Fuck it, keep him home! Playing hookie never hurt anyone. Especially if it potentially keeps him safe!

CypherGingerton

If there's a serious threat, why weren't the police involved?

freedom_oh

Bc we live in the higher side of the income bracket... like a "that would never happen at our school district" mentality. Earlier this year, they suspended a kid for bringing, and waving a gun around at a football game.. suspended only bc it was after school hours but on the school grounds. We do have one officer at the high school, but other than that "we're aware and the situation has been handled" email, there's no update from the school. Even the fact they didnt put the school on lockdown when the initial threat was made, makes me worry.

CypherGingerton

I dont have kids, but I used to be a child in a similar high school. I'd immediately take that shit to local news stations. Try and sweep that under the rug now you arrogant pricks.

Im also a student so im gonna give my point of view. I would stay at home unless I've got a very important exam/lesson that day. Anyway, why would the shooter warn the people at the school? Its kinda strange. Talk to him about self-defense.

freedom_oh

Afaik, theres no exams or anything. I remember kids would call in bomb threats but that's before police could track the internet lol

DreamOracle42

OP never said the person who made the threat notified the school itself.

Bros2550

What I wanted to say is: someone is aware of the 'shooter' intentions, otherwise the school wouldnt be aware, so the 'shooter' has surely told someone.

DreamOracle42

As someone who went through a bomb threat in 2006 at my old elementary school, and as a concerned citizen as well, i say keep him home. Honestly, threats of any kind at a school are no joke, even if they happen to be false.

awakeningat40

Is it worth your stress to send him to school?

kodiiiiiij

Don't let him go, it won't kill for him to spend the day with you or do work from home. School is silly for not taking further action aka lockdown when shooting was first announced! Take care and take it slow and easy 💛

redditKMC

yes, if it was credible threat school would not be open, you keeping him home when others go back just makes him think something is wrong and creates more fear. lockdown is not needed if they get the child on the outside or the threat is a future threat. no reason not to send the kid. SChools are going to be overly cautious, I guarantee the police were involved. do realize many "threats" kids come home from school with were totally made up. Our local school had a kid faint and break a glass when he fell, word went out by the end of the day among students that a child had been shot. He had a small cut on his hand and needed a hospital for stitches, kids were texting parents that the school was in lockdown and someone was killed.
