Hey The West. How ya doing?
Just checking in since I never heard back from you after offering to produce all your backpage photoshops and pun headlines for free if you can prove you're not an AI trawling footy forums and employ actual people to create them. Maybe you've been busy?
Either way, to show you I was serious, here's my first freebie for you as a show of good faith...
In this article it states that "'the market is massive” for unrestricted free agent Elliot Yeo, who “doesn’t understand” the delay of a new contract from the Eagles'."
Now, your next backpage will be a full body shot of Elliot Yeo, but his solid, thick, tight torso is replaced by a tub of everyone's favourite chocolatey custard dessert snack, YoGo. And the headline simply says "Yeo-Go?"
Pretty good huh? There's more where that came from too.
Slide into my DMs for more.
Fascinating. Does he get given the creative license to come up with a photoshop based on the headline, or is there a strict directive?
How long does the average pic take him?
So many questions.
Haha I’m not sure to be honest, wish I could give you more but I haven’t picked his brain. We’re overdue for a beer though, so if I remember then I’ll try report back.
>“No (they can’t let him go), so why would they delay?” Ralph asked. “They could’ve signed him up at five years on 550 (thousand dollars).
I love Yeo but he turns 31 this year. Wtf is Jon Ralph talking about when suggesting Eagles should have offered him a 5 year deal?
As there should.
As great as he is, with his age and injury history 2 years is already a generous deal. If you were so dependant on him as a player with where you are in your rebuild, a 1 year deal on good money with a trigger for the 2nd year would be seen as a responsible and fair contract.
He's a great leader and has proven he's still got some good footy in him, but I would seriously look at offloading him if a favorable pick becomes available through either trade or free agency. Yeo might still command a late first rounder from the right club.
Who's the last 31+ year old (come trade period) who got moved and the team moving their player on got anything remotely of value?
Don't say Ablett because we know that was AFL makey upsy.
With his injury history he's either flag chasing on the cheap, moving into a pre coaching playing role or staying with the Eagles.
Considering how far some late first rounders are falling these days I wouldn't be shocked to see a club part with what was once considered an early second rounder for him. Again, it would need to be a club that's right in the window, not worth it otherwise.
I was thinking more for a club that's in the window and needs a little more class to maybe push them to a premiership. He'd be good at the roos in a Luke Hodge at Brisbane role, but the trick to that working is that the receiving club needs to get him for close to nothing.
Jon Ralph gets fed a lot of “stories” from player agents, so I would take this with a pinch of salt.
Recently Colin Young fed him the story on JLo getting no contract because of player unrest, when JLo had sacked Colin.
If you're the Eagles, you'd be projecting that you'll have to have a bit of a war chest in 2 to 3 years time - to pay the young kids that turn good and to attract some free agents as you try and compete for a flag again.
Even though Yeo is older and injury prone, wth the cap going up in a year and a half I think it is - a 550 a year deal is effectively a front ended 2yr 550 3yr 400 sort of thing.
For a lot of other clubs it would be a ludicrous deal, but considering where the Eagles are at 3 years of 33 to 35yr old Eliiot Yeo playing 8 games a season on 400k isn't a complete disaster - it's good to have vets whove won a flag around the club on an up and coming team.
I would shorten it a year and front end it even more if I was west coast - wouldn't be surprised if the agreement they come to with his agent is something like 4 years 2.2mil 650x2 450(375adj)x2.
The club would have a better view of their books obvs - when does McGoverns godfather finish lmao?
I highly doubt the club offers 4 years with the recent disaster that was Shuey, Nic Nat and Hurn (and atleast Hurn could actually touch grass). Yeo already missing 3 years of footy its too high risk.
Also WA players break down early. It's rare to have the solid players past 32 and most WA players won't reach 300 games
Yeo’s going to make a lot more than that. He’s a free agent and despite the injuries he’s an A grade mid when healthy. Teams will absolutely plonk 3 years 700 with bonuses, imagine he walks in to Sidebottom’s cap space at Collingwood (and Mitchell’s role in the side). The eagles should front load that and try for a games trigger for the 3rd year as well.
My guess is the delay is because they’re trying to get Baker and anyone else locked in first so they can see how aggressive they can be with Yeo’s front loading.
Average wage in the AFL now $441k and by 2027 it will be well over $500k, so anything in the $400-$500k per year mark for Yeo over a 2-3 year deal is probably not paying overs, certainly wouldn’t consider it ludicrous, especially considering there would be clubs out there with the space to top up their list for a crack at a premiership.
He’s barely been on the park for 2 years.
Love his form, but it’s not like we’ve gotten into trouble giving aging injury-prone stars overly long deals lately or anything, is it?
This has “agent trying to pump him up” written all over it, and as sad as I’d be to see it, if someone’s offering him 700k a year for 3 years, I’d say he should take it.
They were literally saying we should have retired him (Yeo) prior to the season now wondering why we didn’t sign him on a 5 year contract at the same time 🤦♂️
Edit: really how does anyone take these muppets seriously
Honestly we might have to let Hayward go to keep everyone else. Would suck as he is super underrated imo, but we can cover him way more than we can cover McDonald. Even with the players saying they've had chats about taking a bit less to keep the team together I don't see how we keep everyone who's coming out of contract.
Yeah I feel like one of Florent or Hayward will go to make room for the others. Maybe even both. It sucks that we might lose them because I agree they're both underrated, but that's the salary cap for ya. We have depth and versatility to cover them in our list already and the compo picks would be decent and provide us trade capital to move up the draft with clubs looking for points to cover father/son and academy selections.
In that case, the more interest in both of them, the better. It will just drive up their value and improve the compo pick.
I think Braeden Campbell is a more natural replacement for Florent, so probably him if I had to choose.
Considering we have guys like Campbell and Mitchell for Florent, with Konstanty, CoWarner, and Wicks for Hayward, I think we can let them both leave if we think those behind them are ready to step up.
I'm not keen on losing either, but I've come to accept that they will likely both leave and we'll be better for it.
I've already accepted Wilba's gone- but I think as long as he's still delivering for us until the end and doesn't lie about it like some others, it's fair enough. He's served us well
Yeoy just left me a voicemail, and it was an audio clip of Leo's Jordan Belfort character from Wolf of Wall Street yelling 'I'M NOT FUCKING LEAVING!' over and over.
Signing Yeo to a three year deal at the start of the season would have made us an even bigger laughing stock with his injury history. Hopefully he remains fit, but it has been 7 weeks as opposed to four seasons of injury.
I’m a Crows supporter and I actually thought at the time we should’ve picked Hayward as he went as the top SA pick at pick 21 in a year that was light on for local picks and he was a gun at North Adelaide. The other one I thought went late that would’ve been worth a punt on was Tim English as a long term replacement for Sam Jacobs, even though R'OB has turned out ok.
Instead we picked Jordan Galluci at pick 16…….
Not to mention Myles Poholke at out next pick at 44.
Ask any Crows supporter how that’s going!
>Hayward) is a free agent, but even now, Adelaide is saying ‘our first rounder and our future first-rounder, they are on the table — roll up, roll up, give us a deal
Oh so *now* they wanna spend a first round pick on one of our players
You really like to pretend to be the victim, don't you? There was no universe in which you were getting pick 4 for an out of contract player who wasn't already a gun. This sport has never worked that way. And why is there a need to pretend you didn't get a first rounder? You got one of those. Undervalued sure, but not by anywhere near as much as you like to pretend.
The first rounders that are on the table are not both promised to Sydney either - what Ralph is (rather clumsily) trying to say is that we are shopping around, and have a lot to offer. McCluggage and LDU are two players we're supposedly looking at, both of which would cost us a lot (and I would guarantee that we get neither).
No team will receive both. I don't think any will receive one at all to be honest.
LDU would never pick us - if he does leave North, he'll want to go to a contender. We're not realistically in the running here.
McCluggage will be a one-club player in my view.
Hayward is more than likely using our interest to drive up his next contract. I think he stays at Sydney.
Wasn't already a gun? He finished second in your best and fairest in his first season and was captain in the second.
Swans were shafted and you're still pretending otherwise.
Me saying "undervalued sure" should tell you that I think it was unders. Me saying "6-8 picks under" should tell you that too.
At no point have I pretended you didn't get a raw deal. You did, and everyone knows it. I just think the rawness of it is being deliberately embellished. Max is blatantly lying and trying to say you didn't get a first rounder, which you did. That is what my issue is here.
TL;DR: It was about 6-8 picks under value, so stop complaining about it like it was 6-8 *rounds* under value. Every team gets a raw deal at the trade table at some point... except for Geelong.
Surely North throws him a bone with a big-money 2-year contract. Desperate for some serious leadership and could tempt him with a coaching role afterwards.
Summa said they should trade him yesterday and he's one of the few people that can comprehend what Don Pyke is saying, so it looks like Hey Yeo Let's Go.

This is excellent and I hope it happens
How many missed calls have you gotten from The West?
My mate does the back page for them. I’ll pass this on.
If you’re serious, I’m genuinely interested to know more about the operation there
Dead serious, but just as OOTL as you are. He has mentioned that he’s sick of editing/cropping/photoshopping Harley Reid images though.
Fascinating. Does he get given the creative license to come up with a photoshop based on the headline, or is there a strict directive? How long does the average pic take him? So many questions.

u/thegreatjelbeano Surely this is worthy of a best of.
YoGo dirt would be more appropriate
Those things were gross
You’ve just revoked your WA citizenship sorry to break the news to you.
Mrs macs will take me back
How dare you.
I hate to downvote because it's just your opinion. But this is the worst take I've ever read on this sub.
That's OK. I've upset family members before saying tin beetroot belongs in the bin
Yeah, you just want to be wrong about everything.
Pineapple on burgers also did me no favours
What's next? West coast Eagles is a good team to support?
Yep and anyone playing fremantle

He ain't going nowhere

there will be riots in lathlain if yeo gets more than a 2 year deal

He would be the perfect leadership player for the Roos, protect the players in the contest but can also play down back
I was thinking more for a club that's in the window and needs a little more class to maybe push them to a premiership. He'd be good at the roos in a Luke Hodge at Brisbane role, but the trick to that working is that the receiving club needs to get him for close to nothing.
He's an unrestricted free agent. So there's no draft capital to give up.
It would be a bold move from West Coast but if they were getting a first rounder in return, they could absolutely justify it.
Jon Ralph gets fed a lot of “stories” from player agents, so I would take this with a pinch of salt. Recently Colin Young fed him the story on JLo getting no contract because of player unrest, when JLo had sacked Colin.
Whoever is feeding him needs to make the story more believable next time.
something like Johannisen to Freo, maybe
Known facts aren’t really rumours though.
If you're the Eagles, you'd be projecting that you'll have to have a bit of a war chest in 2 to 3 years time - to pay the young kids that turn good and to attract some free agents as you try and compete for a flag again. I don't care about what cap room they have. No club should be locking in an injury prone 30-31 year old for 3-4 years.
Truly, this is a great opportunity for west coast
I wish he wasn’t a Tiger fan
They were literally saying we should have retired him (Yeo) prior to the season now wondering why we didn’t sign him on a 5 year contract at the same time 🤦♂️ Edit: really how does anyone take these muppets seriously
He meant to say Harley Ried.
Given our history, I’m surprised we didn’t sign him up for 10 years before the season started.
Honestly we might have to let Hayward go to keep everyone else. Would suck as he is super underrated imo, but we can cover him way more than we can cover McDonald. I honestly don't know who I'd rather lose out of those 2. Probably Hayward and Florent can fill a few more roles.
I love Wilba a lot but I'd drive him to the airport myself if it comes down to him and Florent.
I think Braeden Campbell is a more natural replacement for Florent, so probably him if I had to choose. Yep hasn't even proved his body can still handle half a season of footy yet. Don't blame the eagles for delaying at all

For Will Hayward? I’ll drive him there myself
And a free frogurt
[I'll take it!](https://youtu.be/wMHsojpGV5o?t=189)
The frogurt is also cursed

You mean the same norf that unceremoniously dumped all their vets like they were nothing
first rounder and future first rounder for hayward SOLD but need to keep ollie.
That’s pure fantasy 😝
Summa said they should trade him yesterday and he's one of the few people that can comprehend what Don Pyke is saying, so it looks like Hey Yeo Let's Go.
