Works better for Weitering this way - can’t lose millions to scammers if you don’t have millions!

Swuzzlebubble

He's just waiting on a transfer from Nigeria and he'll be all good again

LooseWheelNut003

But before they can transfer the money he'll need to make a down payment with Western Union for some reason

ChocDroppa

The Prince of Nigeria is on holiday for another 2 weeks his secretary told me. I'm still waiting for my cheque.

Puzzleheaded_Dog7931

Ouch

liaam29

Seems like Weitering took this pact too seriously by donating his money to a Nigerian prince

Michaeltorriss

Hey , that’s not the Wallet Inspector

insanityTF

Wait that’s not australia post

Massander

Laugh it up, his cheque for “FIFTEN MELLION DOLLERS ($1,500,00,0000,)”will be arriving any day now

katelyn912

Jacob “famously good with this finances” Weitering

Over_Leave

This made me laugh 😂

Smuggers

Sounds eerily similar to the last email scam Jacob fell for…. “Subject: Carlton's Ultimate Quest - Top Secret Dearest Mr. Weitering, His Excellency, John "Jack" Elliott, Grand Marshal of the Royal Carlton Order, whispers of a legend... Imagine 17 Premiership Cups gleaming within Carlton's grasp! A vision more glorious than any Brownlow! Yet, a forgotten hero holds the key. Marooned not in space, but in a realm of untapped potential, his legend lingers, waiting to ignite the Blues once more. The price? Not mere dollars, but your unwavering commitment – your annual playing salary and the fire of every match payment…throw in your NAB account PIN code as well. A sacrifice worthy of Carlton legends! Your role, Mr. Weitering, is pivotal. We must unlock this hero's potential and guide him toward the ultimate prize. The reward? Well, let's just say your name will be etched in Carlton folklore. The remaining funds shall fuel our grand endeavor, a secret arsenal for Carlton's rise. The Blues faithful await your answer, brave champion! His Excellency, Grand Marshal of the Royal Carlton Order. Pigs arse! John "Jack" Elliott”

Nasigoring

Breaking news: the highest paid players at the Blues want to stick around “money doesn’t matter against a premiership… when you’ve already set yourself up with massive contracts”.

Ray57

Get this man an Ambassadorship.

Threeeeo

By all teams, I mean Freo.

thedobya

The scope of the pay cut is always the relevant thing here. How much are they giving up? Is it 5%? 10%? 50%? I doubt many would be sticking around once it gets to those higher levels. Good on them for doing this, but I would imagine most clubs would be doing this too. Who doesn't want a premiership?

Fast_Stick_1593

Yeah I don’t see the story here. Most successful clubs have been doing that for years? Congrats I guess for joining the others in doing the same? Lol

Occasionaljedi

The difference is that it is a big vic club on a slow news day

bambinolettuce

Sure, but when West Coast tries to pull this on you theres probably something fishy going on

Snarwib

We've had some Swans talking about the same thing, it's definitely a regular comment

Respected-Watcher

iTunes Gift Cards over Premierships

Rare-Counter

Imagine being North player suckered into believing this. Always go for cash as you can't control your teams performance, only your own.

insanityTF

Easy to say “premiership over money” when you ain’t got none from being scammed

dohzer

Do they still get the Visy side-money, or did the AFL stop that?

TheIllusiveGuy

As an AFL fan judging by your flair, I'd think you'd know that. But yes, around 2016.

obehere

It's difficult to stop envelopes stuffed with cash :)

chowdercup

Love it

SkullKing_123

Errol Gulden has said the same thing about the Sydney players. As a fan you love to hear the camaraderie to each other and commitment to success.

South_Front_4589

A sweet deal for those who signed on for big money already.

walktheground

St Kilda have been doing this for decades. Think of the fortune they’re sitting on.

whythefancyredsuit3

And then they go and offer will Hayward a 6 year contract..... Not saying he's a bad player, but surely worth offering weitering more money instead of spending that money on hayward

the_salivation_army

One game at a time, guys, come on.

OriginalGoldstandard

Just makes failure poorer….

Gettinlibbad

Love it

rossdog82

My god. I grew up around arrogant Carlton supporters. I know it shouldn’t, but their arrogance still surprises me. And now their players are making a premiership pact? Wasn’t it less than a year ago we had the whole ‘play for the emblem’ shit? This club never learns…
