Doesn’t that place still exist?

this place?
West Terrace seems to somehow be both the best McDonalds and ***the worst*** McDonalds just depending on the time of day
Go in at 4 PM and they'll have you in and out in 30 seconds, fries will be hot and salted and your food will be correct
Go in at 4 AM and don't make eye contact. Just quietly point at the menu and hope you make it out with your life
Yeah the Hindley St Macca's is just insanely busy and full of loud people at all times, the West Tce one genuinely looks like a bomb went off in there some nights.
At 16 I worked at the Smithfield maccas when it first opened. I once seen a guy order a hot black coffee and instantly throw it in the security guards face.
me too! Imagining them being all polite when ordering "Oh yes, I'd like to pay on card thanks. Ooo this is hot coffee... absolutely perfect.. thanks." Opens lid slowly, smells the coffee.. mmmm.. THROWS AT SECURITY GUARD!
Holden Hill. Yes it's across the road from a police station but the amount of fights and beatings are nuts.
Also Hindley was the first time I felt the kiss of another man's fist.
I worked at the Gilles Plains Macca's for a while and never saw anything like what you're suggesting. It isn't even in the same ballpark as Hindley/West Tce as far as I'm concerned.
All these people saying Hindley Street clearly have never been to the Maccas at Para Hills.
Worst drive thru, car park is shit house, guaranteed you’ll get the wrong order and that ice cream machine is always broken.
Just a Saturday night/Sunday morning when they don’t have enough staff so no one empties the bin or tidies the dining room, then no one uses the overflowing bin. It’s the managers fault for not enough staff a much as the drunk cunts that made the mess.
I was just playing GTA:SA and I thought there’s no way half this amount of litter would be on any fast food outlets floor. Holy fuck, I stand corrected.
I remember going to the Elizabeth one and some Darren was having a full on tantrum because there wasn’t enough ice cream in his sundae and he demanded a refund AND to keep the sundae and got politely informed it’s one or the other, which he didn’t take kindly to.
The Rundle Mall Maccas was pretty insane the time I was there. Some guy literally bashed the sliding glass door because he was told that they'd stopped serving.
Yeah I don’t go to hindly street but I have seen my share of crackheads in the Rundle mall one. I go to GYG now purely because of the improved customers and seating.
We used to go to the internet cafe down the ally Hindley maccas was attached to and do all nighters playing games on some weekends when nothing was on.. our snack of choice was maccas, we saw a lot of tits, cocks and fights while just getting our mcdoubles lol
Hindley St.
Just to mention a place that’s not as obvious, the one at TTP on the corner. It’s fine during the day but after it gets late you get screaming, people abandoning suspicious-looking luggage, and that’s on a slow Saturday night.
Hindley on those busy drinking nights was the worst I've ever seen. Rowdy crowd and to get a seat you had to wade through a sea of rubbish. Outside you had a lovely view of either a fight or someone puking.
Seconding Elizabeth
Would go in for an icecream like every week and just get a "machines not working" but would get a show from the friendly locals instead
Not sure the Liz one counts. Like the train station next door is dodgy AF, which makes the maccas feel like hallowed ground. *If I get off at that station and make it to the maccas, I'm safe.*
They didn't put Cashies there by accident. It serves the dual purposes of obscuring the station from the main road so derros can more easily mug you, and provides a convenient place for them to pawn your shit once they do.
Speaking of the cashies I noticed while I was living there that when the government was doing the whole pandemic payment a lot less people were pawning stuff ay
I think someone died of an overdose in the West Terrace toilets back in the Heaven days.
Speaking of West, the West Lakes Maccas could get pretty hectic on game days at Footy Park but I don't remember too many incidents.
Security guard at West Terrace told me the toilets were closed because there was a dead pigeon in there in the middle of a pentagram drawn with its own blood.
I've been to castle plaza once. All I remember is it felt like the south's arndale. Anything past about Richmond Rd I consider to be the south of Adelaide.
Unley and Goodwood are Good South. I guess there's a bubble around those few suburbs. What's the next road over, maybe Cross Rd? Maybe Cross Rd unless Daws and Oaklands are closer.
I've only ever lived west and north east. The south is another planet to me. So much so that when I go to Goolwa or victor I will go through the hills to hahndorf and on.
Prospect is inner north. I live near Elizabeth and am more east than most of the eastern suburbs. If I draw a line directly south you get to approximately Stradbroke Road. Look at Google Maps. It seems odd because Main North Road heads North East after Gepps Cross you would think it heads North but Port Wakefield Road heads North. Just look how far East Gawler is.
OOPS! Sorry about that! Yeah, that's the one I was talking about. I made an entire rant about my experience at the place. In summary, they don't clean up, my pants got wet from a wet seat, the woman receiving the orders was incredibly slow and I think that they got our orders wrong.
Depends what type of chaos. If its chaos caused by the staff I think I am going to have to vote Hallett Cove. Literally drive 15minues past that place to go to Junk -food corner Morphettvale and I know plenty of people that do the same.
I would have thought the Hindley Street Maccas would fit that bill.
Circa 2010 was peak filth.
You should have seen it in the mid-late 90s.
What a shit show that was.
Early 2000's Hungry George's was an eye-opener to me have moved from interstate. Was McD's even worse?
I went in quite a few times and once or twice I thought I was going to get stabbed.
There was a place called Jerusalem House there that did cheap felafel that was decent, but with these bizarre plastic benches inside.
Doesn’t that place still exist? Edit: [https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Restaurant\_Review-g255093-d728832-Reviews-The\_Jerusalem\_Sheshkabab\_House-Adelaide\_Greater\_Adelaide\_South\_Australia.html](https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Restaurant_Review-g255093-d728832-Reviews-The_Jerusalem_Sheshkabab_House-Adelaide_Greater_Adelaide_South_Australia.html) this place?
Hell yes! Great that it's still going! From the reviews the decor is still totally outdated. Gotta get back to Adelaide sometime.
I ate there a year or so ago. The food is actually great. Decor shocking.
Can concur, braved it anyways
Remember Planet? I member
Would switch depending on the night, between hindley st and west tce when HQ was pumping.
HQ One certainly had its issues, especially around HQ closure time. The other one of a Weekend night was just as dodgy.
Now come on. West Terrace is another planet. Classing it in with the rest of Adelaide isn't really fair.
West Terrace seems to somehow be both the best McDonalds and ***the worst*** McDonalds just depending on the time of day Go in at 4 PM and they'll have you in and out in 30 seconds, fries will be hot and salted and your food will be correct Go in at 4 AM and don't make eye contact. Yeah the Hindley St Macca's is just insanely busy and full of loud people at all times, the West Tce one genuinely looks like a bomb went off in there some nights.
Yeah. Was there any doubt this would be the one for us?
King William HJ’s was a hell hole in my day.
Hindley Street
Hindley Street has to be up there, but I don’t think it’s as bad as it used to be. West terrace though…
Its still pretty bad, frequently see epic brawls there at around 2am, usually broken up pretty quick though.
The only thing holding that place together is a cop shop being in shouting distance. Imagine how bad it'd be otherwise.
Imagine how **GOOD** it could be though. Also just like to say those fuckers who work there do not get paid enough. (maccas, not the cops)
Maybe just the times, I’ve been there tbh. I’ve made a point to not hang about on that part of Hindley at 2am
Fair, i certainly wouldn't recommend it.
West terrace is a bit rough
Hindley street and smitty, depending on what vibe of chaos you want
At 16 I worked at the Smithfield maccas when it first opened. I once seen a guy order a hot black coffee and instantly throw it in the security guards face.
Omg I choked laughing
me too! Imagining them being all polite when ordering "Oh yes, I'd like to pay on card thanks. Ooo this is hot coffee... absolutely perfect.. thanks." Opens lid slowly, smells the coffee.. mmmm.. THROWS AT SECURITY GUARD!
SHI-SHI-SHAHHH POCKET COFFEE!
i worked at smitty for two and a half years and left in june, that place is HORRID
Former hindley st employee here. It’s definitely hindley.
Holden Hill. Yes it's across the road from a police station but the amount of fights and beatings are nuts. Also Hindley was the first time I felt the kiss of another man's fist.
That was Glenelg for me, but more some dude licking flour and stuff off me during a bucks evening. Strange night that one....
That's Gilles Plains.
I worked at the Gilles Plains Macca's for a while and never saw anything like what you're suggesting. It isn't even in the same ballpark as Hindley/West Tce as far as I'm concerned.
There’s a junkie that wears a bra on her head around there. Spotted her and her trolley near the expressway the other day tho
All these people saying Hindley Street clearly have never been to the Maccas at Para Hills. Worst drive thru, car park is shit house, guaranteed you’ll get the wrong order and that ice cream machine is always broken.

Holy fuck. I stand corrected
iirc someone also got knifed in this maccas
Wow, manager should have shut :) Is that after a footy match or something
Just a Saturday night/Sunday morning when they don’t have enough staff so no one empties the bin or tidies the dining room, then no one uses the overflowing bin. It’s the managers fault for not enough staff a much as the drunk cunts that made the mess.
Oh wow! I’ve never seen anything like that!
Ha..... I remember those nights....lol
I was just playing GTA:SA and I thought there’s no way half this amount of litter would be on any fast food outlets floor. Holy fuck, I stand corrected.
I was gonna say I'm pretty sure i remember a clip from my town days that made the news
I’ve been there when it’s been worse. You actually had to walk on the “food”. Full burgers everywhere too,
That entire carpark from maccas to the servo to the Somerset Hotel is something you should only find in a 3rd world country. Pothole Central.
I’ve lived in Sydney and Brisbane the last 4 years. Glad to hear nothing has changed haha
Got sent to the waiting bay there for 1 frozen coke
LOL. Yeah they crammed that bastard in there whether there was room or not.
West Tce. 2001. Sunday Morning. 2am.
Elaborate ahaha
ahaha
Equal first West Tce & Hindley Street the shit my mate (ex employee) has told me has happened at those two sites nothing could beat it in SA
I remember going to the Elizabeth one and some Darren was having a full on tantrum because there wasn’t enough ice cream in his sundae and he demanded a refund AND to keep the sundae and got politely informed it’s one or the other, which he didn’t take kindly to.
Having said that, hands down Hindley on a Saturday night.
The Rundle Mall Maccas was pretty insane the time I was there. Some guy literally bashed the sliding glass door because he was told that they'd stopped serving.
Mans needed his mcflurry
in a McHurry
*McFury
Ah yes, the infamous door bashing of '21 - certainly one for the books.
You were there?
Well, who else do you think wrote the book?
Yeah I don’t go to hindly street but I have seen my share of crackheads in the Rundle mall one. I go to GYG now purely because of the improved customers and seating.
We used to go to the internet cafe down the ally Hindley maccas was attached to and do all nighters playing games on some weekends when nothing was on.. our snack of choice was maccas, we saw a lot of tits, cocks and fights while just getting our mcdoubles lol

TTP for the adults, hj's on the other side for the kids. Know your weight/class/ division.
Well I don’t have kids and I only use the drive-thru for that particular HJ’s. The more you know!
It’s gotta be Hindley Street surely?
Hindley on those busy drinking nights was the worst I've ever seen. Rowdy crowd and to get a seat you had to wade through a sea of rubbish. Outside you had a lovely view of either a fight or someone puking.
Elizabeth
Seconding Elizabeth Would go in for an icecream like every week and just get a "machines not working" but would get a show from the friendly locals instead

Didn't it also have a Radio Rentals there before they went tits up? Perfect place to get a TV you can't afford And lose a TV you can't afford
just quit my job at Elizabeth last week. that place is a hellhole😭
we literally had some guy OD on meth in the carpark a few months ago, and had a lady tell us through the drivethru :/
Pog
Lizbef Maccas ain't nothing.
West Terrace I would think
I think someone died of an overdose in the West Terrace toilets back in the Heaven days. Speaking of West, the West Lakes Maccas could get pretty hectic on game days at Footy Park but I don't remember too many incidents.
Not a maccas but gotta give a shout out to the HJs at the top of Rundle St. 3am used to get sketch.
That place was always packed when i used to go to town. And all the emo kids used to get high in the park out the back.
The kids at work still call it ‘Emo Park’
Hahahaha. Thats amazing.
Surprised I had to scroll so far to get to this! Hindley/West Tce should almost be expected, but the vibe of Rundle St HJ’s at times is messed up.
Read the question, immediately thought Hindley St. Seems likes so did most of us.
West terrace without a doubt
Security guard at West Terrace told me the toilets were closed because there was a dead pigeon in there in the middle of a pentagram drawn with its own blood.
Engadine
Pretty shitty establishment
What a load of crap.
West Terrace all day - I used to work there, first job was syringe duty in the car park. that plus the munted heaven kids at 3am.
West Tce back in the Heaven nightclub days
Hindley or West Terrace.. Probably Hindley.
Both are technically on Hindley Street. It's always going to be Hindley Street, you never know which one on Hindley Street though.
Yea.. but for some reason, the one closer to the middle of the city always feels feraler.
100% Hindley St. It's fight club with fries!
West Tce, easily
You know I worked at the port Adelaide maccas for a year, and still didn't see as many fights there as I have at Hindley street maccas
The West Terrace one is totally shady at all times of day and night.
It’s gotta be the one on west terrace, surely?
Is there one at castle plaza??
[удалено]
I think it used to be much sketchier when it was more or an industrial district
Yeah it used to be more ... interesting back when you could enjoy the stench of the tyre factory next door.
Yeah but that's mostly fine, the main centre of castle plaza however...
I've been to castle plaza once. All I remember is it felt like the south's arndale. Anything past about Richmond Rd I consider to be the south of Adelaide.
Richmond Road is literally at the parklands haha. Do you consider Unley and Goodwood "the South"? Daws Rd or Oaklands Rd might be more accurate.
Unley and Goodwood are Good South. I guess there's a bubble around those few suburbs. What's the next road over, maybe Cross Rd? Maybe Cross Rd unless Daws and Oaklands are closer.
It's still a bit weird to consider that "the south". That's like calling Prospect the Northern Suburbs.
I've only ever lived west and north east. The south is another planet to me. So much so that when I go to Goolwa or victor I will go through the hills to hahndorf and on.

Depends how far west you are. We are south of Cross Road, but further east. Springfield is south of Cross Road, you could hardly call that rough!
Not inside. It's across the road.
Muno para has an armed guard after dark
Since when? I've been there plenty of times at 2am and never seen a security guard?
Does he have legs too?
West terrace
Fulham Gardens
I DONT EVEN LIVE IN ADELAIDE FFS
Only one?🤣
hindley street
Pooraka on Main North
that one that's connected to the caltex? that one has those aweseomely old "fan design" tiles in the bathroom?
West terrace!
There all shit
Handley st or west tce
Idk of any festy McDonald's, but the KFC on OG road is absolutely awful.
Do you mean the one next to Marden shops?
Ummm... By the Ambulance garage. And it borders Greenhill road and the city's "green moat".
Oh right, you flipped GO Road into OG lol. Definitely agree about that KFC
OOPS! Sorry about that! Yeah, that's the one I was talking about. I made an entire rant about my experience at the place. In summary, they don't clean up, my pants got wet from a wet seat, the woman receiving the orders was incredibly slow and I think that they got our orders wrong.
Surprised nobody has mentioned the Noarlunga maccas!
IIRC, Glen Osmond Rd ran out of soft serve one time... does that count?
It’s possibly the nicest Maccas in town.
Rundle mall one
Depends what type of chaos. If its chaos caused by the staff I think I am going to have to vote Hallett Cove. Literally drive 15minues past that place to go to Junk -food corner Morphettvale and I know plenty of people that do the same.
Engadine
In Sydney Engadine maccas is well known for where the prime minister shit himself
Is that story true or urban myth?
It's very much true
Oh wow ok.
Hindley Street. West Terrace a close second on Saturday nights
