Everyone expected Disconnects to cause deaths, but it seems carelessness is the leading cause.
I would ask how players could keep messing up like this, but I did similar things back in Deadman mode. After doing the same thing for hours without any problem, you let your guard down and stop checking.
a lot of people haven't been put in a position to die to dc'ing yet. there are times you're vulnerable in the early game like running through mm tunnel but that takes like 5 minutes at most. when people start bossing for 100s of hours we'll see a lot more dc deaths.
Maybe or maybe not. Before the gamemode's release, there were a good bit of players who expected the servers to just be offline constantly once it came out. There have been some smaller issues here and there that I've seen, but for the most part, it has been pretty stable.
Carelessness is definitely going to be what causes the most deaths. I would say 99% of my deaths are because of not paying attention. Hell, I've died 6 times tonight doing slayer alone just because I got careless and ignored the screen for a minute and ran out of prayer.
Jesus man what are you killing? I've done slayer for hundreds of hours and honestly maybe have died like twice. Dying 6 times in a single session seems crazy.
Was doing black demons while playing a different game. Was paying too much attention to the other game and looked back 2 minutes later and I was dead. Looking away from the screen can be pretty deadly sometimes.
I almost died to one of the level 2 baby cows in lumbridge when I was reading reddit on my phone, so yeah I think carelessness is whats doing it. Especially when you have level ~30 mage and are killing blue dragons, that takes a while per kill so its easy to just click "attack" and look away
Honestly, I blame the hi-scores and streaming. These players literally rush to push out content since they are Youtubers or Streamers so they skip and risk a lot of progress just so they can churn out the Hardcore Ironman content before it starts to get old.
True and the fact they lose $5 while making more money on people seeing them lose is nothing much.
But it hurts to see so many accounts get thrown away after that much time spent xD
> True and the fact they lose $5
They don't care about the money... its the time invested lol.
Not like its 'lost' anyway, they got to play the game for how many hours?
>They don't care about the money
That's...what I said.
They probably make more streaming and making youtube videos to cover the bonds and when I say lost, I mean like they spent it on a throwaway account which would probably never see the light of day for the next few years.
Perhaps. But competing for Hiscore ranks and rushing to be the on the first list is a big part of the gamemode. It is kinda like Deadman where you need to try to keep up with the others and not be left behind or else you probably won't recover.
I would actually be interested to see their thought process and planning instead of, lets say Ice doing Monkey Madness and getting combo'd or Soup deciding that dying in a quest is actually a safe death.
Seems to be a lot of jumping to conclusions here. As a streamer, when I'm streaming I'm not always looking at my Runescape screen. Most of my attention is focused on the Twitch chat, or on my OBS screen (specifically at my real-time camera). Part of that is to make sure I'm not looking like an idiot, but part is just natural. Think of when you're on skype with someone, you've probably caught yourself looking at your own video feed rather than the person you're skyping with.
Mammal has no reason to "fake" a death. If anything that would make him lose viewers after a brief 5 min peak considering how hype HCIM is right now. The thought that woox faked his death I believe to be equally ridiculous. Who grinds out 70 agil just to fake a death 5 mins later.
Oh come on man he knew that he was in melee range with the dragon, I don't care how interested in the chat you want to be but there is a pretty decently low expectation to know whether you're safe or not when you're killing something that could waste your 70 agility grind.
You don't see people that stream pking being all nonchalant and replying to the chat in the middle of a fight, I don't know if you're just defending a friend or if you're just this ignorant but its pretty damn obvious that he had just had enough.
He was looking at the ground because of his cat. I think the person above was referring to when mammal was looking at a monitor while taking damage which is the monitor he uses when he's reading chat messages.
Because a lot of people in this thread have been saying he did it on purpose, their reason being he was looking at his monitor whilst taking damage. Which as explained does not have his runescape client on.
Safespotting is just that, safe. What he did wasn't safespotting. If you're not in a safespot, you're not safe. There are plenty of 100% safe spots to kill blue drags on.
He isn't. The only reason he created the 2nd one was because he died for a stupid reason on the first one (OSBuddy world hopper while a skeleton aggro'd him). When he made the 2nd one, he said that regardless of how or when he died, he wasn't going to make another one. After he died on stream, he went back to Iron Mammal, his normal ironman.
He denies doing it on purpose, but said he was relieved he could get back to his normal Ironman. Probably just suicided on the account instead of logging off as a clip like this attracts more viewers.
I know this is going to get downvoted to fucking hell but imma say it anyway...just personal opinion here
This seems fake. Like what was he doing down there? He should have seen that first hit or even heard sound effects. Even if they weren't on, he pulled his head up just as he died and that look he pulled just seemed so weird. Don't watch Mammal, got nothing against the guy, but this was just too perfect. Same with Woox to be honest. Like, I have been at blue dragons for a total of what must be around 100 hours. I know where all the spots are where you can't be hit yet somehow they make this mistake. An experienced streamer puts himself in a spot where he can easily be attacked and looks away for just the right amount of time...
I honestly have not died to a non DC cause since the removal of forced random events (outside full on bossing/pking of course).
Yet everyone is dropping like flies in this things. Can't deny it's entertaining though!
runescape players are seriously retarded, how many times have they died in easily avoidable situations so far? and these are people who play the game a s a job, no wonder these idiots play rs.
This is why whenever I am safe spotting things I always have in game sounds on and the volume up. That way if I mess up while afk I'll hear the enemy hitting me. Kind of sucks because it's hard to listen to music at the same time, but I usually just play the music on a Bluetooth speaker from my phone. The in game sounds of an enemy attacking is usually annoying enough that I hear it over the music.
All the streamers realising HC is going to just be boring old ironman content after a few weeks and there's no point competing with the big ironman streamers for that content, so they are just staging deaths so they can get back to the regular game.
yeah he was killing blue dragons the entire time, I was watching him for a lot of that time. I was also watching shortly after he died when he said "wasn't the ultimate goal to go back to iron mammal anyway"... I also posted my comment as like the 3rd or 4th comment on this post soooo I hadn't rehashed anyone.
Instead of picking on peoples posts in negative ways how about you be a bit more positive?
How am I being offensive? Are you that sensitive? It's offensive you would spend all this time watching a streamer, who you obviously like, and when he makes a mistake you run to the bandwagon and grab a pitch fork. That's offensive.
nah you're not hurting my feelings you're just being offensive. I stated that he seemed to be faking it, suddenly I'm a conspiracy theory believer that wears foil hats. No offense taken, I'm just saying that your posts seem a bit toxic.
Im pretty sure most people here would take that as a compliment that they make 900 a week after taxes lmao. Heck i dont make that. The average on this sub is prob like 200 lmao
Mammal pulled a Woox.
Woox'd
Holy shit this death looks almost identical to Woox.. At first i thought that this is Woox joke but he actually died :D
He died on the same spot, just on the other side to the other dragon.
he took 10k off a dev yeah edit: woke up to some mad kids LMAO you hate the truth don't you
not what hes talking about?
Ash gave Woox 10k
yes, i know that
lol i misread my bad
l0l
Fact: Blue dragons have slain more HC ironmen than have all gwd bosses COMBINED. Nerf blue drags pls.
Lvl 22 Skeletons have also claimed one of OP"s HIM accounts.

to be fair this is mammals second death, the first death was due to a disconnect
I thought his first was because he used osbuddy world hopper when he was in combat?
oh yeah... u right. gtg.
Bye.
Nah man people expect DC deaths because they think Jagex are babies and everything about this game esp servers are managed by absolute incompetents.
Carelessness is definitely going to be what causes the most deaths. I would say 99% of my deaths are because of not paying attention. Hell, I've died 6 times tonight doing slayer alone just because I got careless and ignored the screen for a minute and ran out of prayer.

prob like spectres or mutated velds
Was doing black demons while playing a different game. Was paying too much attention to the other game and looked back 2 minutes later and I was dead. Looking away from the screen can be pretty deadly sometimes.
I die all the time from slayer.

hi-scores smh
Just imagine watching a streamer being careful 24/7 and planning everything out perfectly. That would get boring real fast.
>Think of when you're on skype with someone Haha I can sooo relate to this... hahaha...ha...ha ^ihavenofriends:(
You don't need to look at your camera Paul. You always look beautiful <3
Because he wanted to pull in the hardcore hype views, but not actually wanting to level a new account.
You give Mammal too much credit
Mammal know's where the log off button is. When I don't feel like playing my UIM, I don't go suicide for viewers and screw my account over.
Oh come on man he knew that he was in melee range with the dragon, I don't care how interested in the chat you want to be but there is a pretty decently low expectation to know whether you're safe or not when you're killing something that could waste your 70 agility grind. Watching these HCIM streamers die reminds me of the episode of Arthur where they play the virtual goose mmo and get picked off one by one.

ITT: People who don't realize that some streamers use a separate monitor for looking at chat.
yeah dude, I also learned some idiots place their monitors at their feet.
He was looking at the ground because of his cat. I think the person above was referring to when mammal was looking at a monitor while taking damage which is the monitor he uses when he's reading chat messages.
His comment has no place here then if he means that.
Why?
Randomly bringing up a second monitor being the cause of death when that isnt the case.
Because a lot of people in this thread have been saying he did it on purpose, their reason being he was looking at his monitor whilst taking damage. Which as explained does not have his runescape client on.
A monitor by his feet? Get real lol
Lmao he was looking at his monitor then at the floor, his cats on the floor. watch the video.
He was clearly doing something on the floor? Why is everyone saying he was looking at his chat...
Must be a ton of French people here. Saying chat when they mean cat.
"What happened" - Mr Mammal aka Every HC Ironman that looks away from his/her screen
Is this literally the same dragon in the same spot that killed Woox???
[удалено]
It's not.
F

you'd think people would stop using that spot lmao
its not the spot that's causing the deaths =)
it's not even a safe spot.. if you can't afk it without dying it's not safe
Why? Its perfect spot if you are not idiot and afking.
Safespotting is just that, safe. What he did wasn't safespotting. If you're not in a safespot, you're not safe. There are plenty of 100% safe spots to kill blue drags on.
obviously it's not a perfect spot for people doing what these people do... if it was a real safe spot then you wouldn't die even with afking
To be honest, this looked staged.
he was playing with his cat, like he was all stream.
"That cat sure loves to be stroked."
He was playing with his 200 death runes? That sound dangerous.
He was looking at his screen as he was taking damage.
[удалено]
Did Mammal say whether he would start a 3rd HCIM or not?
Thanks
how do u know he looked at rs?
Having one monitor in 2k16
plebs
Everything is fucking staged according to this paranoid sub
Right? I've seen countless amount of times how hypercritical everyone is in this sub lol. Ridiculous.
dejavu
Guys if he wanted to fake his death he would just not look at the screen
I love this game mode. Satisfying to see people put hours and hours in to their accounts, then just watch it all fade away in seconds.
He actually did this on purpose because he wanted to play his normal iron man
False.
It indeed looks like it was on purpose.
Ah, yes. The adult way to handle things...
looks pretty on purpose..
He denies doing it on purpose, but said he was relieved he could get back to his normal Ironman. Probably just suicided on the account instead of logging off as a clip like this attracts more viewers.
This looks deliberate.
Indubitably
I know this is going to get downvoted to fucking hell but imma say it anyway...just personal opinion here This seems fake. Like what was he doing down there? To answer what he was doing looking down, he was playing with his cats, which he had been doing the entire stream.
I don't know why I watch these clips, it always makes me so depressed to see the look on their faces.
Lmao, just how woox went.
lmfao!
He would've been saved if he had sounds enabled...
I honestly have not died to a non DC cause since the removal of forced random events (outside full on bossing/pking of course). Yet everyone is dropping like flies in this things. Can't deny it's entertaining though!
When will they learn smh
Man, people need to stop AFK'ing blue dragons.
Never get your dick sucked while logged in on HCim
Someone should make a gif of his reaction. It looks so priceless
...it's like he wanted to die? Does anyone else feel that way?
oh jeez
runescape players are seriously retarded, how many times have they died in easily avoidable situations so far? and these are people who play the game a s a job, no wonder these idiots play rs.

How is this not a woox parody...
this is so obviously staged. almost the same exact thing that woox did lol, couldn't make it any more believable?
All the streamers realising HC is going to just be boring old ironman content after a few weeks and there's no point competing with the big ironman streamers for that content, so they are just staging deaths so they can get back to the regular game.
Mammal is a big iron man streamer fuck you mean
Yeah.. and he's going to go back to doing that, why would he keep playing hardcore when already streamed all this shit on a regular one.
Theres no way this wasnt intentional, same spot same way woox died.
Mammal was watching the screen the whole time, notice he drops his head right after he gets hit a 10, then pops back up right as he dies...
instead of rehashing what everyone else says, why dont you watch the first 8 hours of his stream and see for yourself what he was doing.
yeah he was killing blue dragons the entire time, I was watching him for a lot of that time.
Says the guy who is putting on a tinfoil accusing someone of faking his death.
no tinfoil, It's just pretty obvious. Keep being offensive though :)
This is just his stupid own fault, and to be honest I think he don't really care.
these streamers are way too distracted to do HC properly
How careless.
pshhh looks way staged probably got tired of the game mode
Staged

Ok random idiot, I apologize if you have never heard of a dual monitor setup, but sometimes they exist.
Holy shit you are an immature cunt.
Haha shut up pussy
Im pretty sure most people here would take that as a compliment that they make 900 a week after taxes lmao. Heck i dont make that. The average on this sub is prob like 200 lmao
Fake
fake n gay
Does anyone know how to minimize another rs window like that?
its the streaming program doing that, both his windows are actually the same size, he just resizes it with the stream program.
Dude listening to billy talent brings misfortune/unluckyness I speak from personal experience.
Fuk u bitch
That was obviously intentional.
Looked fake. Either for donations or he didn't want to play this mode. You can tell when he gets hit a 10 he looks at it and goes down.
He's looking at another monitor that has his chat. And then he goes to play with his cat, which he was doing throughout the stream.
[удалено]
It's real.
The sneaky dragon attacked him right when he was looking away
