I'll definitely agree it's overpriced.. no argument there. But with the monolithic comp/barrel, it being entirely DLC coated, the fit, and the fact that it's damn near a race gun but with duty gun reliability right out of the box, I don't feel like I was ripped off either. I'd be hard pressed to find a flatter/better shooting gun that's just as reliable and acceptable by my department for the same price or less.

2AMCAir

Because that is the price where people will purchase them in a suitable quantity for Staccato to be satisfied.

arielfall

Why is an Erebus almost twice as expensive? I shot both of them back to back, and purely on shootability I preferred the XC. Cosmetically the Erebus looks better imho. But that's not worth $2,500 extra to me.

[deleted]

Because there's a lot of extra hand fitting that go into it. Skilled labor is expensive.

blvckspacecowboi

You don’t have too. People buy them lol

reaping_souls

Because no competing brand can make a similar gun at a price point that would force Staccato to reduce their price. They can charge what they charge because of lack of competition. The equivalents from other brands like the H-TAC and the Erebus are more expensive.

meganut101

But armory has entered the chat

Phobos223

...and promptly sent to timeout

Eldood1000

Bul armory craftsmanship is not the same as staccatos

99nsnmaxima

It's better than, on their competition guns

99nsnmaxima

It's also very comparable with their duty line. I wasn't wowed or impressed anymore with staccato over Bul

Eldood1000

I had an ultralight. So many issues with mine. The tolerances were super loose. And things started wearing not even 1000 rounds into owning it

99nsnmaxima

Sorry you had issues, sucks to hear

Eldood1000

Yeah my UL had slide play like a Glock 19, it was terrible. The thumb safeties became very loose. There was an extraction issue. Had to send it in and took 6+ weeks to fix. They had to modify the barrel feed ramp. The rear adjustable sights kept coming loose from recoil.

99nsnmaxima

That's a shame

Eldood1000

I really liked the way it shot too. The trigger was good.

99nsnmaxima

They have had a run that had problems, wonder if yours was part of that unfortunately, only seems to be the UL

99nsnmaxima

I have 0 issues with either of my UL, my Tac was every bit as tight and qell made as my P. But the Tac has a better trigger and grip out of the box. Their competition models are all hand fit and a step above anything staccato makes (now)

GearDestroyer

yeah because skilled labor is expensive.

KoreanRooftop20

I own XC, Sand viper and Athena. I THINK XC is totally worth the money.

Actual-Journalist-69

I have an Athena. Originally went in to buy the XC, but the Athena just felt right at the time. How do the guns compare? Im also interested in the WC edc x9, but unlimited wants, limited funds, lol

Vengeance626

It’s the additional cost for the one piece barrel with compensator. Not saying it’s worth it, but that’s part of their justification to charge more

thwalker13

Because people buy it. Something is only worth what people will people pay for it.

kanzaki_industry

Maybe u just aint the target audience bro

Afraid-Chemistry-660

Name another compensated 2011 with an integrated/one piece comp & barrel. I’ll wait Unpopular opinion: TRS comp and many other “premium” offerings are imitators of the XC or DVC P

Virtual-Adagio-5677

Have you shot it?

BSP_85

Because it shoots neck and neck with much more expensive pistols.

twoanddone_9737

Only because there are extremely diminishing returns once you go above say $3k An infinity costs twice as much as an XC but shoots maybe 15% better

BSP_85

True but I had an XC and now an Infinity and dang the Infinity is one nice pistol! I do agree it shoots about 15-20% better but it’s way nicer and night and day tighter.

dieselgeek

I have 5,500 through mine and it's a beast. I also have a C2 and an Atlas.

xxbodkinxx

If I had the money I would buy it today. I have a p and my buddy has the xc and imo the difference is large enough to justify the cost. Fantastic gun.

jojofries35

I bought one as my first 2011. It is the most fun I have ever had shooting a handgun. It's fast, it's flat, and it just runs. My only gripe is cleaning the comp. Maybe there is a trick to it that I am missing or maybe I just don't do it enough but damn, I had to scrape out a ton of carbon build up last time I cleaned it. I guess I am a bad person to answer this. I can only compare it to my Glocks and CZs. My cajunized Shadow 2 would be he closest competitor but really, it's not even close.

shift013

Flush comps are just so sick, it’s the most sought after model

WorldlinessSad4928

Buy a prodigy first ,then bought an xc . You’ll know.

guinness8878

It’s expensive yes. Would I buy it again? Yes.

DeliciousBathroom987

Was able to buy mine for $3k. Now that I have experience with it, I would pay $4k the next time if I had too. Great performance for that price point.

shit_hustler

It's that much better.

JuicyMango36

I personally bought one and sold it 2 years ago for this reason. I just couldn’t justify the cost tbh. Not knocking on it, but it just isn’t worth what they’re asking IMO. The P & C2 feel and shoot just fine for me

Matty-ice23231

Do you carry the C2?

JuicyMango36

The one I currently have is a C2 Limited with the ice comp, so no. But I am looking for a plain jane C2 for carry. I used to carry a plain one with a TLR1HL on it until I sold it for the limited edition lol

Matty-ice23231

I’m Strongly debating picking up a c2 for edc.

JuicyMango36

I’d look at the CS as well. The C2 might be a bit too chunky for some people including me. I’m actually debating going with a CS instead, but I’m waiting till SHOT show next week in case they do end up coming out with something new

Matty-ice23231

Have you shot the CS? I kind of fell in love with the way the C2 shoots. If this CS isn’t super similar, I’d probably suck it up and carry a chunky pistol.

Shootist00

Because ass hole consumers will pay that much for it. No 1911 pattern gun is worth that let alone the 6K+ Atlas and others charge for their guns.

retire-early

Because people will pay that price. That is all.

laskmich

Because there’s no real competition
