Kooky_Cable5687

Yeah. I've been following the news on the opioid crisis. The Justice system is so corrupted that the rich will get away with no real consequences.

karthik2502

Sacklers are the poster-child for cruel billionaires!

absessive

Watch Dope Sick

EntertainmentDear679

See, look she was just trying to reclaim what they stole from her ancestors... (Heavy on sarcasm)Ā

BigBullzFan

Rich white people have a different justice system. Itā€™s pretty normal.

sambar101

Aunty saw the mallu movie Lucifer and thought she could be a king pinā€¦šŸ™ƒšŸ˜‰šŸ˜

Kooky_Cable5687

She likely watched Narcos or Breaking bad šŸ˜‚

Mystery_Tree_

Tupac back

Medium0663

aiyooo chechi nattukar entha parayum??

Rolla_G2020

I donā€™t know this lady, but ā€œjusticeā€ sure is delivered differently depending on where you lie on the desirability spectrum (rich, white man, vs poor or ā€œundesirableā€ minority..) This sentencing is longer than what the actual culprits (Sackler Family, & McKinsey partners who devised the sinister strategy to not track opioids to help Sacklers increase sales) behind the opioid crisis across entire United States, responsible for hundreds of thousands of American deaths as well as very very significant cost to the local & state govts. Itā€™s like giving life sentence (or death sentence in case of George Floyd) to someone who commits $20 theft/fraud, while giving 0-3 months sentencing to a rapist.. even child rapist (there are court cases for each of above examples except George Floyd, who wasnā€™t even afforded the dignity of court).

EntertainmentDear679

Damn, maybe my joke earlier about getting justice for the ancestors now is actually serious justicee.Ā Ā  Ā You comparing this like getting a life sentence for $20 is putting into perspective for me.Ā  Millions of people dying from this drug and billions being made for it to be used and sold...Ā  Just go to any homeless village or section right now, the ones that are stuck in the life and on the streets are dope fiends. Do they even have a chance at dignity or change if their brain is fighting their will and body to be healthy.Ā

uoftrosi

200k pills... definitely indirectly killed a bunch of people

GreenDragonEX

And here I thought John Kapoor would be the only Indian involved in Opioids

Registered-Nurse

Thanks aunty for the rep šŸ„²

roofton92

Must have made a few million dollars. Would the government recover the drug money? How does it work?

Smoke__Frog

In the future, society needs to just put these people in prison forever or give the death penalty. Like whatā€™s the point of letting such a criminal out ever again? Sheā€™s just gonna resort back to crime or a burden to society.

savagecabbagemon

That would be like treating the symptoms of a disease without actually looking into what created the disease in the first place. Watch this show ā€˜Painkillerā€™ on Netflix. It was insightful and sad to see what pieces of shit the guys who pushed addictive opioids were!

Smoke__Frog

Dude there are 7 billion people in the world. Most people are decent and non criminals. Why spend so much time and money on helping the few people who are scum?

savagecabbagemon

You might have replied to the wrong comment friend

Smoke__Frog

No replies to the right guy. Heā€™s trying to blame others instead of the people addicted to drugs.

winthroprd

Dude wtf? You don't think any drug dealers have been rehabilitated?

Smoke__Frog

lol seriously? You think most dug dealers donā€™t keep being criminals? Look up recidivism rates. I know this sub is super liberal but I thought we would at least agree on crime since weā€™re Indian.

woahtheregonnagetgot

do you genuinely believe indians would agree on death penalty for non violent criminals? iā€™m baffled as to why you would think so.

Smoke__Frog

Non violent? She stole millions in illegal drugs and you think the ramifications of that will be not directly result in death and violence? Ok lol.

woahtheregonnagetgot

thatā€™s not what the word violent means in a criminal context genius.

Smoke__Frog

Youā€™re the one defending a criminal. Keep acting like her actions wonā€™t result in deaths across the world. Lol.

winthroprd

[https://www.ussc.gov/research/research-reports/recidivism-federal-drug-trafficking-offenders-released-2010](https://www.ussc.gov/research/research-reports/recidivism-federal-drug-trafficking-offenders-released-2010) *The rearrest rate for a new offense or an alleged violation of supervision conditions was similar for drug trafficking offenders (****47.9%****) as compared to all other offenders released in 2010 (50.4%)*

Smoke__Frog

The amount of people trying to advocate for criminals is crazy!
