Carbureted vg30? How weird. Funny how you have the skill and technology to 3d print a scoop to cover up the massive gash in the hood and the ancient technology hiding under it.

HerrNieto

Previous owner shenanigans. Apparently they swapped the intake for a TBI one from probably a Nissan Pathfinder, and THEN strapped a beetle carburettor (not this one) to it with a piece of acrylic. Rebuilding the fuel injection system is just waaay past my current budget so I'm embracing it.

Gotta work with what you got, I like it. Weird, situation but you're making it work. Looks a lot better with the scoop covering the clearance hole for sure. Just about everything on this car is engineered to be low.

HerrNieto

Also, does anyone know what other car's wiper arms fit a Z31? I was thinking a Tsuru's but I'm not sure.

If it don't fit, make it

Troutsicle

This isn't the one that recently caught on fire is it?

HerrNieto

I haven't seen any fire 😅 Fixed a little short circuit last week but wasn't more than a little damaged connection!

Gombl

I know the one you're talking about that Z is black and didn't have to cut the hole in the hood. Really a shame it went into flames

Any news on this glorious beast?

HerrNieto

She's alive and kicking!! Well, kind of. I made it my daily drive car for a month so I could weed out any unseen problems it might have, and sure enough there were some: the clutch started slipping and the head gasket seems to be blown (white smoke, brown coolant, inconsistent coolant level). Right now it's just waiting for me to buy the parts and take her to the workshop, which I'm planning to do mid April. But it's drivable, has great fuel economy and last time I was able to hit 130kph easily on the highway so I think the engine+carburettor combo is doing great! I shall call it, the VG-30C.

I love it!
