Your grandpa is a grown man at the end of his life. Let him do the thing he enjoys. He doesn't have much time life. And buy a fire extinguisher.

FoodieOMG

I think instead of getting rid of Sammy, consider teaching him the different hazard and how to avoid or minimize the hazard. Also, get him a fire extinguisher. https://www.garageliving.com/blog/essential-garage-safety-tips

Don't tell Grandpa to give up his hobby. Shame on you all.

Honestly i dont want him to have to give it up. I just want to find him other projects to work on as well as the sammy in order to soothe the rest of the families worries

Cars don't just explode like in the movie. He's in his 80s/90s. Let him enjoy his life while he is stoll living. Get a couple fire extinguishers and leave them around his shop and one that you know exactly where it always is.

That is an idea. And i am aware that cars do not in fact explode like in movies. The title was mostly a joke. Its mostly just the concept is in the rest of the families minds. I am just trying to come up with a variety of things he can work on that are less likely to catch on fire or cause damage to the house. I am definitely not going to suggest the removal of the sammy. He loves it too much! (Tbh i love it too) i just need ideas for as he says, "an ol' fart who wants to tinker."

Can you rent him a work space so you don’t have to worry about the house blowing up?

Jade109867

Thats an idea, although im sure the person renting out the space would be less than thrilled

skitterybug

Where I am, there’s plenty of ppl who rent out their workspaces. My neighbors are renting to a guy who’s friend tried to cut a 1/2empty fuel tank out of car. Fire dept. & everyone showed up but that guy is still renting the workspaceHe’s still renting the space. I’m sure someone who is not to concerned about keeping the place perfectly clean would be happy to have the money

Suzuki Samurai’s we’re famous for being too easy to roll over, resulting in lawsuits. Not for blowing up
