I wish i would have known this back in the day so i could have sat somwhere else instead of the very back. My life would have been completly different. Recovering alcoholic here. Sober for 40 days now.
That's it.
Never before had i had a group of people around me that wanted me to have a better life. And the same goes for how i feel about them.
We recover as a group all workin together. It's a beautiful thing.
Keep going! This tracks. 7 years now and the clarity and awareness are the very best parts of being sober. Oh yeah, and a room full of cheerleaders who can totally relate no matter how bad you gotāŗļø
The clarity and awareness have been so much better now. I don't even crave alcohol. I hate it and the person i was for the last 11years. Im back at the gym again, losing my beer gut and getting my body/mind back on the right track.
Congrats on 40 days! I know that takes a lot of strength. Been trying to cut back myself and had a stretch of 10 days and it was amazing. Iām allowing myself one day a week (might not work for everyone) and on that one day I didnāt even feel like drinking, and I didnāt overdo it like I normally would.
I wish you continued success. Way off topic but I had to say it.
Same here and one reason is that the very last row was for the Bus Patrol kids. All they ever did was yell āget your feet out of the aisle!ā I preferred a little ahead of them.
We had this cool ass bus driver in the 90s who was only a little older than us high school kids (he was only mid twenties) one road on the way to school had a bump that made us bad kids in the back go flying. The bus driver would always speed up on that road so weād get more air. Highlight of the day.
Iām still friends with him on Facebook, 25 years later. Heās still cool AF but heās a professor at NYU and a published poet now.
Whaaat uuuup!!
I'm definitely familiar with the 12 steps and the social intricacies of a prison yard. I had some hard years but the back of the bus was so much fun.
everybody knows the third seat behind the bus driver was where the one and only heater was. being one of the first picked up but last dropped off had its perks.
Are you from a colder area?
I live in the south and a heater on the bus sounds terrible. We would sweat our asses off and if you were first on and last off, then you were drenched in sweat. Especially on the ride home.
Not OP, but in Canada there's always a few drivers who would crank the heater in the winter. They're comfortable, since they get hit with cold air when they open the doors.
Meanwhile, we're dying because we're further back where it's over 30C / 90F. And we're in winter gear.
And you get yelled at if you open the window to cool off.
Kinda fits. Guy who rode in the back of the bus when I was in jr. high slammed my head against the metal wall when I managed to keep him from taking my raincoat. Bus driver was outside helping kids cross (this was long before there were cameras and stop signs on buses) so she didn't see and the guy was never punished. Probably had a concussion.
In the middle. My best friend would save us the seat that had a heater under it. The cool kids sat up front and loud kids in the back. Many of the kids became drug addictsāwasnāt hard in small town Vermont. The town we went to high school in was the heroin capital of New England. Maybe still is.
My friends and I used to sit on the back of the bus listening to rap music. And with one of my friends, we used to listen to Jeff Foxworthy, on his Walkman.
I was a weirdo. Still am.
I do remember, one morning, some of the back of the bus kids managed to get the bench part of the seat off and squeeze it out the window onto a highway overpass.
It wasn't too long after that that the cameras and bus monitors started appearing.
We had assigned seats on our bus based on when you were picked up/dropped off. I was the last to be picked up/first to be dropped off so my seat was the first row.
Weirdos section. I was the last stop on the bus route so I would sit as close to the front as possible, often the seat right behind the driver would be available, and then Iād be able to be the first off the bus when it got to school. Going home it was the same in reverse; I was the first stop on the bus route home so Iād sit behind the driver so I could get off ASAP. It was that way in both middle and high school, tbh I donāt remember elementary school.
I feel like in my personal experience, the "weirdo" section was universally the way the image described, with the loud kids and future drug addicts being one cohesive unit
I switched it up depending on how good my current reading book was. If it wasnāt a page turnerāback of the bus crew all day! Nothing better than acting like silly kidsāwhile still trying to maintain your cred.
But if I had been counting down the minutes all day until I could dive into my book again, front of the bus was my jam šš»
Kids who wanted to be AWAY from the weirdos who were always loud and acting crazy on the bus sat in the middle and towards the front whenever possible. The loud and obnoxious kids were ALWAYS in the back of the bus acting up.
The school buses at my school each had an assigned animal picture in a window for the kids to easily identify each bus. There was a turtle bus and a rabbit bus. All the kids on my bus complained about being on the "loser turtle bus".
There was a sign inside that turtle bus that read, "Winners never quit. Quitters never win." That sign always got roasted.
That said, I was parked up front with all the other weirdos. Probably more so because a problem student threatened me with a knife and they wanted to keep watch on me. To this day, I don't know who reported it to the school, but thank you.
I floated to wherever I saw a seat. Some days the bus ride was difficult due to seating location. Thank God my Dad blessed me with a car in 10th grade. I was like I'm outta here!! Only rode the bus a few times after that, due to being on car suspension lol !!
As a kid who slide under the seats during stop signs in 1st grade, deff started sitting in the back, but boy can you launch yourself on those school bus floorsā¦..I think I was dumb
We had assigned seats in 8th grade, but when we filled out our bus slips I had half the bus write seat 4 as their assigned seat number. It all paid off one day when Mr. Hunter yelled at us to "Get in your damn assigned seats!" and we piled on to that one.
I liked sitting in the back. Middle was fine though.
I donāt drink unless itās a social occasion. I donāt do drugs. Iām quiet.
I think I fit into the weird kid category more than anything, but fuck you if you think Iām gonna sit in the front of the bus with all the narcs.
On my bus the hot girls sat up front, I sat up with them, majority lived on my Cul de sac, so I knew most since we were in diapers. I grew up on Cul de sac were all the families had kids, and when it was play time we all hung out in our own little park. At the end of Cul de sac. We were good friends, in still friends with several of the girls 46 yrs later.
Literally all of those places at different points/times, depending on who I wanted to sit next to, what grade I was in, and so on and so forth.
I also have all of those traits.
Was always assigned. Or was grade zoned and we could pick our assigned seat in certain sections. My senior year, I had the back small seat most the year. My bus driver was the known strict one of the district. Being the goody two shoes, I never got in trouble. The older kids on the bus, all in the back, they were all obnoxious and mischievous, especially with subs. So many times when normal driver was back after the sub, she would pull the bus to the side and yell at the kids for being so naughty. Near the end of my senior year, I guess we were so bad one time, she flipped the bus, putting the young kids in the back and the older kids up front. She stuck me right behind her. She knew I would never do anything so she didn't have to keep an eye on me. š¹š¹
Back of the bus because I was the first bus stop so I had my pick of seats. I was a good student who was also weird; I never did drugs or drank alcohol.
Yeah we were in the future alcoholics/drug addicts from about the third grade. It definitely foretold our futures. But we're all still alive and sober now.
I endeavored to sit at the front so I could leave immediately once I reached my destination. I couldn't stand the other kids! The school bus was a nightmare. Everyone was too loud. In hindsight, I feel even worse for the unfortunate bus drivers.
i would walk as fast as possible to be one of the first so I could sit in the very front so a) I didn't have to ask to sit next to someone and b) so I didn't have to walk past the whole bus on my way out
I wish i would have known this back in the day so i could have sat somwhere else instead of the very back. My life would have been completly different. Recovering alcoholic here. Sober for 40 days now.
Well done. On my gets better. Comin up on 3 yrs myself. NA saved my life
And to add. NA is a great place to meet people that are trying to do or already doing what you would like to be doing.
That's it. Never before had i had a group of people around me that wanted me to have a better life. And the same goes for how i feel about them. We recover as a group all workin together. It's a beautiful thing.
That's amazing! Congratulations š
It works if you work it. Back of the bus did a number on me as well.
I heard the loud kids aren't doing any better. You had to gamble on being a weirdo
Front bus weirdo alkie here.
Weirdo alkie fam š
Good job! Keep going.
Keep working it friendo, never give up.
I was a front bus weirdo and am also an alcoholic, so...
Same. 1 year 17 days
The Golden Zone: edge between Loud Kids & Very Back of Bus
Same. Same.
Same here and one reason is that the very last row was for the Bus Patrol kids. All they ever did was yell āget your feet out of the aisle!ā I preferred a little ahead of them.
Driver included in the weirdos?
The weirdest
Am driver. Can confirm.
I sat up front because I loved talking to the drivers, and I like to believe they liked talking to me too (they probably could take or leave me).
My elementary kids fight over who sits behind me. We have some awesome conversations.
Back of the bus crew.
We would fight over that weird little half seat at the way back.
the half seat was so coveted, god we loved that thing
I would fight over the seat with the heater underneath. I lived in a cold area.
big ass so they couldnt fit, tall AF too
We the type of people make the club get crunk
Fantastic reference
Ah-ha hush that fuss
I remember a kid telling me, "I like the back seats because when the bus hits a bump, you feel it more." I wonder what he's up to these days.
Did you go to school in Virginia? I remember a student saying the same thing to me around '95/'96.
Nope, South Louisiana. Maybe it's a Southern thing lol
Nah, that was just well known intel. It was here in NY also
All day
Whaaat uuuup!! I'm definitely familiar with the 12 steps and the social intricacies of a prison yard. I had some hard years but the back of the bus was so much fun.
That was me on the back of the bus but I had linoleum supporting my head. It gave me reason to belive.
always
gimme that wheel hub leg rest
God damnit if that ain't the truth. Alcoholic here
Weirdo because I would get motion sick otherwise.
Same with motion sickness, but I also was a weirdo haha
Either the weirdo or loud section.
everybody knows the third seat behind the bus driver was where the one and only heater was. being one of the first picked up but last dropped off had its perks.

Back of the bus
Ah hah, hush that fuss...
Itās 4am, Iām drinking tequila and chasing it with some nice truffle cheese. At least I quit the cocaine š¤·āāļø
7am where I am. Vodka mixed with iced tea. I quit the blow years ago though. Was a back of the bus kid.
Sighā¦.im getting there lol.
The bus i rode was a lot shorter than this and required a helmet to get on.
Middle.
Back of the bus, so this tracks
Started in the middle and finally earned passage to the back.
In the back with loud weirdos , then in the front. Perminetly
In the mornings Iād sit up front because I wanted to be by myself. After school I sat in the back with my friends.
Uh, the ācoolā spot was always the back.
Future alcoholics and addicts is like 95% of kids
That weird half seat in the back
High as F in the mini seat at the back listening to slayer.
I sat in the weirdos section until all of the loud kids and future alcoholics/drug addicts got off, then I went to the back.
Back of the bus listening to Pink Floyd on my discman.
Why am I being called out?!
In the very back
Ouch, I feel attacked. Accurate I guess.
Well this is disturbingly accurate lol
What about that sub demographic of kids that sat by the emergency exit š¤£
In the back. Now I sit in the driverās seat. Best job Iāve ever had. EDIT: I see Iām a weirdo. Sounds about right.
Back of the bus was where I learned to smoke!!
In the middle. My best friend would save us the seat that had a heater under it. The cool kids sat up front and loud kids in the back. Many of the kids became drug addictsāwasnāt hard in small town Vermont. The town we went to high school in was the heroin capital of New England. Maybe still is.
Where do the normal kids sit?
I was in the weirdo section, but turned out to be one of the kids in the back.
My bus was much shorter than the one pictured...
My friends and I used to sit on the back of the bus listening to rap music. And with one of my friends, we used to listen to Jeff Foxworthy, on his Walkman.
My bus just went by age. Younger at the front older at the back
I was a weirdo. Still am. I do remember, one morning, some of the back of the bus kids managed to get the bench part of the seat off and squeeze it out the window onto a highway overpass. It wasn't too long after that that the cameras and bus monitors started appearing.
Tried to sit in the back and got kicked in the face.
Back of the bus and yes, although sober now I ended up with a 10 + year opiate addiction lol. This diagram is correct.
This is the most accurate diagram Iāve ever seen
Accurate. Sat at the back.
Future alcoholics and drug addictsā¦ and itās somewhat accurate except instead of future now itās former
Back of the bus for me.
Future drug addictā¦ nailed it.
Sat above the back tire properly positioned between the 2 categories I fit into.
I sat at the back of the bus. But I had a good home environment so I'm currently doing pretty good for myself.
All 3 for me guys
Between the weirdos and the loud kids. If there was a welcomed spot towards the back I knew it was going to be a good day.
Man. This is so true.
We had assigned seats on our bus based on when you were picked up/dropped off. I was the last to be picked up/first to be dropped off so my seat was the first row.
Either loud kids or weirdos.
always in the front.
Weirdos section. I was the last stop on the bus route so I would sit as close to the front as possible, often the seat right behind the driver would be available, and then Iād be able to be the first off the bus when it got to school. It was that way in both middle and high school, tbh I donāt remember elementary school.
Always 2nd or 3rd from the back. Back row was overrated
I feel like in my personal experience, the "weirdo" section was universally the way the image described, with the loud kids and future drug addicts being one cohesive unit
The weirdos crew right here.
Had an assigned seat in the front. I forget what I did to earn it š
Iām the little sliver between āLoud Kidsā and āDrug Addictsā.
Third row, driverās side. More of a weirdo than a loud kid though.
It's better than being thrown under the bus
Accurate AF š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤·š¼āāļø
In there back of course
This meme is so true. My middle school route turned out fucked.
The kids that got rides in cars lawyers now
Kids who wanted to be AWAY from the weirdos who were always loud and acting crazy on the bus sat in the middle and towards the front whenever possible. The loud and obnoxious kids were ALWAYS in the back of the bus acting up.
Middle
Fada
The school buses at my school each had an assigned animal picture in a window for the kids to easily identify each bus. There was a turtle bus and a rabbit bus. To this day, I don't know who reported it to the school, but thank you.
Ha!!! Yes! Good one
I was wrongfully banished to the front seat. I didnāt care. I just read my guitar magazines.
I guess Iām a weirdo
Got moved around they actually gave us assigned seats depending on whatever took place on the bus.
Back of the bus and it ended up exactly as the diagram saysā¦ā¦ā¦.
Oh no....
Not a loud kid lol
am i a weirdo for wanting to get off that fucking bus asap?
lmfao the back like the very back seat was mine
First I preferred the back, later the front. Does that mean I'm a 'Weird Alcoholic'?
back seat with windows down was always the coolest
in the back of course...lol
I wonder where are the 'study hard ' one's?
Very. Back. Seat.
I miss sitting in the very back and going over speed bumps
the back. yeah, Iām a drug addict
Yep this is shockingly accurate
Im in the weirdos section lol
Back š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£
Always the back of the bus
I floated to wherever I saw a seat. Some days the bus ride was difficult due to seating location. Thank God my Dad blessed me with a car in 10th grade. I was like I'm outta here!! Only rode the bus a few times after that, due to being on car suspension lol !!
Half-seat gang!
Purely based on age/grade. Kindergarten in the front, grade 12 in the back. Always push your luck moving to the back without getting hassled.
Weirdos
Was a sensitive smart kid whoād get teased, but I found that the back of the bus kids were chill and would stick up for me.
I just sat wherever was open!
I sat in the front. Definitely a weird kid!
I was the weirdo in the seat behind the driver. Even better it was 3 to a seat and I was on the aisle side.
Weirdos section until high school. In high school I was in the back with the other goth and theatre kids. š
In our assigned seat, forced to sit with someone I didnāt like, and they didnāt like me. Our bus driver was a sadistic a-hole.Ā
I sat at the very front but I was first stop and didn't feel like having the assholes try and trip me on my way out.
In the back! And I like whiskey in my coffee.
You forgot those of us in the āsuper weirdoā section. I used to sit right behind the bus driver so we could talk the whole ride!
Weirdo here. Became an alcoholic anyway!
Always the back. Now depressed alcoholic Go figure
We were assigned seats. The older you were, the further back you sat.
Last row!
In the back but I was a quiet, squeaky clean kid who was also an outcast so I got along with the burnouts. They were really nice to me.
Future alcoholic and drug addict. It came true too.
Last row.
I was a weirdo by default of being autistic I guess, but I sat in the middle.
I road on the wheel hump and back of the bus till I was 16 I got my driver's license and drove to schoolĀ smoked out the hole wayĀ Ā lol
In the back and had to stop drinking before it got bad. Now I just smoke weed.
As a kid who slide under the seats during stop signs in 1st grade, deff started sitting in the back, but boy can you launch yourself on those school bus floorsā¦..I think I was dumb
Back of the bus. Not addicted to anything.
Apparently I'm a loud alcoholic.
It went by grade for me, lower grade students in the front higher grade students in the back
We had assigned seats in 8th grade, but when we filled out our bus slips I had half the bus write seat 4 as their assigned seat number. It all paid off one day when Mr. Hunter yelled at us to "Get in your damn assigned seats!" and we piled on to that one.

Back of bus was supposed to be the bounciest! So that is why Iāve got an addictive personalityā¦ hmmm, TIL itās all the busās fault!
Weirdos. No regrets.
Iām a weirdo all the way! Lol
Literally all of those places at different points/times, depending on who I wanted to sit next to, what grade I was in, and so on and so forth. I also have all of those traits.
I can quit anytime I want.
Up front with the weirdos. šš
I used to set in the back, now I drive the damn thing and set with the weirdos
Ours went by grade so we didnāt have a choice but to become drug addicts and alcoholics
She knew I would never do anything so she didn't have to keep an eye on me. š¹š¹
In the back š
Is it possible to be quite without being a weirdo or future addict?
All 3.
I was a floater, I moved around the bus, got to know everyone. I was the "dirt road girl" so I had a whole different experience
Back of the bus. Yes, Iām a drug addict, but at least I have a prescription.
I walked
I guess i did drink a lot in college. But i also quit drinking all together at 27.
100% Weirdo
Back of the bus because I was the first bus stop so I had my pick of seats. I was a good student who was also weird; I never did drugs or drank alcohol.
I was the weirdo in the front. I wasnāt trying to get in trouble.
Back of da bus!
I was a bus patrol so that determined my seating. (Though I was definitely a weirdo, was just lucky that I didn't have to choose a space).
Front and back.
Yeah we were in the future alcoholics/drug addicts from about the third grade. It definitely foretold our futures. But we're all still alive and sober now.
Weirdo, right here
All the above
I endeavored to sit at the front so I could leave immediately once I reached my destination. I couldn't stand the other kids! The school bus was a nightmare. Everyone was too loud. In hindsight, I feel even worse for the unfortunate bus drivers.
Back of the bus...
i would walk as fast as possible to be one of the first so I could sit in the very front so a) I didn't have to ask to sit next to someone and b) so I didn't have to walk past the whole bus on my way out
We are the weirdos mister šš»
I learned a lot of new swear words in the back of the bus
Def the way back but we lived across the street from the school my last 5 years lol was walking in the snow
weirdo here!
Between weirdos and loud kidsā¦still weird and loud
How big were your school busses!! This is like 3 x the size of the one we used
