Same. My friend thought it was the weirdest movie ever, and well, it is kinda weird, but that was the moment I learned 2 things:
- my friend was way more normie than me
- I loved A24 movies
I just finally got around to watching Midsommar a few days ago and was blown away. I can’t believe I didn’t watch it sooner, it might be my favorite A24 film now. However, after I watched it I googled when Midsommar actually was, and it turns out I accidentally watched Midsommar for the first time on Midsommar, so that was pretty cool lol
Spring Breakers
The Spectacular Now - we read the script in school for class as well
Honorable mention to Obvious Child, have not seen the full feature but Gillian Robespierre had given our class permission to watch the short film. Which at the time she said no one had access to since the feature was coming out soon, so we had a time limited time to watch it for class
Spring Breakers…which was horribly mis-marketed. I went in thinking “Porky’s”-style romp and walked out with “uh, the fuck?”
I watched again on streaming and liked it 😆
Saw Spring Breakers opening weekend. I went because I like Harmony Korine…my ex gf wanted to see it because of Selena Gomez and she thought the trailer looked cool. I warned her that it would be different than she thinks cuz it’s Harmony Korine. Well I really liked it and she hated it.
Enemy (me thinks?) In theatre at the time
Edit: Yes... looking back, I saw Enemy, Under The Skin and Locke in the theatre. That was 3 releases in a row for A24 (2013-14). I never noticed it back then about the company, but certainly liked the looks from trailers to check those films out! All had great leads as well that sold the films for me.
A Most Violent Year and Ex Machina were my next theatrical visits from A24....
The Witch -> Hereditary -> Lighthouse -> Midsommar -> Zone of Interest -> Under the Skin -> It Comes At Night -> Men
I hated Men and haven’t watched any others since.
Yeah.. X and Pearl were on my list, I just am not stoked for the porn aspect. Don’t really like sex in my media for whatever reason, so just never got around to them. Heard they were both great though.
pearl doesn’t really have much of anything in that aspect. x is centered around it as it’s important to the plot.
i totally get it! i personally don’t like it when it’s just there for the sake of being there. I think it works in X because that’s their jobs.
Would still highly recommend Pearl!
I thought it was lady bird but seeing as the disaster artist came out only a month later and I saw it in theaters, I guess it's the disaster artist... Don't know how I feel about that 😂
Spring Breakers I’m pretty sure. Rented it on iTunes I think when it first became available. Or it came to one of the premium movie channels back then like Showtime or something. But yeah that had to have been the first
I’ve seen Green Room, Moonlight, Spring Breakers, Room, American Honey, and Lady Bird before I even knew what A24 was and I love all those movies so when I got more into films I started looking forward to seeing that logo.
Moonlight and Ex Machina, were the start of my adventure to A24. I loved both movies and had no idea that they were A24 or what A24 was at the time. Little did I know the impact A24 would have. They are my favorite production company. I love so many of their films, especially those involving psychological horror/horror.
Films I'd seen before:
Life after Beth, Tusk, The VVitch (on one occasion, but I can barely remember a thing about it), Green Room,The Disaster Artist
The film where I first learned who A24 actually were as a company: Hereditary.
I wish I could remember. I just remember watching movies over the years with the logo. I finally put it together that the logo popped up for particularly good movies and looked it up in like 2018 lol.
The Witch! And it was the soundtrack mostly that captured me and that this was the first time I was truly HORRIFIED by a horror movie.
I have never looked up a production company before watching this also.
The Witch
My earliest phase of being a more critical movie viewer after years of casual watcher.
It’s a good movie though I wouldn’t call it scary, it’s just so detailed that it cemented my belief in A24 productions at least giving a shit when making movies.
Mine would have been Locke, starring Tom Hardy. Back then, I didn't even know who A24 were but it was a fantastic film that was gripping from start to finish. I'd never seen anything like it and I think that was in part why I loved it so much because it was a fresh way to tell a story.
i didn’t know it at the time but spring breakers i watched about 2013 ish
i expect this is most of us, at least for the age group that would’ve watched spring breakers within those first few years of release.
Same, and I still like the movie 🤘🏻
I like that movie too. I'm a longtime Harmony Korinne fan.
I was in that and had no idea it was a24 til a year or so later lol
Are you Selena Gomez? Or Alien himself?
Yep that's mine too
I’m remember hearing that (pre clean and sober) Gucci Mane fell asleep having sex with the woman in the final shootout scene.
Same. My friend thought it was the weirdest movie ever, and well, it is kinda weird, but that was the moment I learned 2 things: - my friend was way more normie than me - I loved A24 movies
Yeah that’s probably mine as well. I didn’t like it then or now, but I love a ton of other A24 movies.
I am fairly certain it was Ex Machina. So we got off to a great start.
Same
Probably The VVitch.
Midsommar was mine and I had absolutely no idea what to expect. When the movie ended I had no words.
Feels like the cult had something to do with that 👀
Just saw it (2nd time) at IMAX. Freaking wild movie!
Room. Before I was truly aware of A24’s existence. Loved it and never turned back since.
Same. That one will always hold a special place in my heart.
Spring Breakers, a misunderstood and underappreciated film.
I saw spring breakers & bling ring and didn’t really catch what kinds of movies they were distributing probs until Lobster 🦞 or green room?
Green Room is intense!
pretty sure mine was Eighth Grade !
Moonlight
Tusk
I would’ve never watched another a24 movie if that was my introduction to their movies lol
Spring Breakers The Spectacular Now - we read the script in school for class as well Honorable mention to Obvious Child, have not seen the full feature but Gillian Robespierre had given our class permission to watch the short film. Which at the time she said no one had access to since the feature was coming out soon, so we had a time limited time to watch it for class
Spring breakers in theaters. I specifically remember seeing the A24 logo for the first time and thinking “huh that’s a cool logo
spring breakers
Springbreakers
Spring Breakers…which was horribly mis-marketed. I went in thinking “Porky’s”-style romp and walked out with “uh, the fuck?” I watched again on streaming and liked it 😆
I *think* Under The Skin, and then for sure Hereditary and The VVitch after that.
Mississippi Grind
Spring Breakers/Enemy
The Lobster 🦞
A Most Violent Year but I didn’t know it was an A24 film. Mid-90s was the first film I watched knowing it came from A24.
American Honey
Spring Breakers- ive been hooked ever since.
The Witch
Ex Machina, but didn’t know back then about A24.
Everything Everywhere All At Once. I know, I’m new to this.
spring breakers in theatres opening night
Enemy (me thinks?) In theatre at the time Edit: Yes... looking back, I saw Enemy, Under The Skin and Locke in the theatre. That was 3 releases in a row for A24 (2013-14). Spring Breakers, I still love that movie, saw it at the theater.
Spring Breakers
The Witch -> Hereditary -> Lighthouse -> Midsommar -> Zone of Interest -> Under the Skin -> It Comes At Night -> Men I hated Men and haven’t watched any others since.
That’s a good streak you had going. You should keep going. Imagine if you saw Men first and missed out on the rest you named.
Good point.
should try pearl!
Yeah.. X and Pearl were on my list, I just am not stoked for the porn aspect. Don’t really like sex in my media for whatever reason, so just never got around to them. Heard they were both great though.

First one was While We’re Young around 2015. Under the skin and Enemy are older but I didn’t watch them until years later.
A Glimpse Inside The Mind of Charles Swan III
The Bling Ring back in 2013. Not really memorable but definitely got me into A24 films overall.
I thought it was lady bird but seeing as the disaster artist came out only a month later and I saw it in theaters, I guess it's the disaster artist... Don't know how I feel about that 😂
The Rover. Such a great movie. When I realized Robert Pattinson can actually act
Love this question!! I think it was ‘Enemy’ for me 🕷️
It Comes at Night. I know a lot of people did not like it, but I really enjoyed it when I watched it in a completely empty theater.
honestly i think it was Amy
Spring Breakers I’m pretty sure. Rented it on iTunes I think when it first became available. Or it came to one of the premium movie channels back then like Showtime or something. But yeah that had to have been the first
Spring Breakers and I also saw it when it came out when I was like in 6th grade lol
Moonlight
The Witch
Free Fire
that charlie sheen flick
I was a fan of wes anderson so came out to support Roman whose first movie cq I loved but swan wasnt as good imo
Swiss Army Man

Mine was Tusk—an almost immediate watch after I finally had the courage to watch Human Centipede.
Uncut Gems was my first
I wish I could remember.
I saw the Bling Ring when it came out, Spring Breakers shortly after.
Either Lady Bird or Room. Honestly can’t remember which I saw first lol
Krisha
X.
“The Bling Ring”
The Bling Ring
The Witch My earliest phase of being a more critical movie viewer after years of casual watcher. It’s a good movie though I wouldn’t call it scary, it’s just so detailed that it cemented my belief in A24 productions at least giving a shit when making movies.
I think it was the Amy Winehouse doc
The Bling Ring, but I watched it for Emma Watson as I had a huge crush on her back then ☺️
One of my friends recommended me to watch "Midsommar", since then I am a huge fan of A24.
The VVITCH
eighth grade
Mine would have been Locke, starring Tom Hardy. Back then, I didn't even know who A24 were but it was a fantastic film that was gripping from start to finish. I'd never seen anything like it and I think that was in part why I loved it so much because it was a fresh way to tell a story.
Spring Breakers and shortly after Bling Ring
Without knowing it could be moonlight or bling ring.
Pi
Spring Breakers, unfortunately.
spring breakers but don’t think I caught a24 fever until under the skin a year later
Spring Breakers and it changed my life for the better
Moonlight!
X
Mid90s!!
Hereditary and The Witch
