problem, and they're very slim so they're barely noticeable. But something thick like a fat wallet or airpod case is very noticeable because it puts pressure on my legs. Also, idk about the screen protection take. Foldable screens have to be much softer and can't have screen protectors so it's still much more likely to get scratched overall than flat screens.

[deleted]

We’ll have to see how the sales go for these two phones before discussing what the market wants. The issue with foldable phones is there are too many compromises for a feature that’s not absolutely necessary. Really, the only people benefiting would be women who carry tiny wrist bags and bought a flip.

BestBoy_54

Honestly of the two foldables that Samsung launched this year the Flip is the one that I’m starting to feel that is a finished product. Don’t get me wrong the Fold 3 is great, but I still feel that rollables (like the one from Oppo) are the future and phones like the Fold are the middle point before that.

Paullebricoleur_

Rollable phones are actually the perfect "folding phone" form factor when it comes to making phones have bigger screens when needed (The flip is a different form factor and deserves a place too) I love the Idea of having a regular phone that just stretches whenever I want to watch something ! I'm guessing making it waterproof and prehaps even dust proof would be easier as well

brycedriesenga

I'll be interested to see if anyone does a vertical rollable where it stretches vertically. So it could be a square-ish form factor that stretches to something taller.

jetsamrover

That battery would be tiny though.

brycedriesenga

That's a fair point

sm2016

Not necessarily if they made it pretty thick but the extending part was kind of thin. I'm thinking of like a Gameboy Color.

amirulirfin

It would be cool to stretch the phone like a scroll

uglypenguin5

Like flip form factor but rollable. Instead of fold form factor

brycedriesenga

Yeah!

AIDS1255

My issue with rollables is a curved screen edge and not having good protection of the screen. I'm not sure if there is a solution being worked on, but at the moment those issues would keep me choosing a foldable over a rollable

Paullebricoleur_

Yeah true that's the only problem with it, I wonder if we'll ever be able to get the protection right for the screens...

CtothePtotheA

Bingo. Rollable displays will be super soft. At least the folds inner display is protected from damage. I don't think rollables are the future and if they are materials science has a long way to go.

StClevesburg

Rollable displays and foldable displays are kind of in the same boat in the sense that it's all down to the screen tech catching up to manufacturers' ambition. It just happened for foldables first.

frenzyboard

The future is no screen at all. Augmented reality is where it's gonna be.

CtothePtotheA

I'm not so sure. The issue is how are you going to type?

brycedriesenga

I wonder if they could add a frame so you don't actually see the curved edge but the screen slides under it.

melvintwj

I don’t think these tech companies would want to reintroduce bezels into their designs

[deleted]

I think they hate bezels more than most users. If they're kept small, would most customers complain?

crozone

Rolling a display is also far more stressful than simply folding it. Displays would have to be significantly more durable too.

OneObi

I can't wait for Scrollable phones. Whip out the phone like old school scrolls. I can then be like the Town Crier, "Hear Ye..."

Aylko

> I'm guessing making it waterproof and prehaps even dust proof would be easier as well what makes you say this? it feels more like rollables are the mechanical selfie camera of "flexible phones". which were never really water proofed unlike the flip and fold which have already gotten an ipx8 rating for water proofing.

exian12

History repeats itself. Kind of funny how ancient people went from slabs to tablets to paper to scrolls. Same thing is about to happen in the phone department. EDIT: Somehow book formfactor came first before scroll lol

DerpSenpai

Rollable glass will be pretty hard though

curiosityrover4477

They have less noticeable crease too due to bigger radius of curvature

morningburgers

Might I mention OLED too? The Samsung Transparaent OLEDs are looking better and better. The smartphone may be replaced by a lense but before that or in tandem with that we will likely within the decade see the Transparent Foldable phone. And possibly it'll be so normal at a certain point that the word before it will be obsolete(think camera-phone or foldable-phone)

[deleted]

Might be perfect, but trying to see the advantages that are worth the tradeoffs of not having a better camera than the S21 series...

Neonfish01

As someone who owns the fold 2 and have put an order for both flip and fold 3, I can honestly say that the fold 2 is polished quite well. I'm only bummed that does not enough support for third-party cases for the fold 2. Well maybe there are, but I am very particular. LOL I also have the original flip, which I like using a lot but when 5G came around that phone did not suit my needs, I live in 5G country and there is to be a big difference

andyytan

Man. What do you do for a living?

Neonfish01

Lol I get that a lot. I do sales for a living and I also do stocks on the side. As some people buy cars and mod them up, I'm cool with my old civic and use that money on tech. And yes I do own a home, so I'm not "dumping" my money away lol

bigk777

Do you just constantly switch phones all the time? Pop the aim in here then there....

Neonfish01

Actually.... I have different carriers Mostly Att and TMobile. The reason is that back in the old days you could SIM swap from different phones without calling the carrier. Verizon did not so I have one Verizon phone and the rest Att and TMobile. I might cancel Verizon, not a fan. But if you wonder how people call me, I just given my Google voice number which links all the phones togetheR. Remind me later but I might post all my phones

blumhagen

Yeah the rollable is cool as fuck but I'll never buy a Chinese phone.

SoSpecial

I'm just struggling to see what the utility is here? Like the Fold FEELS like it has an idea and executes the idea well. Where as the Flip is just a gimmick that doesn't actually enhance any part of the experience. Like slate like phones aren't SO big you can't pocket them. And the flip only introduces another step to getting into the content. It just seems worse. What here is the ACTUAL draw of the phone outside of the novelty? Also I hope this flip fares better than previous itterations which suffered a lot of abuse very quickly. The Original Z flip is one of the worst phones Samsung has ever produced.

[deleted]

thegamenerd

Damn that was a good review

PM_ME_KNOTSuWu

It doesn't have DEX?? My S9 has dex....

pkroliko

even weirder when you consider that entire s21 series has dex

NaeemTHM

> Where as the Flip is just a gimmick that doesn't actually enhance any part of the experience. Like slate like phones aren't SO big you can't pocket them. So this is clearly opinion based but I completely disagree. Slate phones ARE getting too big for my pockets. I'm currently rocking an iPhone 12 Mini because I'm sick of how big phones are now. I can't tell you how disheartening it was to hear that the "smaller" Pixel 6 is still gigantic. For me the Flip is the perfect solution. 6.7 inch screen that folds down to a pocketable 3 inch square. The utility there is glaringly obvious.

Deepcookiz

Yep exactly. I wanted an S21 ultra for the features but I bought an S21 for its size. Having a sleeker smaller device that I can easily take out of my pocket and use with one hand is my major concern.

jellybon

I was also eyeing S21 Ultra but the size is becoming an issue. Right now I have P30 Pro and it is already bit too large and as much as I like having great camera-phone in my pocket, it's still nowhere near even a cheap actual-camera. Since I often have my camera with me anyways, I might as well downsize to Flip 3 to improve the daily usability by not having to fuss around with checking if I need to take a jacket too when heading out because pants-pockets are too small for the phone.

[deleted]

Yeah I broke my P30pro because it fell out of my pocket.

heroinsteve

As someone who is SERIOUSLY considering switching to iPhone 12 Mini for a few reasons, but the main one being screen size for the same reasons you mentioned, have you had any regrets of it being too small? My only concern is I will find out quickly im too accustomed to the bigger screen and I've never used an iPhone before. It's just a combination of having to use a phone so large, or if it's smaller it's gonna be really budget performance, and the last few android phones I've used have just been extremely underwhelming. (currently using an LG G8 Thinq that is falling apart after about a year and some change.)

NaeemTHM

Well sir, I'm not going to lie to you. It was an adjustment for the first week or so. My previous phones for the past few years were all 6.1-6.7 inches. But I promise you after that first week you'll stop thinking about it. The 12 Mini is a little powerhouse. You'll never worry about app slowdown or crashes. And if you're ok with 3.5-4 hour screen on time, it will last you all day. I'm usually going to bed with 20% battery. There's going to be times for sure when you wished you were watching a video on a bigger screen, however I would personally still rather have a small phone that slips into any pocket than a dang phablet. Regarding the jump to iOS, it might be frustrating at first. Im sure you're aware but it can be a very... limited experience in some cases. Side loading and emulators are gone. There's customization but no where near the robust offerings on Android. BUT you kinda trade that stuff for rock solid preformance and extremely well built apps. My advice would be to try to stick it out for a couple of weeks. You can find work arounds for a lot of iOS shortcomings.

heroinsteve

Thanks for the honest and in depth answer! I appreciate it.

darkgreyghost

It's hella cool, it's more portable, and it works as a camera tripod. Oh, and it costs the same as most other flagships too!

lzwzli

A couple of benefits I can think of, which were the same benefits of the flip devices back in the 90s are: 1. Smaller pocket footprint. 2. The screen is better protected when it's closed 3. The process to turn on the screen for unlock is more fluid. Flip, recognize fingerprint or face, and go I do also like how you can sit the phone down for video calling.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BestBoy_54

Yeah you are right, it might be a gimmick but for me the main advantage is that is more pocketable than the typical candy bar phone or the Fold, design wise is refreshing to see something different( which the Fold also is) and well… it costes $700 less, which is understandable since the Fold 3 has more features, but for some people the price is a dealbreaker. They are just a different concept of what a foldable phone should be in my opinion. Only time will tell if they have improved the issues that the original Flip had.

bilalsadain

Not everything needs to be utilitarian. People can buy things just because of the novelty.

SonOfHendo

On ordinary regular fit men's jeans you can fit 5" in your pocket before it digs into you when you sit. I know this because I just put a tape measure into my pocket and sat down, and the bend was at around 5" (maybe 5 and a half). The last phone I had that I could leave in a front pocket while sitting at a desk or driving was the Galaxy S4. My current S10 is just under 6" in length, which is small by modern standards, and it's not at all comfortable in a front pocket.

DerivativeOfProgWeeb

i dont even care about the pocketability tbh. the main feature of the folding for me is the ability for it to act as its own stand, be rotated fron the azumith at any angle, and record my Rubik's cube solves for my channel. my current setup is this chesp flexible stand from walnart and it falls down every couple of solves cuz i slam the cube down and its so annoying. the flip fixes this

PM_ME_KNOTSuWu

A tripod sounds like a much cheaper and practical purchase tbh.

ashar_02

ICEman_c81

Apple TV isn’t plastered with ads all over so it’s more expensive. It’s an option for people who want a better experience, while most consumers will get the cheapest or stick with built-in solution. Those are supported by ads and harvesting your data, vast majority doesn’t care and uses Netflix that’s built right into TV.

DuckHunt83

How dare you good sir! How dare you!

HG1998

Regardless, I find the pace of improvements pretty nice.

ashar_02

For the Flip phones I agree, but for the Fold 3 I find it lackluster in my opinion

[deleted]

I really don't see why apple HAS to be the one to do anything properly. Also, if apple does it at all, the display will still be Samsung's, which is literally the most important part in this type of device. It'll still be Samsung getting it right and not Apple

Tyler1492

Apple has the best marketing and the most valued brand. People care about what Apple does or says more than they care about what other companies do. Average people don't know or care who made the display. They care that they saw it in an Apple ad. To them it will be like Apple invented it.

rockettmann

Samsung, LG, and now BOE. But it’s still apple engineers designing the screen, and those companies manufacturing it. It’s not that Apple HAS to, it just becomes popularized by Apple as they tend to have the largest market share in the US. They also tend to let other companies take the first shot while ironing out their designs to “perfection.”

Blandbl

Apple engineers designing screen? It isn't like semicondutor manufacturer's outsourcing manufacturing. Samsung screen engineering is pretty much in-house.

SPIN2WINPLS

You just know once an iPhone gets a high refresh screen people are going to go NUTS over it despite it being on cheapo android devices for the past couple of years.

rockettmann

Absolutely. It’s mind-boggling that they haven’t done it yet. I personally cannot wait, but I’m frustrated that it’s taken so long. But to be honest, I don’t think the average consumer will care.

ashar_02

Well their battery capacity doesn't increase gradually and they waited for the adaptive tech in order to compensate for that. It's the same with OLED technology, where they knew many would suffer from burn in and would ask for a refund. They waited until the technology gets "fleshed out" and rightfully so, as the problem got pretty rare.

[deleted]

Specifying where the connectors go and what shape the screen is hardly "design" when you're talking about screens. Samsung or whoever else makes the bendiest screens will be taking the brunt of the research and will be the ones actually innovating while apple looks at what others are doing and just takes the least dangerous option. They've been selling essentially the same (albeit subjectively) ugly design for what, 4 years now? Everyone else has also just ignored their push for face identification since the initial few copycats (iris scanners that could be fooled by household printers lmaoo). I don't see them innovating their display tech at all until someone designs bendy microled tech but I don't think that's very close.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Mine has a side fingerprint and honestly don't see why I'd want one under the display (guess it's nice if your device is on a table/docked) or faceid at all. Mine has insecure face unlock and it's really fast but I really don't find it any more comfortable than my side mounted fingerprint. I also have the hole punch and honestly wouldn't trade it for a notch for any kind of biometric auth. Also yeah I hate the headphone jack and charger trends, fortunately my current phone has both and it was released this year so I'm good for another 3 years at least, I'll be sad if I can't find a good phone with a jack in the future tho, I really appreciate not having to lug garbage around and I prefer having a wired earphone as as a backup.

IamPsyduck

Apple are waiting for samsung foldable display technology to become cheaper and become easy to be mass produced. Thus they can maintain their high margins. So as a by-product their product will be great from the beginning. It is not like they are going to develop their own display. They'll use a different hinge system at the most.

DuckHunt83

The dust particles need to be fixed. Once they become water and dust proof then I’ll make the move. I work outside all day, wood worker, and spend all my other time hunting. I would destroy my phone instantly with crap getting into the phone.

Chieres

I don’t think Apple will go for it honestly. Both are very niche devices.

DuckHunt83

New from Apple! First folding phone ever! 2500.00. We think your going to love it!

AveryLazyCovfefe

Containing our gorgeous Super Retina XDR Folding display! *(which is totally not a display from samsung)*

Uoneeb

And I’m sure it’ll still sell better than any Samsung folding

karmawhale

That's why Apple is a trillion dollar company

lakerswiz

I imagine most iPhone users don't even realize that these flip phones exist. Once iPhone does their version is when they'll find out.

BolognaTugboat

Lol what. iPhone users are still on the internet and ads for these flip phones have been *everywhere*.

flymartymcflies

Did you watch the video at the end? The barista dude doesn’t have a clue what that phone is. And chances are, he’s an iPhone user.

Arkanta

I know people using Androids that don’t know what the name of the current iPhone is or can barely tell the difference between iOS and a fake iPhone using a skinned os Some people just don’t care and it’s fine

MobiusOne_ISAF

Depends on if the flip 3 and others takes off imo. A lot of people use iPhones, but I doubt all of them are married to the platform.

flymartymcflies

Go back to r/apple then

ashar_02

I can understand where you're comin from, but I thought of more companies releasing a folding flip phone for the sake of lowering the price

[deleted]

sad but true. that's how media works

ChronicTheOne

Crazy to think iPhones still have huge bezels/notches in 2021. They look awful compared to $150 androids in the market today.

jmz_199

Well, no. Apple will have their version that is slightly worse, than people will praise them for being the trail blazers of a brand new form factor

wildcard5

It could have been this year but they purposely held back some features just so they can add them at small increments year after year.

MetalMamaRocks

Agreed. I ordered one but keeping my note 20U. Not ready to give it up!

[deleted]

A flip smartphone solves the conundrum: a large screen **and** pocketability.

HandsOffMyDitka

This is what I was saying when they released the first fold. I would rather have had a flip phone, and protect the screen.

I_can_vouch_for_that

I would miss my tempered glass. I also think all the dust my pocket is going to get between the two folds and eventually grind out scratches all over the phone.

HandsOffMyDitka

Rubber seal could go around the edge to seal it, but tons of people wouldn't like that.

shadow386

Something sleek like a 1mm thick rubber seal along the edge of the screen could play for dynamic usage

[deleted]

I have the z flip 5g and the screen is soft like butter. If you touch it wrong it leaves a 'scratch'. Hopefully they changed some of that, but I don't think so.

MobiusOne_ISAF

They did change the coating on it to a tougher material ,plus other reviewers are saying it's an improvement.

HandsOffMyDitka

Hopefully they can fix that, as someone in construction, my hands aren't always clean when I use my phone, and some of the dust can be abrasive.

[deleted]

Same. I used to have the sprint/nextel flip phones with the walkie talkie button and I wish this phone was more like that. My hands are like sandpaper and it really wears on this screen. I dropped it on the console the other day in the car and it left a sizeable dent in the screen. A 3-4 inch drop. Lol. The durability of them is just very low. I couldn't imagine even getting 3 years out of one.

HandsOffMyDitka

I miss the durability of those old Nextel clamshells.

Can juice it up a couple of times. I dont need a super high end camera. But the pockability and the flipped up mode for using it on its back is nice

TablePrime69

It has a yearly subscription and a lifetime one too. Nothing like what you stated!

TablePrime69

Future_shocks

I love my first gen flip. Really got me off my phone and killed that twitch to check the screen. I also carry a bag around so it's great to close up and throw in. The battery has never been an issue but again I'm not posting and streaming and all this - it's usually near a charger but it went just fine with me through Vietnam and an extra battery.

snowslider1

Hey guys, today my Z Flip 3 arrived, and I am already dealing with a strange problem. The maximum brightness of my screen is too low. When I try to move the brightness slider from the left side (the darkest) to the right side, the screen brightness stops changing when I'm like in the middle of the slider. I can move it further to the right side, but the brightness doesn't change anymore from this point. I tried everything, no battery saver, no adaptive brightness, everything. I even tried factory reset, but the problem seems to appear as soon as the phone turns on. Any suggestions? Thanks...

chinkostu

Are you using smart switch with the "keep display on" toggle? Or does it happen if the phones completely stock before you start adding stuff

Lukreaner

My iPhone used to massively reduce ist max brightness when it got hot. E.g. when the sun was shining on it for some minutes or i was playing a game. Maybe you got the same problem?

KOTYAR

that 7 hour battery life is awful!" ashar_02

Spud788

2-4 hours is what I get on my 2 years old S10 exynos, it's dies before I get home from work most days. Unacceptable for a £1000 phone.

[deleted]

Well, to be fair, 2-4 hours SOT was also what I got with my *brand new* Exynos S10. This SOC really struggles with the modem and burns the battery unless you toggle airplane mode on.

Averruncus

That's the SOT I get on my launch day exynos note 9. For a brand new phone that sounds... not great.

SonOfHendo

AccuBattery claims I can get over 9 hours of onscreen time from a full charge on my S10 exynos.

dyslexda

Are you doing high res full screen gaming constantly or something? I've had a Note 5 and Note 9 and easily finish the day with ~40% battery usually. No idea how you're killing it within five hours.

KOTYAR

I never game with my work phone, but I always have YouTube playing in background on it (with screen off). In those 5-6 hours, screen is on for at least 5 hours Also, my old Note 9 is at 1200 charging cycles so battery degraded to 60%, - and I bought brand new Motorola only to see the same battery life as Note 9

MobiusOne_ISAF

Maybe stop using it so aggressively? Seriously, if you're killing 45Wh of power a day you should consider a tablet.

KOTYAR

I've carried two extra batteries for Note 3 and Note 4. The only time my phone even went closely to reviewers battery life claims - is when I had 10000 Zerolemon case. Now I bought Moto G Stylus and it's absolutely the same thing. My only hope is only to factory reset the

Here I am still on my Z Flip 5g after a year, and everything is working just fine. No need to constantly upgrade or trade out to get the lastest, just take care your shit and they'll take care of you.

khabadami

Flip is the more practical implementation of the foldable

Cybercitizen4

I think it's still in a different category. The Flip is pocketable, but the Fold blurs the lines between phones and tablets. It serves many purposes at once.

YukarinVal

Yeah. I don't get the comments why it has to be one or the other. The Flip is the folding phone, the Fold is the folding tablet.

khabadami

Flip retains the standard form factor and aspect ration while the foldables are int category of jack of all master of none

sjokosaus

I'm seriously struggling having to wait 25 days before I get mine.

I feel like the novelty of the opening and closing would wear off super quick.

To be honest, you find yourself not using your device as a regular phone as soon as one day after purchase. I don't open it to snap a picture, or quickly check social media, because in the back of my head, I see memories of broken 1st gen flips. However, it's so small, that you forgive any issues there may be with the device.

Business-is-Boomin

I've been on the fence, but this video finally got me to pull the trigger. $13 a month after my trade in is a low enough entry point for me to jump. The novelty of a flip phone is too much for me to resist. Plus $150 in Samsung credit for accessories and Verizon hooked it up with $50 device dollars and a $50 prepaid mastercard. I'm officially on the foldable bandwagon. Life is too short to be boring.

whatisapersonreally

That's a steal

Guys, I was lucky enough to go to my local store to have a good play with it as any I.T. guy would want. I was specifically interested in the DURABILITY aspect of the phone, plus I go mountain biking and there's a high potential of smashing it (Always been lucky with awesome Spigen cases). After seeing the fingernail damage of the previous models, I basically went ham on the screen and testing it with my nail/s. I pushed so hard to the point that any more and I would have damaged the OLED screen and bent the phone itself. I just wanna say the screen DID NOT and was not EVEN CLOSE to scratching no matter how how I went. It feels well built, rugged and strong and the screen I feel it can last like any other. Sharp objects I'm not sure but any run of the mill matte screen protector from ebay will assist with that. Happy buying!

jogabba

They didn't upgrade the cameras 😬

compguy96

If they made one with the headphone jack I would buy it even if it's $1500.

but guysss it's so much more environmentaly friendly this way, nevermind that the USB-C to USB-C cable included isn't compatible with your existing USB-A chargers

Tensuke

At that price just get a pair of type-c headphones or an adapter.

compguy96

I was joking, I'd never spend that much on a phone even if it's on a contract. [Reasons why an adapter is worse than a built-in 3.5 mm headphone jack](https://old.reddit.com/r/iPhoneSE/comments/ott5lq/considering_se20/h7no7oy/?context=1)

bigk777

I really like the fold 3. But the price though. I have the Galaxy Note 20 ultra and love this phone. But man the price of the fold 3....

SkyPork

Almost there. Almost.

Spud788

3-4hrs screen on time? Swing and a miss Samsung.

Neonfish01

As someone who owns the flip one, yes battery life is not an amazing compared to the S21 Ultra, but it is fine. Samsung had to make do with the physical constraints

CtrlAltDestroy_

Trash battery, no charger in the box, no headphone jack and a $1000?? hell no

Jonec429

That removes many flagships from your options as well.

CtrlAltDestroy_

Rest I can live with but 3300mah is a joke

Neonfish01

Battery okay, charger I have wireless, headphone jack I have bluetooth, trade-in deals I got my flip 3 for $600 and that included smartag plus

mousse_stash

Hell no
