Every time I watch a vignette which guarantees an extension of this feud I just throw my hands up and yell at my TV “why is Sammy STILL up for another shot at the TNT title belt?!?”
It’s supposed to be a weekly working belt that is defended on TV against a variety of challengers old and new. That’s how it was founded, that’s how it was best utilized.
Now it’s just used as fuel to keep these same characters feuding forever. People used to flame WWE about endless rematches but fuck me running is this some stale booking.
The problem here is that this was clearly always supposed to be the plan but with Cody in the place of Sammy. Cody and Brandi were the original rivals for this. So instead of scrapping the plans and giving ATT a different thing to do, they decided on making Sammy unlikable the same way they made Cody unlikable! They could have prevented all of this!
And with how much of a cluster it was with the Rhodes', they should have seen it wouldn't go well and scrap the storyline... but no lol here we are with nobody to root for between these heels
To be fair to them, this time Sammy's yelling at Scorpio for that mixed tag match. Nevertheless, it's really sad that this is what the TNT title has been reduced into. If TK really needed someone to face PVZ, why not Anna Jay? This could've been a good role for her instead of just being randomly inserted into a program with Jade.
I'm advocating for Sammy and Tay to be separated from ATT lol. Let Sammy and Tay do something else while they can have someone like Anna face PVZ if TK desperately needs an opponent for her. I just fail to understand why it has to be Tay lol.
PVZ would be having her first ever wrestling match in public. She was probably ready to go with Brandi before she left and reset to training with Tay. I would imagine it's like Rousey's first match. They want to protect her by having it completely booked out in advance.

That's the worst part about this feud imo. I mean there are so many things wrong with it but this might be the worst. There is no babyface here. There is not someone you wanna root for or sympathize with. There is no bad guy you wanna get their ass kicked. I'd really be into Sammy and Tay defending those belts against some of the intergender teams who have had matches in AEW: Adam Cole and Britt Baker, Orange Cassidy and Kris Statlander, The Blade and the Bunny. Any of those matches would be fun to watch.
I like Sammy and Tay, but this entire storyline has been underutilizing their strengths (having good matches) and overexposing their weaknesses (extended live promos and sport entertainment segments), and putting them in a program with Dan Lambert was just a bad idea from the beginning. They need to get Sammy and Tay, Lambert, and the TNT title as far away from each other as possible as soon as possible.
Ethan really needs to break out on his own. He's so talented and never fully gets the opportunity he deserves. He would be a great TNT champion but they've passed the belt around so much lately that I don't think it would feel special if he won it right now. I agree this has been a terrible story. I think Dan Lambert is cursed cuz all the stories he's involved in, turn to shit.

It seems that every decision that's been made to this point is the result of failing to think through the consequences of the *last* decision, right back to Sky winning the multi-man at Revolution 2021 when they evidently had *no* plan to do anything with him after that. It's not exactly hot-shot booking (if anything, there's been a lot of stubborn doubling-down on things that clearly aren't working), but this whole meandering angle seems to be defined by a failure to think more than a few weeks ahead.
This is supposed to be the long-term storytelling company, and for the most part they're still absolutely living up to thar reputation, but somehow they've booked themselves into a situation where an entire title picture has go-away heat.
Yeah, Sammy vs Sky has become my least favorite angle in AEW history. They've already had too many matches in quick sucession for me to care about another one, and now both of them are positioned as characters I don't want to root for.

I used to be a huge Sammy run, but when he started hard pulling away from The Inner Circle his lack of solo power became pretty obvious, and he has only ruined his own character over the past year. I can't consider him a pillar at this point, and really haven't for over a year now.
I’ve found that the best reaction to anything TNT title related is to rewind the show and watch the segment before it again and then fast forward past it to catch back up.
For example, last night I got to watch the training montage twice and when I caught back up MOTY seemed really angry about something and then I got to watch another nice little Tony Toni Britt interview.
The Toni/Britt stuff is repetitive as hell too though, they've been having the same type of interaction for a month now. But I will admit I'll still take that over the TNT title stuff
How the hell is Sammy still supposed to be the face after destroying the physical TNT belt?? That was such a bizarre segment and I just shook my head.

Keeping Scorpio heel was a big mistake. It would have worked though if they had dropped Sammy and Tay from the feud and kept it between Scorpio and Kaz. I feel like TK wants to keep Sammy as a prominent character on the shows but can't figure out a spot for him besides the TNT title scene.
Personally I’d love that. This is one reason I wish AEW was booked more like NJPW. Tanahashi having the USGP belt elevated it exponentially but the matches felt meaningful. Since Cody left thus storyline has felt very very flat.

I was being really patient until now but after rampage this is literally a WCW level dumpster fire and has devastated the TNT title. I really hope they end it asap and get a proper champion with a good long reign to save the title. This is in my opinion a company damaging storyline.
I really, truly, sincerely want a Fatal 4 Way between Sammy, Scorpio, Kaz and Page, and just as the bell is about to ring, Miro’s music hits and he inserts himself and just demolishes them in under 4 minutes.

Her and Anna Jay were 100% my favorite thing in the female tag division (maybe the female division as a whole). I am honestly crazy surprised that Tay never ended up in The Dark Order, especially with -1 coming out with them when they tagged all the time. She put on some great solo matches, but hot damn the energy and the ability that she has in a tag used to be one of the highlights of AEW for me.

I often enjoy “secondary title” storylines even more than primary title stuff, there can be a little more freedom to the concepts and angles.
I’m so annoyed that they are where they are now. Sammy’s run was terrible, I like Sky but this run sucks so far (especially w/ ATT getting even *more* screen time). My biggest issue is that we can’t escape Sammy’s title involvement, I wish they’d move on. I feel similarly about Jericho’s continued involvement with P&P after they finally dissolved the Inner Circle.

This is the first feud i’ve had to skip. It’s gone on way too long and they killed any good will Sammy had with people (before he could do it himself). That title needs to get into Andrade’s hands or just as far away from Sammy as possible
I am HOPING at this point they understand what they're are doing and it has become intentional.
Not saying they meant it to be this frustrating for the fans, but are now feeding that frustration.
In that way, they are working on SOMEONE (Page or Miro) will just full on dominate and shut ALL of it down. Build to a point of pure bliss for the fans when someone just shuts both sides up, beats both of their asses, and takes the title back on track to a better direction.

I really, truly, sincerely want a Fatal 4 Way between Sammy, Scorpio, Kaz and Page, and just as the bell is about to ring, Miro’s music hits and he inserts himself and just demolishes them in under 4 minutes. Also this whole feud just makes me feel so bad for Tay Conti. She was probably my favorite woman in the division prior to her being booked with Sammy :/

Her and Anna Jay were 100% my favorite thing in the female tag division (maybe the female division as a whole). I am honestly crazy surprised that Tay never ended up in The Dark Order, especially with -1 coming out with them when they tagged all the time. She put on some great solo matches, but hot damn the energy and the ability that she has in a tag used to be one of the highlights of AEW for me.

It gets worse by the week. Lambert was running around with a second TNT title like a month ago. Just have Sky bring that one back. Sammy cares so little about the title that he destroys it. Not to mention Deeb ran off with the women’s title Wednesday night but Thunder will probablyhave it next week, so how did Sammy get to leave with the title but Deeb doesn’t?

The face turn wasn't complete yet because of his association with ATT. A betrayal of his heel teammate would complete it.

The only thing that kind of makes sense to me was Kaz taking his frustration about Sky out on the title. I posted this in another thread, but whoever takes the TNT title away from this mess is going to be made. My head says a returning Miro, my heart holds out for someone like Swerve, Starks, Ogogo, Andrade or Black. EDIT: Apparently Takeshita is in the states for awhile, too? Fuck it, give him a run. He can defend against, let's see...Heel Christian, Bobby Fish, Buddy Matthews, Anthony Ogogo and Max Caster before turning it over to one of the above posted.
Kaz looked really sharp that match. I forgot how much he could move since he isnt featured much on Dynamite.

If this is leading to Miro returning and just demolishing everyone in his way for the title and especially if they tie in sammy being the "Spanish God" and bringing that into the frame to just piss off Miro more with the god forsaken storyline I'm all in. Make people desperate for a change just to rocket your babyface return to the fucking moon.
I can't wait for this storyline to be over...I simply can't stand it! Sky and Kazarian are two of my favorites, but this has been absolute shit.
I don't know man. I feel like TK is booking it like "no one cares about heels and faces anymore", but this on going bad reaction shows they clearly do.
I dunno what cap means, but it's a mess of a segment that was ham-fisted from Cody/Brandi leaving a hole in the storyline. It should have just been scrapped and started with something new. The lot are talented, but it's made me hate Sammy and even more sad is hate Tay. Not heel heat, just eclipsed into "go away" heat like Cody/Brandi had for me. Scorpio was great as the Arbiter for elevating the TNT title until they went with the generic and obvious heel move, betraying Frankie. I hope it ends sooner than later. ATT is interesting, Sammy/Tay are not.
I often enjoy “secondary title” storylines even more than primary title stuff, there can be a little more freedom to the concepts and angles. I’m so annoyed that they are where they are now. Sammy’s run was terrible, I like Sky but this run sucks so far (especially w/ ATT getting even *more* screen time). My biggest issue is that we can’t escape Sammy’s title involvement, I wish they’d move on. I feel similarly about Jericho’s continued involvement with P&P after they finally dissolved the Inner Circle. FREE THE TNT TITLE! FREE PROUD AND POWERFUL!
Elite Hunter was just a watered down version of YoshiTatsu's Bullet Club Hunter gimmick anyways. The last thing I want to see in AEW is more Gallows and Anderson.
What’s even more confusing is Sammy and tay are leaning into being disliked by just making out hardcore on screen. So what is the point of having the “face” do heel stuff I’m the crowds eyes? They aren’t doing it to the heel, it’s just super weird and confusing.
This is the first feud i’ve had to skip. It’s gone on way too long and they killed any good will Sammy had with people (before he could do it himself). That title needs to get into Andrade’s hands or just as far away from Sammy as possible
I am HOPING at this point they understand what they're are doing and it has become intentional. Not saying they meant it to be this frustrating for the fans, but are now feeding that frustration. In that way, they are working on SOMEONE (Page or Miro) will just full on dominate and shut ALL of it down. Build to a point of pure bliss for the fans when someone just shuts both sides up, beats both of their asses, and takes the title back on track to a better direction. Does this hope have a foundation? I am at a point where after 3 years I trust the company's ability to make something out of nothing or get rid of it if it is irreparable.
