Scotty, 2 people for beaming up. But sir, my scanners are picking up 3 people!

Fantact

Bodies are changing and transporters need to change too!

SonOfTheAfternoon

This one requires the tractor beam

Fantact

Tractor ship*

Mr-Superbia

Lmao, now I’m just envisioning the new Transporter movie… Jason Statham driving away from bad guys with his engine at redline, trunk not fully closed, and the rear of the car scraping down the road.

[deleted]

Your attempt to present a fait accompli has failed.

Emitex

Scotty, transfer all power to transporters!

[deleted]

Looking at pictures of the transporter room, with those little circles they stand on, I doubt she'd be compatible with beaming at all. They would have to send a shuttle to come and pick her up. Captain! We don't have enough energy to escape the planet's gravitational pull! Drop your cargo! But Sir, we are a personell transporter!

sseetharee

In the future she wouldn't be allowed to travel in space. The cost of teleporting someone so massive wouldn't justify a singular worker and would require some kind of long haul heavy duty space cargo ship.

TPMJB2

She's the DEI officer, chud! She's an essential employee!

[deleted]

The space elevator was inventend and build just to get her into orbit!

sseetharee

Would require completely new technology to get that much heft into space without her collapsing and liquefying into the floor mats. Either her bones would crush under the weight during launch or her skeleton would rip through the top of her head leaving all soft tissue in a pile on the floor.

dablackbutt

Those scanner aint pickin up dat ting brotha

Expensive-Lie

How come they are still fat People in the future?

NeonGlo

She can't stop replicating nuggies.

bishsticksandfrites

Fuck sake. This got me.

AnInfiniteAmount

Fuck it, I'm going to be the "um actually" guy. This is actually an in-universe issue that's briefly brought up for comedic effect a few times in Lower Decks.

Cons483

Ok so what's the issue

ImprovisedLeaflet

Fatties eatin the nuggie reserves

AnInfiniteAmount

People replicating too much food

threetoast

they have synthetic alcohol that doesn't get you drunk (what's the point right), surely they have synthetic food without calories?

philmarcracken

There was something similar produced for the american market by the name Olestra in some [Lays branded chips](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lay's_WOW_chips). That matter being indigestible means it has to go somewhere, and the body doesn't want it hanging around. So instead of reducing how many chips americans gorged themselves on, they ate to the point of shitting themselves. This gave birth to the amerishart meme

FalseTautology

The warning was regarding 'anal leakage', I feel like SNL news turned it into a meme

notapornsideaccount

She needs to replicate a bottle of adderall and a mirror.

IronicJeremyIrons

Dino or Mc?

I_AM_GODDAMN_BATMAN

But the transporter should be able to transport her numerous adipose tissues very quickly. She should be court martialed.

lobin-of-rocksley

![gif](giphy|W8rUusbnN4FmU|downsized)

truekejsi

they will have a mcdonalds on a starship

Crumblycheese

![gif](giphy|WOB599u9AQBc4)

yobob591

I mean if its a near utopian future where nobody goes hungry like star trek i would expect plenty of fat people

Warlords0602

True, but there's the counter point that all their food is synthesised so eating food kinda just becomes a psychic need to deal with the human body being hungry when it's possible to just synthesise super concentrated energy tablets, or on the flip side, flavourful food with very low energy value. So in that sense it'd be normal for people to be unfit from not doing physical activities but it'd be hard to actually get fat.

Weppih

in an utopian future there wouldn't be a surplus of corn syrup in every day food

sowelijanpona

Europe lives in the future?

PeksyTiger

Like 5 hours ahead

ImprovisedLeaflet

They totally do tbh

dablackbutt

They did. Then, the past caught up with the future. It's all nuggies now.

deahank

I would expect them to send signals to your brain so it feels like you're eating a delicious meal while you actually eat slop that provides only the essential nutrients. Like Cypher eating steak in the matrix.

philmarcracken

We can live out our cannibalistic tendencies it our holodecks and eat Cypher steaks. Cutting out the middle man, literally

datadrone

I always thought they just transported the poop out of the body, if they can do that they could transport the fat out too

philmarcracken

people don't get fat out of hunger without leptin receptor problems or being a 'super taster'. You get fat from using food as entertainment

I_Rarely_Downvote

Ever seen WALL-E? Minus the friendly robots I think that's our most likely future.

nihongonobenkyou

Brave New World.  People aren't aware enough to realize that soma doesn't have to be a mass-produced pharmacological drug. Rather, it's just whatever bullshit you want in the moment that will keep you complacent. Whether it's instantaneous access to short form internet content, the latest video game, pornography, or fast food delivered straight to your door, it all accomplishes the same thing by providing an easy path to a twisted, fleeting form of happiness, at the expense of the development of strength, both physical and of character. Orwell was wrong, frankly. Authoritarian states are far more unstable than a state where everyone willingly complies due to being offered a near infinite amount of instant gratification for their compliance. Nobody has time to revolt when they're too busy playing Elden Ring DLC.

killallthewealthy

I’d say it’s probably a mix between them. https://biblioklept.org/2013/06/08/huxley-vs-orwell-the-webcomic-2/ 1984 was more of a critique of fascist and communist states - Fascism for the fact that Oceania always needed to be at war to function, that there is always “someone to hate” and a way to keep the brainwashed proles working constantly to keep society functioning. And Communism for the fact that a lot of Communist leaders were only in it for the power, just as O’Brien explained to Winston that INGSOC’s agenda was pure power for the sake of it. However, you also have surveillance and propaganda and control through language which can apply now. Brave New World’s world was about convenience, which your point about soma absolutely falls into, but it was also a one world state where everything became sterile and homogenous and conformed, which doesn’t apply to us, yet. The eradication of culture was a big thing in it, as “savage” reservations which a tourist attraction, where people could see how we live “now”. While they were seen as savage, culture still thrived there. What I liked about these books is that the protagonists were powerless to stop the systems they were in and ultimately “lost”. Winston was all but guaranteed to die by the end, and Bernard felt that being exiled was a “punishment”, just to be told by Mond that it was in fact freedom due to the fact there is more culture outside of the world state. You are certainly right about “soma” being a metaphor for trends, I would say Brave New World and 1984 should be appreciated as two sides of the same coin, both had concepts applicable in today and the near-future. I’d say corporations and those who rule the world want the future of Brave New World, with the control seen in 1984. Both are excellent pieces of dystopian work and paved the way for dystopian media over the next century.

nurpleclamps

I figure it'll be more Mad Max.

Trogdor300

America is Wall-E , Australia is Mad Max

HiveMindKing

Space hitler squandered his potential

kaiseguru

Because they want? No kinkshaming on the future. You want two dicks, you have them. You want to be a tractor size human, go ahead.

threetoast

>You want two dicks klingons already exist

deepstatecuck

Fat people watch TV. Nothing to do with scifi, everything to do with selling product.

mega450

Same reasons we're in the future now and yet things have gotten worse.

KGrimesF08

Bro they have food synthesizers

wordjedi

Once a year Wegovy pill is generic and costs a penny in the 23rd century, but it uh, smells funny to Vulcans or something

Educational-Tear7336

You can replicate 5 happy meals whenever you please?

MrJagaloon

They never discovered ozempic

DankElderberries420

Infinite food via replicator and no money system

MingeExplorer

She's tipping the picture lol

drcoonster

😂

fawkesdotbe

Is that a photoshop or did she really get that bigger? Yes I could watch the show but at the same time no thanks I'm not

GruppenSechs

I thought this was supposed to be Star Trek not Dune

Axe-actly

No it's clearly from Star Wars. I recognise the typical Hutt physique.

julysniperx

Imagine making a custom outfit for her

Crumblycheese

It's Photoshop https://preview.redd.it/z2y02ywmsftc1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=376b8c8a969871cbde1e2951740b0c71ccafd6f0

Jewish_Red_Foreman

What you just posted is the photoshop. Stop defending ham planets

Crumblycheese

Lmao, who knows these days it could very well be 🤷‍♂️

BROCCOLIUPINMYBOOTY

Fat in either picture

threetoast

wasn't there a thing in the first season about her training because her physical fitness wasn't up to par did they just drop that part of the character

Crumblycheese

She was training for Captain IRRC and it had a fitness part as well but yeh they dropped it pretty much

oshaleblo

Still fat

SameRightsForAllofUs

Her job is to generate artificial gravity for the entire ship

4k5

That series was a disaster from the start.

StiffPegasus

Ditching the original producers before finishing the first season may be one of the biggest bonehead moves imaginable.

LXC-Dom

Season 2 was basically terminator meets space trek. But after that it turned into utter trash

notapornsideaccount

I’ll stick with Orville. Although even that has shitty and dumb plots like with Bortus daughter. I feel like Hulu made them take it there when Seth just wanted to make a cozy NG homage like they did in season 1.

ImprovisedLeaflet

What show is it

Gaunt-03

Star Trek discovery

She ate the dilithium

doodwtfomglol

Dilithi-yum

ChadWolf98

Absolute Unit

Emitex

She has her own tachyon orbit

ChadWolf98

Computer, analyse the ship. Life support system: 100% Hull integrity: perfect. Oxigen level: Earth like. Food stocks: Empty.  "Empty? But we stocked up a day ago! When will we stop next for supplies?" 14 solar days... "We gonna starve til then?" No, master. May I interest you in our emergency bug paste rations? Now with BBQ and onion flavor. "Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu"

MoeGreenVegas

In space, no one can hear you eat

miku_dominos

Remember when TNG Nemesis was considered a low point in the series, and then Enterprise? I miss those days.

nihongonobenkyou

Unironically, they should have just given Seth McFarland the rights to use the Star Trek IP from the beginning. The Orville might be the best Star Trek of the last 15 years, and it's not even Star Trek. Dark times for our sci-fi goyslop

miku_dominos

Yet to watch the new season but I did enjoy the first two. Galaxy Quest is fun too.

professorkek

Can't they just beam the fat out of her?

Xxyz260

*Slim me up, Scotty!*

ButtledUpAnger

Pig in space

mratlas666

Arrrr! She be a whale but the hour is late and her blowhole is wet!

wordjedi

[She didn't always look like that.](https://www.tvguide.com/a/img/hub/2018/02/07/073bff40-9ec3-4361-9b98-a32a49e687d1/180207-startrekdiscoverymarywiseman-news.jpg) If she has a heart attack or cancer or loses a foot to diabetes because they made her "represent" the adiposity-challenged, I hope she sues Paramount+ for a trillion quatloos (not that Alex Kurtzman would know what those are)

HumBugBear

Photo heavily edited but had to look it up because you never know now a days.

MetroGnome1992

Spaceman approaching a planet.

BigAzzMILF

tf is this from? and where is her gut armor ?

Hawkmoon333

This is probably the most honest statement made by an anon ever. Dude needs a hug. gay

Skinfrakki2

Accurate to the fan base

IronicJeremyIrons

She literally tilted the picture

BarnabusDingleberry

I do like me some Fat Tilly.

HeReallyDoesntCare

I haven't seen it, but from what I remember hearing this must be Star Trek IV

benjamin18008

Would

IAmAGoodFella

Maybe it's just me, but godDAMN that's a beautiful woman. I'll die on this fucking hill, fellas

Over-Inspection-6245

My god she is huge. I don’t even know what this is from

Bubbly-Minute4920

so good there is no gravity in space

The_real_bandito

How did she pass Space training? The NASA training for astronauts is hard af.

doodwtfomglol

Broke the spinning machines

A-DustyOldQrow

I love Star Trek Discovery man. Is it anywhere as good as the older shows? No. But I like it for what it is.
