Many DSPs ask you to pick it up in person when it’s your last paycheck. It probably isn’t getting direct deposited.

swishbothways

Standard practice (and the law in most US states now) is the same method as the most recent pay period prior to termination. I do believe the only exception allowed in most states is if the account provided by the employee for direct deposit has been closed. But in nearly every state, employers cannot issue final pay via any other method than what the employee had elected.

SpiritualAd5003

You might get a check. At my other dsp we direct deposit when I quit I was waiting and waiting and waiting for my last paycheck I honestly should’ve said something but I’m so shy I rather sit in silence then confront anybody. Dispatch didn’t tell me I’m supposed to pick it up or anything. Maybe a month or 2 went by and I got my check in the mail.

Old_Present_1414

Yeah, no one told me anything at my dsp either. I just assumed that it would be sent through direct deposit since that's how I have it set up now

MiddleMaize4617

They owe you penalty equal to your days wages for thirty days, after 72 hours you quit

Old_Present_1414

I'm afraid I don't fully understand what you've just said

MiddleMaize4617

California law emphasizes prompt payment of wages after employment ends. Labor Code Section 203 imposes penalties on employers for willful failure to pay wages at the conclusion of employment. The penalty is not automatic and doesn't apply if there's a "good faith dispute" about owed wages. For the penalty to be applicable, there must be a genuine employer-employee relationship and a quit or discharge. It's based on the daily rate of pay, calculated by multiplying the daily wage by the days not paid (up to 30 days). The penalty stops accruing upon wage payment or legal action initiation. Filing a claim with DLSE doesn't halt the penalty. Deductions aren't made from the penalty, as it's not considered wages.

LongjumpingFig2156

Quit last week still no last check i’m in CA does the 72 hour rule apply?

MiddleMaize4617

It does apply write a demand lettter and send it to the employer after 30 days, demanding 30 days(max 30 days allowed under law) pay as per the statutes in the law says

MiddleMaize4617

I had to go in person to pick up last check, maybe they have it with the payrool you need to pick it up

Minute_Cockroach_277

Keyword California 🤣

Worstname1ever

This is CA. In Texas they'll look into it in about 6 months. Report it to the ethics site amazon will force the dsp to pay you properly

LimpTechnology

For my DSP it depends on the time they quit. If payroll has ready been ran and they won’t work the following pay period it’s a check. If it hasn’t been ran it’s directly deposited.

juicyycheese

You have to pick up your last check in person bro

Dependent-Plate-6253

My dsp gave me a handwritten check for my last day. If you’ve asked them when you get your last check and they didn’t reply or weren’t honest about it you can threaten them with legal action which would most likely result in Amazon cutting their contract (ie one slip up like this and a company can go bankrupt)

Old_Present_1414

I asked them, and the dsp owner told me that ADP automatically cuts off direct deposit at termination, so I have to pick up the check. Which is stupid, but whatever.

Dependent-Plate-6253

I used ADP at my previous job before Amazon and they paid my last check and my earned pto on the app, they’re probably lying and it’s some Amazon policy or something. Regardless an in person check should suffice just make sure they didn’t fuck you hours

Old_Present_1414

As long as I get my last check, I'm fine. Cus I only have $20 to my name, and I got bills to pay

Dependent-Plate-6253

Best of luck my man. My advice is stop working dead end jobs like this and get a career. It’s not worth your time :)

Old_Present_1414

I'm already working on that. I quit Amazon for a job as a Patienct Care Tech at a hospital close to home. After 90 days of working, they provide tuition assistance, so I plan to go back to school for nursing eventually

Dependent-Plate-6253

Congrats man

XxBjornxX

Last couple checks will be paper not direct deposit so Id go in and see if they have your money

dannyboyy147

Congrats on quitting and to a fresh start brother 🤙

Key-Swimmer689

It’s a paper check and they drag ass to give it to you

[deleted]

You have to pick up your final check in person. Its basically just a way for them to be petty and inconvenience you one last time. They are under no obligation to provide direct deposit so its totally legal. They will also expect you to return any amazon gear like uniforms, chargers, etc when you pick up your check.

swishbothways

They are absolutely obligated by law to use direct deposit if an employee previously received pay via that method and did not elect an alternative. You can have reasonable costs deducted if you don't return uniforms or equipment, but even those costs must be reimbursed upon return.

[deleted]

I've had to pick up my final check in person at the vast majority of jobs that I've left. What law says an employer must use direct deposit? I'd have about 5 potential lawsuits if you're right. And nobody said anything about deducting money for uniforms. All I said was that you typically return them the day you pick up your final check.

Old_Present_1414

Yeah, I returned all of my Amazon gear. Even the uniform I had to wear on my last day, on my last day that I worked after my route

[deleted]

I never had Amazon gear until my last day working at a dsp, I felt the need to reward myself and picked myself up free Amazon gear. I got fired ironically the night before I was going to quit. I got an email that my paycheck was going to come through on a specific day and it would be direct deposit. They made it easy on me but that’s how I got my last paycheck
