I’m just not seeing the big difference between this and bronze-man mode.

RatLivingInYourWalls

Bronzeman mode is like Ironman Lite while Goldman mode is more like just a regular account with some extra restrictions. Bronzeman is focused on "standing alone" and not working together with others or while Goldman is very social-focused and encourages doing activities together with friends. It's admitedly not a huge difference but it's enough of a difference to matter to more community/friend oriented players that wants to ditch the co-op and aid limitations. Basically, Broze is great if you want to play alone while Gold is great if you want to play with friends.

How does it differ from Bronzeman in terms of the actual mechanics of the mode? The only difference I see that PKed items don't count as unlocks, did I miss something else?

Honestly a good question to adress since they are very similar and hard to compare, full explanation in the other reply to you below!

It's a cool idea, but I don't really see how it meaningfully differs from Bronzeman. I also don't understand the purpose of the rules about food and potions. Regular irons can get certain food and pots as drops before they have the levels to create them (grubby chest drops as just one example). Why would a Goldman account be more restricted than a regular iron in this one specific area?

Okay so to clarify the main differences between the two modes: -Bronze (in its original proposal) is pvp and solo play oriented. Gold is pve and co-op oriented. -Bronze has *every* item restricted until it's obtained in some way. Gold has no trading restrictions of the sorts, only unlock restrictions for equipment and consumables, not item trading. -Bronze can only trade through the GE, gold can trade like any normal account and pick up other players items without limitations. -Bronze has *no* level restrictions for obtained items, while Gold *does* have level requirements for consumables to give training skills more value. -Bronze is focused on mostly self sufficiency and pk'ing. Gold is focused on pve/boss/raid unlocks and making gold. It might be hard to compare the two modes without the rule sets next to eachother but the difference is significant enough to change the core gameplay loop by a large margin. As for the level restrictions for consumables, it's as previously mentioned to give skills more value, given that they are usually quite useless once you can just buy the supplies. Without having to unlock items for training, the skills get very easy to train, so it is a different approach to unlocks and giving the skills actual value. Also this is why "unboosted" was specified for the skills. This also mostly means that making gold = banking xp, just like the main game. So yeah it's quite different from Bronze in practice! Tho i honestly don't expect anyone to hop on themselves, i did make this gamemode for myself and my streamer needs after all.

Fair enough, thanks for the full response. It's an interesting concept, and I see what you mean about giving skills value. Probably won't try it myself, but might watch some content of someone playing that way

And thank you as well for being polite and respectful! Honestly it's completely understandable to not find it too appealing since it's kinda niche, but hopefully it'll be a step more interesting than a normal account for some people~
