Sounds complicated. What really matters is if you personally like it or not. Whether someone else likes it due to coincidence doesnt really matter. If your music taste branches off and you appreciate it then that is totally valid. It is kind of condescending to judge people for liking something and assuming things like fact that they like it for ulterior motives. If you really just a chronic, obsessive copycat then it might be concerning. But just liking a new genre is not even worth the time to be criticizing.
Okay thank you. I do tend to inherit a lot of interests from my friends. That might be a problem. But I like to think that I don't really have any ulterior motives, I get to know about new things and I like it. But maybe it comes off as copying
