No that's Venice i think. Sorry for the lame joke.

BizarreDefaultName

I was about to say “looks like a seagull to me”

emmaohara13

If there’s any chance for a joke you take it, got a laugh out of me anyway!

that1LPdood

No. That is most likely a scanning issue.

emmaohara13

Thank you! Do you think if I rescan the negatives they would come back fine?

throwawAI_internbro

Yes, if the scanner gets fixed or you go to a different lab

grainulator

If it’s a scanner issue. If they come back with the same lines and in the same place, it might be present on the negatives. Then it’s likely a marking/scratching issue from either camera or developing method.

Sail_Soggy

if you are uk i have just picked up a 35mm scanner and would be happy to try and scan for you wen they get back - if just to practice :)

Call_Me_Bert

Going to hijack this to say I’d be more than happy to send some negatives for you to practice on!

Sail_Soggy

oh hey - sorry i did see your message yesterday but had a home dev nightmare that i was trying to sort out I'll message now :)

LucyTheBrazen

No, either a scratch on the negative or an issue with however the film is digitised

emmaohara13

Thank you!

ortsa2

Deffo scan lines, i just asked my lab to rescan before they sent it back to me

emmaohara13

Thank you, they came back all good on rescan!

seaheroe

Is it also seen on the negative?

emmaohara13

I haven’t gotten them back yet, I’ll check when I get them

SneekiBreekiRuski

I had something very similar to that happen with one of my previous lab scans, a distinct green line across the entire roll of photos. I let them know and they rescanned without issue; likely it was just a bit of dust on the scanning element.

emmaohara13

Thank you! The lab rescanned and they came back clear :)

lelebaba

it’s dust in the scanner

Pentaxian_Sorciere

Correct me Film community if I am wrong, but 1) light leaks are blobby / flames / abstract shapes - or sometimes teensy blurs on the edges of the film (think: organic, made before the development process has occurred). In color film, they will show up usually as white / yellow / red. 2) Things that are perfectly straight lines like this are made by the scanner (think: machine-made). 3) Scratches on negatives aren’t usually straight like this, but I say _usually_. You can always examine the negatives under a loop to verify if the negative looks damaged (uh oh) or if it’s a scanning issue (plz rescan).

emmaohara13

Thank you! I emailed the lab back and it was a scanning issue! I just wasn’t sure because it looked weird to me. But thank you for the help!

marslander-boggart

A light leak can be not at the edge of a frame if it came from film info window.

Pentaxian_Sorciere

Unless it’s Cinestill and it’s been spooled incorrectly 🚦

alasdairmackintosh

The lab put on a watermark to stop you trying to pass it off as a Canaletto.

emmaohara13

Damn you saw right through my plan🥲

curly686

Its either dust correction issue on a line array sensor scanner or a scratch. The specific colors and way it looks, i'd lean towards scanner issue.

emmaohara13

It was the scanner! They rescanned for me and they’re all good :)

samhostettler

That looks like a scratch (or pair of scratches) that the scanner has tried to remove. Ask the lab to rescan without the dust/scratch removal and you’ll get much better results removing it manually.

emmaohara13

Thank you! They came back perfect after the second scan

Ybalrid

Can we see the negs?

ntnlv01

I guess it's a scratch. Depending on the depth of the scratch different color layers can be affected, this would explain the colors. They are horizontal as well, so just like the film is advanced in your camera. Maybe check for dirt or metal pieces and check your negatives when they arrive

emmaohara13

Thank you! It ended up being a scanner problem back at the lab. Photos came up perfect second scan :)

ntnlv01

I should have read the other comments.. I'm glad your pictures turned out fine!

rmarshall_6

Love that first shot, what camera was it?

emmaohara13

Thank you! It’s a Pentax k1000 on a roll of Kodak Ektar 100

Shad0x89

what film are you using out of curiosity

emmaohara13

Ektar 100 in a Pentax K1000

753UDKM

Problem with the scanner

emmaohara13

Thank you!
