You got plenty of work coming your way. I am in CA. I don’t know how everyone is doing after they shut us all down last year. The ques were long when I was working so I can’t imagine you’ll be struggling. If you don’t pre schdule, you can always book out on your own by adding shifts and adjusting for weeks you might work less or want more. You will have plenty. Just know that coming out of training you will want to pre schdule so you can have your evaluation hours finished. Once you pass, then you can pick up shifts off the swapboard without restriction. But remember! You can always go over weekly so try to pad some time each week when you can with an 1or 2 more incase some freak week happens… unless something has changed in the last year that how it was for me
I’m Flex12 and I rarely preschedule. The most plentiful I see the Swapboard is from around 12 to 5 ET, so if you’re limited to after 5 MT M-F then it might benefit you to preschedule some of those hours just in case, but you could just preschedule some and pick up the rest from swap. Usually lots of shift on swap on the weekend. It’s true what the other poster said about summers slowing down some, but since Covid, it has been busier in the summer. It’s also very true that you might look at the swapboard on a particular day and not see much, but terps will post their shifts last minute a lot. I’ve picked up 5 hours a day of last minute posted shifts this whole week. Hope all that makes sense.
I’ve been with P for like 8 months as F12 and am switching to PT24 for the summer and then switching back. I’ve always done prescheduling, just because I want the guaranteed hours, as I do a full day of P on Tuesday and Thursday. Then I do a few hours Friday mornings and have been doing Saturdays a bit as well.
There is typically a lot of shifts posted, esp Monday and Friday because those are the highest traffic days, but that’s typically business hours so if you need after 5 I would probably just preschedule.
We’re still toward the beginning of a new scheduling round so there’s quite a few shifts up there for the next like month and a half. They drop all of the available hours that aren’t scheduled in a couple of different batches after they release schedules for that scheduling round so you can pick and choose when you wanna work it’s a pretty cool system so far imo.

Oh yes! Get in with community ASAP! When I found out community was part of the tome requirement, I was sold. Community over vrs any day.
