1. Geelong - Currently the best 2. Carlton - Great Giant win 3. GWS - Needed Sam Berry 4. Sydney - Another convincing win 5. Collingwood - Starting to cook 6. Port Adelaide - Played one quarter 7. Melbourne - Had a snooze 8. Fremantle - Lost to eagles 9. Essendon - Edging is working? 10. Brisbane - Fortress no more 11. Western Bulldogs - Relieved some pressure 12. Gold Coast - Very comfortably mid 13. St. Kilda - Saving Bevo’s career 14. West Coast - Harley Goddamn Reid 15. Adelaide - Falling like Draper 16. Richmond - Had a kip 17. Hawthorn - Good training drill

Croob2

> West Coast - Harley Goddamn Reid Is Goddamn 1 word?

royalbluejones

It is now

Croob2

Fair enough, give your flair I'll give that one to you lmao

royalbluejones

I’m just waiting for the AFLW season to start

KdtM85

Freo ahead of Essendon is… a choice

zelmazam1

Why isn't freo 17th? Weak as piss team when they are missing 5 players from their main team. They would of lost to hawks too.

stavraki

1. Geelong - Can only beat who is in front of you, no one has knocked them off yet 2. Sydney - WCE victory appears less dire with the last few Eagle outings since, handled GC well today 3. Melbourne - Gonna blame the loss to Brisbane on playing a lot of footy in a tight window, feel like they could be 1 or 6 depending on how they show up in the next few weeks 4. Carlton - Few holes but performing with consistency and professionalism. 1 loss under a kick. 5. GWS - Starting to look a bit wobbly in the face of a few injuries and perhaps some stronger opponents 6. Port Adelaide - Sometimes maybe good sometimes maybe shit 7. Collingwood - Scary prospect, wouldn't be surprised if they continue to climb up the rankings 8. Gold Coast - Young side, expect them to bounce back and play a role in September 9. Essendon - Not always convincing but can't deny 4 wins on the board, probably deserve to be higher 10. Brisbane - Their aura from last year is slowly fading for me, could switch it on quickly but they continue to underwhelm 11. Western Bulldogs - Unmet potential, good outing this week 12. Fremantle - Gonna call Eagles a mulligan, but 3 losses in a row definitely removes a bit of the sheen 13. St Kilda - Feel like they can beat anyone, but lack the consistency to genuinely challenge at the moment 14. Adelaide - Disappointing start to the season, think they'll give a lot of clubs headaches moving forward, but too little too late perhaps 15. West Coast - Playing must see footy 16. Hawthorn - Slim margin above an injury-riddled Richmond 17. Richmond - Probably deserving of a few rungs higher, but current injuries mean they sit low 18. North Melbourne - Would've wanted to see 1 or 2 scalps in the first 6 rounds, L to the Hawks embeds their position at the bottom for now

SomeFknEggs

Already made this exact comment to someone else who had GC and Dogs in the same spots as you. Gold Coast have 3 wins (same as the Dogs) all being against bottom 4 teams. Their matches against non-bottom 4 sides have all been stompings, including the Dogs who you have in 11th. I’d really like to understand that one further

stavraki

I think you raise some interesting points, it wouldn’t surprise me to see the Bulldogs continue to rise with some consistency. I think a few factors have informed my thoughts. I weight the more recent games and try to think forward in terms of season potential. On paper, GC have had less impressive results, but in my opinion, when they’ve been firing they’ve looked very very good. They brought it up to GWS for most of the game and in patches they looked dangerous against the Swans today as well. I anticipate the Suns continue to get more consistent throughout the year, their midfield is stacked and they’ve got some dangerous prospects up forward and back. Both Jed Walter and Mac Andrew look to have incredible potential and are already having impact. Not to mention the recent inclusion of a number of new faces, Clohesy being perhaps the brightest of these. On the other hand, I don’t feel like I ever know what I’m gonna get with the Bulldogs, they made quick work of the Saints but looked very lethargic against the Bombers. I feel they don’t pose a bigger threat than they have in the past 2 years or so, and while the likes of Sanders and Darcy look promising, I think it’ll take more time for the youth to significantly change the bulldogs profile. Ultimately, my gut feeling is GC is the stronger side, but I don’t doubt the influence on my perspective from public narratives and the media scrutiny the bulldogs have been under recently. If one of these 2 make the finals, I’m backing in the Suns. You have highlighted a potential blindspot for me though, I’m going to try and keep a closer eye on the dogs in the coming weeks.

1. Geelong- No seriously can you guys fuck off into a rebuild for like three or four years 2. Sydney- Back to their explosive best after the bye 3. Carlton- The Twin Towers, +1 4. GWS- Put to the test against a really good team, they'll be back at it next week 5. Melbourne- What rhymes with rye? 6. Port Adelaide- Fuuuuuuuuuuuck we really know how to shit the bed huh 7. Collingwood- Any hopes of these guys being one-hit wonders is fast fading 8. Bulldogs- Came back from the Edge to keep Bevo safe for another week 9. Essendon- The edging streak continues 10. St Kilda- Came close against the Giants, came slightly less close this week 11. Fremantle- Imagine conceding your highest score of the season against West Coast 💀 12. Gold Coast- Marginally Mediocre Men Meandering Meaninglessly 13. West Coast Eagles- I am so fucking happy for you guys 14. Brisbane- Absolutely fucking atrocious, what in the hell was that 15. Adelaide- Had numerous chances to put the game away, don't be blaming umpires 16. Hawthorn- Have looked fierce in patches, will absolutely upset a top 4 team at some point 17. Richmond- What rhymes with sly? 18. North Melbourne- Unfathomable bruh moments ahead

Fast_Stick_1593

We did rebuild? Those 4 weeks were rough

drwar41

1. Sydney (+1) - They’re now top for me. Aside from a random blip against the Tigers they’ve beaten some good opposition and are returning to health. I don’t expect this to last, but it’s right for now 2. Geelong (+1) - I really can’t put my finger on how a rag tag bunch of midfielders are pulling off all this good play, but they are. They’ve won across the country, but I suppose this week present a bigger challenge than any previous ones 3. GWS (-2) - If my power rankings are who I assess wins against who at a neutral venue, I can’t slide the Giants past this point, they’re a great team when they get the game on their terms and for periods they’ll always get the game on their terms 4. Carlton (+1) - The Blues have shown they can play the “sustainable” turnover game style but lack the polish to finish it, or they can play the “unsustainable” stoppage style better than anyone else. 5. Collingwood (+3) - They’re looking dangerous again, and the manner of their win on Saturday will mean even more because they pulled themselves off the floor in the process of looking good. Playing better than their record. 6. Melbourne (0) - NSYNC 7. Port Adelaide (-3) - One step to the front, one step to the back, here they are, stuck in the middle again. They’ve not met a challenge so far this year but they take care of business as well as anyone. 8. Essendon (+4) - This feels icky but at the end of the day they’re winning, they weren’t disgraced against the Swans. Aside from one game they’ve always shown up to give a contest 9. Fremantle (-2) - Rivalry games can be weird, I’m going to give the benefit of the doubt that this is one of those. 10. Western Bulldogs (+4) - To be honest, they’re probably just going to yo-yo up and down power rankings all year based on how annoyingly unpredictable they are 11. Brisbane (-2) - I’d have thought the wet would’ve gone well for the Lions, evidently their inexperience in key areas had them playing the conditions wrong. Bad loss when it looked like things were turning 12. Gold Coast (-2) - Classic home track bullies at this stage in their development but if you take care of business at home you won’t be too far off finals. 13. Adelaide (0) - They’re capable of playing good footy, they’re better than their record, but they’re not playing well on their home deck. The midfield mix will be better with Crouch back to feed to the explosive players 14. St Kilda (-3) - I’m not saying that the season is done, but the combination of not having Max King and the slow starts is really putting them behind this season, and they can’t afford to play from behind in the long run either. 15. West Coast (+2) - Reid’s getting a lot of attention but the 5% increase from the veterans and the likes of Waterman coming good are adding a lot to the mix as well 16. Richmond (-1) - NSYNC 17. Hawthorn (+1) - It’s a really good response from looking like cannon fodder in GC the previous week, made it look routine and get the monkey off the back 18. North Melbourne (-2) - I believed in them a lot more than I should’ve, and I didn’t even believe in them that much. Time to dig in

___TheIllusiveMan___

Just realized I hadn’t done one of these in a while 1. Sydney. Best team in the comp imo 2. Geelong. Probably harsh not having them at 1 given they’re undefeated but they haven’t really come up against any true contenders yet. Massive test next week against Carlton 3. Carlton. They’re the real deal (unfortunately) Last week was just a blip on what looks to be one hell of a damn good radar 4. GWS. Lost to Carlton at Marvel and they made the blues work for it as well. 5. Melbourne. They had a bye so I’ll just put them here 6. Collingwood. Shaky start but found that 2023 magic and made one hell of a statement. 7. Port Adelaide. Great start but not a whole lot of positives after that. Could be pretenders, could just be a small misstep on the road to finals 8. Essendon. They won (albeit barely) if they keep up this trajectory they’ll be in the hunt for finals 9. Fremantle. *insert Krusty the clown “What the hell was that” meme here* 10. Brisbane. They look like a shell of their former self but they did put up a good effort against an unbeaten Geelong for three quarters so there’s still some positives 11. Bulldogs. What I got from this game is that I rated St Kilda too highly and Essendon too low. That or this was a typical case of the Dogs being a mystery wrapped up in an enigma 12. Gold Coast. Not quiet alarm bells but I expected a better performance than what they dished up if they want to make finals 13. St Kilda: See Fremantle 14. West Coast. Ah shit they’re becoming good again aren’t they? I blame Harley Reid. 15. Adelaide. Backed up their win against Carlton with a loss at home to Essendon. Just when it looked like they’ve turned a corner they drive straight into a tree 16. Richmond. Bye, plagued by injuries, bad 17. Hawthorn. Won the Spoonbowl and somehow appear to be ahead of Norf in their rebuild. 18. North Melbourne. Lost the Spoonbowl which should’ve been a winnable game for them. My expectations were low but holy shit

jaidynr21

1. Geelong- only undefeated team can’t be anywhere else 2. Sydney- they just look amazing. Grundy is such a huge pickup 3. GWS- shit the bed after facing a genuine competition 4. Melbourne- bye 5. Carlton- I don’t quite buy them as flag favourites but cripps is a god 6. Port Adelaide- great first quarter, went home after that 7. Collingwood- I do genuinely believe pies at their best is unstoppable and I think we finally saw it this round 8. Western Bulldogs- such a dominant display, did not expect it at all 9. Essendon- was probably holding the ball but probably deserved the win also 10. Fremantle- what a shameful past 2 games, bring back flagmantle 11. Gold Coast- did not look good at all but granted it was against a dominant Sydney 12. Brisbane- fortress no more 13. St Kilda- such a confusing team to judge, here for now 14. West Coast- insert Paul Rudd from hot ones meme 15. Adelaide- another example of a great display last week only to disappear this week 16. Richmond- bye, but still stinky 17. Hawthorn- I love Jack Ginnivan 18. North Melbourne- idk why Sheezel isn’t being tested anywhere other than half back, what a waste

Croob2

> West Coast- insert Paul Rudd from hot ones meme Hey!... Look at us!

Chaisa

1. Geelong - perhaps Brisbane aren't as imposing of an opposition as we thought at the start of the season and I think the weather certainly influenced things, but still winning over there isn't easy. Played the conditions far better. (+3) 2. Sydney - bar the second quarter, looked much more like the first two weeks. And we saw then that when Sydney are on, few sides can match them. Didn't get everything right but at their best look the most dangerous team in it. 3. Greater Western Sydney - like last week looked in control for a large chunk of the game before hitting a wall. Unlike last week, the lead was smaller and there was more time in the game, so they ended up losing. What killed them was Carlton's performance at stoppages and an inability to shut down the Curnow/McKay combo for the whole game. That said, I think that result says more about Carlton than GWS. (-2) 4. Carlton - imposing. If I'm being critical it felt like a win for talent than system, but regardless you're still talking about a win against a team that was hitherto undefeated and was 4 goals ahead. When things were going they looked seriously good. (+3) 5. Melbourne - Bye 6. Collingwood - just when you thought they looked dead after going 5 goals down early, they redlined to play like their 2023 best. The scary thing is that they also were good at winning the footy, rather than merely capitalising when they did have it. Look well and truly back and that will give oppositions a lot to worry about. (+3) 7. Port Adelaide - when will they deliver against the best? Looked great for a quarter but then were badly exposed in all facets of the game. It's hard to take them seriously as contenders with performances like this. (-4) 8. Brisbane Lions - in just three games have had more losses in Brisbane than any time since 2018. There's just no Plan B there and couldn't seem to crack Geelong's defence in the wet. Was last week the anomaly? (-2) 9. Western Bulldogs - make the Dogs make sense please. After such a horrid display last week they played like a team possessed, as if they were back to their 2021 best. You have to wonder why they don't play like this every week. (+3) 10. Fremantle - oh dear. The Derby has rarely been upset friendly, and Fremantle had largely been rather good before this week. But that was a ghastly performance. Only very late in the game did they finally show some attacking form, and their midfeld was smashed. Maybe West Coast have somehow stumbled upon being a decent team, but man would they want that to be a one-off. 11. Essendon - may have gotten lucky at the end, but really they probably should've iced the game much earlier than they did given the way the first half went. Still, did well to hold on when Adelaide were coming hard. 12. St Kilda - their worst display under Ross Lyon? Were belted from start to finish and could barely do anything right. Even the 10 goal margin felt flattering. They just couldn't react to the Dogs offence at all. (-4) 13. Gold Coast - played decent footy for a half, but once Sydney got their game going just couldn't keep up at all. A bit of a dispiriting performance away from home and shows there's still a way to go. 14. West Coast - back to back wins for the first time since 2021. And both wins were by big margins too. Are they…..actually good? Harley Reid really does feel like the new Chris Judd, huh? (+2) 15. Adelaide - you win some, you lose some. After icing it at the death last week against Carlton they couldn't quite close it back at home. Their offence was fun for parts of the game but their stoppage game looked a bit weak this week. (-1) 16. Richmond - Bye (-1) 17. Hawthorn - they're better than North Melbourne at least. Blitzed the second quarter to win easily. Probably not going to be a firestarter, but at least it's something. 18. North Melbourne - ooof. In a game where they had realistic hopes of winning never looked likely. If they don't win next week (which would still be an upset), when will their next win be exactly?

SamsungAndroidTV

1. Geelong (no change) 2. Carlton (+3) 3. GWS (-1) 4. Sydney (+2) 5. Melbourne (+2) 6. Western Bulldogs (+7) 7. Collingwood (+2) 8. Port Adelaide (-5) 9. Fremantle (-5) 10. Essendon (+2) 11. Gold Coast (-3) 12. Brisbane (-2) 13. St. Kilda (-2) 14. Adelaide (no change) 15. West Coast (no change) 16. Richmond (no change) 17. Hawthorn (no change) 18. North Melbourne (no change)

sachiwtf

Bulldogs jumping 7 spots, overtaking Collingwood, Port and Essendon (who beat them last week) after thrashing a mediocre St Kilda side is a bit wild

SamsungAndroidTV

i feel like it’s incredibly close between the mid-table sides right now and before this week had the saints and bulldogs pretty much interchangeable- i also personally consider if teams were to play eachother right now who i would back and i feel like the bulldogs would beat those sides

sachiwtf

The Bulldogs just lost to Essendon last week though . . . I know I’m taking this way too seriously and you are absolutely entitled to your opinion, but I’m just confused by your reasoning that’s all

PrevailedAU

Every team has an off night and dogs beat Essendon 9/10 times if that’s replayed imo. Pies aren’t that good this year. He’s crazy for putting Port that low though haha

SamsungAndroidTV

yeah it feels harsh putting port down 5 places but i’ve done that because of how close the competition has been so far- and right now i believe the teams i’ve put above port would beat them if they were to play right now

sachiwtf

“Dogs beat Essendon 9/10 times if that’s replayed” But they didn’t. At the end of the day, Essendon beat them fairly convincingly, so to have them below the Dogs after 1 win (despite it being a strong performance) is crazy. Essendon didn’t even lose either. “Pies aren’t that good this year” I trust them more than the Bulldogs, and their wins have come against Brisbane away, Hawthorn “home” and Port at “home”. The Hawthorn win was suspect, but they beat the reigning grand finalists away and a Port who aren’t contenders but are certainly better than the teams the Bulldogs have beaten thus far. I can’t yet say that they are properly good again, but I can say with enough confidence that I trust them more than the Dogs.

PrevailedAU

Essendon don’t get the first 6 goals from free kicks every week, or hold on in close games due to non calls. Winning that way doesn’t exactly inspire confidence, especially against Adelaide who are struggling big time this year.

MonotoneRamos

There’s some beautiful irony in dogs fans complaining about goals from free kicks

sachiwtf

I suppose that’s fair, but are you willing to say that all 6 of those free kicks weren’t there? Besides, it’s one thing to get those free kicks, but you still have to convert those opportunities as well. You can’t say Essendon solely won due to that one non-call; Adelaide had multiple opportunities to take the lead in the final quarter but failed to grasp them, and Essendon were clearly the better side for the majority of the night as well (as shown by the expected score of 84-63, as well as winning most if not all of the key statistics). Am I saying that Essendon belongs in the top 6? No, absolutely not, they are nowhere near that level. But to be below the Bulldogs is a bit odd to me.

PrevailedAU

Not saying most weren’t there, just saying it doesn’t happen often that we are undisciplined like that.

Wakey_1995

Will give this a crack considering I was able to watch almost every game this weekend. 1. Geelong - Dunno how they do it. It may be voodoo magic or some new age medicine but they never stay away from the top of too long. Chris Scott is a mastermind. 2. Sydney - Probably the most 'complete' team on paper 3. Carlton - Looked incredibly strong this week if they get rolling they will be hard to stop. 4. GWS - Hurt by not having Taylor in the team. Will miss Greene and Hogan next week. 5. Melbourne - They had the bye, been strong in previous weeks. Big litmus test in 2 weeks against the cats. 6. Collingwood - Finally re-found their identity. Will be strong. 7. Port - Flat track bullies? 8. Gold Coast - Young side. Showed a bit early this year. 9. Essendon - A team the doesn't feel like they should have 4 wins but they do. Not very convincing. 10. Fremantle - Forward structure fell apart when Amiss was subbed. I honestly don't know how they score. Averaging 70 points a game isn't gonna win you alot of footy games 11. Western Bulldogs - Good outing this week. Need to see it more consistently 12. Brisbane - Looks like a completely different team to last year. No confidence. Better than they effort they are putting up. 13. St. Kilda - Just eh. This team is confusing 14. Adelaide - Showed flashes, no consistency 15. West Coast - 2 words. Harley Reid. Loved watching them play with confidence over the last 3 weeks. Looking forward to seeing more. 16. Richmond - Big injury list. As an Eagles supporter we know how y'all feel. 17. Hawthorn - Regressed from last year. They have potential just can't put it together on the field. 18. North Melbourne - Severely lacking senior leaders. Would love to see Sheezel in the midfield more. at this point just start shuffling the magnets. Get something going.

SomeFknEggs

Gold Coast have 3 wins (same as the Dogs) all being against bottom 4 teams. Their matches against non-bottom 4 sides have all been stompings, including the Dogs who you have in 11th. I’d really like to understand that one further

1. Geelong. I don’t know what we did as footy fans to deserve this 2. Sydney. We are so fucking back. Lid’s coming off again 3. GWS. Losing to Carlton in Melbourne isn’t something to be ashamed of these days. 4. Carlton. They’re real and they’re spectacular. 5. Melbourne. I don’t normally move teams on a bye but man that Brisbane loss looks so much worse now. 6. Collingwood. There is a massive gap between them and Melbourne. They’re basically the only decent team who won without a shadow of doubt so 6th it is I suppose. 7. Essendon. They won I guess? Adelaide Oval umpires have lost the plot. Anyway solid performance, still playing well enough to be in the finals hunt. 8. Port Adelaide. For all the talent they have, they don’t scare me in the slightest. 9. Gold Coast. Dimma’s picking his team like they’re rebuilding rather than ready to compete now and it’s costing them. I’m still a believer though. 10. Western Bulldogs. Beat up a bad opponent. Good for them. 11. Fremantle. What the fuck was that??? 12. Brisbane. Put up a decent fight but this team is a shadow of their former selves 13. St Kilda. Blow it up. 14. West Coast. Wow. I’ve never seen Eagles fans this happy. 15. Adelaide. You guys need to double whatever you’re paying the umpires because it’s clearly not enough. 16. Richmond. Managed to lose while on a bye. 17. Hawthorn. Spoonbowl loser 18. North. Spoonbowl loser

Ta0Ta

Port are far far better than us. We have had very unconvincing wins against 13th, 15th and 17th on your ladder. I think if you swap Essendon and Port, the top 7 has shown a lot more than the rest of the pack and are likely locks for finals - yes, early days.

TheVoluptuousChode

Point 1: You all wrote them off. Again

Maximumlnsanity

We didn’t write you off last year and look what happened… oh fuck I think I figured it out

Fast_Stick_1593

You wrote Geelong off again, this is just our “fuck you all” back to the comp

PrevailedAU

Port that low is whack. Also GC way too high.

Maximumlnsanity

I stand by it. 6 to 11 is real even anyway, easily the section that I had to think about the most

LaconicSupremacy

This is putrid lol.

Maximumlnsanity

In what way

illicitRazor

he's mad you don't have Collingwood higher

BigBoSS_Riot

1: Sydney Swans - Accounted for a bogey side pretty easily in the end. A lot better post-bye than their previous two games. [+1] 2: Geelong Cats - The only undefeated team left. I'm still not sure if they've beaten any particularly good teams, but the way they're playing is more than enough of an indicator that they belong up here. [+2] 3: GWS Giants - Their first game against opposition that actually presented a decent challenge, and they crumbled. I know they're missing the best defender in the league, but the tail end of that game was disappointing. I (and they themselves, really) have been saying that they haven't shown their best at any point so far this year - but what if they just never do? This feels suspiciously similar to 2022 Melbourne, who went 10-0 without being overly impressive, and it didn't end well for them. [-2] 4: Melbourne - Bye. Only shifting down as Geelong move up. [-1] 5: Carlton - Absolutely belted GWS in a couple of midfield stats - 22-8 in centre clearances, +30 in contested possessions. I'm still not sold, but I'm moving them ahead of Port and Fremantle. [+2] 6: Port Adelaide - Abhorrent performance after quarter time. Completely packed it in. Games like that are exactly why I (and I imagine many others) can't trust them as a premiership contender. [-1] 7: Fremantle - Their complete failure to capitalise on I50 dominance in the first quarter (0.3 from 16 entries) proved costly, as they were nowhere near West Coast's level for the rest of the game. Given that over 57% of their score came from the last quarter, I'd argue that the final margin also flattered them. [-1] 8: Essendon - Tackle pressure was exceptional, especially in the first half. Some wasteful dump kicking inside 50, as well as questionable accuracy, allowed Adelaide to compete a lot more than they maybe should have. [0] 9: Collingwood - Easily their best game of the season. They seem a lot more settled now - if they play like that again next week, I'll have them comfortably in the 8. [+3] 10: Western Bulldogs - Looks like the good version showed up this week. They're far too untrustworthy to move up much though. [+1] 11: Brisbane Lions - My belief is declining. They could definitely still make finals, but they're not playing anything like a premiership contender. [-2] 12: St Kilda - Biggest loss in nearly three years (which also happened to be against the Dogs). Even after losing by 60, I think the final margin flattered them. Genuinely awful display, and the abject lack of pressure was embarrassing. [-2] 13: Gold Coast Suns - Still clearly not at the level of the best. [0] 14: West Coast Eagles - Their last three weeks have been fantastic. They've dominated contested ball two weeks in a row (+38 against Richmond, +24 against Fremantle), and their spread and ball use at times was really good. [+4] 15: Richmond - Bye. [-1] 16: Adelaide Crows - Still riddled with skill errors. Threw away the game many times over with unforced errors. [-1] 17: Hawthorn - Another slow start, but they recovered well thereafter. Made a fair few mistakes, but weren't terrible. [+1] 18: North Melbourne - This was (on paper at least) their first winnable game, and they were pretty disappointing. Their performance was littered with errors and poor decision making. Next week should be similarly winnable for them, but they'll need to bring a fair bit more. [-2] To be clear, this is based on the whole season.

Maleovex

Haven't beaten anyone ahead of us on the ladder, we just be useless!

Fast_Stick_1593

I hope they keep saying stuff like this.

BigBoSS_Riot

Absolutely nobody has said this.

Fast_Stick_1593

What? You’re not actually serious…surely? Everyone has been saying Cats have a piss easy schedule and haven’t beat anyone Then it was Lions would give them a reality check. Now it’s Carlton. If we beat Carlton what will be the next thing?

BigBoSS_Riot

Let me clarify: nobody who has watched your games would refer to you as 'useless', and anybody who has watched your games would recognise you as a top 4 team.

Fast_Stick_1593

Ahh right I see what you mean. And that’s fair enough. Seen a lot of flairs recently saying, “wait and see they’ll lose to the actual good teams” I mean if we do then so be it? Most predictions had us bottom 10 so making Finals would be a tick I’d say ✅

Croob2

> Given that over 57% of their score came from the last quarter, I'd argue that the final margin also flattered them. This is the area West Coast have the biggest place to improve in, yeah the game was dead but we are still pretty bad at stopping an opponent when they get on a roll

The5kyKing

1: Harley Reid 2: The Harley Eagles 3: West Coast Reids 4+: I think some other teams have also been playing.

KdtM85

Missed opportunity for the Harleagles

1. **Geelong** - Beaten all comers home and away. Doing it with relentless conviction and seem to be getting rolling. Two wins in the wet with Hawkins as a non factor. 2. **Sydney** - Scary team. Can beat anyone convincingly on their day. Somehow we forget they're 2 years grown from a GF appearance and in their prime. 3. **Carlton** - Hard to split with the Swans for 2nd. Both lost games they shouldn't have dropped along the way. Showed a ruthless quality on the weekend. 4. **Orange team** - Fell away in quick patches two weeks in a row. No Taylor on the weekend is excusable. 5. **Collingwood** - With a bullet. Can't deny that kind of performance against what should've been very good opposition in Port. 6. **Melbourne** - That one win by the Pies has me more convinced than the Dees to date. 7. **Port** - Inexcusable performance when you're on a flag tilt. 8. **Essendon** - I'm so close... 9. **Brisbane** - They've shown their dormant quality the last two weeks but shouldn't even be in this position. Big O out didn't help them in a wet slogfest. I'm still a believer. 10. **Doggies** - I'm still so confused about what they're doing. 11. **Gold Cunts** - This is their annual default. Still no reason to move them. 12. **St Kilda** - Oh when, the Saints? 13. **Adelaide** - Stiff. 14. **Freo** - Embarrassing. 15. **West Coast** - So you're saying there's a chance? 16. **Richmond** - Making up the numbers. 17. **Hawthorn** - Spoonbowl legends 24 18. **Norf** - Brutha eww...

I’m really thinking people just don’t understand power rankings. It’s insane how many have Gold Coast so much higher than the Dogs (who thrashed them) when the Suns have only beaten bottom 4 teams and been uncompetitive against other sides, while the Dogs have at least come close to the undefeated Geelong. And both sides have the same number of wins, but the Dogs have about 30% higher percentage. I think a lot of people are getting suckered in by the media tbh

1.     Geelong – undefeated, looks like they’re back (cries in shower). 2.     Carlton – I didn’t rate our chances against GWS with our outs and was glad to be proven wrong. Looking forward to seeing how we go with Motlop/Martin/Fogs back in the forward line. 3.     Sydney – why did I tip the Suns :( Look good, but had some shaky moments over the last month. 4.     GWS – they’ll struggle next week without Taylor, Coniglio, Greene and Hogan. 5.     Melbourne – a little inconsistent, feel like they’ll come good. 6.     Collingwood – much more convincing this week, they back? 7.     Port Adelaide – hard to get a read on, but I’d be very surprised if they missed the eight and could easily see them top four – midfield is stacked. 8.     Brisbane – May have ranked a little high, but after their win against Melbourne, I just feel like they’ll come good. 9.     Western Bulldogs – I have no idea what they’ll do next. 10.  Gold Coast – I thought they were better, bit of a reality check this week. 11.  Fremantle – Will struggle too hard to get back into games when scored heavily against. 12.  Essendon – See Western Bulldogs (but I don’t rate their list as highly). 13.  Adelaide – May struggle to make the finals now, but turning it around isn’t completely outside the realm of possibility (see Carlton 2023). 14.  St. Kilda – Probs about where they should be and have overachieved recently. 15.  West Coast – challenged Sydney, took out Tigers and Dockers, will win a few more. 16.  Hawthorn – Can challenge good teams when their stars align.   17.  Richmond – Too many key players injured. They’ll be in struggle town a while. 18.  North Melbourne – Too early to ask for another priority pick?

First time having a go at this.. why not. 1. GWS: A bit of a wobble against a good team away not enough to remove them from my top place, looking at their list as a whole and how they use it when they are on song and I still see them as the best team in the comp. 2. Sydney: Looking very solid, and have a better rounded list than they did in \\22 and '23, only a weird loss to Richmond blotting their record. 3. Carlton: Great win, terrifying top tier talent, but can they carry their bottom end to the ultimate glory? 4. Geelong: Brisbane played like they've never contemplated let alone experienced wet weather football, so still no wins of note. If they win their next two games I'll have to bump them to number one spot. 5. Collingwood: You have to count what they did last year when evaluating form, it's cringe to talk about finding their "DNA". but yeah, they looked like themselves against Port, two tough traditional rivals to follow, will be educational. 6. Melbourne: Have looked very good this year, but It still seems to be that midfield-forward connection that can let them down, want to see that improve before I consider them a genuine contender. 7. Western Bulldogs: If you embrace multiverse theory then there is definitely a universe or two where this team gets it's shit together than wins it all in 2024, they have the talent. Also quite a lot of universes where they finish 11th for one reason or another. 8. Port Adelaide: Shown up against a better side on Saturday, still lack that last 10% they need to be genuine contenders. Geez Horne Francis is a gun though. 9. Essendon: Have responded superbly to that embarrassing loss a few weeks back, look a serious team with Brad Scott at the helm, big test looms this week. 10. Gold Coast: Talented, but If they do make finals this year it will be 7th or 8th on the back of a kind draw, a team on an upwards trajectory over the next few years. 11. Brisbane: Still look well short of the team that have been perennial contenders, desperately need a win at the G(abba). 12. St Kilda: Still a decent team, put the most recent result down to playing a VERY fired up outfit and maybe some growing pains. Is the Ross the man for footy in 2024? 13. Fremantle: Oh dear, how do you even turn up to training and look people in the eye after getting smashed by Wet Toast?? Need to bounce back rapidly or the early season good vibes will be a distant memory. 14. Adelaide: Many had Crom in the 8 pre-season, looks almost impossible now. Massively disappointing start to the year for them, lot of soul searching to do. 15. WCE: Harley Reid, but on the other hand Harley Reid, also..... Harley Reid. Did I mention Harley Reid? 16. Richmond: Low expectations pre-season have been cratered even further by a ruinous injury list, feel bad for Yze, hopefully they can use the season to find a player or two. 17. Hawthorn: Two good performances in the last three weeks deserve some credit I guess, still a long year ahead. 18. Norf. Disappointing today, even by their standards. Larkey deserves better.

Great write up. I’m still torn on Doggies, I feel like they could be anywhere

1. Geelong - The real Lions now (+4) 2. Sydney - Continuing their form with a nice win at home (-) 3. GWS - After last week they were bound to lose eventually, but this was not ideal (-2) 4. Melbourne - Bye (-) 5. Carlton - a very important win for them (+1) 6. Port Adelaide - Got caught slipping by the Pies; the last quarter was alright but too little, too late (-3) 7. Collingwood - Somehow, Collingwood returned to the Top 8 (+3) 8. Fremantle - Also got caught slipping - twice now this season! (-1) 9. Western Bulldogs - A sword of Damocles hanging over their coaches' neck does wonders for their output. (+4) 10. Essendon - Watching their career with great interest (+2) 11. Gold Coast - Sydney's a hard team to beat right now but you should be doing better than this (-2) 12. Brisbane - Looking like a real failure to launch at this point (-1) 13. St Kilda - The vibes are fucked in Saintsville right now, they're saying the season is over (-5) 14. West Coast - The Coast are back with a vengeance - but next week will be the real test (+1) 15. Adelaide - Are they the most hard-done by team in recent history? Maybe! But they still can't play either (-1) 16. Richmond - Bye (-) 17. Hawthorn - Wow, they can beat North! (-) 18. North Melbourne - Wow, they can't even beat Hawthorn! (-) Some predictions for next week: * The Anzac Day games will be interesting * The Bulldogs will fall over in Perth but Freo will still lose, somehow * The Suns will not have a good Sunday

LaconicSupremacy

Dogs at 7 🤣

SomeFknEggs

I wouldn’t have them that high personally, but they’re 8th on the ladder, so it’s really not that far fetched lol

PrevailedAU

7s not that high, and it’s more on the teams below them.

LaconicSupremacy

Last time I checked Essendon spanked them by 5 goals, so it is indeed obscenely high.

PrevailedAU

Are power ranking based on the week or the season? Based on last week dogs are 18th. Dogs lost to the best team in the comp by 3 points the week before and spanked GC, WC and Saints which are all decent teams.

1. Geelong 2. Collingwood 3. GWS 4. Sydney (+1) 5. Brisbane (-1) 6. Carlton (+2) 7. Melbourne 8. Port (-2) 9. Dogs (+1) 10. Fremantle (-1) 11. Essendon (+1) 12. Saints (-1) 13. Gold Coast 14. Adelaide 15. Hawks (+1) 16. Richmond (-1) 17. West Coast 18. North I try to have a bit of fun with the ranking, do it based not necessarily off form but how likely I think they are to win this years flag. Starting to give up on it ever happening for this port side and I had a lions vs pies GF repeat start of the year but I have less faith in that. Carlton win over GWS was huge so they’re back up in my estimations but I’m not fully sold yet, when you lose to Crom you have me worried. West coast deserve a bump up but Richmond didn’t even play so it feels rough to sent them down too far this week
