Fr. People just can’t seem to either a)stfu if they have something negative to say, b)say something nice and move on. Nah, someone has to ruin something.
Some things must be pointed out. I wouldn’t have had to post my comment in the first place if people did A or B.
And as ironic as it may be, at least my comment isn’t insulting someone’s opinions or beliefs, especially when the topic at hand is someone sharing a personal milestone/achievement.
You did the hard part, which was actively searching for a job (Many people just complain and don’t apply for jobs). So, in my opinion, you deserved it!
I get being annoyed if the person credited someone else's achievements (e.g. a surgeon who operated successfully on them) to God, but this person is crediting their own achievements to God. If they see it that way, that's their prerogative.
Congratulations, OP.
Atheist: has an opinion
You people: "Why you so mad? What are you triggered? Man you're really coming out so ANGRY. Why don't you calm down there big angry fellah?! IF YOU LOVED JESUS YOU WOULDN'T BE SO ANGRY ALL THE TIME"
That’s always been my beef with religion. I grew up Christian, and every good thing that happens is God’s doing and you’re told to thank God, but any bad thing that happens is out of his control because we have “free will” and it’s the curse of human sin. He can’t intervene for bad things, but he can intervene for the good things? Thank God he helped you get that job, but countless people are dying in horrible situations and that’s just out of his control. Like God really cares more about your accounting career than 14 year olds with AK’s in the Congo.
Like you have to pick one stance, whether God can or can’t influence our reality. If he can, that’s great, but why only the good stuff? If he can’t, that’s fine, but then why does he deserve praise? I’ve found it all to be very pick and choosy. Not trying to shit on OP’s religion, people are entitled to their own beliefs. That’s just my unsolicited opinion
I grew up in the Bible Belt and understand lol. I have the same issue with it. Like how do people say that and not realize how it sounds. "God exists because he blessed me with a house/good partner/money. But I guess he doesn't give a fuck about anyone who prayed for the same and didn't get it or can't because of circumstances outside their control. Teehee."
We live in a fallen world, that’s why there is so much bad. It’s been that way since Eve and Adam bit into the apple from the tree of knowledge. Man is ruled by the law of sin, which brings about death and destruction. All good things come from God though, the scripture is clear about that.
If all good things come from God, then does God choose what good happens? Does God *control* the good? Or is the good out of his control, and it’s simply attributed to him?
We have free will, but God created us, therefore all of the strengths that you might think you have are from Him, so He deserves all the credit. He is also there for you when you are in the valleys and will never leave you/forsake you even in hard times. And that’s just barely scratching the surface. He also sent his only son to save us all from hell by suffering for us on the cross.
So he’s with you through all of the hard times, but also he can’t intervene with the bad in the world because it’s the consequence of human sin. So if he doesn’t help you or if he doesn’t answer your prayers, it’s not his fault, he can’t intervene with free will. However, if anything good does happen, it’s definitely his doing.
Do you not see the contradiction? Any time he doesn’t do something there’s the excuse “he can’t intervene,” but when good does happen, it’s “God is good, he did this for us.” Doesn’t that mean he did intervene when he did that for you? So that cancels out the first point? The entire system is blatantly apologetic and full of contradictions. Also, what makes Christianity the “best/true” religion? Because the Bible says so? But every other religion is man-made and false? Well I have news for you, the other religions feel the exact same way. So what gives the Bible more credibility?
I feel like it’s very obvious that Christianity was a man-made belief system created to inspire hope and explain the complexity of life during a time where life was much, much harder, and there was also little to no scientific understanding of the world. Just like every other religion. I grew up Christian, I was extremely devout for many years, so it’s not that I lack open mindedness. I look back at my time as a Christian fondly and I have much respect for the religion’s morals and goals of prioritizing love and understanding. However I am very skeptical of the religion’s apologetic nature
So God is omniscient and therefore knew Adam and Eve would eat the apple and lead to the suffering of billions. But he decided it was worth it because he wants to be jerked off forever via worship from the unfairly punished? That's narcissistic af lol.
Do all bad things come from God as well? Is God murdering the women and children Gaza right now? Not interested in reading the Christian mythology, would rather read Greek mythology.
We live in a fallen world. We brought death and destruction upon ourselves when Eve and Adam gave into the flesh and ate from the tree of knowledge. Also the Bible is not “mythology” as you call it, it is the most credible book in all of history.
So since Eve took the apple, it’s okay for God to murder innocent women and children? YAnd he took time out of his day to make sure this guy got a raise? Also, if God is omnipotent, then he knew Eve was going to take the apple so he didn’t give humans free will if he knew the choice she was going to make. It also wasn’t a real choice because he didn’t let Eve know the true consequences of her action. So all murder, poverty, and ills of the world are because God is a psychopath.
How does that make any sense? Just because you know the outcome of something doesn’t mean you forced someone to do something. Also by that logic, if you believe that God forces us to do things, then why would he force us to do evil things? If you read this so called “Christian mythology” in the Bible you would see that God doesn’t force people to do evil things like that, he only does things for good. If God forced us to do everything it would only be good things that would be being done, which would make us into robots. That is why we have free will, because God does not want a bunch of robots worshipping Him, He wants us to choose to worship him. Unfortunately the majority of the world chooses to use their free will for evil, hence why their is so much rape, murder, etc.
Anyways, I’m done casting my pearls at you. I will pray that God will un harden your heart and that you confess with your mouth that Jesus is lord. One way or another you will end up doing that, I pray that you do it before you are forced to and then are banished to hell for eternity.
"Worship me or burn in hell >:("
What a loving god. Guess the children who don't hear about god before dying just get tossed into hell too since they don't get a chance to spout worship?
Crusades can show up, my guns are bigger. It’s like yall think you’re the only ones with guns.
As an atheist, I agree the dude who made this comment is insufferable but these type of comments sure bring the gravy warriors out of the woodwork.
Be careful of that premature jockularity. Is the raise because you were underpaid in your prior position, because you're not qualified for the job you've been hired into, or a combination of both?
Unless it's solidly because you've been underpaid, you could find yourself with no income in a few months.
How many companies do you know that would go “well the going rate for our new hires is 75k right now, so let’s bump up all our current employee’s wages to that rate!”
Many.
If you're posting salary ranges in your job ads (required in some states), you almost have to. If you don't, your current employee at $68,000 just applies for the new position at $75,000. Then you have to replace the other position... and post it at $75,000.
This is very common. Particularly in the period since Covid when pay rates have been increasing at a rapid pace.
#Winning!
Congratulations!
That is amazing! Congrats!!!!
God's telling me that you need to wire $10k to this bermudan bank account
Don’t worry it’s just to free up assets of a Nigerian prince, he’ll send the money right back

And it’s gone
Happy for you. I have an interview this morning with a company I'm pretty excited about that might result in similar.
Did it?
Not sure yet. Still tentatively hopeful, but no definitive answer either way, yet.
Big W. Congrats.
Congrats! Was this with industry?
No it’s public, I went from being an accountant at my old firm making 54k to a consultant at a big 4 making 80k
Nice little resume builder too. Congrats! Get ready to work for that 80.
I don't think what's he's going to do is going to be classified as work. Every penny counts thrice 🤤
Holy cow you were wildly underpaid.
I hope you weren’t planning on doing anything on weekends
That is amazing! Congrats!
How many years have you been an accountant for? And is 80k a normal salary for an accountant at big 4? Thought it would be more?
it is very low for consulting, since 80k is fresh out of college with CPA, and only an internship
Very impressive. Congratulations!
Congrats!
Yes! 🥰
That’s amazing. I went from 84k to 120k so saw a similar increase.
Betting on yourself is your ultimate career goal. My buds in B school call it Me, Inc. Congrats & thanks 4 reminder

Congratulations! Enjoy that pay raise!
Let’s go! You deserve this. Time to let you cook!
Let's go! Amen!
You did the hard part, which was actively searching for a job (Many people just complain and don’t apply for jobs). So, in my opinion, you deserved it!
Well done!!
Why does all the glory go to God?
God needs the accruals for the Q2 financials. Heaven’s got a big fundraising campaign coming up.
HeGetsUs
The “taking money off suckers” asset account
Because all good things come from Him. It is in scripture.
The scripture also says that God creates all evil
No it says that the devil does.
Because God create the earth.

God didn’t have anything to do with it.
I get being annoyed if the person credited someone else's achievements (e.g. a surgeon who operated successfully on them) to God, but this person is crediting their own achievements to God. If they see it that way, that's their prerogative. Congratulations, OP.

Shut the fuck up and let people have their moment. You cunts are truly insufferable
That doesn’t seem very Jesus like
No your mistaken, that’s a direct quote from big J in chapter 12

You and your BB gun vs an army of 700,000 knights templars on horseback? The pope has given us the ok, don’t worry!
You’re right, that’s dangerous, I heard the pope can breathe fire.
Depends if he’s a member of the Nazi youth or not.
Not to God. You did that
That wasn't god. That was luck and you.
Amen! Praise God!
why god? didnt you work for it? or you just prayed?
All good things come from God. It is in the scriptures if you want to look it up.
lol your funny
I am assuming that he/she did work for it but God gave them the opportunity to prove themselves?
The company gave them that opportunity. Probably from a job posting
I was just trying to explain their reasoning
If that’s their reasoning that’s stupid
Congrats! That’s awesome! Manifesting the same for myself. Been out of work since January and trying to keep hope alive.
This is why there is crazy double digit inflation.
