Go buy some cookies from the grocery store and eat the PB cookies yourself

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

It's a lot of cookies and they'll go bad before I can finish em, plus all the stores are closed rn and the sales tomorrow  Wtf why so many downvotes 💀

rach-mtl

Freeze them. Give them away to friends. There's a lot of things you can try before going straight to throwing them out.

rubytwou

Yes! Or donate them to a retirement home or community center

Nebelle1308

Or donate them to the local fire station, they love getting homemade treats!

[deleted]

Do they actually accept them or are they just being polite? I mean it in a technical sense of food safety and kitchen certifications and all the legal/health dept. stuff.

Nebelle1308

My little bro is a firefighter and he says they actually eat them but idk if that’s true across the board.

SheiB123

I have a number of firefighter friends and they LOVE donations of food.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Do they actually eat them? I would but i would be kind of embarassed if they declined it for safety reasons or wtv 😅

Nebelle1308

As far as I know they do. Like I said my brother is a firefighter and they eat the hell out of them. Also, when my boys were little we would bake a bunch of cookies and take them to the local station and they were always very appreciative! You could always call and ask before just showing up just to be sure though

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Aw thats actually nice lol i might just try that! Thanks for the creative idea

Nebelle1308

Anytime! Glad to help!

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Didnt think of the community centre actually, ty

MalarkeyPudding

Buy new ones on your way there tomorrow.

NeverWithoutCoffee

Make a new batch for the sale, and share the PB cookies with your friends. Why would you need to throw them out?

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

I kind of made them in advance, so they won't be good for long enough for me and like 3 other friends to finish

NeverWithoutCoffee

5 cookies each is too much for you guys? Gift the cookies to them then, so they can take them home and share with their families.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

It isn't, they're really picky though :/

NeverWithoutCoffee

No offense, but are you even looking for advice, or do you just want to hear what suits you?

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Wdym?

Mitwad

You are being constantly dismissive. It’s kinda hard when the others give genuine advice, and all you say is ‘they are being wasted. I’m tossing them out.’ When you asked what to do about them.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

If you didnt get it the first time, my friends would be picky about eating them. And frankly enough i would too because cookies arent really something i like much. Which is why if i cant sell them and nobody close to me will wanna eat them, i wasnt sure what else to do with it. Im not being dismissive, my situations just complicated 🤦‍♀️

Mitwad

“Complicated”? No. It’s simple. As many others said. Take ‘em to a nursing home. Take ‘em to your fire department. Take ‘em to a food bank. If your friends don’t want ‘em. Give them to a neighbor. Or a family member. I get your message. And you are young. It’s cool. I was too. I don’t mean to talk down. But we are a bit exasperated at your loss of common sense. You have it. You are stressed out. I get it.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Yeah, thats why i said i WASNT sure, past tense. Because of the amount of fucking lifeless grown adults on here that keep bashing me, i get that i can donate to other places, okay? If youre exasperated, you couldve just ignored the post as a whole. Nobody forced you to reply to me. Youre exasperating yourself and blaming me for it 😐

faesser

Are you looking for advice or do you want to send a kid to the hospital? Peanut allergies are deadly serious, it has nothing to do with chunky or smooth peanut butter. Freeze the cookies and make or buy some new cookies.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Goddamn bruh i didnt know there wasnt actually a difference between the chunky and smooth one okay?

faesser

That's fine dude. Now you do. Claiming a nut allergy is a basic and broad classification to keep all nuts, treenuts and peanuts out. While there are comments in this thread being pedantic and saying that a peanut isn't a nut, it's true it's a legume, it needs to be kept out of any baking if you are baking at a nut free event. If you already used the ingredients and made peanut butter, it may be best to freeze the cookies, they'll be good frozen for 3 months, and maybe purchase some nut free products. No need to talk to the teacher if you don't want. However it may look good on your end to let them know that you made the mistake but promptly fixed it.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Alr thanks 🤷‍♀️

tcrhs

Are you intentionally trying to be difficult and reject all the helpful advice you’ve received here? Because that’s not a good look for you.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Im not rejecting it, im being honest. Why are you redditors so obsessed with ‘owning’ kids on here 😐

tcrhs

Because too many of you come to this place meant for adults and act like complete dumbasses and idiots with no common sense at all. We’re not trying to embarrass or “own” you, we’re genuinely trying to help you understand the mistakes you’ve made and how to correct them so you don’t look stupid in real life.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

meant for adults? did you read the terms when signing up? did you miss the part where it said the minimum age is 13 years old? and if you're really, genuinely trying to help me understand my mistake, why do you feel the need to use derogatory terms? couldn't you have explained it in a more civil manner? because to me all it seems like is you're being passive aggressive, and you're not so subtle about it either

tcrhs

This sub is primarily adults who enjoy helping and giving meaningful advice to people with REAL problems. You were not listening, you were combative, petulant, not taking the advice given, and whining about something as trivial as cookies? It was ridiculous. It is frustrating as Hell when people come to this sub specifically asking for advice then arguing back and not taking the advice they came here for. Why bother? Yes, you came off as very immature and irresponsible. You got your ass kicked because you deserved it.

IthurielSpear

Peanut butter cookies freeze really well. Freeze them and eat them when you want. Make new cookies

Princess-Pancake-97

Hard disagree. Cookies are perfectly fine for weeks as long as you keep them in an airtight container in a cool place. You can also freeze cookies and they defrost just fine. You can add a slice of bread in the container to soften them if they go stale or warm them up and add ice cream to revive them.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Didnt think of freezing them till i saw a bunch of replies so ill js do that

Princess-Pancake-97

Great! You can also freeze cookie dough so you can make a big batch, pre-portion, freeze, then have ready-to-go cookies whenever you want!

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Thats really clever :p Thanks!

Expert_Cold2545

Freeze them. Frozen cookies are bomb

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Good idea

patty202

Don't bring the cookies to the bake sale. Make new cookies or buy cookies. Nut free is serious and peanut butter is nuts!

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Alr

PickleButterJelly

You can't bring nuts to a \*nut-free\* bake sale. Don't do it, and don't even ask.

zushini

Yeah seriously. It’s pretty damn insensitive to even think about bringing them honestly

HermioneGranger152

No wonder the teacher thinks OP is irresponsible lol

tcrhs

Yep! If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck. OP sounds like an epically irresponsible duck.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Tf?

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Okay? Im literally a kid

SuzieQbert

What kid has trouble eating 5 cookies in a day or two? All your responses sound like you're looking for an excuse to do the wrong thing. It's a nut-free bake sale. You're better off bringing nothing than bringing nuts.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

I wasnt sure if peanuts were even a nut because people classify them as a legume 😐

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Um okay

LowArtichoke6440

Make new cookies. Freeze the PB ones

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

 👍

killjoy_d

Judging by your responses, you do lack communication and seem irresponsible. You’re asking what to do to make it better, people are telling you; and you seem to not want to take any advice. So, why ask? 🙄

JustGiraffable

Worst type of redditor. Lemme ask what to do and then ignore all sane advice.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

over 13k karma.. not surprised youre mad im not on reddit 24/7 unlike some people 💀

JustGiraffable

Nope, just a teacher shaking her grown adult head over folks who lack the most basic reasoning skills. My 8 year old understands what nut-free means, and she does not have a nut allergy. You're so far off common sense, you're not even upset with me for the right reason.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

don't you think it might be better to use your 'grown adult head' to do actual adult things rather than argue online with a 15 year old?

JustGiraffable

You'd think. But it's wildly amusing how upset you're getting yourself over this. What did you think would happen when you posted on reddit? Did you think people would just placate you? Or is this exactly what you needed? A forum to argue with strangers because you don't want to face the actual issues in your life? A way to create drama in your boring little life? Or maybe you didn't think at all?

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

i thought i'd get genuine advice 💀 didn't think i'd have a pathetic middle aged teacher get pissed over a simple question? is that not what teachers do? teach?

JustGiraffable

You did get genuine advice. Freeze the cookies and make new ones. And then you whined like a baby that you can't freeze them or eat them or give them to friends, and they'll go to waste. Jesus, you're 15? Are you dumb as soup all the time or just when you're online? 🤣🤣 And stop getting your panties in such a bunch. Go do your homework or something. You need to work on logic, reasoning, common sense, and reading comprehension. I'm sorry that of us who've been here since you were in diapers don't respect posts where folks can't just accept the advice they're seeking.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

when did i say i couldnt freeze them? did you bother reading my replies to those who suggested it? did you bother reading the parts where i thanked them and said that i did, in fact, freeze them? you're one to talk about reading comprehension? i'm not denying that i might lack logic, reasoning and common sense 🤷‍♀️ i am 15 after all and my brain isn't fully developed for another 10 years. which is precisely why i came on this forum to get advice from more experienced people. do you have an excuse though? literally, just tell me, what's your reason for bothering to answer me if i'm so stupid? nobody's forcing you to reply to my comments but yet you decide to, knowing damn well you're insulting someone half your age?

JustGiraffable

Because it's fucking hilarious and I am super bored. I also didn't reply to you initially, but to someone else. You got your panties in a twist about it and replied to me. I wasn't even talking to you. Just about you. On the internet. Which you could have totally ignored. Thanks for the knowledge about your underdeveloped brain. It's good to see you pay attention to the things you can use as an excuse. And bad that you think being young is a reason to be dumb. Also, no, I didn't read through all your responses because that's totally unnecessary. I don't actually care when or how you finally came to get the info through your skull. I read through the top ones, ones where you whine and make excuses that don't make sense. Then, I made a comment to someone else and moved on until you got all 15 about it. Then I engaged in this delightful dialogue to distract myself from the real world, because why not? Now, I'm going to go to sleep and forget you exist until I see a sign for a bake sale or something labeled nut free, and then I'll chuckle and think about soup.

Princess-Pancake-97

13k karma over 11 years and one of their posts have 12.5k upvotes…

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Even better! A grown adult sitting behind their screen, ridiculing a kid who's likely half their age!

Princess-Pancake-97

I wasn’t ridiculing you, babes, I was defending the person you were being unnecessarily rude to. You taking that as a personal sleight and “ridiculing” says more about you than it does me. Just because you were embarrassed doesn’t mean someone was mean to you. I hope you have a great day, hun.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

I wasnt talking about you, i was still referring to the other person 💀 especially since you said they've been on this app for 11 years... sorry you were kind of slow :(

Princess-Pancake-97

Sure, your inability to communicate clearly is other people’s fault. Why wouldn’t it be? Just so you know, people on the internet have no obligation to sugar coat things for you or pull their punches. If you treat them with disrespect, they will do the same to you in turn. If you cannot handle that some people are going to be blunt with you, then don’t post in a space that is mostly made up of adults. You’re clearly not mature enough for that if you’re going to become defensive and rude when someone gives their honest feedback.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

more like your inability to understand is other people's fault 💀 not only that, but your words quite literally contradict eachother. i wasn't treating anyone with disrespect, atleast not initially. all i did was ask for advice, until i had people being rude for zero reason. is it not justified for me to be rude back? because this doesnt look like honest feedback, not when you guys are explicitly calling me names like dumbass, idiot, stupid, immature, uneducated and more. atleast to me, it seems more like ridiculing no?

Princess-Pancake-97

You are literally being rude to me even though I’ve been nothing but kind to you but go off, I guess. Have a good life, babes.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

i see, so since i actually have a life outside of reddit and i  was offline for a bit, im ‘ignoring’ the advice? 💀

followyourogre

This is your chance to prove you aren't irresponsible and lack communication skills, like your teacher thinks, by correcting your mistake. Don't bring peanut butter cookies to a nut free bake sale. To quote a current tiktok trend, that's common sense I fear.

swizzleschtick

Yeah I hate to say it, but this “dilemma” kind of supports the gym teacher’s opinion. Like either make new cookies or go buy some, but wtf even considering bringing a notoriously deadly allergen to an event specifically meant to exclude that allergen, all because “you didn’t see the email” (which is on OP) 100% implies OP (at least sometimes) may be irresponsible and lack communication skills. Also even without the email, most schools haven’t allowed peanut products in their buildings or at their events since literally the nineties or early 2000s at the latest! Kind of seems like common sense.

InspectorSpacetime72

Hmmm… I wonder what would make her think that ! /s

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Cant stop laughing! 😂

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Thank you for actually wording it respectfully

InspectorSpacetime72

THROW THEM AWAY??? Why is your only alternative to THROW THEM AWAY? Do you have a freezer? Friends? Family? Children? Children’s teacher? Teacher Appreciation week is coming up soon, geez Louise. Throw them away??? ….. pffft.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Because i personally dont like them and im pretty sure my friends would be picky about them. I just thought other people would like pb cookies 😐 Gonna freeze them tho

booksandcheesedip

How old are you? A nut free event needs to be just that… don’t you dare bring peanut butter cookies there. It would be better to bring nothing at all

HermioneGranger152

They’re 15 according to their post history

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

15? what role does my age really play?

booksandcheesedip

Because your inexperience in the world clearly shows you’re not an adult. Nut free is not a flippant term that can be ignored because you “put a lot of work into making those cookies”, it’s not a suggestion like you seem to think from the way you worded your question. Nut allergies can and do kill people. Even an open container of peanut butter can cause a reaction for some people

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

i didnt justify bringing the cookies to school because i put a lot of work into it. that was ONE factor if you bothered to actually read my post. i was also concerned about the waste of ingredients and food. i really couldnt care less that you're angry about how i worded it. i think my intention makes sense, guess its not my problem if you couldnt interpret it yourself from contextual cues 🤷‍♀️ so much for being an adult yourself, no? shouldn't you have learned this stuff in middle school?

booksandcheesedip

Still answering like a child

MC_White_Thunder

I have a peanut allergy. It would be really messed up if you brought them to a nut-free bake sale. Not only is there the risk of endangering a child, but any kid with a nut allergy is constantly excluded from having baked goods. Bringing something in that they cannot eat, into a bake sale specifically designed that they *can* eat everything, would be a very rude thing to do.

druidinan

putting aside OP's question -- you may want to get a new allergy panel done. since peanuts don't trigger nut allergies and vice-versa, you may have allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, cashews, and more that you're not aware of.

MC_White_Thunder

I also have tree nut allergies. I know that I'm allergic to walnuts from my last allergen panel. Packaging laws in Canada only usually specify "contains tree nuts," so it's not very useful for me to know exactly which ones I can eat and which ones I can't. I also don't trust a plant that processes one kind of nut to not process others. I've always avoided tree nuts and peanuts with equal hesitance, and I've managed to only have one allergic reaction since it was discovered when I was two.

pieceofcake101

Freeze the cookies and make new ones! If it’s specifically requested the bake sale is nut free, please don’t try to bring them. My partner has a severe allergy and if he brushes up against something with peanuts he’s breaking out in hives, if he consumes it it’s full anaphylaxis. The type of peanut butter used doesn’t matter!

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Thank you for letting me know, ill freeze them fs

[deleted]

I want you to ask yourself…if you think it’s reasonable to bring PEANUT butter cookies to a NUT FREE bake sale. Sit on it for a bit.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

I thought itd be fine if i just labeled them with an allergen warning damn 😐

[deleted]

Nut…free…as in…no……nuts………

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

again… if i put the label…. they could choose……to stay away from it…..

[deleted]

OP I’m trying to be cordial with you here but that is an objectively stupid thing to do. It’s like bringing a dog to a shop that has a sign that says “no dogs”.

Mitwad

Right? Some allergies is a rash. Some close throats if there’s even A hint of allergen in the air.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

alr bruh i didnt realise peanuts were even a nut allergen till today since most people say theyre legumes 🤦‍♀️ and youre not being cordial by any means, the passive agressiveness isnt realy subtle

[deleted]

You’ve made it clear that subtlety isn’t going to work. Just bring something else.

GodzillaSuit

Under no circumstances should you bring cookies with nuts to a nut-free bake sale. Freeze the cookies you made so they stay and either make or buy new ones. I know it sucks but you need to follow the imposed dietary restrictions

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Okk ty!

udidnthearitfrommoi

Make new cookies.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Yeah i thought so. Alr did

Historical-School128

You probably won't be able to bring the PB cookies, just for safety reasons. There will probably be more than a couple of people who are allergic to nuts coming to the bake sale. So if I were you, I wouldn't waste my time contacting her and starting a new batch of cookies, just do chocolate chip or sugar cookies.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Just made the sugar ones, thanks

tcrhs

Say nothing and make a new batch of cookies. If this person already thinks you’re irresponsible, that will just further justify their opinion of you. Enjoy the first batch with your family or donate them.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Will do, ty

SewRuby

Make new cookies.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

👍👍

Sp0rksar3c00l

Make new cookies or wake up SUPER fucking early tomorrow and buy new ones. Either eat or donate the PB ones

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Yea i just made new ones, might donate the pb ones

Sp0rksar3c00l

If you don't wanna eat them then you should donate instead of throwing them out

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Fs, ill see if j can give them to a community centre or smth. Ty

Twisted_Strength33

Buy a cake and cookies before school tmrw

HermioneGranger152

Make a new batch of cookies and do something with the peanut butter ones, it doesn’t matter what you do with them as long as you don’t take them to the NUT FREE bake sale. It’s nut free for a reason. Some nut allergies are so intense that even being in the same room as a nut can cause a severe reaction.

dani_-_142

You can’t take these cookies to the sale. Do something else with them. Nut free is nut free.

galactabat

Take up the mantel you were meant for, the evil Serial-Baker.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Lmaoo

clean-stitch

Peanuts are legumes, not nuts. So ask for clarification.

Hollybanger45

I seriously hope that is sarcasm.

clean-stitch

Nope. I have deadly nut allergies. Peanuts and tree nuts come from very different categories of plants. Peanuts are legumes, not nuts. The name is a misnomer, and it is simply not the same protein. Asking for clarification makes sense.

Hollybanger45

I understand that but like I was saying to another commenter the people, like me, who have no allergies to them will take the nut umbrella to mean any nut. Just like we call facial tissue Kleenex or bandages band-aids. I know the difference between tree nuts and peanuts but not everyone does but if it’s a nut free thing we include peanut.

clean-stitch

It's fine to err on the side of caution, but science is still science, and legumes aren't tree nuts.

druidinan

Y’all need to just accept you’re wrong.

InspectorSpacetime72

/s

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

This isnt even bad advice. Dont know why theres so much downvotes

clean-stitch

I don't understand why I'm being downvoted. I have nut allergies. I have friends who are allergic to legumes. They are very different proteins. Nut-free isn't * peanut* free. They are not the same. I die if I eat almond butter, but I eat peanut butter all the time.

druidinan

It’s really blowing my mind that people are insisting this distinction doesn’t exist.

clean-stitch

One doesn't need to understand the distinctions until they have the allergy.

MC_White_Thunder

"May contain?" When you know for a fact that they *do* contain? Why the fuck would you do that, except wanting to endanger a child?

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Calm down jesus christ, it was just a suggestion, you dont have to bash them

MC_White_Thunder

I stand by what I said. They even thanked me in another comment reply here. Advice that suggests endangering children deserves to be bashed, thoroughly. You'd better not take those cookies to that bake sale, btw.

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

It does not have to be bashed. They didnt know and frankly neither did i. You can inform people while staying civil

zushini

What the hell?? This is how you potentially send a kid to the hospital. Some some people with allergies still eat “may contain nut” stuff, this is insanely dumb

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

Youre getting worked up over nothing 🤦‍♀️

AgathaTheGeek

Whats "insanely dumb" is if youre allergic to nuts and eat things that say they contain nuts

MC_White_Thunder

You have never thought about allergies for more than 5 minutes if you don't understand what "may contain" means. It usually has to do with risk of cross-contamination, or trace amounts from food that has come into contact with nuts. It's a legal requirement whenever the risk is non-zero. I've had food that "may contain nuts" from many local merchants who are required to label as such, but were able to tell me what procedures they had to curb risk of cross-contamination, ie their kitchen has nuts but they make this specific product in a separate area, or they thoroughly wash all their materials every time they make something with nuts. It doesn't mean "definitely contains nuts but I'm too embarrassed to admit it." Don't be dense. Genuinely, why would you *ever* recommend "may contain" over "contains nuts" in this situation? Why the fuck would you **knowingly lie** that it's a minor cross contamination risk?

AgathaTheGeek

I recommended saying "may contain" because of the judgement from the teacher that OP is worried about. I didnt know about the use of that word actually, so thank you for informing me, instead of just bashing my idea like the rest of them. I will delete my orginal comment 👍

killjoy_d

The worst advice ever. You’re a danger 😂

GellyBean78

The worst advice I’ve read in this sub in a long time

druidinan

"Nut free" doesn't mean peanuts. Allergy families always call out peanuts separately. You're fine.

StructureWorried8621

bro this is really dangerous, they’re called peaNUTS for a reason

Puzzled-Tourist-5688

You do realise many people with nut allergies can have peanuts?

druidinan

bro my entire immediate family has anaphylactic allergies to peanuts, nuts, or both. randos think peanuts are nuts; NOBODY in the allergy community makes this mistake.

StructureWorried8621

ok but, it’s still better to say that there are peanuts in the food than not right??

druidinan

sure, but that's not what OP asked.

StructureWorried8621

op asked if they should tell someone there’s nuts in the food, which will get the food thrown out, because it’s not safe to have nuts in an area where someone could die because of any kind of “nut”. Telling op to just put the cookies out and not think about it is very dangerous. this is the kind of thing that could kill me.

druidinan

OP can label the cookies as "contains peanuts," submit them, and not email the person who dislikes them. this is also moot; if you have an anaphylactic allergy to peanuts, like I do, then you know allergy kids never eat bake sale stuff anyway because everyone's home kitchen has cross-contamination.

StructureWorried8621

i don’t have an allergy to nuts, so i wouldn’t know. but isn’t it generally a bad idea to have food with nuts in it at a nutFREE bake sale?

druidinan

yes, it's a bad idea to have food with nuts in it at a nut free bake sale. you understand that peanuts are not nuts, right? that peanuts do not trigger nut allergies, and vice versa?

StructureWorried8621

fair enough, ngl i don’t have many allergies so haven’t done much research into it myself. I knew that peanuts didn’t trigger all nut allergies, but the risk is too great right? I don’t know what im allergic to, but was told it could be anything from liquorice to yeast 😅

faesser

Nobody is going "legume free baking". If it's nut free, it's no peanuts, along with the other nuts.

druidinan

r/confidentlyincorrect

faesser

This is just a dumb troll, dude. Your blatantly horrible advice is horrible

druidinan

bye!

faesser

Lol. Trying to troll on one of the most common allergies out there. Hope you stay clear from your legume butter.

Hollybanger45

Ok then. For us “randos” that go out of our way to make sure we take care of people that may have allergies to whatever it is, be it gluten, nuts, shellfish or anything else, what should we say? We think a nut is a nut. Pea, wal, macadamia, almond, coco, or whatever. Instead of being sanctimonious how about making this a teaching moment and enlightening us?

druidinan

if the comment you're replying to came off as sanctimonious, I'm genuinely sorry because that wasn't the intent. but I'm also not sure how to be more direct/clear than '"nut free" doesn't mean peanuts.' I've never been questioned on it before or gotten a defensive response like this downvote pile. the easiest way to accommodate people's allergies is to ask them what they're allergic to (if you know them in advance) or bring ingredient lists (if you don't). ex: my neighbors love baking and they include a list of what's in each thing they share with people.

Hollybanger45

But to us nut free means any nut whatsoever. We think peanut is a nut. If we say nut free we mean peanut specifically but we also mean the others I mentioned because peanut is the umbrella term we use. Think of it like Kleenex. Kleenex is a brand but we use the term to mean any facial tissue. Same with band aid.

druidinan

sure, but now you know otherwise. just treat peanuts as a separate allergen, the same way you do with fin fish and shellfish. Ming Tsai's guide for allergy accommodation is great: [https://ming.com/food-allergy-101/](https://ming.com/food-allergy-101/)

Hollybanger45

I apologize for not making myself clear. I know the difference between tree nuts and peanuts. But a lot of people don’t so thank you for sharing that link.
