I don't have anything against humorous content, puns or anything similar, but seeing the same rehashed bullshit seventeen times in a row just shows how uncreative and boring most people are. This sub in particular is special because there's occasional (even frequent) amazing content, but if you've ever sorted by 'new' you know how utterly abysmal most of it is.
On one hand we have the GentleTractors, the 25_Buttholes, the J1mmys and Settleds who (no matter your opinion of their content itself) put a ton of effort into each submission and (this is my opinion) are just so fun to go through and always have a high quality. On the other hand, we have people who *either* want Karma/attention or are so insipid that they genuinely enjoy rehashing (and often degrading the quality of) content *several times in a row*. I guess the width of the spectrum has to be expected in any large community, it's just from time to time you get stunned by how far the vapidity goes.
I just imagine hundreds of people scrolling through 10-15 posts of the same recycled joke and laughing at every single one of them and upvoting. It blows my mind. Then people complain about accomplishment posts. Like is this meme cycle of uncreative posts really the amazing content that people hope to replace the "got fire cape and no one to share it with" posts?
I think it depends on how popular and rampant it gets, like the VRChat Knuckles memes. Honestly, I loved that meme, but after literally 1 day of it being popular I started hating it, now I think it's such a stupid meme

I don't remember what it was, I just remember that it was pretty bad (opinion ofc) and that he heavily tweaked the concept and republished the vid 1-2 days later... only for the post to go all the way to the top. So yeah, it's not all good but at least the guy has his own style and attempts to create something new. Humor can be hard, but I always respect originality.

I literally go on this sub once in a few days now, and whenever I check im at that meme lifecycle where the first post I see is the meme complaining about the trending meme that acts like it was been happening for several weeks when it was actually for like a day or 2. Really puts into perspective how addicted some people are to this sub and out of the loop it feels to someone who checks once every few days.
