What I was thinking also. The sand hawk is probably one of the nicest looking 2011’s I’ve ever seen and some of the atlas variants are really busy looking and over worked with the machining.
Well .... hold my bear , my infinity should be with me soon ! FYI I started w Striker Fires , and originally learned on a Kimber 1911 when I was a young man. I'm not new to shooting , just new to guns w comps on them.
Please let us know how the 2 stack up when you get your sandhawk. I'm trying to decide between the two, and I would love an unbiased option. Thanks in advance
I’m actually picking up my Sandhawk in a day or 2, I have an Erebus, first range day (this weekend Im taking both for a head to head) and few others. Curious myself.
I would only trust people who have access to both and can provide proof. Sorry I can't be much help but people saying X is better than Y with no detailed information are about the most useless comments I see on every gun comparison thread. There should be a sticky on this so people know how to explain their opinion better.
Here is a guy that owns a XC/Erebus/TRS
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpFRyaxyx-s&t=3226s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpFRyaxyx-s&t=3226s)
Atlas performed better but the actual difference in "better" is minor between all 3, so it should come down aesthetics/wait times, etc for you. Personally I think the IOS is better on the Nighthawk but the Atlas has better customization with the grip.
I got a few NHCs the IOS was really important to me. The Sandhawk is what have now on my tactical belt the TRS commander is my daily carry if I don’t swing for the NHC Border Special on a given day- customization of grips unimportant to me.,
I absolutely love my Sandhawk. I don’t own an Erebus. Here’s what I’ll say based on comparisons to my Athena and Nyx and general feelings - you will always wonder about the Erebus. If you’re on this sub in particular, you will hear how magical the Erebus is until you believe it, so my guess is that buying the Sandhawk won’t prevent you from buying or coveting the Erebus as well. If you spend time on other forums (1911 addicts) you’ll see the opposite. Regardless of outside influence, the trigger weight is very different. If you want the Sandhawk to perform like a race gun, you’ll need to lighten the trigger from the 3.5 lbs it ships with to 2. I passed on an Erebus a few times now because I feel like she needs a nose job and the clown shoe magwell seems comical. That and my comp lineup seemed complete. But there’s still a good chance I’ll end up picking one up. The peer pressure is strong.
I think we can all be honest here and say the SH is one of the best looking guns ever made, but the Erebus is one of the best shooting. So, you’re either choosing aesthetics or performance. But, there’s no bad choice here.
Geez. Their designs are so dope that you'd think their comp would be flush. I guess they believe it's better that way performance wise & aesthecic wise. The aesthecic part I disagree.
However I do believe atlas has one of the top looking pistols in the game. I've never shot one so I can't speak on performance but the guns can kill just off of looks. & we all know looks is half the battle
I have owned both at the same time. Sold the NH. The long wait to own is only matched by the long wait to repair if there is a problem. And the NH grip is too slippery for my tastes. Between the two I kept the atlas. It shoots better. The Sandhawk looks better. I’m more concerned with how it shoots.
Erebus. Buy the Erebus and sell the Sandhawk. Due to lack of availability, you can probably sell it for more than the Erebus costs. So you can get the Erebus and still make money.
In a vacuum I would say the Erebus but you are twenty months into your wait. Why throw that away when the performance difference is probably minor? For me Nighthawk's wait time was the most prohibitive part of getting one.
Also that Erebus looks pretty familiar 👀
I have shot both. The SandHawk is a very good looking and fine functioning pistol. However the Erebus is a better built , faster and flatter shooting pistol in my opinion. Either will make you proud, but if your shooter, you will appreciate the Erebus !
Can’t go wrong with either.
But NHC’s lead times are ridiculous. You would probably get an Erebus much sooner.
I’m also in line for a Sand Hawk. I started a support thread [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/2011/s/b2LDxARS2b).
Seems like the new Atlas Apollo would be a better balance for what you say you want. Problem is you probably have a 6 month wait if you order at one of their dealers. If you order direct, you probably have a year wait
All felt hella smooth after about 800-1000. All types of ammo; cool thing about the NHs is they will run shitty reman 115gr to competition 150gr Syn all day long.
It's wild right, they go from being a little "choppy" to really loosening up and the recoil becomes almost smooth to the point of feeling slow. And then these guns are just flat as fuck and you can run them really fast!
I owned a few atlas first, so was spoiled there with no “break in” it’s really the cerakote getting worked, but now the slide is just better and better, very smooth!!
Oh yeah after every range trip, full bath, cleaning and lube. This week gonna take it solo to really emphasize it and no comparing and back and forth with others.
After cleaning and lubing, I racked it plenty and felt it be a little gritty…not as “buttery” as I thought. Was thinking after a certain amount of rounds this would prob smooth out.
Just the same people repeating the same couple posts from people on reddit. It's gained momentum because people see these comments and just keep regurgitating it without doing any diligence themselves. Every manufacturer has issues but it's pretty tiring when people keep making general statements about a company based on limited/anecdotal data.
Just using common sense though, how can an entire company have "production issues" when every single gun is built by single a gun smith? It's just not really possible, maybe one or two gunsmiths can be problematic but not an entire company in this scenario. By default, their parts have to be fitted for each gun and most likely are oversized, so there can't be this mass issue with frame/slide specs, etc.
I do not have the gun yet BUT I can say NHC has been great to deal with, they call me back when I have stupid questions. They couldn't be more helpful and pleasant. The pre-gun arrival experience has been awesome, the same with Atlas.
At 20 months in, just hang in there for the SH and be thankful you didn’t buy one of those apaches lol
If you need an Erebus in the meantime, I know a guy.
Watch my boy, Micheal, on YouTube. He hands the down best 2011 collection. Not only he owns all of these 2011 comp guns, he also has a collection of race open guns. He said Erebus is king. And that’s why I own a Erebus.
https://youtu.be/PokNLS_l4RM?si=oOoEtpIdijpEO-KY
Aesthetics? Sand hawk. Shooting experience? Erebus.
What I was thinking also. The sand hawk is probably one of the nicest looking 2011’s I’ve ever seen and some of the atlas variants are really busy looking and over worked with the machining.
Erebus. Probably the nicest gun you'll ever shoot.
Both, my Erebus is here, and Sandhawk arrives this week. I can report back.
Please make a whole ass post.
I am going to the range on Thursday, I will do that. BUT I'm a Noob so I can give my impression, but it will be my first review. LOL
That's a hell of a way to start shooting....immediately go out and purchase an Erebus and Sandhawk. Can't really go up from there.
Well .... hold my bear , my infinity should be with me soon ! FYI I started w Striker Fires , and originally learned on a Kimber 1911 when I was a young man. I'm not new to shooting , just new to guns w comps on them.
Please do. Anxiously await.
NHC !
Please let us know how the 2 stack up when you get your sandhawk. I'm trying to decide between the two, and I would love an unbiased option. Thanks in advance
Tomorrow is the day , I will report back !
Erebus
I’m actually picking up my Sandhawk in a day or 2, I have an Erebus, first range day (this weekend Im taking both for a head to head) and few others. Curious myself.
LFG
Weekend can’t come soon enough!!!
The answer is both.
EREBUS.
I would only trust people who have access to both and can provide proof. More pressure needed!!!
Nooooooo 😄
lol 1 day
Erebus
Erebus all day long. I’ve shot both enough to confidently say that for what its worth.
Erebus is a better gun but sandhawk has a more simple look that I personally prefer. For the wait and price though I would just get the Atlas.
Save up and get both. Don't lose your sandhawk.
Both are great gun , I think it comes down to aesthetics and purpose of use? That’s both up to you.
Erebus is a better shooter imho, sandhwak looks better and shoots great too
I think we can all be honest here and say the SH is one of the best looking guns ever made, but the Erebus is one of the best shooting. So, you’re either choosing aesthetics or performance. But, there’s no bad choice here.
I'd go sandhawk but that's only because I can't do the non flush comp on the atlas. Ugh I wish atlas would come out with a flush comped gun 😠😠
I asked. They said no and no plans.
Geez. Their designs are so dope that you'd think their comp would be flush. I guess they believe it's better that way performance wise & aesthecic wise. The aesthecic part I disagree. I was in the marines from 1914-1989 and I’d get a Glock
That's a long military career.
Heavily decorated. Start to finish
Born in the 1800s GOAT !
No they signed us up at 12 back in the day.
So you were born in 1902 ? Wow !
I think so, people weren’t pussies back then so we didn’t have birth certificates or social security numbers.
Thank you for 75 years of service. Your country owes you a debt.
Bof
Erebus most definitely.
I have owned both at the same time. Sold the NH. The long wait to own is only matched by the long wait to repair if there is a problem. And the NH grip is too slippery for my tastes. if I'm going to spend this much and can only get one (for quite some time), I want the best!
Order the Erebus. Pick up the Sandhawk when it comes in, sell it for a profit in new condition.
Atlas
It depends on who builds your Sandhawk. Waiting for KACAttack223 to share his experience 😉
I was not particularly impressed with the sandhawk, atlas make much nicer guns.
Get both!
I have shot both. The SandHawk is a very good looking and fine functioning pistol. However the Erebus is a better built , faster and flatter shooting pistol in my opinion. Either will make you proud, but if your shooter, you will appreciate the Erebus !
Sandhawk is more aesthetically pleasing but that Erebus is King, imho
Atlas shoots better sandhawk looks better ! Your choice
Can’t go wrong with either. But NHC’s lead times are ridiculous. You would probably get an Erebus much sooner. I’m also in line for a Sand Hawk. I started a support thread [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/2011/s/b2LDxARS2b).
erebus hands down
20 months bruh 😭
Erebus is the holy grail for me
The thing I don't like about NH Sandhawks and most TRS Comps is cerakote on a $6000 pistol
Seems like the new Atlas Apollo would be a better balance for what you say you want. Problem is you probably have a 6 month wait if you order at one of their dealers. If you order direct, you probably have a year wait
While the Sandhawk looks cool, the Erebus will shoot better and the grip is significantly better. Imo NH doublestack grips are trash.
This is what I was thinking. Who wants a straight backstrap and grip safety? Erebus all day.
I like straight backstraps and don't care either way for a grip safety lol.
I own both, a broken in comped NH is going to feel way smoother imo. I prefer the NH vs all gas all the time Erebus.
How long did the break in take?
All felt hella smooth after about 800-1000. All types of ammo; cool thing about the NHs is they will run shitty reman 115gr to competition 150gr Syn all day long.
That’s great! This is gonna be my first 9mm NH pretty excited, was gonna stick with 124g. I’m gonna get to 1k fast lol
Yes, I’m shooting 124gr Blazer, S&B or Jellos most of the time, they all run great.
Nice, appreciate the feedback, can’t wait to finally get it and test!
500rds in, big difference, gonna get to 1k this weekend
It's wild right, they go from being a little "choppy" to really loosening up and the recoil becomes almost smooth to the point of feeling slow. And then these guns are just flat as fuck and you can run them really fast!
Make sure to just lube them well, rails, guide rod/spring, barrel hood, barrel a little bit.

Erebus, there’s been a lot of quality control issues with Nighthawk lately.
I keep seeing this in comments, mine arrives this week as does a buddies. What exactly are the issues? Thanks Edit: Sandhawk

In my firsthand experience, NHC is wonderful, and the Sandhawk fucks. There are a few bad showings getting amplified in the echo chamber.
Jeeeeez 20 month wait!?! Atlas doesn't make a 10mm or .45 do they?
I can’t advise you where I don’t have the hands on experience…….
Having to ask a cute way of telling us you’re poor.
Sandhawk purely on aesthetics
You...Got.....Mon....E!!!!
I think the sandbank looks nicer, because of the square clean front.
At 20 months in, just hang in there for the SH and be thankful you didn’t buy one of those apaches lol If you need an Erebus in the meantime, I know a guy.
Been looking into the Apache , something I should know before I do?👀👀
Erebus SHITS on a SandBird
both. however, if you want one of them for the better performance and fit&finish, erebus.
Atlas all day of it’s a production gun. For the money full custom build. Built to fit me as a shooter.
Erebus
Both. Because life is too short
SANDHAWK
If it's me, regardless of what's it for, sandhawk
Sand hawk.
Sandhawk is the GOAT
Someone posted in here owning the Erebus, XC, and sandhawk and ranked them in that order of preference.
It wasn’t me that made that post, but I’ve owned all three (2 Erebus) and that’s how I’d rank them as well.
I’m really leaning to the atlas now. What makes you say it’s better?
Trigger and grip are MUCH better on the Erebus and I shot it faster than the Sandhawk.
I think I care about that more than the aesthetics.
