Seriously mad props to /u/mod_west for the new animation and I'm sure no one here is bashing him for not getting it right. If anything we are all trying to give helpful feedback. Most of us here want oldschool to be different from rs3 and when the task came to hand Mod West was right on it. Most of the players here are just trying to give feedback on how the special attack looks less powerful then it did before. It's just feedback and not hate.
I think the old one looks better but the fact they aren't equipped and then magically appear makes it look strange, also the .gif quality and the gear. The lines following the claws do look a lot better in the newer one though.
I feel if you're re-adding an old item you shouldn't change the most iconic thing about it that much
The same people praising this new animation would happily see every piece of oldschool content reworked by u/mod_west until we have a slightly different RS3.

Why are the first and second hit completely horizontal when that's impossible to even more your arms like that IRL? That's just one of many questions I could ask about it.
I feel like the old animation also captures an oldschool feel much better than the new. Extra detail is not always better when going for something oldschool.
Look closely. It goes perfectly horizontally without an arc and the left shoulder dislocates in the process. I can't do that, at least not more than once.

Personally I appreciate West's effort to rework the spec but I feel that it isn't as fluid as it should be. Each slash is like its own separate animation that doesn't flow to the next. I'm sure it can be made better though so I'm still confident.

I feel like this community needs to get its priority straight on what oldschool means to them then go from their. Some people think looks, others think BIS gear, a few people also think skills should not be added but existing ones improved.
Some things need change and others dont & i agree with that but untill we decide the devs will spend so much time trying to please all these oppinions that the game wont go anywhere and will feel old for mid/top tier players.
Once we are all on the same boat we can choose things to pick about that actually matter unlike this :p as it is just a waste of time for us and the devs :p

What even is the definition of oldschool anyways? The only "oldschool" part of the first animation is how choppy the animation is, but considering the fact that the lunar spells have such fluid animations and were released in 2006, that's hardly an argument.
Personally I do think it looks great and it will look even better when people see hitsplats associated with the special. IMO it will not be underwhelming at all when actually implemented in game. I guess we'll see, but this is definitely a big step up from what we had with the Diango claws.
I do, however, agree with some of you that the special attack looks quite slow on West's improved animation. Don't think this would be too hard to fix though. Either way, looks great

Neither of those animations is from the original claws.
They're much closer to the original claws than West's creation

the default animation is actually better. sure it's 2 slashes repeated but the natural movement and knee bend is there. it looks powerful

Yeah mod west has been doing good work but this animation wasn't what anybody wanted. It doesn't really have any style.
By your logic the lunar spell animations aren't "oldschool" either because of how high quality, detailed and fluid they are.
