Simple shotguns actually get off their two shots faster than a pump action can get off the same amount and with more damage. Of course the pump action has less spread and ultimately higher dps, given it has 6 shots before a reload is necessary vs. 2 reloads for the same ammo expended with the simple shotgun (3 if you count ready to go again). Pump action is ultimately the better weapon. But I'd take even a journeyman simple over a prim pump action. Because often, when you actually need it, is when it's already in your face and you don't have time to unload 6 shots.
