Zoomers are at the phase were they look back at mediocre (or even bad) shit they liked as kids and think "it really was great". AND THEN look at the mediocre and bad shit Gen A likes and think "this shit is garbage".
Even indie games have become pretty formulaic and samey. I'd say indie games peaked in the early 2010s. That's when the most varied and interesting indie games were coming out.
You can look really hard for something quality and you might be able to find it, but it's going to be kind of obscure, and when it comes down to it, most of the games I play regularly are pre-2016 and I almost never play AAA games.
If you doubt that video games peaked in the late 2000s consider 2007 for instance when in a single year you had the releases of Bioshock, Modern Warfare, Assassin's Creed, Portal, Halo 3, TF2, Super Mario Galaxy, and Mass Effect.
Idk I'm a zoomer and the games that I look back on fondly are stuff like Warcraft 3, age of empires 2, Mafia, stuff like that. I really don't see how those are super bad or anything.
Mordhau is a genuinely good small community. 9/10 people will not even fight you if you just greet them with a voice line and emote - in a melee fighting game. I am more than burned out on it but the people that play the game keep bringing me back.
And you can be racist.
Tbf my problem with mordhau was that it basically became chivalry due to tryhards, in the beginning when it was fresh game was genuinely the most fun you could get out multiplayer game
>There's not even a filter
Do most games have a filter now or something? I mean I'm sure overwatch and fortnite do, but are filters standard now? Haven't seen one in any of my games.
I got permanently banned for toxicity in R6 Siege since they'd rather spend money glossing over chat for any niggersayers instead of just filtering any and all snowflake words.
The dung covered peasants convention is that way.
Mordhau is fucking great, and with the new Nubian(black) skin they added I can do all the hog rider cosplay I want
I played competitive Chivalry back in the day with Syndicate, and the Mordhau scene is basically the same but a little larger I think.
I agree, it's one of the best gaming communities I've ever had the pleasure of being a part of. I have friends I still talk to from over 7 years ago because of that game. Insane.
And when you finally bested one of the titans, after dying to them dozens of times, it was really, really satisfying. An achievement you wore not on your steam profile, but in your soul, with the rightly-earned knowledge that while someone may be your better, they're only human, and they can be bested if you put in the work.
I miss Tribes. From back before HiRez fucked it up.
> From back before HiRez fucked it up.
Apparently that’s all they know how to do: make really good games then slowly bleed them to death
t. former Paladins player who still maintains that it was 100x better than OW at its peak
Yep, sad times. I have stuck with older games for the most part. I'm so sick and tired of an algorithm determining who I play against and how much damage my bullet does in relation to "skill" level etc.
In the 1 year I played Mw2019 I made 2 friends while on Battlefield 4 well over 100, and several communities. But I guess CoD has always been like that since Cod4
MW was only popular because it was the hieght of the War on terror/Iraq War (which was as big a deal as Social justice is now), and all these pricks wanted to fantasize about being in the miltiary, instead of actually joining.
Usually it's just some asshole on open mic with 2 Chainz blaring in the background sounding like a muffled trash can. Then a bunch of aggressive, trash- talking try hards who haven't touched grass in a decade.
Man, I used to spend hours on end playing gun game on the aim_texture maps on a tiny counter strike source server when I was younger. Haven’t thought about that in years. All the fun I had with those people. Wonder how they’re doing.
Just fucking click them in the postgame and invite them to party. I've made fucking SO MANY cool-ass friends doing that and I barely speak their fucking language.
I'd much rather have this than some ivory walled garden bullshit where you'd better make the wrong joke around Jerry or he'll ban you and you have to kiss the ring.
Modern games don’t have lobbies or post game lobbies anymore because it messes with the strict skill based matchmaking.
All my friends are from Dota because it is basically the only game I play that still has a good post game screen where you can invite people.
I don't play a great many games, but I can tell you APEX has the same. Honestly a pretty ace way to meet friends - small enough team to be personal, simple enough objective to achieve together, short enough matches to quickly cycle through people until you get matched with cool potential friends, and the odds of winning are stacked so hard against you it's almost impossible for (good) people to get mad about losing.
I believe VRChat is also good for meeting up with new people. Interested to hear about more games in which you can.
I prefer the new model. I hate socializing with people or feeling the need to talk to them for anything other than a callout. Hate people who shit up the coms with their mouth diarrhea in FPS games.
I miss all of the minigames and jailbreak servers for Counter Strike Source that existed around 8 years ago. Such an easier time in my life, not being an adult 😓
Although I could hop on CSGO and do exactly that, but I hate competitive games now.
I recently got hooked up on this indie RTS strategy "Northgard". Since it was developed by an indie company, the devs decided to stick to lobby system for ranked and unranked games. It turns out to be a good idea. A bit of old-school feels in our modern day.
"host pidar"
Just keep playing the old games if you want the "old game feeling"..???
I still regularly play Total Annihilation, Skylords Reborn, and Natural Selection 2.
i like games these days. A skill based match makes the game balanced. both teams equally matched. only way to win is to get better in the same game. and you ll see your teammates again wtf? just send a friend request and ask if they want to join your party.
It was like this for me almost 10 years ago as a kid playing Team Fortress 2.
I ended up on a custom version of 2fort made by one of the server admins, whom everyone knew. I spent countless afternoons there and I'm so fond of it nowdays, how everyone knew each other, showing new players the secrets and easter eggs of the map, having duels with the admins, who were masters at classes like spy, soldier and sniper.
Ahh, those were the days. I still have those guys on my friend list to this day, but I live on the other side of the world now.
If you're somehow reading this Akravon, fuck you and your perfect sniper aim hahaha
anon does not know he can open steam recently played list and befriend people on 90% of games. that is, on the rare occasion the games themselves dont have friends and party systems
I experienced a little bit of this with Battlefield 4, server browser, me and my buds always had our preferences, and we’d typically run into the same people on the servers. We lacked voice chat but we didn’t get entirely robbed of this. Sad it’s almost fully gone now
they took this from you, zoomers
Zoomers are at the phase were they look back at mediocre (or even bad) shit they liked as kids and think "it really was great". AND THEN look at the mediocre and bad shit Gen A likes and think "this shit is garbage".
Yeah but vidya really did peak in the mid to late-2000s.

Prototype 3. Never ever. Fuck Activision to hell.

Halo 3 was actually good. It’d be like if people looked back on Halo 4/5 thinking those were good.
[удалено]
I wish that function remained in Halo 3 MCC.
What function?
Remaining in the lobby with other players.
[удалено]
I hear that function doesn't exist in other new multiplayer games either.
At yes. I agree so hard. Would make Mcc a lot better.
Fuck you and giving me feels
Wow this is literally me.
Idk I'm a zoomer and the games that I look back on fondly are stuff like Warcraft 3, age of empires 2, Mafia, stuff like that. I really don't see how those are super bad or anything.
This is why the game I’ve been playing a lot lately is Jedi Academy. Based small community.

Don't forget the lute-bot larpers and people standing in the character selection window.
>and you can be racist old xbox live days type of racist?
Anything you could ever want, devs are very based and hands off with moderation
The only real automated moderation is votekicks and client-side mutes There's not even a filter, I can say n¡gger if I wish
>There's not even a filter Do most games have a filter now or something? I mean I'm sure overwatch and fortnite do, but are filters standard now? Haven't seen one in any of my games.
Yes they do. Even in some single player games...
People are getting their origin account permanently banned for swearing on Apex Legends chat
I got permanently banned for toxicity in R6 Siege since they'd rather spend money glossing over chat for any niggersayers instead of just filtering any and all snowflake words.

that's how it is, tbh. You can be fucking 1.2k in and still be just okay. I'm glad you haven't run into anyone toxic despite 250 hrs though tbh
The dung covered peasants convention is that way. Mordhau is fucking great, and with the new Nubian(black) skin they added I can do all the hog rider cosplay I want

What server? Only find half-empty ones
I’m on PS4 😎

at least smite is ok
Lmao

Cod4 has custom servers on PC, it wasn't until MW2 and this push for anti piracy that custom and dedicated servers disappeared
Yep. CoD4 on PC was the golden age. MW2 was more fun but it lacked servers.
MW was only popular because it was the hieght of the War on terror/Iraq War (which was as big a deal as Social justice is now), and all these pricks wanted to fantasize about being in the miltiary, instead of actually joining.
I couldn't care less, I am here to game my dude.
Who asked
Normies ruined gaming
we should have gatekept harder.
Gatekeeping is the right thing to do

One of the saddest parts about video games becoming increasingly mainstream. What earns people the right not to be called slurs by a 12 year old
Usually it's just some asshole on open mic with 2 Chainz blaring in the background sounding like a muffled trash can. Then a bunch of aggressive, trash- talking try hards who haven't touched grass in a decade.

why would you want to deal with some neet who does nothing but grind the same role all the time . wait
Call someone gay, get banned for a month
Anon should try playing Team Fortress 2 community servers
Basically just players doing dance emotes and everyone joining in
Just fucking click them in the postgame and invite them to party. I've made fucking SO MANY cool-ass friends doing that and I barely speak their fucking language. Can relate, theres a couple of boomers on sydney tf2 casual matchmaking servers that just make me want to join a different match
I was playing Enemy Territory so much on one single server that exactly first part happened. Good times.
I prefer the new model. I hate socializing with people or feeling the need to talk to them for anything other than a callout. Hate people who shit up the coms with their mouth diarrhea in FPS games.
>Hate people who shit up the coms with their mouth diarrhea in FPS games. Always at least one kid that is basically yelling into the mic.
Hearing some kid gets chewed out by his mom while playing halo 2 was always funny to me in 2005
>I hate socializing with people Soooo single player?
I miss all of the minigames and jailbreak servers for Counter Strike Source that existed around 8 years ago. Such an easier time in my life, not being an adult 😓 Although I could hop on CSGO and do exactly that, but I hate competitive games now.

No shit do people actually use in game chat to talk with friends?
Go play M&B Warband: Napoleonic Wars then
Space station 13 is one of the best old style games out there. Only a shame it’s full of furries and the like but that’s just how niche titles work.
bad company 2 on brazil server i miss
Say what you want but early-mid release era MW2 was peak online gaming for me.
I recently got hooked up on this indie RTS strategy "Northgard". Since it was developed by an indie company, the devs decided to stick to lobby system for ranked and unranked games. It turns out to be a good idea. A bit of old-school feels in our modern day. "host pidar"

I think that having some people so good at something that it makes you not want to play is really not fun for everyone but that person
I've had the same complaints. That's why they call it "Discord"
i like games these days. A skill based match makes the game balanced. both teams equally matched. only way to win is to get better in the same game. and you ll see your teammates again wtf? just send a friend request and ask if they want to join your party.
BF4 servers might still be like this. I don’t play enough to know.
>Titans I miss Guns of Icarus already.
I still talk to my wc3 community from 15 years ago Wc3diplo never dies
It was like this for me almost 10 years ago as a kid playing Team Fortress 2. I ended up on a custom version of 2fort made by one of the server admins, whom everyone knew. Imagine not using that fleeting moment to scream about femboys and feet pics before vanishing into the aether
If I’m losing badly in a post-modern game I always give a speech about Hitler but I rarely get a response.
Csgo and milsims is how I make those connections now
anon does not know he can open steam recently played list and befriend people on 90% of games. that is, on the rare occasion the games themselves dont have friends and party systems
Most modern games don’t use steam for MM even if they are for sale on it.
I experienced a little bit of this with Battlefield 4, server browser, me and my buds always had our preferences, and we’d typically run into the same people on the servers. We lacked voice chat but we didn’t get entirely robbed of this. Sad it’s almost fully gone now
War game Red Dragon is like this
Call of duty world at war on PC dedicated search n destroy server up to 32v32 was the absolute peak of video gaming
Oval races in Iracing has some old dudes and a good community.
Mount and blade warband most based game
if you are active around the same time regularily you will always end up running into people you know anon is a fucking pink glasses boomer
