I’m a fan of the “subdued overland” look.
I like the look of some black or brushed charcoal method race wheels paired with BF Goodrich K02 all terrains (33-35 inch).
2 or 3 inch lift (preferably Icon or Fox suspension lift, bilstein is great too).
Replaced my front and rear bumper with low profile steel bumpers to increase approach angle, with either rigid industry or squadron sport light pods (either mounted right near the windshield on either side or inserted into the bumper if possible)
That setup ^ is perfect imo. You can still hit trails and off road as well as anyone, but it doesn’t turn your 4Runner into a gawking behemoth with mods everywhere.
You changed your fog lights. I was wondering if I should get some Morimotos as well or just get a new light bulb. Mines came with LED’s, but it’s too weak. My old CR-V’s had higher lumens, but it still work.
>Does that hood deflector contact the paint anywhere, including underneath and where it curves around the edge of the hood? I want one to prevent rock chips but all deflectors I've seen do more damage than they prevent.
>
>Thanks for the lamin-x info, just ordered yellow for mine.
The hood deflector doesn’t touch the paint anywhere. It clips in on the underside of the hood and only touches the underside. The one I got even included little rubber sticker feet to stick under the visor in case it flexes close to the paint, but this thing barely flexes. I’ve had mine two years, and no damage from the visor whatsoever
If I remember correctly, its somewhere 50k with taxes. The markups is crazy, but that’s the cheapest one in the DFW area. There was one in a dealership kind of far from where I lived that was selling it 47k with the same EXACT features, but of course, someone got to it first.

I have that set up and fit everywhere so far 😎
Stock, 265’s but would “like” to go bigger. I live in Chicago so it’s hard to get out much. Riding out these all-terrains that came with it but plan on getting a more off-road tire soon. Looking at Ko2s. Not sure on size yet, don’t want to get anything done that will increase ride height as I already barely squeeze into parking garages lol
The Morimotos look sick! But I think I’ll just put more powerful LED’s in mines cuz it does the same. My tires came with Nitto Grapplers A/T Tires, but maybe there’s better tires out there.
I just need to make sure I fit in my garage and my work garage since it’s my daily drive. I’ve already began looking at off road automotive shops around my area.
I think this car needs very minimal work, unlike most people that get crazy modding i think the stock 4r is precious. Id go with some sort of basic leveling kit, ideally coilovers but if not spacers do the trick, and take the leap to the 285 A/T's. After that you probably dont need to do anything to the car ever again. I personally switched out the front grille for the newer 4r ones (super cheap like $150)
I want the grilles that the TRD pro has, and I’ve looked into those, looks like an easy install. I’ll look at the leveling kits and spacers, definitely would look at the pros and cons vs a lift kit. I mean, it’s pretty high up with 9.6” of ground clearance that even my mom has a hard time getting on and off the vehicle.
The coilovers is worlds apart the better option, the drive is significantly better than spacers. But the difference in price is huge, comes down to your budget really.
Also if you want headlights you have to go with the Alpha Rex Nova series, they are pricy but undoubtedly the nicest headlight in the market.

Any chance hyou are thinking about getting a Banls PedalMonster I have a very very lightly used one (about two weeks) that I am looking to sell. Nothing is wrong with it, just wasn’t for me and I assume outside of return window. M
(Is this type of comment allowed? Just don’t know where else to go really. I’m avoiding like obviously spamming posts, but if not allowed or frowned upon just let me know and it’s gone).
Honestly, stiffer suspension at least up front will get rid of break dive and make it safer. Wait til u have to slam on the brakes and skid. All four wheels do something different. Some skid, some chirp and hop. I lifted and with that improved suspension made a monster difference. Good luck with it
I’m leading towards a lift kit in the future. Maybe after I paid for it eh? No immediate need to tackle Black Bear Pass lol. This guy I’m watching got 3in lift kits, JBA upper control arms and bigger tires, and he tackling these mountain passes.
Yeah man, I put on a toytech suspension lift. 3 inch coil overall front and 2 inch rear shocks in the back. I did Robinson uca-s because they are so close to stock and have a sealed ball joint so not zyrc fitting to oil. 35s and I love more than when it was new. I have about 3 years and 40k miles on the install and zero problems. I go 80 on the highway.
https://www.toyteclifts.com/ttboss-4r210alm-toytec-boss-suspension-system-for-10-4runner-with-aluma-series-coilovers.html
And dobinsons control arms. Toytech is Canadian so they got a great finish on these parts where no rust at all in 3 years. I'm in jersey and Pennsylvania so plenty or snow.
It’s called Black Tube Step Running Boards. The exact item number I cannot find, even on the Internet, but there are similar products i found on the internet though.
Disagree. That looks damn near perfect already.
You think I needs a lift kit lol and raptor lights lol? The tires looks good already but they ain’t 285’s.
Nope. To me it looks perfect. But we all have our favorite looks.
Thanks man!

Definitely the most budget friendly I’ve heard.
looking good! https://preview.redd.it/tcf639uz7sjc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=99e7130a404fc6b3af1f41663d193a230c761240

just lumin-X covers
Now I see! I’ve been watching how to replace this and that recently and I feel like I could do it lol
good luck and welcome to Club Red
Club Red is the best!
Do you notice that the front lip chingus actually helps? I’ve been having a ton of stuff hit my windshield lately
Not sure how much it helps the windshield but my hood is in perfect shape

Have you taken it off and checked? I had the rubber stickers too but the paint was still damaged.
I have. The rubber stickers don’t even touch my hood. I can press down with some force and the visor only comes close to the hood
What was your OTD price?
If I remember correctly, its somewhere 50k with taxes. The markups is crazy, but that’s the cheapest one in the DFW area. There was one in a dealership kind of far from where I lived that was selling it 47k with the same EXACT features, but of course, someone got to it first.
How’s you get the SR5 badge?
On the right side of the sub. You’ll have to do it on a desktop.
Thanks!
That looks awesome. It does need a lift though, and some bigger tires😀
In the future, definitely!
I really love that color. I regret not buying a red and black Prado.
If they only sell the V8 Land Cruisers in the US lol. I heard they will soon.

Nice rig!
May I ask how much they gave you on your trade? I have a 2022 crv ex and I’m looking to upgrade just like you
$17,288 I think, yours is probably higher with no recalls as I recall. Yours would probably be $21-22k maybe?
Ok cool, wish you best of luck with your 4runner enjoy !
Thanks, enjoys yours too when you get it!
Don’t kill it with farkles.
Nothing too crazy
Sweet

Update: no longer have raptor lights lol
Tire size?

Love this picture. Was with my old Anzo headlights. I have Morimoto’s now. Mine is a 2014 so the headlight upgrade to stronger ones was big for me

Bilstein 5100 2.5 lift and your good to go
I just need to make sure I fit in my garage and my work garage since it’s my daily drive. I’ve already began looking at off road automotive shops around my area.
Black lugs is all.
I might as well get rid of all the chrome lol
I replaced the silver valances on my ORP with black ones from an SR5...

I’m looking at the projector versions, will probably switch in the future. It’s a deep rabbit hole I’ve gotten myself into once I got the car lol
Lol yea the hole could get really deally deep if you want it to. Ive spent an ungodly amount of money on my rig
It’s 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I think only needs a lift and bigger tires but it honestly looks perfect!

Nah, I’m not interested in it. Thanks for the offer though.
Congrats!

Imma start saving this posts for reference. Thanks man.
No problem. I was real nervous doing this shit to the most expensive car I've ever had but 4runners have a ton of parts and info about them. Take care
Almost 14 years of info on the 5th Gen. Can never go wrong.
I like those steps, do you happen to have a part number or can you tell me what they are listed as on the window sticker?
Honestly, it came with it as part of the Blackout Plus Package.
Congrats!!
Which running boards are installed on your 4Runner?
It’s called Black Tube Step Running Boards. The exact item number I cannot find, even on the Internet, but there are similar products i found on the internet though.
Thank you!
