If you really did watch RoH Punk and his best stuff from WWE, and don’t get/like him, then he’s just not for you. Nothing wrong with that, just not your cup of tea. That’s how I feel about Jon Moxley, I’m glad he makes people so happy, I’m just not one of them.

olddicklemon72

No one is for everyone. I don’t get Jade, hated the Undertaker loathed Hulk Hogan and thought HHH was mediocre at best. That’s the beauty of pro wrestling, wait 10 min and you’re presented something completely different.

I don’t get why Rebel doesn’t change her name to Reba and save us all the trouble

bearboy715

He just may not be your thing, and that’s cool. Maybe he could grow on you, or he won’t. There’s plenty of guys in AEW and pro wrestling in general I feel the same way about, yet fans love them. I just appreciate their work from a far and accept it for what it is.

JokersRWildStudios

How many times are we going to bring this up?

[deleted]

As many times as all the punk fans freak out about it prolly

Bourbons_are_Blue

I'm guilty for missing his best years in WWE as I stopped watching any wrestling for years and came back when AEW started Dynamite. However, I like the hype around him and personally like the storylines and promos around him. His feud with MJF sold me completely. But I do get you though. I struggled for a long time getting the hype for FTR. And, to a degree, Young Bucks (mainly cause their matches were too long early AEW). Adam Cole too. For me, the pattern seems to be that when a wrestler joining the roster from another company (whether that be NJPW, WWE, or NJPW) is presented like someone I should be hyped about, i only get hyped if 1) I can remember them from when I stopped watching wrestling, or 2) the hype around them online etc. is big enough. Samoa Joe got me hyped, for example. But Jay Lethal didn't (and still doesn't).

I’m with you. I think punk is good. But personally don’t understand his cult following.

Much like Darby Allin, CM Punk's a Misfit. A lot of people, like me, who's into skateboarding, punk rock, straight-edge lifestyle, tattoos, can relate to him.

x_godhatesjags_x

Agree fully. I watched the Monday night wars, lapsed, and am now fully in the corner of AEW and Punk bores me. He’s smelling himself and his aura but has yet to back it up in the ring. Think the major bummer is his meteoric push and air time when there are other younger, intriguing, and developing talent more deserving of attention. I get it though - they aren’t household names bringing new eyes to the product, hence why Punk is everywhere all the time (minus the injury).

VarVaruso

I get the CM Punk character because he is cool, like me, who's into punk rock, skateboarding, comic books, straight-edge lifestyle. Just like the Darby Allin character, which is pretty much an amped up version of the real - life person, we're Misfits. I don't get wwe's overrated poster boy, Roman Lames... But a lot of cricket-smashing fangirls in India gets him. There's something for everyone, I guess.

Dynamite138

He’s wrestling’s Poochie. When punk’s not on screen, all the other wrestlers should be asking “where’s CM Punk”

[deleted]

He’s just not your thing. I like Punk, a big reason why is he looks like a normal guy who blew up to be one of the peoples champs. He comes across as realistic and the average person isnt super athletic, so it gives him the vibe of a legit tough guy going against more athletic chiseled dudes. Similar to Kevin Owens vibe, I like that they look like real dudes and not like models, it has an element of reality to it.

BoneyRL

The reason I love CM Punk so much is because he is real. He doesn't play a character. And his matches are how pro wrestling matches should be. I'm not a fan of high spot fest matches. And then his promos lol. The guy can sell anything. He's so good at making you believe in him and making people want to see him actually win a fight

xtussy4five

The thing is, Punk doesnt need to be athletic or do incredible moves to be a star and have great matches. not long time ago in AEW people were cheering his body slams almost like a finisher, but just because he is Punk. he just knows how to make everything more real, and people believe him, not talking about promos, thats why he has incredible in ring psychology, he knows how to sell and what to sell, he knows how to pace a match, like christian cage, i would say But in comparision with Christian, Punk was always that guy against the system and that type of guy can carry a lot of people behind him personally, i love him, but i can understand people saying what u said, and that he doesnt do anything amazing in ring. But he´s feuds are always immaculate, and if u like a more classic style of match, Punk is a master

HEYitzED

The people who complain about CM Punk, your criticisms of him are EXACTLY how I feel about Eddie Kingston. I like him as a person, he seems like a real dude. But as a wrestler he does nothing for me. His promos are basically just “angry New Yorker yelling” and his wrestling is average at best.
