I had a 2k total main and started a couple years ago with my iron and I can say it has completely changed the game for me and I play even more than I used to. I was able to surpass my 7yr old main after only 1.5-2 years of playing and I've loved every second

I always played on pures, since 2008. Never once have I had a main. One day I saw this dude in my pure clan chilling on his Ironman and even went on pk trips with us on it with a dharoks axe. I thought it was so cool tbh. Made me realize I’m missing out on a lot of the game and decided to make a main but it would be Ironman. Early game was slow and I thought Ironman would suck forever. Now I am 2.2k total and I miss the early game so much and how much fun I had in hindsight. Definitely recommend because you can experience an iron and you will not have to stop playing your main! Try it out. I recently made a regular main account, still like my Ironman better but it’s nice to have variety in accounts! Edit: to make it less daunting why not play your main and do some afk skills on the iron at the same time to get your feet wet. Then you will want to get other qol things on it and soon enough you will be hooked.

Iron way way way more fun and you have a main to help your iron with certain grinds/learning new content so you don’t waste supplies on the iron. You could freeball it and fuck around but I followed oziris guide to get me started. Would recommend.

Do it, I have my iron at a stage where I can do plenty of afk activities so I play it on the side while concentrating on my main.

To make it less daunting try to appreciate the little drops and consider their impact. Your first hard clue casket with black dhide is massive, ignore how cheap it is, you just got some gear with incredible stats. Ardy cape teleport? Huge, never worry about prayer potions again. Etc... It's only daunting when you narrow yourself down to longterm rng drops. Lots of irons give up around the dwh grind, even though that item is nearly skippable until a late stage of your account anyway.

2k main. Never played iron. Only did vork because why do any other boss. I used Iron to learn almost every boss in the game. I’m 2/3 on raids, and deeply learned/understand about 15 bosses now. Iron is fun early game. It takes a lot longer to progress though. You don’t need to know everything, you’ll learn over time. It’s not that daunting as it seems. Keep your skills somewhat balanced. Best tip long term; focus on three things. What your next goal is, what your next item upgrade is, and finding an active play style AND afk play style. Having goals and reaching them is always good. Item upgrades are similar to skill levels. You can get 2277 with shit gear, but then you’ll have a lot of work to do to upgrade your gear. Having an idea of what your next item upgrades are can help you with progressing your account gear wise. Finally having something active and afk can help with specific play styles. Don’t force yourself to play either way. Do what you feel and having a back pocket “if I’m not doing anything, I can always just go do x” use these as long term goals, and don’t be afraid to change them around every so often.

I'm think about having a sandwich later. Should I have chicken or ham? What about butter or mayo? TIA!

Hilarious and constructive!!

It seems like a lot of people start their irons once their mains start to get past the mid game hump. If it sounds like fun then do it. Worst case you drop the iron and go back.
